This was my first visit and it was a great experience from start to finish. My Angel Bebe Kisses suffered a scratch on her eye from the groomers. I noticed that her eye was shut by the 3rd day and she wasn't acting normal. In fact, I thought she was dying (I'm a fairly new dog mom). It broke my heart to see my baby feeling bad. My friend recommended Huffard and they gave me an emergency appointment the same day that I called. The reception area was very clean and they had snacks for dogs and us humans lol. Kyle was my intake coordinator and he was friendly and provided excellent customer service. He showed me how to administer the first dosages of Angel's prescriptions. The Veterinarian explained Angel's medical condition and showed me where the scratch was in her eye. She even took a pic with my iPhone for me. Absolutely, everyone that I came in contact with was very helpful and most importantly kind to Angel. I got my puppy, Dutch, when he was five weeks old. Entirely too young to rehome but, my husband and I were lied to about his age. We quickly needed to find a vet. Huffard was able to see Dutch quickly, catch him up on shots and make the visit a pleasant experience. There are snacks, drinks, coffee and tea. The waiting area is huge and comfortable. There are complimentary dog treats throughout the lobby. You can also buy typical pet things such as leashes, treats and toys here. The vet and staff were amazing. They are super patient with my crazy dog!! My puppy sees Dr. Grant who is sweet, funny and caring. My dog is a HANDFUL and she is always in a positive mood and is patient with him. they use email and online communication - I enjoy. They also send electronic receipts. I knocked off a star for the price of small things being expensive. I have a 5-lb yorkie and was charged $20 for a nail trim. I told Joy that I was trying to save money as I just started a new job so, why not mention that it was $20 before performing the service? Otherwise, the prices are OK. I haven't compared the prices to other places but, for his second vet visit it was $55 for the visit and with vaccines (and nail trim) it was $117. I'll probably try Tractor Supply for the rest of his vaccines and trim on my own. As much as this location is great, I really didn't appreciate the extra. We have mixed feelings about Huffard Animal Hospital. We've come here for the last year and love Dr. Greenwood. She's seen us through the loss of two dogs and the care of our other two. Our main problem is lack of communication and possibly training with staff. Twice we were told during exams to bring pets back for follow-up appointments, for which there'd be no charge. When we returned for follow-ups, the front desk staff disagreed and charged us! This was for a canine influenza booster vaccine. On another occasion we were quoted one price for boarding our two dogs only to find we'd be charged much more on the day we began boarding leaving us no choice though we made the boarding arrangements more than two months in advance. If it weren't for Dr. Greenwood we'd find another facility entirely. read more

My Yorkie received a quality of life and survived a week at another boarding facility despite Huffard's negative outlook. She did well with the other dogs as if she did not leave home. The boarding facility followed my instructions on how to care for her, and the staffs did it successfully. With love and care, she was saved from the horrors and stressful situation under a veterinarian's unnecessary intervention. We do believe that Huffard's opinion to put my Yorkie in its ER is extreme and rigid. My Yorkie had a lucky escape from Huffard's trauma. It's a good thing that we carefully analyzed the situations at every angle. One can imagine how bad Huffard's boarding is, the fact that Huffard thinks that its boarding is not good enough for my Yorkie and suggested that its ER is less traumatic for her. To add, Huffard's office manager flat out accused me of irresponsibility to intimidate me. She said it to the wrong person because I can defend my morals. She does not know how many big things I have done for my dogs. She apparently lacks empathy and good judgement, insensitive to people. For this matter, we will be taking our Yorkie to other veterinary that is next to the boarding kennel to continue her quality of life at the same time properly giving humans peace of mind. Our fur babies have been patients of Huffard Animal Hospital for years. Dr. McCafferty was simply the BEST!!! Since she's left things have declined. Wait times are ridiculous, even with appointments. Today I called to schedule a yearly wellness appointment. I didn't mind being put on hold, an employee updated me there were 4 calls ahead of me. So I wanted 30 minutes because I wanted to speak with an employee. However, after 30 min. I was forced to leave a message for a call back. Why make me wait, if I was going to have to leave a message just to schedule a wellness appointment? There was no option for me to continue to wait. I understand that it might be challenging to find staff but they really need to find a way to improve their customer service. read more

They're close to my home, they don't gouge their prices and not only have I gotten the same vet for my multiple visits (without even asking for the same doctor) but each time my babies were taken very good care of, and were brought back to me with smiling faces! Lucy pulled off her ENTIRE nail to the quick, I called for a next day appointment and she was brought back to the vet before her appointment time and was returned to me tail wagging and ready to play. I have never been here before, but the moment I walked through the door, the receptionists knew my name and my dog's name! They were all very sweet and accommodating. She was SO good with my puppy and explained everything she was doing and even gave me a little print out of information on a condition my little Benji was in. Pretty disappointed with how this place handled today. Decided to move my senior cats care from Banfield to Hufford because she had some stomach issues and needed more blood work that was included in Banfeild's annual plan. January we come in for our first annual exam and pay for the 3 month bundle of solensia (a pain shot for cats) I was pretty shocked it was $386 after asking for prices in December they explained we increased our prices for the new year. Ok, understandable so I pay it. They tell me there won't be a charge when I come in for all her subsequent shots because it's just a quick tech drop in for the shot. Fast forward to today 3/9 I come in, wait in the waiting area as my cat gets her 2nd shot, they bring her out and as I say thank you to take her and walk out they say. "Oh wait here for them to call up Maggie to check out". I sit back down thinking ok must be routine since it my first time back and so I can get her next shot scheduled. Nope! THEY CHARGED ME $40!!! For a "tech and medical waste fee" I ask why because they told me I wouldn't have to pay anything? She says oh it's new they just started early March. (What like Monday? Or last Friday?) Regardless, with it being that new you'd think they would have warned me when I came in or sent out an email informing. So now it's supposed to be $140 a month for a solensia shot?! That's how much it cost at Banfield for the shot and the monthly payment together. At least with them I get unlimited exam visits if need be with some blood work and shots included for the year. Looks like I will be going back to Banfield. I used to work in the veterinary field I understand prices change. But we always sent out company emails and informed clients when something was new at check in so they're not blindsided like I was today. Old review: My first experience with the hospital was for 2 urgent care visits for my old cat. Their intake was fast, organized and thorough. Urgent care appointments are taken in between regular scheduled appointments, 1st appointment barely had to wait but second one was a bit of a wait. Either way I was notified it could take a few hours depending on the day and how their appointments go for the day. Thank you to the two drs that helped us out in a time of worry because my cat hadn't eaten for 3 days and was vomiting. She is doing much better on a prescription diet now. If anyone else is starting a prescription diet the 30% off code on the purina site doesn't work, Petco.com will give you 30% off your first auto refill prescription diet food. read more

I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt on my last review but since then i have had more bad service. I would not recommend them to anyone. They said they were going to take care of a second mass during surgery if it needed attention and forgot to and the communication since then has been awful. I called and left a message, like the person who responded to the review said to and never got a call back. Finally, I got someone on the phone and now our cat has to go through a second surgery that is almost double what we paid for the first one that was only a few months ago. Although I had gone to Huffard for years, I left during Covid because I would be on the phone for hours at a time waiting for someone to pick-up, and I couldn't go inside with my pet. I really liked Dr. McCafferty, and when I found out she had left, I knew after Covid had settled down, I wasn't going back. I don't really like the care where I am now taking my pet so I decided to try Huffard once again this November. I "absolutely" love Dr. Greenwood. Although the price is high, she is so caring, and I even believe my pet Biscuit loves her too; (but maybe not so much the shots she gave him). I have only been back once now, and next week is our second appt. Also, the staff there is great! read more

I am very upset with Huffard...We made an appointment for our new dog to get checkout. Huffard called and left a message to confirm appointment, it took me 4 phone calls to speak to someone...and than she put me on hold each time I called for 20 minutes or longer. Every time I called to confirm the appointment, the girl would ask emergency, I would tell her no and she automatically put me on hold. Great vet, good people, and they have the Pro Heart 12 injection here. Apparently rattlesnake vaccine and heart worm injections are not really a thing in this area of the country. I went here on the recommendation of a friend after I had been trying to find a place that could see the girls and had the pro heart injection. They could do booth and unlike others that were months out they had us in within a week. The whole start to finish time took a while (an hour) but that in my experience the total time anywhere. Their prices apparently are high but I can tell you for one dog in central Louisiana through the civilian vet was right at 500. So the 300 something here was welcome. That amount got all the yearly vaccines to include kennel cough and the heart worm test. I don't know if it's ass the same vet doctor but the one I had was good. I trust her with the girls. In December comes around I plan on taking the little one over there for here vaccines as well. I recommend it to anyone in the area. Especially if you new and around the Mead area. It's not a far drive and it's worth it. read more

I had a couple issues from my last visit. 1) I went to drop off my dog and when I called to let them know I was out front, the rude women hung up on me. After 1/2 hour in the parking lot a nicer lady came out to get my dog. How hard is it to be nice? 2) I explained to the lady taking my dog I would be picking him up the next Sunday Morning at 8:30am and to please give him a bath on Saturday so he is dry the next Morning - Nope! No bath at all but charged me for it and gave me a credit on my file. 3) I gave them the Dosiquin my dog takes and they never gave me back the bag. 4) My dog had a ear problem and they instructed me to give him drops till the following Wednesday but never gave me the medication. This place has gone down hill. I will look for a new vet. read more

Bringing my cats here for vaccines has been great! The vet and technicians are amazing. They have classical music playing in the cat exam room, a padded bad for them to sit on for their exams, treats to distract them and feliway calming spray to keep them calm while they're here. read more

My original review of Huffards was not good (1 star) and just to summarize my family has been using their services for years and have recently noticed a steep decline in their customer service. To be perfectly clear none of my concerns are with their competency. Since the review I have spoken with their Practice Manager this evening to address my concerns. She was very professional and took the time to listen to me and to give perspective as to what is going on at Huffards. After our conversation I can tell you is that she and her staff deeply care about their patients so much so that they have taken on more clients when others are turning away new customers. Some people might say it's because of greed but I believe it's because they don't want to see any animals suffer or die because they didn't try. Why else would they take on so much when their current infrastructure and staffing cannot meet demands? Currently Huffards is under staffed working with antiquated equipment (phones, computers, and probably more). While this might not mean much to some people, it does to anyone who has ever had to do a job with substandard equipment and can be frustrating for everyone, staff and client alike. I am hopeful after speaking with Mrs. Blazejak that she is working to improve their infrastructure and training to provide the best service that I know they are capable of. If anyone out there is looking for a job, I know they are looking for more staff to accomplish their goals. Thank you for your understanding. They suggested some medication before a visit to make it a little easier. She is a little less stressed but still won't allow them to take blood. Dr McCafferty is an ANGEL. We have two bully breed dogs who aren't a fan of the vet and they love her. She explains everything to us perfectly after every appointment and is always willing to answer our questions. The only reason for 4/5 stars is the impossible task of getting someone to answer your call promptly as well as pricing. Looked up a procedure cost online prior to scheduling it and was very surprised when the estimate from the vet was 5x as much as the "average cost". We got it done, but customers shouldn't have to sell their organs for surgeries and medications. Regardless of that, McCafferty is the best vet I've found and I'll be here as long as she is! read more

We've been coming here since the Summer of 2020. They have very good COVID pre-cautions which makes me and my dog feel safe. Dr. Hu, Dr. Plitt, Dr. McCaffery(sp?) and Dr. Greenwood are AMAZING! I'm a first time dog Mom and they don't make me feel silly for asking a million questions. I also email the hospital a lot and the responses are always timely and helpful. They're EXPENSIVE so definitely have a savings account just for them. Other than the high prices, I really love how they take care of my dog. read more
