Living up to their namesake, that's exactly what your nether region will feel like after a wax at Smooth as Silk. Groupon brought me here. I've had the opportunity to try many waxing places because of it. Most estheticians I've gone to are usually independent and rent a space inside a salon building, but Smooth as Silk is actually a standalone waxing studio. And a beautifully decorated one at that -- reclaimed wood paneling and decor that made for a warm welcome. They even offer bottled water while waiting. A cleansing wipe is provided beforehand and a sheet drape for modesty after undressing. Tori did my wax. She was casual and friendly and turns out she's also the owner. So it goes without saying that I experienced a thorough wax. I'm bad at maintaining my brazilian schedule so it was as if it was my first time waxing, but it wasn't as painful as I anticipated. Thanks! I have a few favorite waxing places in town and this will definitely be added to the list. Their regular price for brazilian wax is $50 which is usually the average to comparable studios.

I'm really disappointed by how this Groupon promotion was handled…read more I had previously visited Speakeasy Sugar Parlor several months ago and paid directly for my service, but I had never purchased a Groupon from the business before. When I saw this Groupon, I read through the terms and conditions carefully and there was nothing stating that it was limited to first-time clients. I purchased it well in advance because I was planning a trip and wanted to make sure I could schedule my appointment ahead of time. I had my appointment planned, and then just a couple of days beforehand, I received a text from the owner, Sabrina, informing me that the Groupon was only for first-time clients and therefore could not be used. I was told that the first-time-client restriction could not be included on the Groupon because of Groupon's terms. Regardless of the reason, I feel that is important information for a customer to know before purchasing, not after the purchase has already been made and an appointment has been scheduled. Unfortunately, Groupon would not refund my original payment because more than 30 days had passed. The alternative was Groupon Bucks, which isn't useful to me because I don't plan to use Groupon again. I'm not upset that a business chooses to offer a first-time-client promotion. That's completely reasonable. What I find problematic is purchasing a promotion without seeing that restriction disclosed, only to have the restriction communicated to me days before my appointment. I had been a customer here before and would have appreciated much clearer communication about who was actually eligible for the promotion. I ultimately walked away feeling like I had paid for something that I wasn't allowed to use, despite having carefully reviewed the advertised terms before purchasing. As a Yelp Elite, I always try to give businesses credit where it's due, but I also think it's important to share experiences when a promotion or customer-service situation doesn't go as expected. I hope the business considers making these restrictions much clearer for future customers.
