My early Friday morning found me in Clarenore with time for a relaxing breakfast. Choosing Hugo's a local diner vibe and I was not disappointed. It is worth the short drive off the beaten path. The service was quite satisfactory. I ordered a CFS with 3 eggs over easy, German potatoes and a biscuit and gravy. The CFS was thin but very tender with a very mild flavor. Nothing too fancy or exciting but not disappointing. The biscuit was similarly mild and quite acceptable. Tender enough and fluffy enough to fill the role of a receptacle for the creamy and very lightly peppered gravy. If there is a stand-out item on this plate it is the German potatoes. Grilled crispy on the outside and soft inside these are a nice change from the usual hash browns or so often poorly done "home fries". I definitely recommend Hugo's if you want a classic diner breakfast in Claremore. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect, but the resturant was a bit dated. But the servers were very polite and fast. Took my order of biscuits and gravy. I also ordered some bacon and eggs. First of all food was good but NO SEASONING!! The service was okay they were kinda quiet but really nice all in all enjoyable breakfast.

Food was amazingly good! Very homestyle cooking with LOTS of bacon. The eggs were wonderful and the breakfast potatoes weren't what I was expecting in a good way. The only complaints I had were they made you pay with cash. The ATM charged you. There was no wifi. But the waitresses were nice. I've had my eye on Hugo's for some time, and on the advice of a good friend, we headed over last Sunday for breakfast. When there's a wait, you know it's probably going to be good. We pulled in, found a parking spot and got our names on the list. Was advised it would be about a 15-20 minute wait. We returned to the car to bide our time, and sure enough, at around 15 minutes, we heard our name. First, the place is very homey. I like that. Also very Pro-American. Like that a lot too. Also... it was packed. That's usually a great sign too. We were seated in a booth amid the noise and chaos. Yeah, it's not a quiet, cozy place to eat. Servers are dashing back and forth, tables are being bussed and dishes clanking. All the hallmarks of a great, old school diner. Orders were placed all around and we settled down to chit chat and wait for the food. The Son and The Kid both had the chicken tender platters, 2x on fries. The Wife had the Denver Omelet (I call them Western Denver Omelets, because I don't know the difference), and I had the venerable ham and cheese omelet. Also, as an afterthought, and because I'd read Yelp! reviews, I ordered a side of bacon for the table. Food arrived in pretty short order, and literally filled the table. Warning... do not come here if you're not hungry. The offsprings' chicken tender plates were loaded down with food. Fries were good, and chicken tenders were well cooked without being overdone. Good flavor, texture, and juicy. A good effort. The omelets were 4 egg omelets, so they're a tad bigger than most places. Plenty of filling, cooked well, and tasty. Also on deck was a generous serving of German fried potatoes, which were a welcome change from the hit-or-miss hashbrowns most places throw down. Also offered was a generous bowl of gravy and an impressive biscuit. Centerpiecing the table was a platter of bacon with easily a dozen strips on it. And it was pretty freakin good bacon too. Overall, there was not one single think I could find fault with. Good food, great service. Just a warning to first timers, it's a cash or check only place. No plastic. They have an ATM in the corner, so you're not gonna wash dishes if you don't have cash. Hugo's bumped way up on our new breakfast locations, and it should rate high on yours as well. read more

I went on a Wednesday around 11:00 to try this restaurant. The prices were fair and I had a bacon omlette with german potatoes and biscuit and gravy. A portions of the food were big which is the only reason this review didn't receive 1 or 2 stars. However, the food was bland and when I mean bland it had no flavor. I even added salt and pepper, tabasco sauce, and picante sauce just so it would have flavor. I arrived starving a little after 11AM and ordered breakfast. HUGE portions, the potatoes appeared to be a smashed baked potato fried crispy on the griddle and filled most of my huge plate. The biscuits and sausage gravy are to die for. The biscuit is so fluffy and light it sucks up that white gravy expertly.
