On 10/22/2019 I scheduled an online grooming appointment with Dog Space with the owner Mieko for Nov 1st at 8:30 am. I called this morning to talk with Mieko about changing something that had been done last time she groomed my Giant Schnauzer. I have gone to Mieko a few times before and I have always been happy and I have kept a great rapport with her. Last time I asked her to please not trim or cut his eyelashes. They did end up getting cut very short. I was not angry with Mieko I just figured that next time I'd call a day or two before and just talk with her and ask it we could not cut them this time. When I spoke with her this morning I was very courteous over the phone with her and tried to explain exactly what I wanted, which was to just not cut his eyelashes. To my surprise when I tried to communicate this with her said told me and I quote "I can't make you happy". "I can't be your groomer anymore". "I do exactly what you say, not good enough for you". I told her no its okay I just didn't want his eyelashes cut. She then hung up the phone on me. I gave it a few minutes and called back. I tried to plead with. Asking her why she was doing this, letting her know I was not mad and I was sorry. I tried to explain that I photos scheduled for Saturday morning, and that I really needed him to get groomed. She said she was sorry, but she can not help me. I honestly can not believe that she did this to me. I completely understand the right of refusal, however, under different circumstances. I never thought this would happen due to me for just trying to communicate something about my dogs haircut. I'm at a loss, and feel so very sad. I did really enjoy taking my Oliver to Dog Space. After Mieko doing this to me, even an apology wouldn't fix this.

I walked in, un-greeted and unnoticed. I headed to the aquatics section for five comet goldfish. One associate was helping two ladies, so I figured he'd circle back. Spoiler alert: he did not. I waited around, browsed nearby accessories, gave all the polite "I-need-help" body language -- and nothing. No staff in sight. Turns out, you now expect customers to scan a QR code to get help. Cute in theory, but not obvious at all. No sign, no heads-up -- nothing. I'm 38, I've been keeping fish since I could reach the tank, and never once have I needed to scan a code to ask for help. It's giving tech gimmick instead of customer service. After a solid 15 minutes of being ignored, I helped myself. I bagged the fish. No one noticed -- well, except another poor soul also lingering for help. I could've walked right out and no one would've known. That's how invisible customers are in your store. Then I head to checkout. There's a line four people deep, one sluggish cashier, and suddenly staff start magically appearing when the line gets long. A woman (shoulder-length brown hair, light blue eyes -- I assume the manager on duty) finally offers to ring me out. I explain that no one ever helped me, so I got the fish myself. Her response? Not concern, not an apology -- just attitude. She lectured me about the QR code, like I was supposed to be a mind reader, and tried to make me look stupid in front of the entire line. Newsflash: the only thing more embarrassing than being scolded for helping myself is the fact that I had to because no one was doing their job. Let me be clear -- I've worked in customer service for two decades. I know retail. I know what it looks like when employees hide in the back and leave the floor empty. I also know rule #1 is don't embarrass your customers -- especially the ones who are still trying to give you their money. The one bright spot? Your tall Hispanic associate -- he's always been kind and attentive. And the grooming team? Fantastic. But this manager's behavior? It soured the whole thing. One rotten attitude, and I'm done. So here we are. Feel free to check the cameras -- I was 6'5", wearing a purple shirt, black shorts, and a hat. You'll see exactly what I described. I'm not making this up. It's easy to come here and visit the cats compared to other cat cafes that I visited where there's a waiting list. Staff here absolutely loves the cats and is very knowledgeable about their behaviors. They definitely take cleaning seriously here. It's $7 to just visit the cats or $5 if you're ordering an item. The cafe has pretty affordable food options as well. We stayed here for a full hour and I just wish I could spend more time with all the kitties. The animals here are absolutely cute. They have alpacas too! The animals definitely understand the people, they're pretty smart. The man who maintains the property is very knowledgeable. Definitely a reminder that some of the animals on the website are not there at the sanctuary since they passed away and there is a small cemetery to pay tribute to the animals that were given a beautiful life of freedom. Highly recommend and would preach supporting this sanctuary.
