Trying to find decent "Mongolian" food cooked on the walk properly is a hard find here in Salt Lake. Getting your food together is the easy part, the part that's depressing is hearing the cooks how miserable they are with their job. Instead of paying attention and cooking the food properly they end up over cooking your food. Not a big fan of crunchy noodles off the walk grill. What's better than "All you can eat"? Interesting concept. While many Mongolian Grill style restaurants offer only a single serving, diners can return over and over again to try the vast variety of spiced sauces. Various recipes are posted so you can try their suggestions, or try one of your own. Not necessary to pile on the food! The "cook line" can get very long during some dining hours, but the line seems to move quite well. We tried two visits, one lunch (almost no waiting during the weekday during "lunch off hours" and another dinner (weekend was some waiting, but not unbearable). There did not seem to be a vast difference between item selection; just the addition of a salad or soup with dinner. Since this is a place I returned to a second time in a single visit to SLC, it was very acceptable. Also, was a restaurant that all my family was able to agree on! I recommend a trial lunch (off hours) for 1st time visitors. Appetizers can be pricey (but they are tasty), and not really necessary with all you can eat. Food was great! The grill works wonderfully. I feel like they do a great job keeping lines moving. This is the first Mongolian Grill I've been to where the food is kept frozen until they cook it. LOVE this place! Service was great, polite, and fast! Every time we go here the cooks always joke around with us or do cool tricks while cooking out food! We went there on opening night. We were curious, and prepared for there to be some hiccups. But there weren't any, the whole experience was extremely positive. The line up to the Mongolian grill was a bit long, but moved nicely, and the food as well worth the wait. I don't know if all the HuHot resturants do this, but this place allowed you to get drinks for those mix-and-match soda machines - they brought you out a 140-selection drink menu and you got to pick. It's a little thing, but I thought it was awesome. :) The wait staff was great, and were very well organized for the first night. The owners were even walking around welcoming people to the restaurant. We ordered a soup with dinner, but they didn't come, and when we asked about it, they said, "to be honest, the soups were made wrong so we're not serving soup tonight." We weren't really keen on getting the soup, so it didn't bother us, and I appreciated that they were very honest about it. So good atmosphere, good food, good service, and a very positive opening night! I think we'll be back here a lot! read more

My husband and I just got to eat at the Hu Hot in Sandy, UT on a recommendation from some friends he works with. We had been looking forward to it since there use to be a place like this when I was younger that I really enjoyed, but they all went out of business. So we were glad to hear that Mongolian Grill made its way back to Sandy. Very very good food and at a good cost for a nice, fun, different night out. Right when you walk in the doors the place is very new and kind of exciting with the very artistic décor on the walls and very open atmosphere. We asked later on and they told us the art is specially made and really hand panted just for them. The host girls were very warm and welcoming and sat us immediately. Then our server was along in no time. Since we had never been here before she took the time to explain how things worked. I was surprised since the old places you only got 1 bowl full and had to pay for more. So all you can eat was a nice surprise for us. Plus you get your choice of a soup or salad with your meal. I had the salad and loved the sweet and soy sort of dressing on it. Yum! You also get a drink from one of those drink machines from the future with every flavor imaginable. We went over to get our bowls full and I was again surprised by the good selection of meats and seafood. I only remember the old places having like 10 things to choose from and 2 or so sauces. So this was great, the bar was nice and clean and the meats looked very fresh. Then they have all the veggies you could ask for in a nice little bar. All labeled and well stocked. You know most of the time you go to a self serve place like a salad bar there is stuff all over the bar where your trying to get your food, this was well kept and very clean. The sauces were a bit confusing at first only because there were so many, but I even tried putting 4 different sauces on mine thinking well see, and it was tasty. You could eat there a hundred times and never make the same dish. They do have a little recipe menu above but I like to live on the wild side. The cooking of each dish is pretty fast, I thought some of my veggies would be under cooked, but they were cooked well I think because of the size they cut them into. We each had 2 plates and were very full. Service was great and we will definitely be making this one of our regular grub stops. I am writing this review so that good places like this one will be able to stay in business. We are so glad to have it in our neighborhood, and hope people get out and try something different and just have a fun little night out. read more

The buffet is $12.99 but worth it. I ate at Golden Corral for Thanksgiving and would have rather eaten here. I have eaten at HuHot at least 3 times and will eat there again. I came here for a work Christmas party, and it was my first time ever to a HuHot. The place was full of families with young kids, running all over the place and very loud and busy. The food was okay, but definitely just processed and cheap buffet-style quality. I actually enjoyed my appetizers more than the actual bowl. I probably won't be back, but the two stars are for the staff and their ability to handle large groups of people and maintain a positive demeanor. read more

This restaurant is perfect if you have been thinking to yourself "I like Stir-fry but, don't like getting my food SO fast. If only there where a way to make a basic noodle meal take 90 min..." As a bonus- you get to hear the cooks talk about how well people are tipping and ignore you, until there is a normal amount of space between people and then one of them will bellow "ONCE AGAIN, everyone please move all the way around yo the right." Chill dude. Half your grill is empty, and there are half a dozen bowls sitting on the wall waiting. You get to be annoyed we aren't crowded elbow to elbow when that grill is running efficiently enough for it to matter. Waitress who is in charge of drinks and the check was pretty hard to find too. Went about 6:30 on a Wednesday. Place was not really busy, probably 1 out of 3 tables taken. Food and service was great! The waiter explained the establishments procedures and offered tips on preparing our meal. The manager was out on the floor checking tables and talking with patrons. Great Mongolian in the salt lake valley. Clean and friendly service. Always willing to accommodate various dietary needs by cleaning the grill and separating if vegetarian or peanut allergies. We love going here with large groups as they can accommodate various dietary restrictions including gluten free. Excellent selection on meats and veggies and 3 noodle type options as well. We went to eat here tonight for the first time and have to say FABULOUS!! Our server was very helpful since it was our first time there she gave us some tips on how to make our plates starting with the veggies and meat, than adding plenty of sauce because the grill is so hot the sauce evaporates quickly, topping it off with noodles to hold all of it in which made our dishes perfect. They have little card menus to help you out with different recipes which I think is awesome for everyone but especially new customers. They have Mongolian Beef, Teriyaki Veggies, Szechuan Chicken, and so many more. I went for the Pad Thai and unfortunately the main sauce was made with coconut milk and I am allergic :( but I tried my own recipe and it was fantastic! For dessert we had the cheesecake rangoons, you pick your own toppings raspberry white chocolate.....DIVINE!! We will be eating here again for sure. The food is not that great. The service is just as bad. After we were seated the waitress came over to take our drink order. We went through the line to make our food. The selection of meats were okay. They had a lot of sauces to choose from which was great. We went back to our seats and finished our meals within maybe 30 minutes. STILL NO DRINKS OR RICE. First and foremost, no one should eat there. Not because the food is bad but because of the blatant violations of food service codes (plus all sorts of other ick factors). People were handling food without gloves, for example when asked for additional crackers for smores the waiter brought them in his hands and set them on the table. Tables were not bussed in a timely fashion (some not at all - several remained cluttered from before we arrived and after we left). Food scraps/particles was all over tables, cross contamination was a huge issue with vegetable floating in sauces, food items were all over the food bar. Could also question the temperatures items were keep at (some raw). DO NOT each here if you have food allergies. Period. It isn't worth the risk. Oh, and no plates to eat your dessert off of for a highly likely unclean table? Don't let me start on the server who argued all night with a member of our group. I've been to HuHot several times, and it's a favorite with my coworkers. Even though there are better Mongolian grills in other states, this one is certainly the best in town. They always have a great selection of fresh ingredients, including both meats and vegies. I especially like how they have multiple noodle options. They also have a very sizable and varied sauce selection, a necessity with this type of restaurant. As always, a Mongolian Grill is pretty much what you make of it. read more

I have never been to HuHot Mongolian Grill before this time but was very impressed with this one in Sandy. We went for lunch and the prices were very reasonable for what you get. You cant complain about $8.99 for all you can eat. I felt like the food was quality and was by no means cheap. I went back three times and was impressed with everything I tried. I see a few negative reviews here because the food was not good, the thing is you make your own meal and you season it yourself. So if you dont like something you get that is probably your own Fault. The Staff was very friendly and on top of things. The Manager seemed to really know his stuff and was very nice to all the customers and well as his employees. Ill be going back! read more

Absolutely love the food here! It has become one of my favorite places to eat. You get to create your own bowls with whatever noodles, meats, vegetables, and sauces you want. It was our first time trying out this place. At first it seem like a casual environment, pretty inexpensive. The food to start off is frozen, not as fresh as we expected and all the food was all over the place. The sauces all over as well. Some of our dishes had a very hard crisp as if they didn't clean the grill well. This place is waaaay too overpriced for what they offer and deliver, hell Genghis grill is way better than this.
