Watch your check! There is no taco Tuesday. "Must be the same taco, same order" lol. The sign on the sidewalk brings you in for half price tacos but they neglect to tell you it must be the same taco and if you order more of the same taco, that doesn't count. We will never go again. This happened twice in a row we just didn't check our first bill. read more

My husband and I frequent the Galley and it is always a great experience. Last night was no exception. I have been hearing their craft cocktails are amazing so I tried their spicy Paloma. OMG!! his evening my friend and I, both in our late 60's were walking by the Galley and saw they had live music. We both thought it was a great idea to have a drink at the bar and listen to the music. We both ordered prickly pear margaritas. When they arrived they were magenta. I took one sip and realized that the drink had no or very little alcohol and was sweet to an extreme. Bartender #1 made the drink and she asked us how we liked our drinks. I said nothing. My friend said it was too sweet. Bartender #1 didn't ask for permission but took the sour mix and poured into my friend's drink. We both drank one fourth of our drinks like we typically do when there is obviously very little alcohol in our drinks and ordered a shot. Bartender #1 told us it was illegal to serve a shot in MA with a mixed drink. I verbalized that I believed she was mistaken. I told her I saw her serve shot to two young women across from us. Bartender #1 went to bartender #2 and obviously told her to deal with us (nice old ladies). We were not intoxicated. The two young women I witness being served with drinks and shots were observed by me to be extremely intoxicated (no judgement - just an observation). Bartender #2 came over and we ordered a shot. She repeated what bartender #1 said. I told her that I believed her information was incorrect and address the discrepancy between how we were being treated and how the young women were being treated. Bartender #2 then verbally assault me and said we had to leave (because we didn't like our drinks and wanted to pay for a shot) I will never go back to the Galley. There are so many other joyous palaces to enjoy a drink in Scituate. They don't all serve great drinks but I have never gotten push back when I have ordered and paid for a side shot. Some even say sorry you didn't like the drink. I never ask for anything for free. I understand that it is difficult to be a server. I am not a difficult person. I have a Massachusetts State Identification Card, a valid form of identification in MA per MA law, and was refused service by two blonde bartenders. If you have a disability and can't drive, then don't go to The Galley. I'm 28 and never have been refused service because of my MA ID in my 7 years of going to restaurants and bars. I walked into there to get a cup of water after my friend was DENIED a water. I was completely sober and wanted to help my friend out and the bartender (blonde) wouldn't even acknowledge me. Once she did she slammed my cup on the bar and said nothing. TERRIBLE SERVICE WOULD NOT GO. read more

I would never go here again for food. The Birria taco had absolutely no flavor. They didn't even serve chips and salsa. The macaroni balls were good but have nothing to do with Mexican food so kind of confusing. The bartender was nice and it's nothing against the service here at all everyone was very friendly but we left hungry and pretty upset we paid 100$ for a few drinks and tiny bland bites. The Galley used to be a great restaurant on the south shore. The recently went through a renovation and overhaul of their menu. Ambiance and decor--this place used to rock a cute coastal/nautical feel. With the redesign, it feels more at place on Nantasket Beach. It definitely feels less like high-end eatery and more like a casual, sandy-feet sort of place, which is fine, but the prices don't reflect that. Also, for however much money they sunk into renovations, there's still no changing table in the bathroom. Parents definitely aren't welcome. Menu--the menu is downright confusing. It's Mexican/Baja-inspired food, but also sort of tapas, but also general American fare with salads and fried Mac and cheese bites. Also there are the prerequisite oysters. The tacos were flavorless, and the patatas bravas weren't served with any salsa brava. They were basically just home fries, no spiciness whatsoever. Overall the food tasted bland, portions felt small but were presented as intentionally petite under the guise of "tapas," and prices didn't reflect any sort of upgraded food quality, decor, or luxe experience. Service was slow when we were there, but I won't hold that against them. They were clearly training some new servers, so that's always good. I was there on a Saturday afternoon when they would've been packed in the old days. The place was deserted. I definitely feel like this place is past it's prime and is slowly sinking against the other restaurants in the area. I'll give this place another shot, since they may still be finding their footing, but the redesign/rebrand/reworking have left me feeling pretty lackluster so far. read more

Me and my husband walked in to have a cocktail. I am from Marshfield and I moved to Scituate recently. We sat at the bar and waited a few minutes for the bartender (Kate). She then came over and we ordered our drinks. I asked her what the WIFI password was and her answer was " I have no idea how that works" she made me feel as if I was bothering her, or She had no interest in us and I felt like we weren't even there. I felt very uncomfortable and she had no personal skills as a bartender. She never even came over to ask us if we wanted any food. I had to ask her what time does the kitchen close. we have been there before and had a wonderful experience and returned because of that visit, But tonight we were very disappointed.. First trip for dinner, I didn't like Galley. Snagged two seats at the raw bar, which felt abandoned and only staffed when shellfish were ordered. A half dozen oysters were ours, and most had chips, grit and no liquor. Fried oyster and pulled pork sliders were dry and bun-disintegrating wet, respectively. But something brought us back! It's just too damn inviting, and the menu (esp for brunch) was too tempting. So we returned, and found the open air seating - and the duck hash and eggs - to be excellent. Unfortunately, brunch is no longer served! Egads. Thankfully... We popped in for game 7 of the Stanley Cup (spoiler: we lost), and had an outstanding pile of pulled pork nachos, and a baller Widowmaker Sens Lives session IPA. Meaty Gold Fever wings (honey mustard/BBQ sawce) were a steal at 50c a piece. It may have been a special menu, but methinks Galley has found its rhythm in the kitchen. With a killer local beer list and a crazy comfortable atmosphere, it's back in our heavy rotation. read more

I was over the moon when we found this place! Galley Kitchen & Bar is an adorable modern gastropub in Scituate that has fun by-the-sea themed decors in every corner and a separate little bar area for the raw bar experience. The front of the restaurant are all windows so during the warmer weathers, they'll remove them giving you that open, airy space to enjoy your tapas style plates. Duck Drumlettes- Perfectly-glazed and tender meat. Grilled Shrimp- Uniquely marinated with some herbs and lemon. Pretty good. Although I felt like it was missing something; perhaps a bit of a garlic to enhance the flavor. Overall Service: It was a little quiet around mid-afternoon which was totally fine so we could sit back and relax while taking this place in. The bartender was personable and energetic making our experience there more pleasurable. read more

Was told a 35 minute wait for a table and waited an hour. Went in excited to try it here and left pretty disappointed. 2 "waygu" sliders and fries for 18$? Advertised poorly I thought it was $8 for 2 sliders +$2 for fries. Definitely not waygu beef at all. Very overcooked and smaller than my tiny palm. Fries were also overdone. Definitely just overpaid for 2 kids frozen burgers. Server was unattentive and did not ask how things were. Would not reccomend/will not be back. I never write reviews as I am a waitress myself and can understand off days, however this was one of my worst dining experiences. I understand COVID can be harsh on these workers so I understand the bad service however don't charge absurd amounts for frozen kids meals. read more

Guacamole and beer can chicken tacos were delicious. The only reason this isn't a five star review was that the service was slow while the restaurant itself was not completely busy. We tried this resturant this past week for the second time since it had been several years since we were there and was not happy with it then so thought we would try it again to see it had improved their menu but we were wrong. Pretty much the same but now offered fish and chips. Since I am lactose intolerant it's difficult to find offerings on their menu that didn't include cheese. This dish had a large portion of haddock, french fries and cole slaw. The fish tasted very salty but the fries seemed freshly made, not frozen, and the slaw was tasty but different from the slaw served other places. The restaurant has an open glass wall on the street that makes it noisy from the passing traffic and flies come in and try to land on the food. so you spend your time trying to flick flies off your plate. The service was ok but she did not come to ask how everthing was until the end of the meal. The day after dinning there my husband and I were not feeling well. We were pretty sure it may have been the meal from the day before. We don't plan to revisit this restaurant again. read more

Oh wow. This place is so unclean. I highly recommend you don't order anything from the raw bar. We were there last Friday night. Sat at the raw bar. Ordered the poke. If I had looked at the bar area before I ordered, I never would have even taken a bite. The young man working it was pleasant but he did not clean anything between orders. The cutting board, the knives, the clothes, etc. he did change his gloves between orders. The hand washing sink behind him was filthy. And the poke smelled rancid. Poor guy didn't even have a chain mail to protect his hands from oyster shucking. He cut his hand twice while I was there. The upstairs was a filthy mess. Went up there to use the second bathroom (which shocker...was filthy) and the rooms up there were jammed with a mess of dirty boxes and supplies. Nope, not going back. read more

I went to the Galley Kitchen & Bar after viewing the huge waves generated from Tropical Storm Jose. It was misty and pretty raw out, and the clam chowder really hit the spot. It was chock full of clams, and the broth had fresh thyme in it. The french fries were perfectly crispy and some of the best I've ever had. The waiter was very nice, as was everyone there. There was a large beer menu, and the atmosphere was upbeat and fun. I loved the driftwood chandelier and the huge hanging lobstah. I definitely would like to return. read more

I came here with friends while visiting the area. I hate oysters but they have quite the selection and everything was fresh. I did have shrimp and fish and it was so good!! Drinks are great. If you are looking for an app to try get the hog shanks or the duck leg, YOU WON'T REGRET IT. Everything is seasoned very well and if you get tacos you can choose styles in which they mix up toppings and can add things like pineapple. Fun atmosphere too! I've been here many many times and have never been disappointed! It's usually very busy, not matter what night of the week, and it is worth the wait! The oysters are fantastic. The tuna appetizer is the best I've ever had. You know how sometimes you have an awesome dish and the next time it isn't as good? Not the case here! The tuna has been just as fabulous every time I have ordered it. The tapas are all great. I recommend the grilled shrimp, truffle potatoes and the lamb. I share those three because those are what I have to order when I go there. Drinks? Can't go wrong! Awesome beer and wine list. If you're looking for a classic dark and stormy, egg white and all, try it! Screaming Seagull is another drink that is a must try! Slight blueberry flavor but not too sweet. Good food, good feel, good drink. A Scituate surprise. Galley is essentially a small plates tapas place in a storefront space wedged (approximately) between a yogurt shop and an optometrist on Front Street in what is known as "the harbor" of Scituate. The actual harbor is over a block away, across the street and behind the strip of stores (anchored by CVS) on the other side of a large municipal parking lot. This is to say that although Galley is very close to the water, it isn't a waterfront restaurant. Scituate already has two direct waterfront eating/drinking/gawking establishments where diners can nosh and oh-gosh the view of boats and lighthouse and sky and water, a view that is gorgeous. But those places serve tired uninspired food. The menus are boring, the execution worse. Not gonna name them, but suffice it to say the view is the allure. Not that I don't love a view -- I do -- but maybe I love Galley because there's no view. The owners -- also of Tinker's Son in Norwell and Bia Bistro in Cohasset -- have carved out a space where residents go to eat and drink and relax (and sometimes listen to live music). I'm avoiding the term townies lest you think this is a hack for locals. It's not. Galley could hold it's own in the city. These owners took a space that has failed many a proprietor -- poor Finn -- and re-imagined it in context of the larger world. Thank you! The restaurant is small -- think of that optician's office -- but makes such clever use of the space that it feels sufficient and comfortable and efficient and leisurely and all at the same time. The whole front is floor to ceiling windows. They open in warm weather and close in cold with options for partial openings or early closings depending on weather and mood. There's nothing quite like eating and drinking in the salt air in summer. Along the wall to the right is a full bar with beautiful layout of bottles and lacquered wood. It angles so there are plenty of seats and a couple of TVs for those inclined but the TVs are never the focus. Galley is designed for socializing. All over there are plenty of tables for diners. In the center, there's an island hightop with seating on both sides. Toward the back, a booth-like table for six or more diners, in a cubby space, in case you want quiet. On the left, more tables, both low and high. And then to the far left, a raw bar, with seating for maybe 8 to 10. And to the left, again, more bar-like seating against the wall, all with clever decor. A space that could seem small or uninteresting has been fully utilized so that every nook feels comfy, so that there's something for every taste, which brings me to the menu. It has evolved as it adapts to success to avoid failure. The duck flatbread is good. The lamb is good. The last taco I had was really good -- but these change so pay attention to ingredients and price when ordering. The potato skins are just okay, kinda pricy. The pork slider good, the pickled vegetables really good. The food variety is hard to exhaust -- I'd be surprised if you couldn't find something you like -- really like -- but I hope that the menu keeps evolving without devolving to fried bar food (which is easy to get elsewhere). The beer selection is great, including Dale's Pale Ale on draft. They serve good wine (or so I hear!). They make excellent cocktails consistently, one drink to the next, one bartender to the next, one day to the next. The Whiskey Sour -- really a Boston Sour -- is to die for. Sunday's Bloody Mary bar is legendary. Easy parking on the street -- this is a small town -- or in the municipal lot behind the CVS. I've resisted Yelping the Galley even though I've been here at least a dozen times. Maybe because it's so close to home. Maybe because I like it so much, despite its flaws. Real quick... service was excellent, she was attentive but not over bearing.. food was phenomenal. Oysters were so fresh you could taste the ocean. My husband got the fish and ships, the haddock melted in your mouth! Then I got the small plate grilled shrimp, it was amazing.. so flavorful! The bar was half way full when we got there at 11:;45am, now we understand why!!Looking forward to going back soon!! read more

My husband and I have been to the Galley a few times and always leave hungry...not because the food is bad...on the contrary the food is delicious but the portions are tiny (I know it's tapas) and the prices are high for the amount you get. I realize ordering several tapas to share is the idea but then the meals becomes expensive pretty quick! On our last visit I ordered a quinoa salad (delicious)and a chicken taco. My husband ordered a cup of clam chowder and a lobster slider. Everything was delicious but small portions. Hubby loves the extensive beer list and the drinks are creative and yummy. We do go back (also live the cool atmosphere) but not as often as we normally would though. I wish they also offered something more substantial if you are hungry, like a full sandwich at lunch. read more
