I drove by this place a few times and thought it was closed. It was apparently open and I tried it. The food is modestly interesting but very over priced. A Lebanese version of a "happy meal" was twelve dollars. Nothing really special a styrofoam dish with not much food. I was the only one there and ordered a take out meal and was asked how much tip I wanted to leave. Is this a joke? Tips are to compensate service staff not for the guy putting a few morsels in the styrofoam compartments The place does have something a little different but too expensive and modest portions do not make for a return visit. read more

Best falafel ever and I don't even like falafel normally. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and cooked and moist on the inside. We got the vegetarian platter and falafel sandwich and both were really good. Everything tasted fresh and I am glad the pita was thin and soft so I could enjoy eating less carbs and more of the other good stuff. The couple that owns, cooks and serves are very kind and caring people from Lebanon. My son loved talking to them and didn't want to leave the place. We will be back! Oh and they don't have baba ghanoush on their menu but if you want a container and call a couple days in advance, they can prepare it for you. I ordered the hummus plate and my husband had the beef kebab plate. Both were delicious, you can tell it quality ingredients prepared with love and pride. We waited for about 7-10min, the food was fresh cooked to order and plentiful. We both shared our dishes with our 5 and 7 yr old. The falafel was the best I've eaten hands down! Super fresh and just excellent - this is a Lebanese oasis of food in South Austin. Family run - these are real folk and it shows in the home style food. I can honestly say that the falafel was different than any other I've had - so light and crispy. You can tell the menu is full of little surprises like that. Hummus Cuisine is set up in one of the cutest Austin trailer food parks complete with games, nice scenery, and plenty of shade for everyone to enjoy a hot, summer Texas day. We were greeted by Tony & Charlotte, owners of the truck, and they were the most precious and gracious hosts. I love Mediterranean food, so I decided to try their lamb and beef gyro, while the bf got the lamb and beef plate. As we were sitting on the bench, I couldn't help but appreciate the plants and shrubbery near the truck, and when I glanced over, I realized this was literally a rock's throw from Moontower Saloon, which I'm sure gives them plenty of business :) Lamb/Beef Gyro 5/5: I loved how fresh everything tasted. The bread was so flavorful, and the beef and lamb were flavored perfectly. It wasn't spicy, but that was okay because the tahini sauce and the other spices inside the gyro itself was very tasty. It was also a good portion size for me-- I was a happy camper. Lamb/Beef Plate 5/5: It was presented very nicely, everything cut accordingly, just freshly washed and placed into the container. The Meat was still hot, and their homemade tabouli salad was so good with a zesty kick at the end. More than anything else, my culinary experiences boil down to ambiance, and whether or not heart was behind the food that was put out. These awesome, friendly, and very talented chefs hit it out of the park. I was expecting exceptional food based on the aggregate reviews and I was really disappointed. Ordered the falafel plate and gyro plate. The falafal balls were overcooked and didn't taste fresh and the overall texture was weird... Tasted more like quinoa than chickpea, I really couldn't place it but definitely unlike any falafal I've ever had and obviously not in a good way. Best falafel in Austin! Amazing home cooked authentic food

Today my daughter and I decided to try this place out. We have never had Lebanese food before and we wanted to give a try. Let me tell you we were not disappointed. It was so good. My daughter had a Shawarma (gyro)sandwich filled with gyro meat, tomatoes, lettuce and tahini sauce wrapped in pita bread. She loved it!! All the flavors and the pita bread were fantastic. I had the Falafel Sandwich which is filled with Falafel balls , lettuce, tomatoes,pickle and tahini sauce wrapped in pita bread it was ooh so good! We also shared a Tabouli Salad which is a vegetarian dish made up of tomatoes, finely chopped parsley, onion, mint, bulgur and seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice and salt. Mmmmm we loved how all the flavors mix together and not one is overwhelming it's a great little salad to enjoy on a hot day. Then we also took home two Mamul cookies they were good as well. It's not always easy to find something for everyone on a small menu, but Hummus Cuisine has it down. Had the falafel sandwich as it comes. Not overly dressed, but definitely jampacked with crispy fresh veggies and wonderfully prepared falafel balls. My companion went for the lamb gyro sandwich and says it's absolutely worth getting again. Outdoor seating is relaxed and comfortable. Prices aren't terrible because the product is totally quality. I order on GrubHub (pandemic and all) and my order kept getting delayed. No problem, I ordered around lunch time and it seems they were very busy. I think they gave me a free falafel plate maybe to apologize for delaying the order for so long which is very sweet. I didn't enjoy the food very much it was kind of one note. That doesn't mean they did a bad job it may just not be for me. I'm used to a tzatziki sauce which has more dill. The shwarma tasted kind of old, but also I know they were super busy so it may not have been the best pieces. My husband enjoyed his gyro but wished that it didn't taste so sour. This is a food truck on Manchaca, but don't let that discourage you. This is one of the best Mediterranean food vendors in S. Austin!! Charlotte is the chef (& maybe business owner) and she is so sweet and makes delicious Hummas and Beef Shwarma! The rice is prepared in a Lebanese style (which is hard to find in Austin). Be sure to ask for extra rice, you won't regret it! Oh, and as a last minute decision, I ordered the Falafal. It comes as an order of 4 with a sauce that is almost like the texture of Hummas, but maybe sweeter?? I was blown away! It was as good as the best Falafal I've had, including throughout NYC. Deep South Austin is starting to get some real flair. Living in this area usually means a car trip to get anywhere good, but now we have the beginnings of our own food trailer park just a short walk away. Hummus Cuisine is amazing. The owners are so lovely and the food is beyond fresh. The hummus is smooth and creamy, the tabouli is crisp and tart, and the falafel with their tahini sauce is some of the best I have had. Our family really enjoyed the food here, as well as the friendship. We shared two plates between the five of us (two adults and three small kids). I chose the Shawarma (Gyro) Plate and my wife chose the Hummus Plate. The owners gave us extra pita bread, which allowed us to make 10 tasty pita pockets, which the kids called "tacos." The flavor was among the best Mediterranean food I've found in Austin so far. I thought the tahini sauce was an inspiration (we do a lot of home cooking), and the mild spices were just right for our kids. Most importantly, the owners/chefs were very gracious and generous with us. They let us know their food truck is upgrading to a brick-and-mortar business nearby in the near future. I have ordered from Hummus Cuisine before on local delivery sites with good experience, so decided to drop by in person to the food truck for dinner last week. The gyro and kebab plates in the past, and enjoyed both. I got the kebab wrap this time and wasn't super impressed. The toppings were a bit strange and it could have used a sauce (or more sauce if there was some on it). Huge portion, but stopped eating about halfway through. I will stick with the plates in the future. Overall good experience, but wish the wrap had been a little better and it would be nice if they had better/thicker pita. read more

Moved to South Austin back in October with my fiancé and I already wish we had discovered this place earlier. Tony and Charlotte are some of the most friendly and accomodating owners of a restaurant I've met. We've been to Moon Tower before, which is immediately adjacent to Hummus Cuisine. Megan was having a bad day already before we got there, due to injury, and upon our arrival Charlotte presented her with a bottle of water. Immediately I knew this place cared about customer service. Megan had the kebab plate and I enjoyed the falafel sandwich. Both dishes absolutely turned around our days for the best. Good price point for what you get. Solid atmosphere to enjoy your meal at with the vegetation and grounds. And lastly an awesome meal that hits the spot where it's just enough food that won't make you regret the rest of your day. Wow what an adventure this turned out to be. While trying to find a Greek/Lebanese restaurant that sold hummus and gyros and delivered in south Austin I found this gem. I called them and asked about delivery and they informed me they only deliver within a very small radius but would have an order ready for pick up. I told them I would come in and check it out because me and my wife hadn't really reviewed their menu yet. We looked over there menu which is small but adequate (also this is a food truck so they have what is needed) and we decided on the gyro plate that came with salad and hummus. We headed up there and were greeted by the nicest people who walked us through there menu and than we told them what we wanted. While we were waiting some other family members of the owners where enjoying a fresh batch of Turkish coffee. Amine was the husbands name and he offered my wife and myself a glass while we wait. We talked work and life for a few minutes while our food was finished and we took off, very pleased by the great hospitality. Once we got home and tried the food we were VERY IMPRESSED! Every bit of it was amazing by itself and also complemented each other perfectly no matter how you paired it. My wife and I are both fanatics for Mediterranean food, so we were extremely excited to see a Lebanese food truck pop up literally right down the road from us. Better yet, I have a special weakness for Lebanese food, so that excited me even more. We've been talking about trying it out for a couple of weeks, and tonight we finally did. Wow. The food is amazing. My wife had the falafel plate, and I had the shawarma plate - extra hummus on the side. We are beyond happy that we now have such an amazing little Mediterranean cuisine food truck a mile or so away from our house, we expect that this will become a staple for us, and we look forward to trying absolutely everything on the menu.
