Update! Received phone calls and got some suggestions. Water seems better and I'm pleased with the service/results!

I relied on what these people told me about Kinetico water softener systems 2 years ago and have had nothing but problems, expensive service calls and equipment breakdowns. I am on well water and prefilter it down to 5 microns (Huemann recommended 50 microns which would foul in about a day)and it still fouls the mechanism that runs the system. The internals are far too small to pass even 5 micron, dissolved solids. It makes one wonder what it was designed for. All wells have dissolved solids! The idea is great, the design sucks. Not at all practical This system is not good for well water and the manufacturer does not stand behind it nor do they answer technical questions. Lots of money for this boat anchor of a system. Do yourself a favor, go to Costco or somewhere and buy a much less expensive and more reliable "cheap" system. Just like an Audi is elegantly engineered, it won't cross the dessert but a cheap Jeep will. Total crap and disgusted. read more

We had Eric come to talk to us about getting a water softener. He checked out what our needs were, what our basement situation was and then tested our water. Eric educated us on water softeners and also Reverse Osmosis systems. He suggested a system based upon our need. I received his quote later that same day. He was very easy to reach when we had a few additional questions before our decision. We decided to install both systems and plan to rent for a couple of months and then purchase the systems. Our installation is set up for early the week following when he was here. Our experience with him was very good! We want to share what a fantastic experience we had with our installation with Jake and Jason. They were so kind, explained everything with great detail, took care to be very respectful and tidy with our home. They worked great together and were efficient. I ended up switching our RO faucet to a more aesthetic model. Jake did a great job showing me options for that. The workmanship and areas affected with the new equipment look great and very non-invasive to our space. During the visit Jake explained how everything worked, where the valves were and how often we may have to change filters, etc. My husband and I learned a lot and look forward to working with your company. It has been less than a week since the installation and we are already impressed with our water quality and how easy the transition has been. I called for service on my salt reservoir. It was a mess with salt all down the outside. The tech showed up and took a look and said it needed to be replaced. The bottom half of the container was like a salt slushy. He said he had a used reservoir with him and I could have it for $50. I was impressed that he took the initiative to have one on hand and not try to sell me a new one. I've used Huemann since I moved here a couple of years ago. I have been using this company for years for salt delivery. I finally had them give me a quote to replace my original water softener which they had installed in the house back in 1986 (hows that for quality) and add a sulfur guard system for my well water. I asked about a a system to treat for iron bacteria but their sales rep checked and felt it wasn't needed and explained why. No pressure to make an additional sales. When they came out to install the equipment the quality of their work was outstanding. The company goes above and beyond and really supports their customers. Highly recommended. read more

My water system was originally installed by Huemann, but I was referred to another place who came out and told me I need a new system for $3500+, I didn't think that sounded right and then I saw the name on the system. (Should have looked at it first). I called them for a second opinion, they came out and service and repair on it and said it would last a lifetime and charged me $211. I highly recommend this honest company. There are a lot of scammers out there, this company is not one of them, what a great guy, he even changed a light bulb in my freezer. I have to start out by saying that I have never used this company for their water conditioning service, BUT if their customer service is anything like their neighborhood friendliness, they must be top notch! I was at the park with my son, and he got his remote control plane stuck in a tree. The service man saw us from the road as we were throwing sticks at the tree and trying to shake the tree to knock the plane down. He quickly turned into the parking lot and grabbed a pole from his truck. When the pole turned out to be too short, he decided to try extending a tape measure. IT WORKED!!! Culligan charged me to come out to my house and after taking a brief look at my softener told me I needed to buy a new one. They quoted me $1500 for a new softener and charged me $150 for the service call. I then called Angel Water in Barrington, they too told me I needed a new softener and quoted me $1300. I finally called Huemann Water. A service tech came out to my house, took a look at my softener, and for less than $100 in parts fixed my softener and brought it back to life! Amazing service. Sadly I can't recommend Huemann any higher than 5 stars because they deserve it. You cannot expect this but their response time was about 30 minutes! Steve came out and fixed an issue I had w/ my softener. I noticed I still had an issue so I called back and ended up speaking to Joe (the owner) on a Saturday. He recommended a few things to try that did not help. They sent Matt on Monday who determined that I'm an idiot and I had a water filter somehow causing the issue. We bypassed as a test and sure enough problem solved. The cost for the return trip due to my incompetence? $0. I surely miss the small independently owned/operated service businesses of the past. We recently moved out to the country (Barrington from Chicago) and bought a house with a well. After suffering with smelly, discolored and bad tasting water, we called Huemann Water to see what they could do. Long story short...we have delicious, wonderful water for a reasonable price. I called Huemann to schedule a time for them to come to my house to check out my current system. It was a busy time at work for me and couldn't be flexible with my schedule. I called them on Sat morning because our well pump stopped working. He was very professional and courteous on the phone & on his way to be there in under 30 min. 20 minutes later we realized the connection to the pump was all corroded and that was the problem. We called him to let him know we solved the problem. He was already in my town and made the trip for nothing. He did not charge us anything for his time and was very understanding. I moved into a house that was built in 1955 that had a well with a Kinetico Water Conditioning System in it. I was unfamiliar with wells and called Huemann Water Conditioning in the hope that I would be able to get some information in addition to an evaluation, as I knew the system was quite old and would probably need replacing. From the initial contact this company was exceptional to work with. The ladies who answered the phone and took my initial calls were Linda and Kim. They could not have been any friendlier, helpful and more professional. They took all my information and told me I would receive a call back shortly to discuss my needs. I received a call back within an hour and made an appointment to have someone come out and check out my system, explain the maintenance and talk to me about possibly replacing and updating the older system. A man named Josh came out within a few days, exactly as promised. He was very prompt, helpful, professional and took extra time to explain the well system as well as the Kinetico Water Conditioning System. He was very patient with my endless questions and concerns and was not at all pushy as far as trying to sell me any equipment. I decided that since my system was so old it was time to update it. Josh spent a great deal of time with me and I never felt rushed. At this time I also decided to add a reverse osmosis drinking water system to my home, as well as replacing a 22 year old hot water heater inside my home. Josh even took pictures in the well of my current Kinetico Water Conditioning System to make it easier to plan for the new installation and ensure that it was installed in the most efficient manner possible within the confined available space in my well. He went back to the company to meet and discuss the installation of the system. I soon received a follow-up call from Joe Huemann to discuss the system and work I wanted done. I also spoke with Kurt from the company and he explained more details and pricing for the entire job. It was obvious that they had put a great deal of thought and planning into this job to ensure it was done in the best manner possible. A date was scheduled and they came out and completed the work exactly as planned. They sent out 3 men, Reggie, Steve and Scott. All 3 of them were friendly and very helpful and really took the time to explain every aspect of the installation and made sure I understood everything they did. They completed the job and I felt very comfortable with their work and the price was very fair for the great amount of work that they completed. I cannot make enough positive comments about this company. They have been the best company that I have worked with in decades. They are an exceptional, company with old fashioned values such as honesty, integrity, and pride in their work which is difficult to find in many companies nowadays. I called the company several times with questions and concerns before they came out to complete the job and always received prompt call backs and they took the time to make sure I was comfortable and understood every step of the process. I have never worked with a company with such a quick response time regarding call backs and they always patiently answered all my questions. They were always on time and never late for any appointments and even called to confirm before they came out to my home. Their communication and punctuality was outstanding. Josh set up our water softener system in April 2015. His analysis of the need, materials needed, and time the job would take was spot on. He used virtually all existing materials he could to create an efficient water treatment system. He even spent some time with me afterwards to teach me how the water softener works, even though I did not purchase the machine through Huemann. Cost was better than any other plumbers out there. Been with heumann since 1985-87 and have rented a system since then. Recently had issues with the system as it's from 2007. Called to have it serviced as the renters had rust stains accumulating. Everything went well until my aprox 32 yr contract was broken and had my rent on it jump up due to their repair costs. That is the point of renting a system is they do maintenance and repairs of their system. Not to mention wanted to sell me that 10 yrs old system for the cost of a new 2017 system at Home Depot. Was informed that they had to update the existing system and incurred repair costs and that I was responsible for it with increased rent charges. Told them to remove their equipment due to breaking their own contract. Very rudely was asked to come up with the contract as if their business was going to hide the fact they broke their own contract. Very disappointed customer won't be going back. read more
