    Delicious passion fruit tea!

I stumbled upon this truck at a football game and boy am I glad I did! The passionfruit tea is one of the best i've had in a long time - not too sweet and bursting with flavor! I also had the lamb sliders which were delicious. The lamb was cooked to perfection and topped with grilled onions and sriracha mayo on a Hawaiian roll - perfect combination of savory and sweetness. Can't wait to try other items on their menu!

Bing buns: 9/10. The dip trip it came with was fantastic and went with the buns so well. I was super confused what to expect as I'd seen some photos with actual bing and others with buns. We received actual buns that look like dinner rolls, but made with what is probably bing dough. It's really good and probably the highlight here. Potatoes: 7/10. Good, especially the crispy parts, but definitely a little oily. Corn pancakes: 8/10. Good pancake. The cornflakes work well on the pancakes to add a crunch it comes in a 3 stack. Would've been better if the cornflakes were put in between layers as well, especially given the price. Steak and eggs crispy rice: 7/10. The crispy rice was too oily. I couldn't taste and enjoy the rice until I dabbed the bulk of the oil off. Only then was it good. Roasted half chicken: 6/10. Nothing special, honestly. While the food is good, it's so expensive and it doesn't help that parking is paid, too. It's not a paved lot, so it feels kind of bad to pay for it. Came here early on a Sunday and the place filled up quickly as people came in for their reservations. There's a mandatory 3% charge to pay for back of house staff, regardless of if you're doing takeout or dining in.

If you're looking for a true hidden gem in Boyle Heights, this place is an absolute must-visit !!!…read moreIt's the oldest Japanese restaurant in Boyle Heights and one of the last original spots still standing after more than 70 years in the neighborhood.. It's a small mom-and-pop restaurant that feels like stepping back in time in the best way possible... The restaurant itself is tiny, maybe 3 booths and a few high-top seats, fitting around 15 to 20 people at most, so be prepared to wait if you come during peak hours. We visited on a Saturday evening around 5:30 PM. We waited about 15-20 minutes for a table, but it was absolutely worth it.. The place is run by what I believe are a brother and sister... The brother is the chef, and the sister runs the front of the house.. She seats guests, waits tables, and makes you feel immediately welcome.. She's incredibly friendly, bubbly, and helpful, offering great recommendations and explaining the most popular dishes... We ended up ordering a couple of their combination plates.. One was the teriyaki beef with a spicy tuna roll, which came with miso soup, salad, and rice. The other was the teriyaki chicken with assorted sashimi, also served with soup, salad, and rice. Everything was phenomenal... The sashimi was fresh and cut thick, and the portions were generous for the price... Honestly, it's one of the best values you'll find for Japanese food in the area.. Every bite tasted incredibly fresh and homemade.. The whole experience honestly felt like sitting down in someone's home in Japan and enjoying a meal they just cooked for you... Another cool detail is all the memorabilia and photos on the walls showing the history of the restaurant and the neighborhood... It adds so much character and reminds you that this place has been part of the community for decades. If you don't want to wait, you can always call ahead and order for pickup, but we wanted the full experience of dining in, and I'm glad we did.. This spot absolutely lives up to the hype !!! Five out of five stars !!. Highly recommend checking it out !!!

It took me 38 years but I eventually found out about Otomisan and visited for the first time this past weekend! It's a tiny place, 3 tables and, what, 5 or 6 seats at the counter? It's super cozy, super quaint and super sweet. The woman behind the counter and serving everyone was amazing. She had a smile and a genuinely positive attitude through and through. She made my wife and I feel very comfortable. The food is satisfying and delicious. Given, it was only my first time, I only had stomach space enough to try a few things like the beef udon soup, the pork tonkatsu with curry and rice, and the edamame and gyoza sides. The tonkatsu was cooked well; rather tender and still juicy. The curry was spicy but not in the hot sense. It was a smooth spice and very appropriate considering the rainy weather. The rice underneath was the perfect bedding of carbs. The beef udon soup my wife ordered for herself was just what the doctor ordered. It was rich and full-bodied. The beef was soft with the fat adding to the broth a savoriness making the udon delectable. The noodles were delicious. Edamame was standard fare and the gyoza was crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle. I will be back again to try the sashimi options and sushi and also, just to experience the friendly and personal guest service. I feel bad for not asking the woman her name, she was excellent and handled the full dining area to the T. I feel like the regulars would know her well. All in all, super good Japanese restaurant in the middle of Boyle Heights with a rooted history and friendly service. Be aware though, you will probably have to wait for a while when Otomisan is full. Like I mentioned before...it's tiny!

The Kodo trio comes with uni, toro, & wagyu and the Toro sampler comes with o-toro, chu-toro, akami. All of these handrolls were phenomenal & just left you wanting more. The Wagyu katsu you cook on a hot stone at the table which I liked as an interactive dish. The Wagyu cheeseburger was dripping with juice but still had those crunchy edges. The Uni pasta was beautiful & delicious. The Chimichurri prawns I could eat multiple plates of- the shell comes sliced down the middle so you just have to peel it off. For dessert we ordered the Kodo basque cheesecake & Miso chocolate torte. I love a basque cheesecake & the sesame crumble added great texture. The miso chocolate torte made me wish I ordered my own. Dropped by on a Saturday evening with my brother, no reservation. I was worried we'd be stuck waiting for an hour or more for a table but we were seated in less than ten minutes, despite the fact that it was a full house. The menu has an interesting assortment of traditional Italian pastas, Japanese classics, and Japanese-Italian fusion dishes. It's not a huge menu, but is just the right size to have a number of dishes I wish I could've tried all at once. I went with the bacon and mushrooms Japanese style sauce, which was a dashi and soy sauce base with bacon and mushrooms and a garnish of grated radish and nori. This was incredibly delicious, unique, and a true blend of Japanese and Italian flavors. The bacon was phenomenal and there was a generous amount on the plate. My brother got the arrabbiata. He asked them to not make it very spicy, but it still had a good kick (I definitely wouldn't have asked for it to be milder, but to each their own). The flavors were rich. And in both dishes, the pasta was cooked perfectly. Dinner comes with a complimentary salad and rolls. Our food came out fast, and our server was friendly. The owners were really nice, welcoming people. I loved the vibe of this place, with its dim lighting and quiet, laidback atmosphere. PASTA e PASTA is a gem and absolutely on my must-return-to list on my next trip to Little Tokyo.

It was not busy at all we got at right away and there was empty tables but our server could not remember a single request we asked for . We asked for Parmesan, the check along with Togo boxes on separate occasions (which I think are quite normal requests to ask for ) he forgot all of them and we had to ask his co-worker. At the end of the meal he apologized for forgetting the items and asked if we wanted a Togo bag for our meals which as you guessed he forgot again. I'm sorry but the restaurant was at like 20% capacity. Also they messed up on part of our order. All and all we will not be returning again Also the gratin we ordered was very hard to eat.

Had already left when we noticed it. Also told us cake fee was $10, but ended up charging us $20. Food-wise, very hit or miss. The unadon, hamburger steak, and curry udon were all really good, but the yakitori skewers tended to be disappointing. The Tsukune was dry, the Negima was quite bland. The Miso Black Cod was also quite overdone, became quite rubbery when served and also was cold. Overall, I would not come back again, or recommend it. The menu now leans much more toward fine dining, and the prices definitely reflect that. As someone who's more of a casual diner and really enjoyed the previous menu, this new direction just wasn't for me. The staff were very kind and took the time to explain all the changes, which I appreciated. However, we ordered about six dishes and were surprised at how small the portions were. On top of that, most of the items were unfortunately pretty bland. Sadly, I won't be returning, and I really miss the old menu.
