    Duck Noodle Broth
    Shane J.

So glad I found this restaurant amongst the many in Chinatown. I enjoy the roasted duck noodle soup from another restaurant but I decided to give this a try and I was happy I did! I like how Lau Kee separates the broth from the noodles and vegetables! The flavor of the broth alone was delicious! The duck is seasoned well and there is a nice portion of noodles. When I put the two together...it was perfection. I will definitely be adding Lau Kee to my fav list!

The roasted duck here is BOMB! Been a long time Sang Kee customer but their duck prices are insane at $55/duck. At Lau Kee its $33/duck and I have to say when you eat it fresh the skin is still crispy, the seasoning is just right, not overbearing. We only tried their roasted duck but will be coming back for other meats in the window.

I'll say it's the best egg noodle I've had in Philly thus far. The noodles were prepared in the perfect aldente and had a good crunch to it. Duck wasn't too fatty and the wantons were decent. The broths, unlike most places, had a distinct taste that made both dishes taste like completely different noodles. Surprisingly, they gave enough veggies that you could do without an additional order of veggies. No frills and the food came out fast. Enjoyed the food as it was homey and will definitely come again.

Authentic Cantonese food. Tried duck rice, duck noodles, and roast pork and duck noodles. (Yes, we love ducks.) If you are not familiar with how Asians eat duck, you may be surprised how they chop the meat with the bones into bite-size pieces. You do have to eat around the bones. The duck pieces had so much meat on them that it wasn't too hard. The soup was light, fresh, and tasty. With the rice, they pour the duck sauce over it that made it very tasty. They also gave a generous amount of vegetables. Prices were reasonable. Go early though, as they only have a few tables.

Came around lunch time and there was another table. There are only about 4 small tables here. Busy with a lot of take outs during lunch time. I ordered the Roast Duck Wonton Noodle Soup, pretty good. Duck was fresh. Noodles were bouncy. Wontons were flavorful and bouncy.

This place has good food and it's cheap. Pretty much all that needs to be said. I ordered bbq pork on rice, wonton with noodles, and soup dumplings. Everything was tasty and the bill came out under $30!

I vowed to eat my way through Chinatown -- I have lofty goals! -- but our last restaurant was somewhat of a dud, and I realllllly like what we ordered at Lau Kee in July. So we compromised by returning and switching things up. Except for the soup. Their vegetable wonton is so good -- the broth is flavorful, the wontons delicate and tasty -- I may keep it on my "must have" list. My husband is not as big a fan of Chinese food as I am, but he has a thing for Mongolian Beef. While it wouldn't top my list, I suggested we order it. And it was great! Aiming for enough food to take home, we added eggplant with minced pork to our order. The server warned that it's very spicy. I asked that it be prepared less so, and it was perfect! As I pointed out, this is an informal five-table restaurant that does a lot of takeout. Most of their clientele is Asian. If you come through Philadelphia's Chinatown and can only hit one restaurant, make it this one. And if you contact me, I'll meet you!

What can I say? This was some of the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. We ordered the wontons in chili oil, BBQ pork with steamed rice and vegetables, and pork wonton soup -- and everything was absolutely delicious. The food arrived quickly, piping hot, and bursting with flavor. Each dish tasted fresh and well-prepared, with generous portions and just the right balance of seasoning. If you're craving flavorful, reasonably priced Chinese food, I highly recommend checking this place out.

My fiancé and I were very pleased with our meal today! The restaurant is clean and service is fast. They immediately give a pot of hot tea. We had peking duck, wonton noodle soup, and hot and sour. For the price, I think this is a great option. Im excited to come back so he can try the roast duck and I can try the congee.

I was badly craving Cantonese food and Lau Kee has been on my list for a while. It did not disappoint! The crispy pan fried noodles were delicious, perfect bit of fried texture on the bottom, and the sauce is just as I remembered in my childhood. I'm happy they have a veg version, although the seafood version is not to be missed if you love seafood. The duck left a bit to be desired, as only 2 pieces had meat on it ,and the rest were mostly bone and skin. The roast pork was perfect. The Hong Kong wonton soup was exactly what the doctor ordered. Everything hit the spot and all of my cravings. I can't wait to come back the next time I am missing Canto food.. which is now that I'm writing this review. So comforting, authentic, and delicious. Their service is great too, so fast - and the younger staff members spoke very fluent English if that matters to you. They do take credit, but it is a 3.. or 3.5.. 3 something % fee

Arrived here for dinner on a cold Friday around 6pm. The restaurant is small, holding 5 tables and about 20 people. We were asked to wait a few minutes while one table finished. No problem. We got the steamed dumplings to start, beef wonton soup, and a seafood noodle dish. The dumplings were good and the soup was perfect for the cold night. The broth was quite salty and the beef had fat chunks that I didn't expect. My husband was meh on the seafood noodle dish. Being in Chinatown, street parking is available but can be difficult to find. We just walked from our hotel a couple blocks away.

I live in Manhattan near Chinatown. I eat there a lot as well as in the Queens and Brooklyn's chinatowns (2). This was the best meal I've had in any Chinatown any US city. Get the roast pork fun (dry), roast pork wonton noodle soup, anything with Peking duck. Great service. Only 5 tables so you might need to wait but absolutely, 110% worth it.

Another stop on my quest to review the roast pork/roast duck bowls of Chinatown. Lau Kee had the typical view of ducks hanging in the window and was fairly crowded when i popped in on a weekday for lunch. I got a roast pork and roast duck rice bowl to go for about 12$. Card and cash are both accepted and service was nice and fast. I will note that despite going at a pretty busy, rush hour time for lunch, they did pop my food into the microwave right in front of me for about a minute... a little bit of a turn off. The food itself was good, but nothing special especially given the abundance of options in the area. I'd say overall not bad and I wouldnt say no to returning if I was invited by friends, but also wouldnt go out of my way to return.

While the flavor was clean and aromatic, the kitchen used chicken breast rather than the traditional bone-on thigh meat, which made the texture a bit chewy. We also tried the Szechuan Squid. Be aware that this is more of an "American-style" Szechuan dish -- it was sweet and sour rather than spicy and lacked the traditional peppers or numbing heat. However, the texture of the squid was remarkably soft and tender, reminiscent of an Italian-style slow-cooked calamari, which was a pleasant surprise. To round out the meal, the Dry Fried String Beans with Minced Pork (Gan Bian Si Ji Dou) were a solid highlight. As someone who frequently eats at more 'cleaver-heavy' Chinatown spots like Jin Wei, I found Lee How Fook to be a friendly and consistent spot, but the preparations here are definitely tailored to a much milder palate. If you are looking for that specific 'hacked' bone-in dark meat or a fiery Szechuan kick, this might feel a bit safe.

I regrettably went on Valentines with my boyfriend after the Barnes. My food was so bad that my mood was negatively impacted (seriously). Stay away from any of the soups/ramens, the broth is exactly the same flavorless base for every soup. I'd stick with appetizers. I got the worst thing I've ever ordered at a restaurant here: Tom Kha Seafood Soup, it was supposed to be spicy but it was just sweet with no flavor at all. Nothing like any other Asian spicy seafood soups I've had before, lacking any normal amount of seafood (hardly any), and weird uncooked veggies, like huge sliced raw tomato bits. I ate the small amount of seafood out of it and left the rest. It was hardly edible. The scallion pancakes were also the most underwhelming I've ever had. I usually fight for the last piece but me and my boyfriend left half of it uneaten. No flavor or crisp. Seemed frozen and reheated, not fresh. The soup dumplings were the only good thing we ordered and they were just fine, nothing amazing. Additionally, there was a very small amount of them to our order. The Vietnamese beef soup was ok but very below average, nothing good that I'd recommend ordering, same bland broth. I really wanted to like this place and I usually never give out one star reviews, but it was truly bad and the ratings on it are clearly inflated and not reflective of its food quality. Small amounts of bad food for a price you could get much better things elsewhere. I'd rather have gone to Wawa than gone here (and I did after because I was still hungry).
