Steamed vegetable dumplings (after we ate a couple!)
    Stacy F.

We came here after walking across the Ben Franklin bridge for the 100th anniversary. We were looking for a place with vegetarian options. The options were somewhat limited but there was enough, and what there was was delicious! We had the vegetarian duck cold appetizer, steamed vegetable bun and 2 types of vegetable dumplings. A cold lychee smoothie was just thing after that long hot walk! The place is bigger than it looks from the outside. It was crowded but we were seated quickly. It's loud. Very loud. But the food was worth it!

I love their spicy pork soup dumplings but honestly their Mapo Tofu is even more delicious! Don't forget to put a generous amount of chili oil on it - it makes the tofu taste even better!

This place never disappoints! I went during the first day of the Flower Show and this part of the city was mobbed. I went at lunch time and waited 5 or so minutes for a table. Now even though I was seated quickly, all the patrons were close in proximity! Everything we ordered had excellent flavor and came out quickly even with a full house! Will come here again and again with the amazing food and fast and efficient staff!

I haven't been to Dim Sum Garden since they moved to their new location until tonight. The space is beautiful! Well lit and massive. So happy to see their business is booming allowing them to move to a larger space. The staff is so friendly and totally deserve the success they have. I grabbed takeout but they were fairly busy for a Sunday night. A few open tables but generally full. I came specifically for the chicken soup dumplings. Such a comforting meal. I was happy to see none of my dumplings burst on the commute home. The filling is so delicious and a generous portion of chicken. I grabbed the chicken noodle dish as well, this isn't really my vibe but it was good and the noodles are flavorful. I'm just used to a standard lo mein which has a bit more flavor and mix-ins. Overall, I'll always come back for the soup dumplings, just might stick to my favorites next time.

This place was recommended to us by our Airbnb Host while on vacation in Philadelphia. I love dim sum so we decided to try it. The staff were super friendly & we were greeted warmly on arrival. The place was relatively packed with people & a little loud but it was happy banter. The service is quick & efficient. What can I say about the food?! Ah mazing!!! We tried the crab soup dumplings, shiu mai, crab rangoons & fried Napa cabbage & pork dumplings. We were not disappointed. The price is also very reasonable. We left there feeling so happy. Please try it when in Philly.

Found this place on tik tok and was so glad we went. We were seated as soon as we walked in and it was pretty crowded. The restaurant was well lit and clean. We tried dumplings, sesame chicken, and fried rice. I also got a lychee martini and it was so delicious. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Food this time around was just okay. I was bringing a friend who had never been and she was excited to try dumplings for the first time. While she enjoyed that, the other food lacked strong flavor profiles, most notably the kung pao chicken packed no punch in flavor or spice. The service was just okay but I recognize that coming on a warm midday Saturday lends itself to a lunch rush and less time and attention to the quality. I hope to have a better experience next time.

We walked through Chinatown in search of some soup dumplings and stumbled upon Dim Sum Garden. We walked in and were seated right away and handed menus. We had a feeling the place was going to be good as we saw a steady crowd of people coming in and being served. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating and a bar area for drinks as well. We ordered the spicy soup dumplings, pan fried soup dumplings, and bok choy. The bok choy came out sautéed with garlic. I just wish it had been cut a bit smaller, because the pieces were hard to eat. The soup dumplings stole the show. The spicy soup dumplings had a nice kick, and the pan fried dumplings were crispy on the outside and filled with hot pork broth on the inside. Both were incredible. They came with chili oil and dumpling sauce, which was a nice touch. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back for the soup dumplings.

No wait for an early dinner on a Saturday but I think we got lucky with timing as the place was busy! Service was quick, food came out HOT and quick. Everything tasted great. Ordering every dumpling is my life mission.

Cash Only. They have two ATMs onsite. We finally came back Dim Sum Garden and it is still great. We arrived in between lunch and dinner where we were able to get a spot easily. Service is great and food is delivered promptly without a long wait. Street parking or lot parking which is plentiful in the area.

Be aware this is a CASH ONLY spot. They do have an ATM onsite if you need it. The atmosphere: Modern, bright and feels freshly renovated. Plenty of seating and a comfortable amount of space. The food: The portions are generous for the price and most dishes are great for sharing. We started with the Crab Rangoons, which were mostly cream cheese and tasted a bit like they'd been frozen, so not my favorite. The Chicken Soup Dumplings were excellent, full of flavor and rich broth. Our table also enjoyed the Crispy Noodle with Beef. It had a good portion size, nice flavor and a cozy, satisfying feel. The service: Everyone we interacted with was warm and patient. The experience was smooth from start to finish.

Food: Great! We were definitely satisfied with the quality & portions! Highly recommend the chicken on a stick & the Chives and Pork Dumplings (steamed). Service: Attentive but not overly friendly Ambiance: Bright, clean and good music. (Though there was no signage outside- They only accept cash here. ATM inside.)

I do prefer the shrimp to be more plump & flavorful, & my favorite ones tend to have sauces other than soy to drizzle on. My trio of items were a steal at barely $20. Nom Wah is an excellent pick for quality dim sum at rock-bottom prices. I arrived early to a mostly-empty restaurant which allowed their staff to be extra attentive. The waiter described what sauces & dishes he was placing on my table, & the waitress offered to fill my water bottle before I left, as it was a 90° day. A lovely first impression!

The sticky rice in leaf had a good consistency although small with minimal ingredients. The shrimp dumplings are a staple but maybe too much flour which made the outer layer too doughy and chewy. The pork dumplings are good although smaller and tasted more like the frozen variety. Service was slow although there was only one waitress for the several tables. She did fill my water but I had to ask. And seemed to be somewhat frugal when I asked for extra napkins and only received ONE?!? She did come back later and gave me one additional napkin without being prompted. The biggest advantage for this place is it offered shrimp rolls but there are many other options available nearby.

We ended up having to move another table that had just seated to get our preferred table sizes next to each other, but the staff accommodated it with some back-and-forth. Once we were there, there were carts going around. Enough to be regularly getting food without being too interrupted, but would have liked to have a few more options every once in a while. We also requested some Chinese broccoli early on in the meal, but it came out pretty close to the end. Seems like a la carte orders are not handled in a timely way during dimsum hours. Otherwise, dimsum food is standard quality, as good as expected, but nothing too wow-ing. Solid for the price and the vibes. It ain't too fancy here, but a solid choice for dimsum if you're craving it.

Food is ok, has certainly decreased in quality after COVID and is more expensive. There are other dim sum places within a few blocks that are much better quality. As others have said, the situation with their staff demanding 15-20% tip has made it so I will not come here again. A tip is not legally required. It is only legally required to cover the cost of your food as stated on the bill. I think the BBB needs to be contacted to investigate their practices surrounding tips and almost harassing customers into paying more than they wish. In addition, they have loud trucks every day disrupting the quiet street behind. Many elderly live there and are woken up by the loud beeping from the truck alarms, as well as trash truck coming VERY early and waking up residents. No consideration for those who live right there. I will be contacting the city about this issue as there was a similar problem in Fishtown and now that restaurant is no longer allowed to have trucks outside of reasonable hours disturbing residents. The trucks are also TOO large to safely turn into their loading station and people park their SUVs making the space even smaller. They constantly case a problem with traffic blockages because of the trucks unable to turn into the loading dock.

This place immediately came to mind after I read the reviews, and I ordered takeout tonight. I am very pleased to say that this was an amazing experience! I opted to do fairly simple dim sum, mainly because a restaurant that has "dim sum" in its name should shine in this category. I was able to place my order online, and had the scallion pancake, the pork, soup, dumplings, the chicken and shiitake dumplings, and the shrimp shu mai. The order was prepared, extremely fast, but very attentively. The packaging was thoughtful and protective, without being wasteful. They included a small container of delicious black vinegar/soy for dipping, and some chopsticks. All of the dishes were fantastic! My favorite was probably the shrimp dumplings, and I was happy that it was two for one night. Everything tasted very fresh and well-made. The seasoning was spot on, without being overly salty. My only regret was that after going to pick these up, I noted that the inside of the establishment appeared to be quite quaint and comfortable, and would definitely recommend that people check this place out for dine in options. The staff were very friendly, and made the pick up experience a positive one. So, if you're in the area and really want to have some dim sum, I would definitely recommend this place. I will most definitely be back in the future!!

I regrettably went on Valentines with my boyfriend after the Barnes. My food was so bad that my mood was negatively impacted (seriously). Stay away from any of the soups/ramens, the broth is exactly the same flavorless base for every soup. I'd stick with appetizers. I got the worst thing I've ever ordered at a restaurant here: Tom Kha Seafood Soup, it was supposed to be spicy but it was just sweet with no flavor at all. Nothing like any other Asian spicy seafood soups I've had before, lacking any normal amount of seafood (hardly any), and weird uncooked veggies, like huge sliced raw tomato bits. I ate the small amount of seafood out of it and left the rest. It was hardly edible. The scallion pancakes were also the most underwhelming I've ever had. I usually fight for the last piece but me and my boyfriend left half of it uneaten. No flavor or crisp. Seemed frozen and reheated, not fresh. The soup dumplings were the only good thing we ordered and they were just fine, nothing amazing. Additionally, there was a very small amount of them to our order. The Vietnamese beef soup was ok but very below average, nothing good that I'd recommend ordering, same bland broth. I really wanted to like this place and I usually never give out one star reviews, but it was truly bad and the ratings on it are clearly inflated and not reflective of its food quality. Small amounts of bad food for a price you could get much better things elsewhere. I'd rather have gone to Wawa than gone here (and I did after because I was still hungry).
