What a great find! Solid beer here, their NEIPA was excellent! We had the Buffalo cauliflower and a sausage ricotta pizza, both were darn good. The pizza was cooked perfectly except for one slice, it wasn't raw or anything but it could have used a little more time. Overall we really enjoyed it! Big, clean, modern facility with indoor and outdoor seating. -- Patty Melt: Surprisingly willing and able to serve one medium rare, and with the requisite griddled bread. Impressive contrast between the patty's crusted exterior and still-juicy interior. Arguably overdone on the outside, but I'll take that all day every day as long as the juiciness is there. Moderate amount of butter on the Texas toast standing in for rye. Somewhat-traditional condiments, but with a few liberties taken (caramelized onion, cheddar jack, bacon). Not elite, but solid enough job and probably among the better patty melts I've had on my recent quest. -- CH Cheeseburger: Tried twice, this wasn't just a good cheeseburger for the 'burbs or a good cheeseburger for a brewery. This is a good cheeseburger, period, and a very good one. The first thing I really like about it is that it's a thick, full-size patty, and not the overexposed smashburger that's made the thick ones nearly extinct. The second is that they understand and deliver on the concept of textural contrast: crusty exterior and pink, very juicy interior. They also season it just enough to notice, butter that griddled bun just enough to notice, and don't screw up the vegetable additions. The cheese is there but unremarkable. The bun is soft and flexible. Overall, one of the best burgers in MetroWest and Worcester. -- Fries: The frozen variety, neither great nor horrific. They got the job done. -- Beer: I like their offerings, led by their flagship Juice Freak, served properly in attractive glassware. Bought another car up this way and keeping with my tradition from a couple years ago, I decided to visit cold harbor again; this time at their new beautiful location. Got there on a Thursday at 5:30 and could barely park it was so full. I was worried about a big wait but it turns out there was a party in their back room space (that looked amazing BTW). We were greeted and seated right away and our server Olivia T came right over. She never stopped hustling the whole night! Beer was still great, one click off the big boys but noble contenders in the mass beer game. The food was, quite honestly, nothing to look at but the flavor was pretty good. The avocado on the turkey burger looked like it came out of a bottle, but it tasted great. The corn salsa on the burger was also delicious, just wished there was a tiny bit more. I've been really torn about Cold Harbor Brewing. The space is fantastic with plenty of options for seating - bar, high tops, booths, tables. They have a great outdoor patio in the summer. I'm a big fan of Juice Freak, so that's always my brew of choice. They have fantastic menu options and it feels more upscale than bar food. Everything about it would be 5 stars except I have been here 4-5 times and have always had frustrations with the service. Waiting too long for a table, waiting too long for the server, not having anywhere to sit outside, etc. That said, the meh service won't keep me from coming back because the drinks, food & atmosphere have won me over. read more

We hadn't tried a new brewery in a long time so we decided to check this one out recently. We went early on a Sunday afternoon and the place was pretty busy, it seems like a lot of families were having lunch. We sat at the bar as we weren't planning on eating. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had other drink options besides beer. My husband ordered the 'speedway' and I ordered a French Toast White Russian. We decided to get an appetizer and ordered the chicken tenders. The chicken tenders had a choice of flavors so we picked the barbecue and garlic parm. We enjoyed our drinks, but the tenders were very disappointing. We were expecting the tenders came with sauce for dipping but they were just cooked with those flavors and were kind of dry. For food, we started with the pretzel bites. They were hot and crisp and went nicely with the beer cheese and mustard dip. My husband and I split the sausage and ricotta pizza. We cannot speak highly enough of Cold Harbor Brewing! We held my daughter's graduate school graduation party here at the end of May, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. Throughout the planning process, we worked with the owner, Will, and General Manager, Andrew, who was organized, responsive, and incredibly helpful. Communication was always prompt, and he made sure every detail was addressed leading up to the event. On the day of the party, Bobby, Stan, and Jordan were outstanding. They helped everything run seamlessly and were always available whenever we needed assistance. Their knowledge of the venue and event hosting made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. The food was delicious! Our guests enjoyed various appetizers, pizza, chicken parmesan and pasta primavera. The cookies and brownies served warm from the oven for dessert were a particular highlight and the perfect ending to a wonderful celebration. We got sat in the bar area with my grandson. We ordered pretzel bites to start .. our waitress brought a bowl of fries. .... I didn't say anything and we just ate them. We ordered and then proceeded to wait 45 minutes for our dinner which all came out cold. The waitress was over setting up for a big party and never came back. I don't really get the vibe it's "beer infused" pizza dough since I don't get much beer flavor from it, unless the toppings just mask it. Brought my wife and our 8 month old daughter because we had a free afternoon and we'd liked the beer in cans bought from a package store. We had the new fried calamari, ahi tuna appetizer, and short rib poutine with fries. My recommendation is the poutine- something definitely new that you probably haven't tasted!! The short rib is very soft and the crunchiness of the perfect fries makes it a great combination. As always a beautiful place that's always lively and loud. Truly outrageous customer treatment--this review is worth the read. I sent an email to the President and Founder after posting the review below to be sure he was aware and hoping he would address the situation in a more positive way. See his response to me in the photos below. We held my wife's 60th birthday party at Cold Harbor last Saturday. At the end of the event, I was presented with a bill that seemed way off, but I was leaving with my guests, so I decided to sign it and check it when I got home. Upon inspection, according to the bill we received for $6,377 (including a 20% -- $1,004 gratuity that was automatically added to the bill that I had never agreed to in advance), a group of 44 people with an average age of 55 attending a 60th birthday party on a Saturday afternoon somehow managed to consume the following: Twelve bottles of wine (60 five oz. glasses of wine) 57 pain killers 31 speedway lagers 24 juicy freak beers; and 4 Titos vodkas. For a total of 176 drinks or an average of 4 drinks per person. In addition, according to the bill (other than the water which was observed) they drank: a massive container of water 8 pineapple juices 6 diet cokes 5 coffees 4 club sodas; and, 3 cokes. In reality, five people did not drink at all and the group self-reported that they only drank 65 alcoholic beverages, a number that makes sense given the age of the group and the fact that most people who drank had the painkiller specialty cocktail where just one was usually enough. The total charge for the alcohol including tax and tip was $2,520 or $57 per person. The charge for the 111 drinks (using the average price per drink that was charged) that nobody says they drank was $1,589. Oh, and for the $53 per-person food charged on the bill, the 44 people actually in attendance magically became 55 resulting in an extra $740 on the bill. So, the total extra charges were approximately $2,329. They did miss including extra charges for premium food that brought the overcharge below $2,000. Since Cold Harbor has a minimum food and beverage spend of $5,250 for such events (and provides gift cards for the amount of underspend), had the correct charges been billed, we would have paid about the same but walked away with $1,200 in gift cards instead of nothing. Coincidentally, $1,200 is the level that constitutes grand larceny in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. After going back to meet with the event coordinator to point out the overcharge, and writing an email doing a detailed accounting and asking that the overcharge be returned in cash, what did Cold Harbor offer? To charge the minimum including a 15% tip and only give us $1,000 in gift cards. Less than we were entitled to if the correct charges were billed. Truly unbelievable. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have to poll your guests on what they drank? Thankfully, they are all good friends. In my last email to them, I asked that they skip the gift cards (as we will never go back), eliminate the gratuity (as I am not feeling any gratitude) and just charge us the minimum of $5,250 plus tax ($5,617.50 or $759.50 less than they actually charged). Needless to say, I will remain an unhappy customer if they do so, but will put the matter behind me. I am waiting for a response. read more

I haven't been to Cold Harbor Brewing since their old taproom that was quite literally the size of a postage stamp and was immediately blown away by how large, beautiful and packed their new space is! (like had to park in an auxiliary lot, packed, on a Wednesday night nonetheless! I wanted to try a few of their beers and was so happy to see such a variety; my flight included 'Juice Freak' NEIPA (their flagship), 'Cottage' English Mild, 'Bock Island' Maibock, and 'Truell's' Golden Ale. Their menu features everything from bar bites to sandwiched, pizza and some entrees but my eye was immediately drawn to the Agave Lime Chicken Pizza [buffalo mornay, pickles jalapenos, pulled chicken, pickled red onions, cotija and cilantro] that was unbelievable and just as good reheated in the air-fryer for lunch today! Last night also happened to be 60's and 70's musical Bingo and what a vibe; good tunes and so many people playing along of all different ages. As their mission states, "we strive to be a vital hub of connection, celebration, and enjoyment in the heart of our local community", they sure do live up to it! Large & Loud! Beautiful new building with a lot of parking spaces but for a Friday night not enough! People were parking on the grass. Outdoor fire pit, shuffleboard game inside. All the things that would make me like a place but... it has some work that needs to be done. We were a party of 11 but only 5 people were drinking. Everytime a beer was ordered, at time of delivery a different waitress would stand at the end of the table and shout out the beer name. So 1. you can't hear 2. you have to remember the name of your beer. We caught on but at first it was really challenging and the waitress seemed annoyed. The poutine was super salty but good. The potato pizza- each bite of potato was delicious but not enough potato on the pizza! My friends who suggested the place stated that last time they had the potato pizza the potato was evenly spread on the pizza as this time it was just dallops. The potato had to of had garlic in it, it was good. But even better was the carmelized onion sour cream! Mmmnnnn! But spread that potato out! 3 kids ordered kids cheeseburgers. All were delivered as hamburgers. This additional waitress was annoyed alerting us the kids burger is not a cheeseburger. We replied it's what we ordered and weren't told differently. She returned the burgers and added cheese. I think the staff need a little help with their customer service. I also think keeping the main waitress with the will help here. If there was any competition in the immediate area I don't think Cold Harbor would be as busy as it is. I've now tried it for lunch and dinner a few times, and I always leave a bit disappointed. The beer is the highlight for me, 4/5. But the food and service have always been average at best. I really want to have a great experience with a bartender or server, but haven't yet. As far as food, today I had the veggie burger and fries and it was just ok. The fry serving was a bit paltry and they weren't hot or fresh. The "burger" actually came as more of a gyro, so that was surprising. Again, it wasn't bad but it also wasn't great. I'm not sure what's going on with the pickle they advertise as part of the included side, but it was probably the lowlight, especially since I was really looking forward to it! It was not good. I do miss the smaller Cold Harbor location with the food trucks. I feel like it was an authentic, hip, and exciting central mass experience. It now feels like they're trying to do too much, and it's definitely not hip (it's hard not to notice the older, suburbanite crowd). I do hope for them they continue to improve, but I'd love to see another brewery in the Shrewsbury, Westboro, Northborough corridor... I think a great spot would clean up. read more

Came back to give the food a try as we had been here recently and tried the beers. As expected the beers were really flavorful but the pumpkin beer could use a sugar rim! I had the chicken BLT. I usually don't do fried chicken but they didn't have any grilled. No loss, as the fried chicken was perfectly cooked and had a good amount of bacon and guacamole on it. Fries were crisp and hit. No picture but we also had the poutine. It could have used a little more cheese curd, but they were perfectly cooked as well waitress was super friendly and again a team approach was used. Unlike many breweries I've visited that are lacking on food choices, you could easily refer to Cold Harbor Brewing Company as a restaurant that brews their own beer as opposed to a brewery that has food just to say they have food. Other breweries should take note. I had high hopes for the BBQ Cubano but it was just ok. The menu said it was served on a baguette but it was more like a soft ciabatta. The ham was thin sliced deli ham not the thick cut ham you'd expect on a Cubano. You could barely taste the mustard (now I'm actually wondering if there was any mustard at all) or the pickles (there were definitely pickles because I saw them). The BBQ was quite sweet and very runny, so be sure to ask for extra napkins. In retrospect, I'd say it was more of a BBQ sandwich than a Cubano. The other two people in my party had burgers and I was told they were very good. The sweet potato fries were ok. Kudos to the establishment for having veggie side options to the fries, but was was left wanting for a coleslaw option to go with the BBQ sandwich. The beer selections were decent. I had a beer flight with the Cottage English Mild, the German lager, a Kolsch and Truell's Golden Ale. The Cottage was the tastiest. I finished off with the Pumpkin Latte Nitro which was very smooth, almost creamy in texture, as you'd expect from a Nitro beer. The actual pumpkin flavor was a little weak though. All the beers were decent enough, but nothing to rave over. All were what I'd call light bodied and easy to drink, not necessarily a bad thing. The establishment has lots of seats both indoors and outdoors; my colleagues and I chose the outdoor area to enjoy the nice weather as well as the good company and meal. The Fried Chicken Sandwich I had was exceptional, with wonderfully crispy buttermilk fried chicken, melty Vermont cheese, and a liberal drizzle of hot honey for a delicious kick. The homemade ranch and fresh lettuce offered a lovely balance, all nestled inside a warm, soft brioche bread.
