Been craving for their, young chow fried rice, hot sour soup for this rainy little bit cold weather, crab rangoon-one their best appetizers and last but not least, their famous fried chicken wings, one of the best. Don't forget to ask for their dumpling sauce, not free anymore but definitely try it and you'll love it. Prices went up, not to be surprised. Everything is going up, expect that. Don't let this high prices ruin your cravings once in awhile. "We only live once, eat and be happy but don't forget to workout. Hunan gives big portions and they're freshly made from scratch. I've read a lot of bad reviews about this place. I only used because they're the only Chinese around that delivers. I have got the beef and broccoli every time and it has been great!! Delivered in a reasonable amount of time (through grub hub). It's hot, the broccoli is cooked perfect, nice and crunchy and spring roll crunchy too. The portion is also good. I noticed it's larger then my normal go to spot. That's a plus and I think it may even taste better. I love my local Chinese place but sometimes delivery makes all the difference. I recommend. This is my go to spot for Chinese food in the area (really it's the only game in town). The thing I like most about this place is that they are consistent - consistently good (not great, not bad). We almost always get the chicken and broccoli and it never disappoints. The sauce is relatively flavorful, it's not super greasy and the broccoli is usually cooked crisp-tender. My favorite dish is the Kung Pao Chicken. It's small diced chicken with crisp veggies and peanuts in a slightly spicy seasoning and light sauce. We have also had their veggie fried rice. They put in a good assortment of veggies and just the right amount. I wish they could somehow "fry" this a little more and make it just a little more flavorful. The kids like their wonton soup - it's classic with no off flavors. I love the taste of their boneless spare ribs but they are frequently a little too tough. The staff are pleasant enough and they have never gotten an order wrong, which is a big deal! read more

This is the best chinese food place in the area. They make the dough for the dumplings which are really good. The flavor of the sauce for the chicken and broccoli is the best I've had. They also have the best egg rolls I've had and make their own mustard and duck sauce. Can't really go wrong here. A great local Chinese restaurant - and the only one in the area that actually delivers (via door dash!). So far we have tried crab Rangoons, short ribs, chicken and broccoli, pork LO mein, egg rolls, egg drop and wonton soup, sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, and shrimp in lobster sauce and everything was delicious! They can be a little on the slow side for pick up - 30-45 mins as opposed to 20 minutes for our other favorite spot, but the food is really good and delivery in the winter months is so convenient. read more

At this point I'm just so done with this place. I realize anyone can make a mistake or have a bad day, but the veritable buffet of screw ups by this place is really just to much! Their ability to mis-estimate the time it will take for you order to be prepared makes the Post Office look like Creskin! Trust me, if they tell you 30 minutes figure on 50 minutes. Then there was tonight, order is completely screwed up. Didn't get most of what we ordered. The receipt on the bag, 100% correct. The items in the bad, total sh!t show. First time here cant complain! The fried dumplings are really good and the curry chicken - pork fried rice combo was descent too( needed a bit of salt but that was an easy fix) . Te place was pretty packed at 7 pm for pick ups so im assuming it must have quite a bit of return customers. So far i like the place and will def return! Customer service was great too! read more

What's with the Chinese food in Hunterdon County? Hunan Wok maintains the strong tradition of lousy - mediocre Asian cuisine in western NJ. The place wasn't as dirty as some of the other reviewers noted when I visited, but the food wasn't anything special. Hot and sour soup was very watery. Shrimp in lobster sauce was also watery and bland. Ribs were decent, but nothing special. Steamed dumplings were cased in a dough that was way too thick. Sweet and sour chicken came with the chicken and sauce served separately, which I didn't care for. Food seemed fresh. No complaints there, but overall, not very impressive. They are clearly set up for take out more so than eat in, even thought they feature many tables. We ordered at the counter and were never offered plates, bowls or utensils. We had to get our supplies from the take out section. For mediocre take out, it was OK. If you're looking for a causal sit down environment try China Moon in Flemington instead. read more

The flavors were spot on but we had sweet-and-sour chicken and sesame chicken and both had way too much breading. I just couldn't eat that much bread so I started picking the meat out and ended up with a pile of breading you wouldn't believe. Many of the pieces had no meat at all in them, just breading. 5 "Clinton" stars for the best Chinese in the area. Great spicy chicken with garlic sauce. The dim sum is quite delicious as is the hot and sour soup. This is a great value play Chinese joint that will fill you up and leave you craving Chinese the following week and you'll one back for seconds. The dim sum dish is quite good and is worth the jaunt to this spot. Singapore noodles are always spot on and very consistent. I've been ordering from the Hunan Wok for years. It's okay, but the consistency of the meals from one time to the next is not good. It probably depends who is cooking that day. Lately, the egg rolls are so oily that it tastes like you took a swig of oil from the bottle. How about leaving them drain a minute or adjust the oil temperature. I've wasted a lot of food and money receiving dinners that are not made well. I don't know how to explain that while the food generally looks the same each time I order, it doesn't taste the same. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Place is dirty and not nice. I go to many restaurants and I never felt so uncomfortable. I was told by the owners daughter (I'm assuming) that I'm never allowed back since I complained about my dish. I got the shrimp dish with five shrimp and the rest of the plate was a load of rice and broccoli. I was unhappy bc I paid for just rice and broccoli basically. I didn't want to get full off just that. I felt annoyed about this, so I mentioned it. She went on telling me that they pay 75 cents for each shrimp. She was going on telling me about how I didn't know the costs of owning a restaurant. All things that a customer doesn't need to know while trying to have a nice dinner with a loved one. I just wanted to be satisfied with my food and enjoy my night out. She was extremely rude and she told me I'm never allowed back. She remembered me as "you are that person that complained about the broccoli". I once order a dish that had only five pieces of broccoli. She was holding it against me which is terrible to do especially for a regular customer. I get if it was jumbo shrimp, but they were very tiny shrimps. I wanted to change my order and she said I had to pay 1 for each shrimp I ate (first off wasn't it 75 cents a shrimp they paid for why were they asking me for a dollar?). My boyfriend had one and I had another before we realized how many was actually in the dish. I believe in high quality customer service. I told her I wanted my money back and she denied to do it, I said I wasn't leaving until I got my money back. They started speaking in Chinese I'm assuming it was about me. If you are looking for a friendly place to eat, then don't go here because they care more about your money then the customers experience. read more

After my favorite Chinese take out had burnt down in January 2015, I found myself searching for an alternative which isn't easy in these parts of New Jersey. Fortunately, a friend had recommended Human Wok...ooops, I mean HUNAN WOK. Much to my delight, the food has been delicious, not too greasy or salty, and the service has been splendid. However; when they tell you "15 minutes" I really wish they meant it. If they're running behind and it's going to take over a half hour, just tell me. It's alright.
