I love this place so much I could marry it and have its little noodle offspring. Too far? The restaurant itself is very nice. The decor is fun and gives off a funky, happy, Asian-y vibe. It's always very clean and well stocked. The waitstaff is phenomenal - everyone is extremely knowledgable, helpful and kind. Even when my autistic 6 year old is freaking out that his rice touched his noodles. Everyone here is awesome. And the food. Oh mama. Their crab rangoons are to die for. Or kill for. Or at least seriously maim for. The desserts are unbelievable (specifically the cookie dough wonton things.) And the grill itself has more options than any Mongolian grill I've ever been to (and I have been to many, many grills). Great friendly service, and pretty good food. There are so many different sauces to choose, so if you're a bit of a cook, you can really enjoy your creations. Or you can also screw it up. Not for the COVID conscious!! The food was good, and maybe pre-covid would have enjoyed the experience. There was no social distancing, everything was touched by the customers. Seemed like business resumed as usual but with zero modifications for COVID. I was completely turned off by that. Everything is buffet styled and tongs and the ladles were continuously shared/touched by every patron. God knows how often they even get switched out. Gosh, being back to a full buffet with absolutely no restrictions felt illegal lol. I had visited HuHot a lot in Montana when I used to live there but didn't know there was a location in Utah for the longest time. I finally decided to plan a trip over there. The first time I tried to visit, I was super disappointed as they were closed without any notice. There was no way to know they were closed other than driving all the way out there and noticing a sign on the door as you're about to walk in that says "We apologize for the inconvenience, we're closed today". Super disappointed that day. I later found out they had a rewards program and you get $5 off if you sign up, so I went ahead and did that for my next visit, with hopes they would be open. They were open! It was like 1pm on a Thursday! First impression: the building inside is so awesome!! It is unlike any restaurant I have been to and I was in awe of the decorations and what have you. I got seated and greeted and then went up to get my bowl. One thing that I always love about HuHot is they have the machine with all the different flavors so you are not limited to the basic flavors of drinks! I honestly was a little concerned with how little precaution was being taken within this restaurant. We partied in there like it was 2016. Not a single person was wearing masks, the food was available for everyone to touch, and so fourth. Typically I wouldn't care that much but it was slightly annoying when I put my bowl on the counter for the cook and he put his whole finger in my bowl when he was grabbing it...no gloves or anything. The other cook sneezed right out in the open without covering his mouth or anything. The food was good but I really am slightly concerned with how "back to normal" they have become. I am glad things are opening back up and life is getting back to how it was before but I think we can keep "being sanitary when you work with food" for a bit longer. Honestly, the price is pretty awesome for what you get. You get unlimited drinks and bowls of whatever you would like for under $15. The service was decent but definitely nothing special. Weekday lunch - all you can eat for $8.99. Not bad at all! Just make sure you have at least an hour long lunch if you are going to dine here. It takes about 10 minutes to fill up a bowl and have it cooked by the grill masters because there's usually a line. My classmates and I were able to cook and eat 2 plates each and it still felt a bit rushed with our hour long lunch. One thing I thought was really cool about this place was that they had recipe cards and sauce guides for you to use if you want to make a specific dish or want your dish to be a specific flavor. I followed the sauce guides but added some extra sauce because our waitress recommended adding at least 5 or 6 ladles of sauce to make sure your dish has enough taste and both of my plates turned out really good! read more

I like this place! The meat is kept at the proper temperatures, the fruits and vegetables are plentiful and fresh and the service was good. The best part is the sauce bar, the creations and flavors that are possible is endless. The lunch is $8.99, dinner is $12.99 (after 4), both are all you can eat and come with steamed rice. We love Mongolian Grill! There aren't many I know of in SLC. I was so psyched when HuHot came to my area. I love the fresh variety of meats, sauces & veggies. The staff is friendly but the 2 best things about HuHot is the Freestyle coke variety & the crab wontons. They are a must have!! Best advice: lots of small plates to try different style selections. Great variety of veggie choices with things clearly labeled. The sauce they have a good amount of and it says if it contains soy, is gluten free or is vegan, as well as the calories. Very helpful!!! They have brown rice as an option as well. Yay. They don't get 5 stars because I feel like they needed to come up with a bit better way for the sauces, I saw some people spill a bit of the sauce in to a neighboring sauce. Also, they don't use different spatulas for each person's meal unless you specifically tell them. Cross contamination for sure. My meal was fabulous and I loved it!! read more

We went to HuHot for our first time last week with friends. My husband and I are on keto and we're trying to find something that both our friends and us would like. This place was a good choice! We liked that soup and salad was included in the price and the fact that it was all you can eat. I didn't notice that there is a tower of recipe cards until after we were finished eating, the low carb recipes would have come in handy. The place was busy and we did have to wait in line to have our food grilled for a while but the time did go by pretty quickly. The floors and counters were sticky for dripping bowls which I could understand because they were busy but it would have been nice to see someone trying to stay on top of the cleanliness. Ate here yesterday and honestly, the last Mongolian grill I went to gave me a terrible stomach ache and made me nauseous, so I was a little hesitant to try this one out. The rest of my party was down for AYCE buffet so I came along. Yes it is a self-serve style of picking what you want and putting it into a tiny bowl (protein, noodles, veggies, sauce) and for me, a vegetarian, I was happy there was a large variety of fresh looking veggies to choose from. However, the bowls are so small that you either need to use 2 bowls or play Tetris with how you stack your food because I had veggies falling all over the place...Use 2 bowls, it's definitely the way to go. Another thing, if you have any allergies, go somewhere else! Literally everything on that grill will touch every ingredient they offer. I'm not crazy about meat touching my food as long as I'm not like physically eating the meat, but more strict vegetarians or Kosher customers would definitely have an issue. I will say, I chose the Kung Pao sauce and it was delicious!!! Also, I'm a pretty small person, so in theory AYCE for me isn't really worth it...especially not at $15. I really wanted to eat more to make the price seem worth it, but I just couldn't. Also, for some reason I thought we were there around lunch time where the lunch special is around $11/12 for AYCE, but it was already into dinner so IMO I don't think I got my money's worth (especially since you can't take anything to go). Soooo if you're trying to eat your body weight in food, absolutely come here, it's worth it! But if not, save yourself some $ and go to a different place or buy some of the ingredients and make it at home for cheap + leftovers! read more

A fun idea to begin with... but poorly executed. We were sat in a timely fashion and were greated by a nice young man who effectively explained how things worked. This young man took our drink orders and we were off to the races! Upon arrival of the buffet carts, at first glance it appeared that HuHot was recently visited by some messy patrons. (All sorts of noodles and vegetables mixed together) as well as being strung upon the floor. With closer inspection, it was obvious that there was months worth of dried food squished into the grout between the tile. As if it had been swept nightly but never scrubbed or mopped. Not a huge deal I suppose, so we pressed on. Onto the sauces, the story is much of the same... all mixed together with random objects floating. Sauces splashed up on the sign well above your head (been there since the day they opened no doubt). We pressed on to get into the line of people waiting to get their food cooked. Wading in puddles of spilled sauce, as I watch three incompetent men spill food all over a cooktop. One that had food charred in place and looked as if it had never been properly cooked on or cared for. The straw that broke the camel's back though folks... was the "chef" who was hacking up a lung all over everyone's food with no concern. He even joked aloud about it. On my way out, I expressed my concerns to a manager. He seemed to believe I was crazy for having these concerns.... a place that is ran like this does not deserve your hard earned money. Looked nice from the outside but they should really leave the Mongolian grilling to the Mongolians. We were seated in a both by the window which would have been nice except the table was so incredibly close to the seat that my small boobs nearly had to rest on the table. I'm 5'2" and 140lbs, I'm not a big person and felt very cramped and there was no extra space to push the table closer to my husband or he would have been pinched. A nice waitress took our drink order and we headed for the buffet. It is all you can eat but they only offer one tiny bowl size which made it difficult to fit all the desired toppings in. The buffet was a mess. Food spilled into the trays next to them, food all over the floor and food all over where you would set your bowl while adding meat and veggies. The sauce bar was very sloppy too. There was a person restocking food but no one wiping things down or attempting to tidy up. The worst part was once we got to the grill. They were busy so I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but the 2 cooks clearly didn't know what they were doing. Each bowl was dumped on the grill and left until all the sauce and even some of the noodles had scorched to the cook top. They completely left out the "stir" part of the stir fry. After each persons food was plated the cooks then had to scrape all the burned ingredients off the grill before they could add more. Then, I made the mistake of looking closer at their cooking area. One again there was food all over the floor, food and burned gunk all over the trough under the cook top. The cooks used the top edge off the trough to scrape scorched debris from their spatulas and then used the spatula to slop around the meat and noodles to check if all the meat they had not stirred was cooked before plating it(I guess I'll applaud them for checking). By the time my food was cooked and handed to me I was certain I'd be receiving a complementary colon cleanse with my meal. We nervously made our way back to our oh so cramped booth to try our flavorless ramen, because just like everyone else's our sauces were not stirred into our food they were left there to bubble and scorch and then were sadly scraped into the dark abyss in the center off the grill, I don't even want to imagine what that area looks like or the last time it was cleaned. We took a couple bites and for the first time in my life I got up asked for my check and left a full plate of food on the table. A nice lady (possibly the manager) excused our check but didn't ask why we were leaving without eating. The restaurant was busy but it was clearly full of people who either have very low standards or just don't know how great a GOOD Mongolian grill can be. read more

If I want to make my own meal I'll stay home, but here I did I pretty good job! I really liked it and maybe just got super lucky. It's a cool experience to have. We've been coming since they opened and never had a problem. Yes sometimes the buffet area is a little messy. They were constantly cleaning it. Of you come at peak hours expect to wait for the grill. Dinner is locked at 15$ and anything extra including drinks will cost more. Variety of food I would give it 4 stars, it was just too expensive fire Mongolian style grill. The cooks weren't very entertaining except one worker who juggled his spatula. Other than that you just stand and wait for your food. The sauce section was huge so that is a big plus. It's around $13 per adult, which is higher than normal Mongolian restaurant, but you can come back as much as you can, instead of just one-time-piling-on bowl. True rating is more like a 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up because both times we've been here the service has been great, servers and the grill cooks! First time was a few weeks ago where covid restrictions had servers load up your bowl for you. Today we were able to serve ourselves, which didn't quite sit right with me. Even though they have signs and hand sanitizer everywhere it's still self-enforced. Now for the food...the options seemed limited, but expected under the circumstances. The sauce selection is impressive with tons of options. Most Veggies and proteins tasted fresh. One recommendation would be to keep the grill area cleaner, lots of food flying around but not being picked up often enough. Even saw some of the cooks slip and slide a bit. Overall a great place for a weeknight meal out. We will probably be back soon! read more

I've been going here for about a year now and it's always great. The service and food are fantastic and they even have the 'any flavor soda' option/machine. So you can always have the best drinks. For the Pokemon go players, there is also a pokestop just inside. I've been satisfied with every visit and always come out with a full belly. I consider myself a Mongolian grill enthusiast and am always seeking out these types restaurants in my travels. HuHot is not so hot. The cooks made my food dry out by cooking it on the grill dry, which was the first time I had seen this done. Most cooks I've witnessed who cook food in this style add some water to the grill during cooking to preserve moisture content in the food and I presume provide some type of steaming effect. At HuHot, despite putting in twice the amount of sauce I normally do, my food came out very dry and light on flavor - all the sauce just burns off. I went through the line twice to try and get it right and would have to conclude that cooking food dry on a Mongolian grill is not the way to go. Otherwise, the place has a corporate feel and is not a typical Mongolian hole in the wall. The bowls are pretty small when you go through the line, and I found my food overflowing and the portion not really all that large. Maybe they are trying to eliminate food waste, I don't know. Out of all Mongolian Restaurants I've tried, this one is at the bottom of the pile. That said, a change in the way they cook their food could make a big impact into how I feel. read more

Have eaten there several times. My wife and kids love it. We love the flexibility of choosing your own items to mix. They also help out by suggesting a few different sauce combinations to increase your success rate. We have always received great service there and always seem to run into someone we know from the area. One suggestion I would have is to let people to through with more than one plate and just cook them together. Or give them the option to cook it separately. The HuHot folks say that it just bogs the line down too much to have people go through with more than one plate, but it also bogs down my dinner time when I have to go through 2 or 3 times to get enough veggies. read more

I have been to other HuHot Mongolian restaurants as well and it is pretty much the same as other restaurants anywhere else. The food is in Mongolian style and people who haven't been to Mongolian restaurants will like this style of food for the first time. The food is pretty cheap (~11$) and it is unlimited. You get to make your own food ( so if something doesn't taste well, it is entirely your fault haha) There are almost all kinds of meat available - Chicken, beef, pork, fish, Sausage, Meatballs Almost all kind of veggies are available as well. The sauce section is the best one. I like the Thai peanut sauce and a bunch of other sauces. Most of the times I miss two or three together. Also add Ginger and Garlic broth and they give a good aroma. Don't forget to add more oil, because it will make the food less sticky when they fry it in the big pan. I'll never eat here again! The health department needs to visit this place! So disgusting and unsanitary!!! To start off there was food on the ground everywhere! I stepped in a pile of noodles. Everything around the food tables was a mess!! The grill where the chefs cook was even worse! They barely clean it to avoid cross contamination and after they flip your food they swipe there spatula under the grill and the part where they swipe it is oozing with old greasy junk!!! I have been to different HuHot Mongolian grill before . I came to this one on a date, first of all they had placed us at a table that other people were already sitting out.... awkward . When they got that fix we went to get out food, the line wasn't to bad. When we came back with our food our soup and rice was already there. They soup was really watered down I even added some soy sauce to it but it still didn't help give it more flavor and the rice was terrible cold and mushy. The only really decent part was the grilled food itself but not by much. Especially for how much they are charging ~$13. For sure will not be coming back read more
