I've been ordering takeout from here for years, and it always gets the job done. Reasonably priced for large portions, flavor on point, amount of meat you get in your dishes is plentiful (some Chinese restaurants skimp - and I can always tell), and quick service (entire meals ready in 10-15 mins). My favorite item is the Singapore Mei Fun, which I ordered today for lunch. I order it without shrimp or pork, and added beef (+2$- totally worth it!) and the chicken was tender and moist. It was mild in spice in comparison to how Singapore dishes are usually (aka: very spicy) so next time I will request extra spice. Other than that, I loved the carrots, fresh Napa cabbage, bean sprouts (would prefer more- was kind of lacking), white onion and scallions. Finished half for lunch, the other half for dinner. Me and hubby been getting Takeout from Hunan Star for a while now. We used to ordered deliveries very often when we used to live a few blocks away. They were very friendly everytime we go. The food is pretty consistent. I was hooked on their edmame for a very long time. Call me lazy, I didn't want to boil my own beans lol. Hubby's stable was Shrimp with broccoli, pizza rolls, and steak rolls. Mine were chicken wings, edmame, scallion pancake, and shumai. Scallion pancake are so good when they are hot, they were pan fried to perfection, yum. Nothing too spectacular, but it is Americanized Chinese food, so no complaints from me:) read more

This is about the best it gets right around my neighborhood. The food is not bad and the portions are incredible. The establishment is kept clean enough. The staff is friendly enough. The restaurant always seems to be empty for some reason. I dont get it. Nothing Amazing here. We come here with the whole family and have a good meal. Just decided to give this spot a try. I've heard mixed reviews...so I wanted to see just how good/bad the food was. I ordered an egg roll, chicken w/broccoli (except I asked for no broccoli and extra sauce), plain lo mein and cheese fries (for the kids). The chicken w brown sauce was amazing. They gave me a really good amount of sauce. I am VERY picky when it comes to brown sauce, some places it isnt runny but rather chunky/fatty. Hunan's brown sauce is probably the most tasty brown sauce I've ever had. My kids loved the cheese fries as well! The lo mein was fresh and really delicious. bleh. My first thoughts upon entering were, "forget this man...." It was EMPTY and there was a bit of a smell. BUT, because of the reviews, I decided to stick it out and give it a shot. I got my go to; boneless spareribs, with white rice. Chinese food is USUALLY pretty universal; the lo mein over there, tastes just like the lo mein over there. The spare ribs I got at Hunan Star were trash. They were bone dry and had ZERO FLAVOR. Zero flavor. My entire meal tasted like white rice. The ribs had no sauce. They were just red, positively flavorless hunks of meat. The only reason I'm not dropping the one star hammer is because it wasn't disgusting, it was just like eating nothing. One of the worst experiences ever!!! The driver was extremely rude and took over an hour to deliver. When the food finally got here (after multiple phone calls and rude, unhelpful customer service). My wife and i have been coming here off and on since we started dating, Many moons ago.we've always enjoyed the food and ambiance. The interior is a little outdated and could use some work but i think thats what gives the place its charm. the crunchy noodles,general tso's and eggrolls are awesome.the piano in the dining area adds a cool touch, Not intentional of course but cool none the less. not many sit down chinese restaurants (not buffets) left ... The food was very good. Our dinner arrived in about half an hour or so which is a lot quicker than most. My husband and I both ordered combination platters which consisted of the main dish and choice of egg roll or wonton soup. We also ordered fried dumplings which were awesome! Eh... I usually order from Happy Wok. They're decent. But I was going out on a limb to see if I could find something a step up. I choose this place based on stars and what is available in this area. I won't order here again though. It said 45-60 minutes and it took the full 60 mins to come. It is 8pm on a Saturday night. So I'm not mad about that. Food was edible but not really that good. I called spoke to owner and he did nothing I asked him to find out where his driver is since I'm not getting no answeres and he couldn't.! He didn't reimbursed me any thing or give me anything free witch is not what I want!!!! I just want my food to be delivered within 30-40 min as they told me.!!!! Will always be one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. I work across the street so I order here a lot, if you're going to take out I'd suggest calling ahead first, it's always quicker that way. My dad would always get takeout from here when I was a kid, so maybe that why I like it so much, but lo mein from anywhere else just doesn't taste the same. The family that runs the place is extremely kind and personable, whenever I get the owner on the phone when I order, she includes the duck sauce they make in a little container for me because she knows I like it. I ordered from this restaurant and I am completely disappointed and upset. It took an hour and half. They called me after an hour to tell me that the delivery driver brought the food back because I didn't answer the door. I have two dogs that bark every time they here my door and also I have a door bell. The store is 3 min drive and they were sending my food back. I called them back twice after that to see where my food is. This time I'm extremely annoyed. When the delivery guy got here he apologizes and told me he was supper busy. But then I proceeded to pay while he sat there and asked me for a tip!! My food was room temperature at this point and lacked a lot of flavor. Second time ordering from here and the quality has slipped. The chicken on a stick was 1/3 fat, the shredded beef with garlic sauce was peppers and onions with a little sliced/chopped beef swimming in some brown soup, and their homemade iced tea is instant iced tea.
