I've been wanting to try this place since I looked at their menu online. Needless to say, I'm disappointed by the dishes I ordered. We decided to try their lunch special today which I'm basing this review on my order. I ordered the Chicken Chow Mein with Sweet & Sour Pork. The lunch special came with egg drop soup and ham fried rice. Let's start with what I liked, kinda, the ham fried rice. It had good flavor but I can tell this restaurant is big on using MSG. I'm ok with restaurants using MSG but not this much. It also needed just a little bit more soy sauce. The next item I liked was the sweet and sour pork. The pork was seasoned well and the breading stayed crispy. The pieces were about an inch in diameter. The sauce was well made and you can tell it was made in house. However, there were only FOUR PIECES. Really??? Give me at least 6 pieces! Now, how can I describe this without sounding mean. I'll just say it. The egg drop soup was nasty. The flavor was just not good at all. It just didn't taste right. Saving the worst for last, the chow mein. This dish is a train wreck. I think they sautéed the meat first with MSG. That's all I could taste in the meat. Then they threw in the vegetable and noodles. There was absolutely no seasoning in the vegetables and noodles. There is nothing positive I can say about this dish. The worst part is that the chow mein is what they gave you the most of. It's not looking good on me returning to this restaurant. I would rather go a half mile west and spend my hard earned money on food I love at Red Maple. read more

I've been going to Canton Wok for many years! There is no better fried rice in the valley! The owners are so kind and attentive to their patrons and they have great service. Canton Wok is the best!!! My boyfriend and I went and ordered the cream cheese wontons, Peking Spare Rib combo, and the Kung Pao Chicken combo. Everything was fresh and delicious! The kung pao chicken is my favorite because of the peanuts and vegetables (and the spiciness), but a very close second goes to the ham fried rice included in the combo as no one has better fried rice than them! I was visiting my sister this weekend and she took me here because it's one of her favorites! I ordered the Peking Spare Ribs and they were delicious. This was a well loved meal after traveling the whole day. The food was well priced and you get a lot for what you pay for. The supposed Mongolian Beef is like boiled soggy soft beef (I think) with more white onions than anyone ever needs to eat, add more- green onions-with zero flavor. Not a single pepper flake red, black or any to be seen or tasted. It's just bland. Then the vegetable chow fun?? Add another entire white onion, green onion & some bean sprouts (no other vegetable in site) and sadly, it too has zero flavor of anything distinct- but at least it has texture. This has gone downhill. We went here for my daughter's birthday last night. Service was slow, one order was wrong, and we waited awhile for it to be fixed. The teriyaki chicken wasn't very teriyaki-ish, and the Phó was not good like it used to be with the original owners. It was heavy on the cloves. Saddest was that our daughter and I were both sick during the night. The staff is very friendly. Not sure we'll be back. read more

Truly bad food & it's hard to mess up Cashew Chicken. Very little chicken. Waaaaay too many peas & carrots. Cashews were slightly burnt which made it taste acrid. Also paid $8.75 for the teriyaki chicken. There were only a few thin pieces of chicken & the teriyaki sauce was so soupy & watered down. Definitely was not worth my hard earned money. We've lived down the street from the Canton Wok for a few years now and never tried it out. Finally we gave it a chance and we're pleasantly surprised. In fact, we loved it enough that we've been back several times since our first foray. The owners are friendly and very personable. The food is fresh and always cooked to order and served up hot. The beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, beef chow mein, Szechuan pork, orange chicken, and all of the other entrees we had at Canton Wok have been very good. Canton Wok may not look like much inside or out, but the food is very good and I would most definitely recommend you give it a try. read more

I'm glad to say that the food was great and I have finally found a great Chinese food place close to where I work. Pretty unassuming from the outside, being in the same strip mall that a rundown Reams is in along with a lot of other closed businesses, and pretty old school on the inside, but luckily it's the food that matters. The food is fresh and the servings you get are great for the price. So far, I've had the sweet and sour chicken and the orange chicken and both were great and tasted great as leftovers. The staff was friendly and the second time the owners already remembered me and offered other suggestions based off of what I had last time which was so awesome. I'm going to be killed if anyone in my BFs family reads this, but I am not a fan of this place. They love it here, and perhaps we just didn't order the right items but I left feeling really disappointed and slightly worried I would end up with food poisoning. First of all, there is no ambiance. It feels like this is a take-out place that is not meant to be eaten at. There is one large table with a lazy Susan that served it's purpose the night we went, though. The little Chinese woman who waited on us was darling and I appreciated her fussing about, but the food was just not good. We ordered the Four Treasure dish and lemon chicken along with hot and sour soup and fried rice. The only thing truly palatable was the rice. The soup was very gooey and slimy and not at all appealing. The Four treasure entree had shrimp in it that tasted altogether wrong. I spit out chewed shrimp into my napkin for fear of getting sick. The lemon chicken was ok but was just a fried chicken patty with canned lemon sauce on top, nothing special about it. I personally, would not go here again unless I had to, and if I did return I would avoid the seafood. read more

Overall we liked this place. Their sweet and sour chicken in the shape of hot dogs lol was delicious even pre saucing. The orange chicken, while more subtle in flavor than many orange chicken joints (Panda), was good and nicely different. We really liked their egg rolls, crunchy and flavorful and not limp or cabbage laden--I think they were the Vietnamese ones. Their hot and sour soup we did not care for at all. It tasted like vinegar and chemicals. Ming's Garden has excellent hot and sour and it's near by so buy that there. We will order extra egg rolls and no soup next time. read more

This is a hole in the wall Chinese place that has a large menu including pho. We had seen the place many times as it is next door to our favorite Thai place Thai Issan but have never tried it. We wanted pho today and i immediately thought if this place. It is family run, has plenty of seating for larger parties. The food comes out hot and freshly made which is what I love about these kind of places. The pho was delicious and comforting. Pricing is excellent. Definitely a place I will try again. I came here because it is fairly close to home. I ordered the chicken chow mein, sweet and sour pork and upgraded to the hot and spicy soup over egg drop. The chow mein had zero flavor. The chicken was slimey and repulisive. I couldn't even touch this dish after several bites. It was completely disgusting. This took up more than half of the meal, I had a few pieces of sweet and sour pork left which was decent and the rice was good. It's hard to mess up rice though. The soup was again, absolutely disgusting. I couldn't even eat the majority because it was repulsive. Part of the issue was seeing into their kitchen while they dished up food from dirty crockpots. The other part is that I have had great, quick Chinese Food (Wok King and New Dragon Diner in West Jordan) and this came nowhere close in flavor. read more

We came to Canton Wok because our regular Chinese food place was closed for the holidays. The customer service is excellent, they were very kind and helpful. The food, on the other hand, was nothing special. The Sesame Chicken was tasty but the Kung Pao Chicken was lacking flavors. The Orange Chicken was rather dry. I got a recommend on this place from a friend who said the cream cheese wontons were excellent (and they are indeed!) This is a funky little family operated place in the strip mall next to a grocery store and a karate studio, so it has a great local vibe. The service was friendly and I got a kick out of the "hostess" (who I think may have been the owners young daughter) she was greeting everyone and making sure they had water and napkins. Love this place. We don't come in super often but if we are eating Chinese this is the place we go. First let's start with the egg drop soup. It's to die for, the vegetables they put in it taste so fresh you'd think they grow and pick them right in the back. Next the sesame chicken I feel like when I go to other Chinese restaurants they saturate the chicken with sauce and it makes the bread all soggy. Here they have the perfect combination of sauce to chicken. I can even take it home and it doesn't get soggy. Last let's talk about the service. Like I said before we don't come in to often but I do order the same thing every time, the cute family greets us like we've been friends forever and usually have our order put in before we even order it. I love Canton Wok. The owner always is very nice, gets our food to us quickly weather it's dine in or take out. I love the cream cheese wontons and the king pao chicken. It is different than what most people are used to and not as spicy but still has plenty of flavor. Their sesame chicken and orange chicken are also really good. I usually love the egg drop soup but I only get it if I done in. For some reason it doesn't taste the same as when I order take out. Great food and great service. No, no, no! Ordered delivery here about a week ago. Delivery was quoted to take 45 minutes at most. Our food arrived one hour and fifteen minutes after ordering. On top of that when they got here the delivery driver asked me to go outside and get my food from his car. Kindly declining he brought it up to my door and asked that I tip him. Our Kung P chicken was unlike anything I have ever had. Not even sure it was chicken. Not good at all, nor was it spicy. The cream cheese wontons were disgusting. The cream cheese had a weird taste to it like it was cheap or fat free? The gyoza was good. If I was forced to eat here again, that's the only thing I would trust to order. read more
