Excellent General T'so Chicken! Promised myself I would not go back to Golden Bowl after a financial dispute but the General T'so chicken combo is soooo good I could not resist hand I haven't stopped going there at least once, sometimes twice and one time three times a day (twice for lunch and once for dinner). I really wanted to give a good review but I'm afraid it was just subpar. The young man at the counter was very friendly and accommodating. I do not wat pork or fish therefore I was able to sub the pork egg roll for a spring roll and the pork fried rice for chicken fried rice. When I got into my package, I noticed the egg roll was not a typical spring roll. Bit into it and it was pork! Then I went after my beloved chicken teriyaki and noticed some strange concoction in the bag. Almost looked like southern fried steak. Very disappointing. Bit into it and tasted like a ball of fried batter. Next I tried the chicken and brocolli. Very little flavor and the broccoli was way over cooked. Sigh. The final taste was my hot and sour soup. Solid Chinese-American faire. Egg rolls are good, but too peppery. Chow Fun excellent. Orange chicken just fair, too much sauce. The chicken is fried, it should be crispy. Best Chinese restaurant in Hunterdon county. I Golden Bowl. We discovered their food during the pandemic. They have the BEST Singaporean noodles. I cannot eat soy or wheat, so this is my go to dish. My hubby and son love the chicken with garlic sauce, lo mien and other dishes. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. The food is never greasy or over cooked. This is the only good Chinese food around. Unfortunately, EVERY SINGLE TIME we place a large order, an item gets left out. It's always an entree and it's been this way for years. I totally understand this happens once in a while, but if you place a large order, you can GUARANTEE that something will be missing, but you'll still get charged for it. We place large orders at least twice a year & it happens EVERY TIME. I'm starting to think it's part of a scam. This is my favorite place to order from. They never have a driver till 5:00 but there still super nice on the phone! There food is great and hot right when you get it. There was one time where I ordered and it was wired they called me 5 times saying there on there way and when he pulled up he honked 2 times and was waiting for me a 14 year old to come out and get the food from his car but I told him to come up to the steps I thought it was wired and strange. I never had I crispy chicken wing ever from Chinese restaurant before this is the first OMG the best ever .

Definitely our favorite Chinese restaurant. Their chicken lo mein is delicious as is their chicken and broccoli. Egg rolls, steamed dumplings, garlic chicken, brown rice and chicken fried rice are very good, also. We've never really had anything bad. We live about five miles away. Have been going here for at least 12 years. Absolutely happy with every order. Not one complaint. Fresh, hot and tasty food. It's not one sauce fits all Chinese. Surprised by the negative reviews. We must order every other month. We agree that in more urban areas there is exceptional Chinese that is sit down fare, and we've had that too, Queens, Chinatown, LA....ETC. ....but for us, for local Chinese .... We tried "Golden Bowl Restaurant" take-out for the first time tonight and were fairly impressed. Though the appearance is less than impressive, we were hit with a very pleasant smell of Chinese food. The price was right for the combo dinners, making Golden Bowl one of the most affordable Chinese restaurants in the area. The wonton soup was good but nothing special. The egg rolls were large and not greasy at all (the sign of a good egg roll), but lacked a little flavor. I had the chicken with garlic sauce combo (egg roll, fried rice in the combo dinners) which again was cooked well but lacked flavor. My wife and son had shrimp lo mein combos. The meals were a good value for the money as we will all have more than half for lunch tomorrow. We will definitely go back here to try some other items. read more

We have always ordered take out from here and the food was consistent. Tonight we ordered boneless spare ribs and got bone in. We called to let them know we didn't want those and to please send the correct order. When the delivery driver showed up with the right order he actually asked for the bone in ribs BACK! We handed the bag back and had no words because this was seriously disgusting. I had opened the bag and touched one of the ribs to see that they were in fact bone in and they took the ribs back to their restaurant! Who knows what they're doing with them now. I wouldn't order the spare ribs or anything for that matter any time soon. Just gross. Very solid spot. In the area we live in, there aren't many good Chinese restaurants so this place was a nice surprise. I placed an order for pickup and here was the breakdown: Egg Roll -- very good. I would totally order again. Won Ton Soup -- again, very good. Nice dumplings and tasty broth. Steamed dumplings -- awesome. I'm not a fan of fried dumplings as I like the texture of steamed dumplings better. These were great. The sauce they give you with the dumplings is amazing. High recommend. Shrimp Lo Mein -- ridiculously good. The large order was huge and they gave you a ton of shrimp. Some places totally skimp out on the shrimp but not here. And, it wasn't greasy at all. I was a huge fan of this place, and if I lived in the area, I'd definitely hit this spot up from time to time. Prices are reasonable and it's located in your typical NJ strip mall type of spot. read more

Although the food is OK - there's an ever changing minimum order amount for delivery. They claim to not know that they are on-line on the site "Bring Me That" which shows a $10 minimum for delivery. Then when you call directly to the restaurant to order for delivery suddenly the minimum is $15. Then when your food is delivered - regardless of the amount of the bill there is an additional delivery charge of $3 - $5. Really? If you're not going to deliver for free than at LEAST be transparent about your minimum order amount for delivery and what the actual delivery fee is. read more
