Yesterday, while much of the East Coast was getting a too early in the season snow-fall we on the South Shore had high winds and a raging rain-storm. Late in the day, hubby and I took a drive to Nantasket Beach in Hull to watch the surf. The waves were high and pounding and it was exciting to be there with all the drama of Mother Nature unfolding before us. While there we ran into another couple we know who'd had the same idea. Chatting outside in a rain-storm with high winds is difficult so we decided to run across the street and grab a beer together at Daddy's Beach Club. I'll start by saying that I'm not a dive bar kind of a gal. No offense at all to those who are, but I've yet to find one that leaves me wanting to linger. This place was no exception. We walked in bedraggled and wet and perhaps that alone made this the perfect place to be. No one batted an eye at us as we bellied up to the bar. What this place does have going for it, was a friendly bartender and an eccentric assortment of fellow bar-flies who chatted us up. There were a few beers on tap, nothing thrilling though and a menu with typical bar food fare. We each ordered a beer and then a large mushroon and onion pizza. Our friends also ordered some jalapeno poppers and mozzarella sticks. Things came out of the kitchen a little too quickly for comfort. I didn't eat the sticks or poppers but the word was they were so-so. The pizza was a huge thing and was just okay. I had a couple of slices and called it a day.. It's a big space, with all kinds of twinkling lights and stuff hanging off of every rafter. It's very dim in there and I noted a small stage. Apparently some evenings, local bands play there. I felt glad that I didn't have to use the loo because it seemed like the kind of place you might not like what you find in there but in all fairness, I didn't see it so it could be clean as a whistle. While we were there music played in the background with some of the patrons trying to guess what year each song was from. We had a pleasant time catching up with our friends as we dried off. We enjoyed chatting with the bartender too but honestly, this is a place I don't think any of us would rush back to visit. We keep hoping Hull is going to surprise us one of these days with a great place to go, bar or restaurant. Sadly, that time has yet to come. We'll stick with the beach.

Best pizza! God here at least once a week for the 6 dollar dine in cheese pizza. Fun place with fun people.

    Veggie pizza no cheese. Unbelievable!

Me and boyfriend always come to Hull to catch some waves and eat some good food. We hadn't been to daddy's and are so glad we gave it a try. We don't really eat cheese and we're worried it would be hard to order a pizza without cheese that tasted good. This pizza exceeded expectations. Unfortunately my boyfriend is a faster eater than me and got about 7 and a half of the 10 slices. My two were unbelievable though !! The waitress told us a large topically yields take out boxes but that didn't happen we finished every last slice.

The worst french fries I've ever had. How is it even possible to mess up french fries :( My old high school cafeteria served better fries...

Pizza and wings are pretty darn good. Been twice and never had any issues with the staff. Kind of a dive bar setting with an ocean view.

No thrills at this beachside bar. Fountain coke in a Thin, plastic, clear party cup withh a straw. Good ratio of soda/syrup.

The pizza is a New Haven style and I can honestly say it is better than the pizza in New Haven.

To start, the service was awesome, the waitresses were down to earth but made sure we had everything we needed and then some- including some extra chips to bring home with our unfinished buffalo chicken dip. The place was as the name suggests...snug. But the intimate environment was all the better with the live entertainment! Nothing really beats watching a local artist playing acoustic guitar and singing "You've Got a Friend in Me" over some good eats. I ordered the Cape Cod Rueban which is your typical Rueban toppings but a golden fried filet of haddock, on a toasted brioche bun. I was honestly blown away by this sandwich. All the ingredients were so fresh. Both of us were very satisfied with the quality of the food, the huge portions, and the reasonable bill compared to other establishments in the area. For all this plus 2 drinks, we were looking at $70. If we are ever back this way, we will definitely stop in again to try some new entrees!

The Snug is taking a stand for the neighborhood pub. A bar three rows deep where you can get a well-poured Guinness on tap and listen to live music. Servers are all polite. The lean into the neighborhood piece is for real -- I think I saw a high school date there one time. Food is pub fare. Steak tips and burgers are go-to's. Don't try to look for fancy, please don't. Deconstructed chicken pot pie would just be wrong.
