I had my hair color for the very first time by Jason Wiggans. I wanted full highlights with balayage. He did not listen what I wanted and did only balayage. First he told he has 2:30 hours only. When I try to shift my appointment I was told he has enough time. When I got there he was ready to start his work without understanding what I really want. He told me "let me do my thing " I trusted him but I was not satisfied at the end of the day. Hair cut was not the same what I wanted. I suggest that if you want to take appointment then take with the person who has enough time and also ready to listen to your choice. Salon was great and people are nice. I went to Humphrey's Salon for the first time yesterday, and could not be more pleased with the end result. My biggest complaint of my former hair stylist was the lack of attention she gave before and during the cut. Every time I would leave I would be unsatisfied with some part of the haircut (but I loved the color and the price was inexpensive). However, I decided it was time to try someone new and am SO happy I did. I saw Tayler yesterday, and will be going back to her next time! I got about 6 inches cut (drastic change), highlights, lowlights, deep conditioning treatment, and their "break the base". I also bought two recommended products. Tayler was great. She spent time discussing my hair type, hair needs/routine, etc. She even cautioned me on the style I wanted and took time explaining how it would effect my daily routine. After she cut and styled my hair, she once again took time to make sure everything was even and cut correctly. I was at the salon about 3 1/2 hours but it was time well spent! For the first time since moving to North Texas, I have no complaints and will definitely be returning!! If any of the managers or owners read this review.. give Tayler props on her customer service/technique. The salon itself was was very nicely decorated, was full of customers (mix-gendered which is rare to see), and the staff overall was very friendly and helpful. Linda (the front desk girl) was great when I made the appointment and when I called to say I was running a little late. I am very impressed and glad I gave Humphrey's a try. 2 years ago I moved to Dallas with just 1 question: where do I go to get my (incredibly thick, naturally curly) hair done. Ok, I had a few more questions for the Big D than that, but having moved a lot, I've experienced the first hand the frustration (and literal pain) an inferior salon can cause. So salon selection is pretty high on my list of priorities when moving somewhere. First step was to ask for a reference from someone whose hair I liked. When that was done, the next step was to book it. Long story (relatively) short, I tried her salon. It was a well-known, well respected salon. Their hair was good but the service was horrible...especially for the price. Dejected, I waited until my hair was getting unmanageable and did what I swore I'd never do again. I booked an appointment at somewhere nearby without a personal recommendation. Humphrey's made me wish I'd skipped the recommendation to begin with. I love my stylist, Ellen. She listened to what I wanted then made recommendations based on my hair/body type. Service there is great, decor is nice. Ellen will even work with me on my appointment time and stay late to accommodate my work schedule. I recently moved from Las Colinas to the city and was thinking I'd change salons to one closer to home. But given their flexibility, good service, and high quality work, I've decided to stay put. My daughter and I both had our hair cut and styled by Heather. Humphrey's has recently down-sized their space but to be honest, it's an efficiecent use of the space. The receptionist was very welcoming and peppy - that always helps me feel better about how a place is managed. We went on a Friday at 3 or so and it looked like there were about 6 stylists on at this time of day. I booked 4 days in advance so I'm unsure how difficult it would be to get in last minute for a late Friday afternoon. Heather is an amazing stylist!! I've been to Humphrey's 2 other times in the past couple of years but each stylist I had, although good, wasn't as detailed, IMHO. I called on a Saturday around 2pm expecting to make an appt for a week or two out, but with a last minute holiday cancellation, I got in to see Heather within 30 minutes of calling. Franz Alexander is not a 'hairdresser'. He is a magician with hair. That's the best conclusion I can draw from the short, wonderful appointment during which he sculpted my shaggy, wavy mess into the cutest asymmetrical lob (for you noobs out there, that means a longer-length bob) and the best haircut I think I've ever had in my life. I've had some pretty good haircuts in my time. Usually they look their best when I've just walked out of the salon, freshly styled with expensive product and expert curling technique I couldn't possibly replicate at home. So... a couple days after my haircut, I took a shower (feel free to judge me idgaf), towel dried my hair and lazily combed it out with my fingers before dashing out the door. We're talking average straight male levels of time and effort spent on styling my hair that day, by which I mean almost none. I looked in a mirror later and my hair looked amazing. Like I had spent an hour styling each piece but also styling it real casual to look like I hadnt spent any time at all- except...I really *hadn't* spent any time. My mind was blown and everything I thought I knew about my hair was thrown into question. This was the magical, mythical haircut I had been waiting my entire life to get- the haircut that allows me to spend zero time in the morning and still look like a responsible grown up lady who styles her hair. Franz didn't just give me a good haircut. He gave me an extra hour of sleep each morning with zero negative consequences. This haircut is like having a superpower. I've been trying to figure out why this haircut is so good. I think it's because I explained to him that my hair is naturally very thick and wavy, and I explained that I like to part it on one side and just allow it to air dry whenever I can. So he took those factors and worked them into his magical hair equation. I'm also very awkward and quiet which allowed him to concentrate on my hair without having to listen to my blabbering. Maybe he just cuts with laser precision sculpting each individual lock of hair for most of his clients, but I feel like my silence helped so I'm gonna go with that. Anyway, he'd better not quit his job bc if he does I'm never getting my hair cut again. It was that good, ok? 5/5 will definitely be back. read more

I searched reviews tirelessly online for a few weeks before choosing a salon myself. It was a nice salon, and all of the other customers seemed to leave looking awesome, but the girl I was put with wasnt the best: after over $400 spent, it *still* wasnt what I wanted. My hair had 2-3 inches of regrowth everytime I left and was orange all over, an absolute disaster. At that point, my boyfriend recommended his old pal at Humphrey's. What a difference! In *one visit* Mark was able to totally transform my hair. He has years upon years of experience and is a wonderful colorist. I found Humphrey's on Yelp after I had almost decided to attempt to try to fix a series of bad haircuts myself. My old stylist was excellent, and I could literally roll out of bed and into a business meeting without even having to brush my hair. She quit working when she had children and I have tried about 10 different stylists from the $20-$80 range with zero success for my basic chin-length bob. The last time was the worst though, as the stylist seriously butchered the bottoms, trying to get it to turn under on its own. All it did was poof out at the bottom. It was so bad that I either had to wear a headband or keep my hair tucked behind my ears as I was letting it grow. I decided to try one more time as I had a few big meetings the following week, and found this place not too far from my office. I called and the receptionist was so pleasant, and when I explained my situation and frustrations, and she said Fritz was my guy and that he was a "cut specialist". I made a same day appointment for that day after work. I was pretty confident with my decision when I drove up and the parking area in front of their store was filled with BMW's and Mercedes, and all of the clients had very nice handbags. Fritz was awesome! He took a lot of time before even taking me for a shampoo, checking out where the problems were, and checking to see what parts of my hair were thicker than others so he could develop a game plan. He took about an hour and styled it just as I do at home, without any products or flat iron. When he was done, he showed me the couple of places that it needs to grow out just a bit more and that my next cut in a couple of months it will be perfect. It was as perfect as possible given what he had to work with, and my hair actually looks longer because he tapered it in a way that frames my face. To top it all off, they did not try to sell me a single product the entire time, even though there were plenty displayed on the shelves. They did recommend going ahead and scheduling my next appointment though, saying that they book up quickly in the fall and holiday season. My true test of a haircut is not how it looks when I leave a salon though. It is 1. How it looks when I wake up, 2. How it looks when I wash and style it myself, and 3. How it looks after a long sweaty day of work (I own a business and spend a lot of the day in our warehouse). I mean, can I work all day and then have an impromptu big sales meeting without having to straighten it again. This haircut has passed all three tests and I have a new hair guy! read more
