My family and I came on a Saturday afternoon and boy was it BUSY. The entrance was bumpin with music but quieter in the restaurant. Service was great for ordering sides and drinks. I can understand with a bigger crowd comes with bigger messes to clean. The food/ sauces were contaminated with either the food next to it or dropped from someone else's bowl. Again, it would be hard to maintain as it was busyyy. Grill was always entertaining to watch them cook everyone's food. This was my first time at Hu Hot. The server was very nice. She got us our drinks fairly fast. I got a Pepsi. They only have Pepsi products. The vegetables were fresh. Good food, but do NOT trust the app nor their promotions. For us, again, the app promoted buy 1 get 1 free, but when paying the hu hut 'computer system' doesn't recognize the free meal. Consequently, the store wouldn't honor the app's promotion, and management would not charge us for only a single meal. I came in and ordered a to go bowl as I had many times before . I only went up once as required to r terms of the bowl but ate at the restaurant. I caught the server staring at me over and over again next I know the manage is at my table lecturing me that I was going to be charged for two meals one for eating here and one to take it to go, I argued with her and my server sheepishly brought me my check and never talked or me again. I should've known better. But I called in just to ask what the prices for kids were. The call lasted about 1 minute but she hung up on me. When they first answered it sounded like they were chewing gum on the phone due to the smacking of the mouth in the background. But she had no clue what any of the specials were or the prices of there kids meals. Perfectly understandable ,but she let out a sigh like she was annoyed and gave the phone to another lady. The first few times I tried this place the food was awesome and I had some great experiences here but it's kinda gone down hill since then. The food is just okay, and it can be a bit pricey even if you're just eating for two. The place can also get way too damn busy during the lunch and dinner rush: if you walk in and see the line around the grill wrap around twice you might as well walk right back out unless you enjoy spending your time waiting in line. When it gets that busy you'll spend more time standing and waiting then you will actually eating. Another negative side effect of it being that busy is that when it gets messy it's impossible for an employee to squeeze in and clean anything. The sauce table is almost always a disaster zone and a lot of the ingredients can accidentally mix with others. Sometimes the cooks accidentally mix the food on the grill together too. Half the time I'll get my plate back to the table to find ingredients I never added myself. Lastly, I haven't noticed this restaurant take any precautions for the COVID-19 pandemic other than hand sanitizer by the bowls where the line starts. Tables haven't been spaced apart, there's no limit on the amount of people that can be in the restaurant at a given time, and masks aren't being required. I won't be eating here until I see some changes. read more

HuHot is awesome and I love the concept, been to more than a dozen across the country and made more than 100 visits in 12+ years. It gets a 3 because the are now in forcing the 2 bowl rule. 1 bowl just doesnt fill most men up including me and require about 1.5 bowls. That means lining up twice and on a busy day can nearly double your time here. It also wastes a lot of food because a lot of people are packing the bowl as high as they can. I suggest a 15% increase in bowl size which will fix the issue. read more

1) They forgot my croutons which was the first thing I asked for to the waiter. 2) They manger to run out of Teriyaki on a Friday by 9 pm which is one of my main ingredients for my recipe. 3) They had my lady friends food all the way done before they even put my food on the grill. So we had to eat out second half of our meal separate. The cooks were being lazy and not keeping up with the customers coming up to the grill with their food. They only had 3 meals on the grill. 4) the grill was turned down as low as it could go it looked like. Resulting in my noodles being poorly cooked and the causes being hardly caramelized. The line can get LONG during peak time (lunch or 6-7pm) but the line moves fast. I thought the price was a bit too high considering there was no shrimp or other items except for ingredients for stir-fried noodles and one small bowl of garden salad. Only seafood available was imitation crab and frozen chunk of fish. Even if it seems to be a popular place in Fargo, Super King buffet ($10) seems to be better than this place for money or quality. read more

We were sat very quickly- even in the middle of lunch on a holiday. The food was well stocked. When we got to the grill one of the cooks was upset we had 2 bowls per person and told us we would be charged extra, even though they charge a flat rate for dine in for unlimited times through the line. The 1st person in our group of 4 got their plate fine, then the 2nd got only half of their plate, and the cooks tried giving me the other half of his food. This caused confusion among the cooks. It seemed the cooks weren't well organized and didn't work as a team making the lines a little slow for cooking. Our server was very nice, but kind of slow. It took at least 10 minutes for her to check in at our table after we had sat down with our food, which made it hard to ask for anything. We had to wait awhile for our server to bring our to go container to get food for someone at home. After we were done and got our check she passed by our table 3 times, as we were trying to get her attention to pay and leave, before she finally grabbed our ticket and card. After having enjoyed my visit to the Sioux Falls, SD location, I decided to come to this Fargo location. Pretty much an identically good experience. All you can eat Mongollie grill style for $14-15, with plenty of vegetarian (even vegan) options. You grab a bowl, fill it with whatever proteins, veggies, noodles, and sauces you want, and they will grill it up for you in minutes. It can get busy and when it does, the lines for the grill can get pretty long, so heads up there. Good spot for the hungry. Perhaps the only difference with this one is they are more anal about only taking one bowl at a time to get grilled, and they are quite small bowls, so you can end up wasting a lot of time standing in line when it's busy. read more

Simply disappointing. Maybe I'm spoiled but this was so disappointing. The food was average at best. I will say it was fresh and well stocked. The disappointment came from the extremely long lines to get your food cooked and the result. So I love Mongolian BBQ, my regular place in my hometown is twice as big, twice as busy with none of this kind of line and with only a 4 cooks at best. Here is the deal, they don't have their grill hot enough. Taking too long to cook and also resulting in the food being cooked but not "crisp" or having that perfect char. Stopped in for dinner here. I'm not a huge fan. The floor was super slick from oil or stuff spilled on the floor. Basically you get a plate, add whatever raw protein you would like, add any veggies you may want, go to a sauce counter and pick any combination of flavors you may want to try. Then you take it to the round cooking table and they take your plate and cook the food there in front of you. The beef was like jerky once it was cooked. It comes frozen and then they cook it. I didn't try the chicken. I ordered the fried dumplings as an app and they came out burnt, not fried. They had a terrible flavor. Not a place I would see myself returning to but that's just not my thing. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants because the food is great. However the service is horrible. I went with my son and my brother and when they got their food from the grill they went back to the table and I waited for mine. The cook tried to give my food to someone else and thought that my son's very small portion plate was mine which I found very offensive. The chef overly cooked my food and my beef was burnt.Also we arrived at 3:40 and the waiter charged us dinner prices and tried arguing with us saying we didn't get there 'til after 4 even though we got our check at 4:30. There's no way we could go through the line and eat twice all within a half an hour or less. Also if he truly did believe we arrived after dinner then he should've offered us soup or salad with our meal, which he did not. So I'm giving the place two stars because the food is usually good, but I've never had good service here. read more

I've always wanted to try HuHot, but there isn't one in Oklahoma City. By the time I'm around one, there's something else that is calling my name. This restaurant is set up like a stir fry buffet. On the day I was in Fargo for lunch, they had three people on the grill, and it seemed to be a pretty steady time for them. The three guys that were at the grill had this rotation going, that worked for as many people that were present at the restaurant. I would be worried about stopping in during their more busier times, because of only having one grill would make the wait a turn off. Since it's a buffet-style restaurant, they're not going to let you take leftovers home. So be mindful. As I was trying to be mindful for my very first dish, I automatically felt that "DOH!" moment as I took the first bite. It was this concoction of spicy coconut chicken with peanuts.... awwwesome! Even though I wanted more of what I had, I tried to make the most of my trip and tried something different. It was good but wasn't as tasty as my first mixture. All in all, the place is clean and didn't have any problems. You could also order something off their menu at the table, which included dessert. We didn't indulge that day, but there's always next time. read more

LolI've been coming to HuHot since it opened in Fargo. For years this has been one of my favorite places to eat. About 3 years ago the placed started to slide down hill. Pour service and un cleanliness. Tonight was by far the worst I've ever seen. When I arrived there were maybe 10 tables that were occupied. I stood at the door waiting to be seated for almost 5 minutes. It seemed allot longer, but by my phone time , it was 5 minutes. A couple that was leaving said, "you almost have to seat yourself tonight." During this time I seen one waiter rolling silverware, no other waiter or waitress in sight. That was only the beginning. The girl took me to a dirty table. I asked for water and rice then headed up. The chatter at the grill was busy but not English. I don't care but if they would talk less maybe the grill wouldn't be such a pig ste. It's normal to see things not clean but the slop on the floor was 3/4" deep. The guy cooking never changed to get new tools. From pushing the slop down the trough back to your food. They guy scraping was slopping water and residue from the last plate to my plate and others. I get back to my table to discover in at a dirty table with just my fresh glass of water. No silverware or rice. I went and got my own silverware up at the bus bench.. I was half done when she came by and realized she didn't bring rice. I had about 6 bites left when she came with rice. I asked for more water and the bill. She brought the bill. No water. I REALLY hope the management gets their shit together because the food here can be awesome. read more

Love this place! I've been to Mongolian grills before, but this one is king. I really liked the variety of veggies and sauces they had, I tried the hottest one and it did not disappoint. It's also fun to mix in different sauces so don't be discouraged that you can't try them all in one visit. There is a menu where you can get different appetizers, drinks, and desserts, but I wasn't really hungry for that. The ambiance is nice, but a bit noisy so don't expect a booth to yourself. I'd compare it to an Applebee's so it's not that bad. All in all, the service is great, the good is fantastic, and I highly recommend it so give it a try. read more

We came here hoping and wanting good Mongolian and left...still wanting good Mongolian. It wasn't the fault of the chefs. Those two brothas working the grill were dynamos (especially since they had to sail around the thing as if they were on ice skates the entire time) and by far the best part of the visit. They were a pleasure to watch, but this place has not learned the first lesson of Mongolian grills, for all of their prancing about of various fake quotes from Genghis Khan. That lesson is that you have to keep the goddamn contents of the various food containers at a temperature enough to actually keep the shit frozen. The floor, wet and slippery, also indicated a probably malfunction on the cooling side, which was not helped by the staff who just kept dumping stuff in on top of the other stuff, rather than rotating it out. Yeah, I get it, we all hate waste, but besides the gross aspect of that practice, there is also a prominent food safety issue, which this place willfully ignored. This was most egregious, naturally, on the meat side. The vegetable side was similarly a disaster, somewhat modified by them keeping the various containers only half (or less) full. Which was still thawing as well, probably due to them wanting to keep frozen stuff intermixed with stuff that just needed to be chilled. The sauce side was, if anything, even worse, as the lid was so low, it kept interfering with the handles of the ladles. So, low sauce levels and ladles that liked to bang on the hood means...spills and crossing of sauces. Joy. For all of that, the noodles I chose (yakisoba, as I recall) were pretty solid and I got the mix close enough that it was edible, though far from great. Were we not hungry from a pretty long road trip, we probably would have left, but results were probably better than we had a right to expect. Went there today, food was only ok. A good Mongolian place is in Grand Forks called Panda Buffet. The food was ok not great, but still had a descent taste when filling your bowl with sauces all the way until it is nearly ready to spill over. (You get great taste and the sauce cooks into it this way, instead of evaporating into steam and having no sauce cook into your meal. (trust me it is not over kill to do this, you get great teaste) Now, with the bowls. before cooking, the people grab them and from the top, and placing the thumb on the inside, or fingers on the inside, touching your food and sauce. (Disgusting) as they stay there for the whole shift and do not wash hands. They also do not wear gloves. So from the first persons plate that person touched (with finger(s) in food) you have all them in your food. Yes, it isn't cooked yet, but just knowing there fingers go inside the sauce and on your noodles and meat for everyone to see is a big turn off. I finished my drink on my first plate, went for second, still no refill. Got my third and got my 2nd refill. They also fill the cup up with more than halfway with ice. They didn't charge for the milk which is why they deserve 1 star instead of 0 stars. (If you could give 0. So think of 1 as being 0.. Just make sure to ask them not to touch your food and to wash there hands first. Even though no hand sink is provided for them. They must go step all the way in the back to wash hands. The menu also has different names for the sauces, than the sauces themselves. So you got to know the american name for it on the menu... And than it is the Mongolian name on the sauces. So your kinda out of luck without asking someone for help until you learn them. They have a descent amount of sauces, but they could easily have a lot more available as half the sauces you would never want anyways. Like the "House special green sauce" One was called I believe. I did not try as it did not look good. Also, they have a kids mixture, but you cant mix it without help, since the sauces have a different name than what is listed on the menu. So kids are surely out of luck. And they have hot sauces, so kids would easily get confused. (like my daughter) Price I selected is for one person with drink. About $13 read more
