    Mongolian options!

I was so excited to eat here again but sadly, it's gone downhill. The food was bland and you could tell everything had been left out for a long time. Our group had a hard time finding things to eat that looked appetizing. Our server checked on us often and was friendly but that's not enough for me to go back.

I must say Utah is definitely lacking when it comes to good buffets. However this place is a little better than the other. Some dishes might not have the best flavor, but I did not try a single piece of chicken was was dry and that is impressive for a Chinese buffet. The salted shrimp was also not a mushy paste like when other places cook it too much. The service was good and friendly, the place was clean and the ambiance was better than other buffets. I don't often go to buffets, but so far this one is a good one.

A pleasant surprise. Great value/quality for the price. Wide variety of food, much more than other buffets in the same price range.

Worst buffet ever. Food was too dry. Everything except Mongolian grill tasted like leftovers. Sushi was the worst.

Arrived a few minutes before lunch was ending but told our server we'd like to enjoy the dinner options. Sashimi is a dinner item, nigiri for lunch. A Sushi Buffet with Surprises -- Fresh Rolls, Friendly Vibes & a Plate-Finding Adventure…read more We finally made it to Takumi Sushi & Buffet, and if you're into sushi buffets (guilty!), this spot has some standout features that make it worth the visit. The best part? You can order custom sushi rolls made fresh--no waiting around for dried-out rice rolls here. We tried the Sunrise Roll, which was bright and citrusy with a lemony kick, and the Tequila Roll, which packed some serious heat. I tapped out after one spicy piece (spice and I are not friends), but my other half loved it and polished off the rest without hesitation. The buffet line is a solid spread too: sashimi, nigiri, a seafood section with peeled shrimp, mussels, and rock crab, plus a bunch of hot dishes to round things out. Pro tip: The plates and bowls are underneath the buffet counters. It took me a moment to find them, but my shorter half was already ahead of the game--of course. They've got a dumpling station that's worth lingering over, and the pork belly buns were so good I may have gone back for seconds (and thirds). And if you're a prawn fan? They've got them every which way: chilled, grilled, fried--take your pick. The soups are self-serve and include miso, seafood, and egg drop--classic, comforting, and great for warming up between plates. Special shoutout to Nico, our friendly and helpful server who explained how everything works since it was our first time. Always appreciate service with a smile. We left full, happy, and with a couple of come-back cards for $3 off lunch and $5 off dinner--nice little bonus! While it may not be our go-to for sushi-only cravings, it's definitely one of the better buffets in town, and we'll absolutely be back.

It will be hard to find a better restaurant view in SLC than this one and the interior has a beautiful elegant vibe to it and it wasn't even busy when we were there for a weekend lunch. As for the food, I ordered the Pork Osso Buco - the pork was nice and tender and fell right off the bone. The rice had a nice flavor to it and the mango salsa complemented the dish with some fresh sweetness. My one slight point for improvement was that the pork could have been a bit more flavorful / seasoned more, but I still really enjoyed this dish. $34 was slightly on the pricey end but understandable given the quality of restaurant. The complimentary bread to start was also great, as it was soft and the berry jam was delicious. As mentioned, the environment is beautiful with floor-to-ceiling windows of the city views. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, and the service speed was decent. They had plenty of seating available with no reservation needed. Overall, I would give The Roof 4.5 stars if I could, but will decide to be generous and give 5 stars for the uniquely beautiful views. Especially if you are visiting SLC for the first time like me, I would highly recommend dining at The Roof.

Our server was lacking personality and friendliness to aid us in decisions. Servers can make a mediocre meal taste fantastic. He had the chance to make a magnificent meal shine, but he didn't. He never wished our birthday girl a happy birthday. He never thanked us for coming nor asked us to come again. It was another sweet girl that asked us to take our plates so we could sit in comfort and she thanked us for dining there today. Our waiter let me sit with a huge spread of marinara sauce on a white table in front of me from the moment he took away my plate until we left. He filled our water and didn't do anything about it, he brought our dessert and still never noticed. He had many chances to wipe it but never did. Disappointing that service was not on the same level as the dining experience was intended to be.

Y'all also really know how to give a guy high blood pressure, because some of the meat was overly salty and overcooked -- especially the brisket. Please ease up on the salt moving forward. My mouth was tingling. And if y'all are repurposing the old meat into the brisket, at least mask it better or repurpose it into other dishes. My tastebuds were not prepared for that level of assault. As a steak lover, I usually get my steak medium rare, but out of the hour and 45 minutes I was eating there with my family, there was only one time the steak came out bloody. Every other time? Another round of applause -- well‑done, with a hint of medium well here and there. My table also got skipped a couple of times by one of the waitresses carrying the meat, but our main waitress was very responsive and respectful, so props to her. The menu states that you can request certain cuts, but apparently that rule has changed. When we requested a specific cut, we were told they have to go through the full rotation before serving it again. Long story short: just wait until the cut comes back around. If that's the case, remove that option from the menu -- it's misleading. Or simply tell us you're short‑staffed; we'd be more than understanding. Bacon‑wrapped beef was good. Top sirloin tasted good but was overcooked, same with the center cut. NY strip was overcooked, brisket was salty, linguica was overcooked, pineapple was solid. Not a lot of positives with the beef -- the only positive thing was that it was steak. Please watch those cook times and how much seasoning is going on the meat. That was a one and done meal.

The appetizers come with the hot pot and there are plenty of options to munch on while your ingredients heat up. Korean fried chicken, edamame, and gyoza are my favorites. After ordering your drinks, soup base, and meats (vegetarians get a cheaper option), you can get right to the veg/seafood buffet. They have a great sauce station and a big wall of different kinds of popular ramen packs to use if desired. Once you get settled, you can keep ordering the meats you like until you get full. I like to keep a little note of what I think of each one so I remember for next time. These are my personal opinions: 1 Mr Shabu ribeye - tender lean, best 2 oyster blade muscle - meatier but only ok 3 Mr. Shabu beef kurubi eye - chewy, wavy, not good 4 Mr. Shabu pork single rib belly - fatty, bad 5 US wagyu beef round eye - tender lean, good 6 US wagyu beef clod eye - jerky striated texture, bleh 7 Mr. Shabu beef boneless short rib - oily but in a good way, little chewy, great flavor 8 Mr. Shabu pork collar butt - fatty but comes apart easy, ok 9 Mr. Shabu lamb shoulder - no Usually if I'm playing it real safe with just two, I pick 1 and 7 :) I hope you come to try all the different flavors for yourself!

The corn cheese was pretty good actually, but the korean fried chicken was hecka dense. The meat wasn't dense, but the starchy layer on the exterior was really stiff. Didn't taste like the other korean fried chickens I've had. The mushroom beef was really salty.. and the beef itself was really tough. Next, I feel like the selection here is pretty small. There's not a lot to choose from at the bar area, though I admit that I am pretty impressed by their ramyun collection. Their crabs were literally minuscle, and I find it extraneous that they serve their noodles in bits. Yeah, you read it right: bits. They cut up their noodles, probably because it is easier to pick up with the tongs. But, is it even noodles at that point? The staff was pretty lethargic today, even though it wasn't busy at all. Took me a while to get their attention for more meats. They do have some great meat, but in my opinion, it really is a hit or miss. Stray away from the meats that start with "MR. SHABU", because they're not the best. The ones I've had were too lean or sometimes tough. However, I think the cleanliness of this place is on point: shiny tables shiny counters, and dry floors.

It is spiced with cardamom, which is supposed to be good for your stomach after a meal like this. Oh, and the heat level. We ordered no heat in the butter lamb, so it just had a hint of spice. I ordered a three out of five on the lamb biryani, and it made my face sweat, but it was so delicious. The raita served with it cut the heat somewhat.
