Once we paid our ticket, our waiter ignored us for the rest of the time we were still sitting there. Nobody in front to greet when I was there. After several minutes a girl came up and seated me in the very corner of the restraunt. Said my waiter would be right with me. After 8 or 9 minutes of sitting there the hostess came back and got me a water since the waiter haven't even been there yet. Mind you the restraunt had a total of 4 table in it when I arrived. An empty reatraunt if you will. I finally go to get my food. After I was finished eating the waiter who had not been by me once finally came by to refill my water and bring me my check. He said he would be back in a minute to take my payment. This was at 11:57. At 12:23 I hold up my receipt and start waving it as it had been almost a half an hour since I last saw my waiter. I just want to pay and leave. I then find out they do not accept tap to pay or chip readers. Its 2025 who doesn't accept those forms of payment. Anyway, I ask for a manager, because at tis point its been a terrible experience through and through. The manager comes up and promptly ask me how im going to pay before I even say a word. I said why dont we start with this whole experience and then let's work out how we will take care of the bill. I dont get 3/4 of the way through explaining my experience before she snatched the bill up and tells me to leave and never come back. Why? Because I asked why it took almost a half and hour from the time I recieved my bill and was able to get my inattentive waiters attention? I was not raising my voice i was just trying to explain my situation and your management acts like that? She doesn't have to ever ask me to not come back, because I will do that all on my own. My whole family loves this place. Service is hit or miss, but it's a Mongolian grill where you pick your dish and they cook it in front of you. Given that I have a large family it's a fast easy way for everybody to get what they want. My kids love picking out their own food and because everything is grilled it's a nice healthier option from fast food. It's fun to experiment with the different sauces. I absolutely love HuHot. Superior to other similar Mongolian grills that set limits on portions and have so much less to choose from. Multiple meat options beyond chicken, beef and pork - things like sausage, Turkey, shrimp and more. So many vegetables. They have at least 20 different sauces and they have multiple buckets of same sauces plus things at the end to add like soy sauce, sesame seeds, pepper, nuts etc. The service is fast and their grill is bigger than theirs competitor's. Coolest. Place. Ever. This was my first time at any Mongolian grill and HuHot did not disappoint. My friends and I walked in and were seated immediately. After the waiter explained how the restaurant works we jumped up ready to get our first plates. It's a buffet style grill. You choose your noodles, toppings, and sauces. The cool thing is that they have tons of options and even have little recipe cards if you need ideas. I decided to make it up as I went. Usually I'm pretty picky, but everything was labeled well so I wasn't nervous about trying anything. You can go up as many times as you want and we definitely took advantage of that. If not for the food then for the banter from the cooks. They had three cooks around a giant circle grill and they were hilarious. I could sit and listen to them all day. They got us all involved in the conversation and made the experience even more fun than it already was. I wish I lived closer to a HuHot grill - I'd go all the time! read more

I'm not a frequent commenter but I was SO VERY IMPRESSED I had to speak up! I saw the cooks take so much precaution, twice, for guests with food allergies. They really went above and beyond. AND THEN, a woman near me had gotten some raw bean sprouts from the self serve area and when a cook noticed she didn't want them cooked, she offered to get FRESH ones from the kitchen just in case the ones she had were cross contaminated! So disappointed:( tried this for the first time and it was just a bad experience altogether. First, while we were waiting for our food to be cooked they open the bottom of the wok and take out a bucket full of the dirty water they use to clean the wok and eggshells. So gross! Your get the joy of standing while waiting for your food. So, ultimately, you pay them to have you go up to the counter, pick out your food which you stand around and wait for. The bus boy came over and wiped the table next to me off onto the floor and never picked it up the mess. After several minutes one of their staff walked over the 6 pink packs of artificial sweetener, chops sticks and straws, I told the waiter about the bus boy and then he picked up half the mess on the floor. HuNotGoingToEatThereAgain! My wife and I arrived at HuHot hungry, and were seated quickly. Unfortunately, the speed in which we were seated was the only thing that went right that evening. After waiting at our table for roughly five minutes with no interaction from the waitstaff, I flagged a guy down to order some drinks. He seemed genuinely concerned that nobody had taken our drink order yet, and was quick to make us happy. I'm willing to overlook the poor service aspect of our dinner, because the restaurant is new, and the staff is likely still being trained. Fine, whatever. Plus, I have plenty more pressing issues to complain about. Here's how HuHot works: First, you're seated and (hopefully) asked for your drink orders. Then you're off to the buffet line where you pick what you want in your stir fry. Here's where things turned sour. You grab a bowl and head to the first stop in the buffet line: the proteins. Thin strips of chicken, beef, shrimp, and salmon sit frozen -- yes, FROZEN -- in pans waiting to be selected. Frozen. WTF? Even people with the most basic culinary knowledge know that you don't cook frozen meat, you thaw it first. Otherwise you end up scorching the outside to get the frozen inside cooked to temperature, resulting in a jerky-like consistency. (And yes, the beef had the consistancy of a bag of Jack Link's.) Aside from the culinary disgrace of the meat situation, it's simply unappetizing to look at a giant bucket filled with frozen meat. What a bad way to start the experience off. The next stop on the line is your noodle choice. That's right -- if you want a rice-based stir fry, you're out of luck. Your only option is is 3 different types of noodles. (After I sat down with my stir fry completed, I noticed the menu mentioned something about asking for a bowl of rice, which may or may not cost extra, but I digress...) I chose the standard chinese noodles, and moved onto the veggies and sauces. I piled my bowl as high as humanly possible with mushrooms, onions, carrots, and other veggie delights, and poured the recommended 4-5 ladles of my sauce choice into the overflowing bowl before making my way to the community cook top. At this point, you hand your bowl filled with veggies and frozen meats to the "chef" who takes it over to a large, flat cook top where everyone else's dishes are also being cooked, community style. You stand around and watch them toss and turn your selection, and he hands it back to you when it's done. This will most likely be the point in the night when you say to yourself, "I waited in line for 15 minutes for THIS?" as you look down at your once bountiful-looking selection of vegetables that has been cooked down to a pile of stir fry who's portions make it look like it belongs on the kid menu. Pro tip: fill two bowls up on your first run-through, otherwise you're going to have to go back through the entire lengthy process again (yes, you can go back as many times as you want for the $11 cover charge) when you're finished with your first tiny portion -- and I'm no fat ass. I suppose I should tell you about the worst part of the meal now. Both times I went through the process and had my stuff stir fried, I found bits of other people's veggie/meat selection in my own when it was handed back to me after cooking. Both times! That's not an anomaly, folks. And worse, the second time, someone's discarded shrimp tail made its way into my meatless stir fry. This is when I stopped eating, asked for the check, and left. Disgusting. The bottom line: HuHot is a poorly-executed novelty. You might have the urge to try it out, but I'd be surprised if you walk away satisfied. The fact that you can return to the buffet as many times as you want for $11 makes the price reasonable, but the quality and condition of the food you receive is mediocre at best. Wow, from the reviews I see this is either a love it or hate it kind of place. I'll give it a solid 3.5, rounded up to 4 because others are so silly and mean. (Hello - you can't judge a restaurant in MO by Cali standards.) Well, Imma try to give it a fair shake. I went tonight with my cousin and a friend of hers and we all had an alright experience. I didn't think it was expensive as it's basically a clean, new, upscale all-you-can-eat Mongolian grill that only cost $12 a person for dinner. I noticed the other menu items were expensive but, we didn't order any of those. Solves that problem. Now, I was surprised to see the meats were frozen but, it didn't take away from the fun and flavor so, I was ok with it after a few seconds of thought. I liked that they had menus of sauces that you could mix and well written descriptions that included things like spiciness and hidden flavors. I had 2 small plates, both of which turned out well enough. Mostly though, it's the fun of doing everything yourself and then turning it over to the fun of the grill. My tip is to take 2 bowls and load the first with items that take longer to cook (meats, sturdy veggies, noodles) and the second with delicate items that you flash fry (spinach, bean sprouts, cilantro, etc). They'll seperate it for you and cook it to order. :) I wouldn't rush back as I prefer Soo's for Korean BBQ to Mongolian BBQ but, definitely wouldn't mind going back with a group of friends if they wanted.
