The view from the tiny porch.

Hull's Kitchen is a seasonal restaurant on Nantasket Beach in what used to be a single family cottage, complete with wrap around porch. It's wedged between a big resort hotel parking lot and three crappy bar/fried food/view/get-your-sloppy-drunk-on joints. There's plenty of parking (on the strip and behind on the other strip), a great view, and a decent loo. If I were Yelping on a curve, this would be a five. But I'm not. Hull's Kitchen is a solid three. It's good enough that I've been a few times and would come back but not great. It can be fun if you get a decent table when there's live music. The food is good, sometimes better than others. This past visit, the pepper roasted sweet potatoes were excellent. But because it always feels like camping out, the prices seem a little high. All the eating is done outside on the porch at wooden tables. Everything is paper or plastic: the utensils, the plates, the cups. Even the salt and pepper come in little to-go packets. I guess this is the business model -- fast and easy (but not cheap). I don't mind this so much when I'm eating a taco, but when I'm spending $22 for a seafood salad, I want a real plate and a real fork. And it always bugs me with a cocktail. This most recent visit, I got the pomegranate margarita, which was deliciously sour, almost perfect, but it came in a flimsy little (very little) cup, like kindergarten. This isn't a wild place. This isn't a place people come to get drunk. It's for old farts, with some guy warbling classic rock on the back deck. No one is going to go crazy, including me. Give me a real glass. I promise I won't launch it at passing cars.

The food was incredible. My boyfriend and I loved the vegetarian tacos and the salad! The drinks were pretty good too and we played chutes and ladders

Jane and her family are great! Friendly, courteous, welcoming and they take great care to never cross contaminate my food (shellfish and gluten allergies...real ones). The salsa is so fresh! 3 ingredients, love it. I don't eat the fried fish although I've brought many friends who have and have loved it. HK changes their oil daily and from my friend's experiences it is obvious (the fried food there also looks cleaner than at other places). The good is always fresh, the view is great, sunsets can't be beat. Live music is lovely, scenery full of vibrancy and people having beach fun. Love this place!

If you're unlucky enough to catch them when they're open, you'll regret it. Overpriced garbage.

Came in town for 2 days and decided to try place near our hotel. The Food was sub par. Waitress nice. Manager very rude. Don't recommend.

The menu doesn't look particularly amazing, standard-ish pub fare (steak tips, fish&chips, mac&cheese) but they do them EXTREMELY well. The tips were tender and flavorful, the sneaky star of the entree was the salad with feta though. I'm pretty sure the feta was marinated in whatever outstanding salad dressing they use. The havarti grilled cheese with avocado, garlic aioli and fried egg...C'mon. You have to spend the extra $2 for the bacon jam, you will not regret it. I'm sure we've all seen truffle fries right? Some bullshit frozen garbage either drowned in cheap truffle oil, or "dusted" with truffle salt. Well, they don't do that crap here, however they do garlic fries. Hand cut, with whole cloves of roasted garlic all over. Not one or two cloves, like several heads worth of glorious, slow-roasted garlic. I managed to scrounge a couple spoonfuls of the kids mac&cheese from my son, almost lost a finger in the attempt and I found out why. They put just as much effort into the kids food as the adults. If you need a break from your witchy business in Salem, definitely stop in here.

I got the mocktail version and it was so tasty. The live music they had this night started at 9 and was super funky. You can't really have conversations during it, it's very loud, so don't go there if you're trying to have deep conversations instead of vibing to some music lol. Overall I would go back for drinks and music again!

To start, the service was awesome, the waitresses were down to earth but made sure we had everything we needed and then some- including some extra chips to bring home with our unfinished buffalo chicken dip. The place was as the name suggests...snug. But the intimate environment was all the better with the live entertainment! Nothing really beats watching a local artist playing acoustic guitar and singing "You've Got a Friend in Me" over some good eats. I ordered the Cape Cod Rueban which is your typical Rueban toppings but a golden fried filet of haddock, on a toasted brioche bun. I was honestly blown away by this sandwich. All the ingredients were so fresh. Both of us were very satisfied with the quality of the food, the huge portions, and the reasonable bill compared to other establishments in the area. For all this plus 2 drinks, we were looking at $70. If we are ever back this way, we will definitely stop in again to try some new entrees!

The Snug is taking a stand for the neighborhood pub. A bar three rows deep where you can get a well-poured Guinness on tap and listen to live music. Servers are all polite. The lean into the neighborhood piece is for real -- I think I saw a high school date there one time. Food is pub fare. Steak tips and burgers are go-to's. Don't try to look for fancy, please don't. Deconstructed chicken pot pie would just be wrong.
