I love lentils and both the Mulligatawany soup and the Dal Tadkha were spot on, prob best Mulligatawany I've ever had. I'm wondering if Cilantro Garden, downtown Flemington, has a new chef. I say this because I have been very disappointed my last three times there. Eating in, food ordered as an appetizer and a soup came to the table about 5-10 minutes apart. Dinner entrees were not delivered together...again about 5 minutes apart. Perhaps they only have one frying pan! The food was bland and without the depth of flavor you would expect of Indian cooking. One entree we ordered was the vegetable noodle from the Indio-Chinese specials. It lacked flavor and was extremely dry, needing more sauce. They offered 2 packets of soy sauce. I ordered the Channa Masala which was very bland and flavorless. I've been coming here for the past two years, but I will not be returning. You need to up your flavors and serving skills. read more

Just a sad light green runny sauce and the lamb was tough. Not spiced although we asked for medium. Rice was short grains and broken not lovely long basmati grains. Was told over the phone it would be a 40min wait which it was but not worth waiting 10min for either. Not pictured was the tastier dish of Ennai a vegetarian eggplant dish. We used to come here pretty often. Usually, we have a positive experience but this time, I wish it was better. This time we went on a weekend and we got the Gobi 65, samosa and dosa. Usually the food is amazing but it was a little off this time. The sambar was lacking flavor and the dosa wasn't as crispy as it is normally. The samosa was also tiny. I thought it was bigger when I got them before so it was disappointing. However, the gobi 65 was still tasty so that's good. Another thing I was disappointed on was the lunch menu. Menu says "daily lunch menu", but when I asked about it, I was told it's not available on the weekend. Then I asked about the "weekend special" and I was told it's not available until 12. I was there at 11:30. No where in the menu does it say starts at a specific time. I wish the menu was more detailed or accurate. Service was decent. I told the waiter about the sambar lacking flavor and that I needed some chaat masala so he got me some. Then he came back to check to make sure I was ok with the food, which was nice. Ambiance is a fast food style restaurant. Food and drinks are all served on paper plates/plastic cups/etc. I will come back to try again because I remember the food being very tasty before. The town looks like no one visits, but given its houses & churches arc style, it seems this area must be a great spot in its heyday Coming to the restaurant- We were the only ones there so no rush! The Owner himself cooks/serves & bills. One man does all the job. We ordered- Ghee Dosa Dat Tadka & Chapati Dosa was good and so was its dal. Simple but best! The only thing which I did not like was its plastic plate & spoons. It is not a fast-food joint and I am paying what normal restaurants charge. A little hideaway place, we would have not likely found this gem without Yelp! A tiny tidy restaurant with maybe 6 total tables, it offered a vast menu of many Indian dishes I'd never seen before. This is a gem in downtown Flemington. A small-ish Indian restaurant. The food is off the chain wonderful. I am addicted to their Gobi Manchurian, which is reminiscent of General Taos chicken, but made with cauliflower & 100 times better. We are regulars there weekly. The tikka masala butter chicken, lamb Rogan Josh & lamb saag are delicious. The service is kind, professional & on point. This place is the real deal. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. Finally we made it here. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the cleanliness and the rustic decor. Off to a good start. The gentleman that served us, presumably the owner greeted us with warmth and a smile, it made us feel welcome. Cilantro Garden has introduced our family to some amazing South Indian dishes. We've ordered for pickup every week since they opened! Lots of vegetarian options including our favorites spinach paneer and Bindhi Masala. If you eat seafood, try the Goan fish curry. It's delicious! Stopped here on Thursday night to grab a menu and order some takeout. Cilantro Garden is located where Nespolo used to be on Main Street. The owner was wonderful at making accommodations for us and was excited to see us walk in. They're not taking dine in customers yet, but it looks like they are hoping to in the very near future. We ordered in person and then walked around Flemington to wait for our order which took about 35 minutes. While we were there they had about 5 other people come in and pick up food to go as well. I'm thrilled to see this authentic Indian restaurant pop-up and it seems like the other customers were as well! We will definitely go there again. I work in the food industry and know how challenging it is to open up a new restaurant. Though they are still working on getting set up, I believe they are off to a great start and I'm happy to support their small business. Their food quality was excellent in the dishes we ordered and their to go packaging was well done. I highly suggest you give them a try! My only thought is they should add a bit more details to their menu for new diners who have not tried Indian cuisine before. It's a bit daunting if you are not already familiar with what these dishes are! I definitely suggest ordering their vegetable samosas, channa masala, and paneer tikka masala. First time to Cilantro Garden and it was a winner. We ordered take out for our dinner two nights ago and were very pleased with our food. The two entrees we purchased were the Saag Paneer and the Lamb Vindaloo. Both were full of flavor and came with jasmine rice. We normally have to supplement the rice with our own, but there was plenty enough for these two entrees. Both entrees were medium spice and weren't overly spicy. I will try the spicy versions next time as I typically like it "hot". Portion size was more than adequate. There was enough left over for a second, smaller meal today. Pricing was a bit higher than expected, but it seems like everything is pricier than expected these days. It wasn't so high as to be off putting, and maybe it's just me who was used to $10.00-$12.00 entrees just a few years back. The Lamb Vindaloo was $20.00 and the Saag Paneer was $17.00. The one disappointment was there is no Naan on the menu. We opted for the chappathi which we would pass on next time. Still, the food was excellent and we will most definitely return. We are very happy that there is a good restaurant serving Indian cuisine here in Flemington. read more

Just found out about Cilantro Garden from Flemington Restaurant Week. It's about time there is a good Indian restaurant in Flemington after Fusion left. My husband and I decided to try it and were not disappointed. We both ordered Lamb dishes. specified the spice level and were extremely pleased. This is South Indian Food, do not compare it to North Indian Food. There are different Cuisines. The owners were wonderful.
