Above and beyond the call of duty. My blue Star stove caught fire. Huff initially came out to assess. I was issued a replacement. Blue Star was unable to find a company to do the install, so Huff appliance installed my stove, even though that's not what they normally do. When the stove was delivered the transport company left it at the end of my driveway. When I called Huff in tears, they literally dropped everything understanding the scope of my stove being left at the curb, then they rerouted their technician immediately, and made it happen. Same day. to be honest, it was not their circus or their monkey, yet they made it happen. The company showed great customer service. I called on Friday, and they scheduled me on Monday. Monday morning they called to confirm what time they would be arriving, but I accidentally scheduled a doctors appointment at the same time. They move their schedule around so that they could fit me in later in the day. The technician was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this company to family and friends. We have used Huff once and have attempted to use them a second time. After voicemail calls and an email, one phone call where I finally connected and spoke to a service pro- I still cannot get them to call me back to schedule the repair, after 2 weeks. Clearly they're busy but I don't know a service company that can stay in business while providing poor follow up or none at all. read more

I did some google searches, checked the BBB made a few calls do the lack of reviews on Yelp for 'dryer repair'. I had a dryer that squeeled like a crazy pig! After a few 'cold calls' to various businesses either I'd have to wait up to 3 days to get someone to come out and the service call prices ranged from $49 plus parts or $59 plus parts and labor all within $10-$20 price difference and longer wait time. I chose Huff Appliance Service because of these sole two reasons: 1. Their location is located on Woodland in East Nashville 2. I have seen their big van roamin around my hood when I walk my dog. 3. They picked up on the first ring of my call. I spoke with Erin who said a technician would be able to arrive the next morning. Service call was $60 plus additional for parts and labor. They did not have the part our dryer needed to so would call us in a day or two when the part came in. One day later, the part arrived and they would be able to come on the 3rd day and install. It was the same technician both days who was very friendly. The part was $25 and labor was $80 plus tax. So about $200 and short 3 days later our dryer was pig squeelin free! I probably could have saved $20 on the service call, or cheaper labor with using another company, in fact I know I could have..........but it was worth the cost to support your local neighborhood business with prompt friendly service. When I bought my house, it came with a Sub-Zero built in refrigerator. A couple of months ago, it didn't seem to be as cold as it used to be. When a handyman was out there working on a project, I asked him to take a look. He didn't want to touch it, as he said he wasn't an appliance guy, and might make it worse if he fooled around with it. I didn't blame him, and he told me about Huff and one other company. I looked up both on the internet and got a better feeling about Huff's page, so I gave them a call. Once I called them, a technician came out when it was convenient for me, and he got the problem diagnosed and fixed in that trip. He was clean cut, clean, and very nice. I would also say he was a real expert and the cost was within the reasonable range. With an appliance like this, you should expect to pay a bit more for service. Hope we don't have another problem with the Sub-Zero, but if we do, Huff is on speed dial. read more

They didn't seem to want my business (ice maker repair), or to value my time. They never called me on day of appointment to tell me the window of repair time, showed up outside the window they finally gave me when I called back, and delayed in giving me an estimate or providing any info about scheduling or price. Responsive, we appreciate the tech coming the day before thanksgiving. The tech diagnosed a leaky evaporator coil which he was temporarily able to fix so we could use until full repair, fan motor was leaking oil so we were advised to let him fix also, light bulb switch, as well as seal that we'd duct taped on the bottom a few mos ago. We paid $372 for that trip, which included $150 to charge w/ Freon. He estimated remaining repair for next visit would be approx. $1000. He mentioned he'd attempt to have management discount or comp the Freon he'd use on the next visit. Came back and finished repair this morning, just over an hour. $492 parts, $15 shipping, $650 labor (just over an hour) and another $150 for Freon. Total $1,157. He indicated manager wouldn't let him comp Freon charge due to "EPA requirement". Obviously false, but rather management decision with an attempt to shift blame. Unreasonable labor charge and poor management decision not to adjust cost of Freon. Tech's response was, he was a senior tech (?), we are cheapest in town to work on sealed system, but he agreed poor decision for management to not adjust cost, but there were several other things he would change if he was in charge. I understand the unit is an expensive brand (came with the house) but no justification for $650 labor plus another $150 charge for Freon. read more

Larry came out to take a look at our wine fridge that came with our house when we bought it. The temp kept going up and down. He said that with the technical problems it has that he had to in good conscience inform us it would just be more worthwhile to buy a new one because the labor and parts would be $1000 and a new wine fridge would cost us $1200-1400. My experience with Huff has been terrible. I bought a new and expensive range hood from Cenwood. It would not turn on after it was installed. Cenwood said Zephyr would send parts to Huff and they would repair it. After a month went by, they came out. The parts did not fix the problem so they ordered another part which was to arrive in a few days. Another week has gone by and nothing from Huff or Cenwood. This thing may never work. Cenwood certainly does not stand behind what they sell but Huff does not follow up or even attempt to get the problem fixed expeditiously. read more

They still haven't taken care of the issue with the wrong compressor. I still recommend going somewhere else for any repairs.

I have a Whirlpool French door/bottom freezer refrigerator that is almost 2 1/2 years old. Recently noticed ice crytals forming on inside of freezer door. Checked the temperature in the freezer to find that it was only 34 degrees. Also noticed extreme cold spots in the refrigerator--so cold that items were freezing. I followed the trouble shooting guide in the refrigerator manual, adjusted temperature & humidity settings. Problem persisted. Then the 'fridge was not cooling at all (thermometer registered 52 degrees).Decided to call a repair service. Checked on-line, reviewed several appliance repair services in my area. Decided on Huff Appliance Service for several reasons (close to my home, positive customer reviews, length of time in business, etc.). The 'technician' (Mike) that came out said I needed to get everything out of the freezer--which, of course, happened to be full. He dismantled the freezer door, then spent almost an hour and a half blow drying the ice that had built up in the freezer! and was somewhat insistent implying that the problem was most likely the freezer door had been left open 'a little bit.' I informed him that this was unlikely as I am always very conscious of the doors being firmly closed. His response was patronizing and dismissive. He asserted that he had taken care of the problem. Until the next week...I noticed ice crystals forming again in the freezer & the 'fridge was not cooling. Same tech returned, stated the freezer door needed to be shimmed (!!) because maybe it had become bent. Which is what he did. [Although he had written on the first ticket "seals-ok."] He did not charge for the second service call and stated at time of departure to 'call if there are any further problems.' Not very encouraging. Sure enough--the same problems recurred. When I called the technician he stated that he would have to have the owner come out and look at my appliance and that he could only come during the morning. Not convenient for me. Frustrated, disappointed, and out $150+ at this point just for the service call (not to mention the cost of foods that had to be discarded). I decided to call Sears (not where I'd purchased the 'fridge) to find out if their service department could help. Repair man came out promptly. Asked several questions of me, examined the appliance and after a couple minutes informed me that I needed a new circuit board. He replaced the old one in about 15 minutes. No problems whatsoever since. That was a year ago. I never heard anything back from Huff--no follow up calls or inquiries, nothing. Have to say I will never call them again; nor, would I ever recommend this business to anyone. In fact just the opposite: I would heartily dissuade anyone from calling Huff Appliance Service. read more

On Friday called back and got answering machine. Left message, never called. Called back about noon, and they said they never scheduled the appointment. Bunch of liars. read more
