We love the Chow Mein Guy in Little Tokyo. Parking can be hard, but there are spaces. We have eaten there, it is all outdoor seating or do pick up. You can even have Door Dash go get it. We have done it all. The chow mein is so good and it is not expensive. All the food here is just as good as any fine dinning Chinese place. We love their shrimp dishes. My favorite is the deep fried fish. I don't care for their white rice so I would avoid that. The service is fast and very nice. They get your order right the first time, even with delivery. They have a Thai Ice Tea that is great so try that. Their truck is so cute and the entire area is super clean. The menu is pretty large and they have something for everyone. You will love it. Hands down great taste!! Don't be fooled by these high-end restaurants because by them you'll find this diamond in the rough! Yes, it's not Japanese and is in Japan town, but knowing it's here may change your mind about eating Japanese food. Fast and presentable, you may find yourself returning for more! So, I tried this place because it popped up in my DoorDash recommendations. I wouldn't order from them again though. The quality of the meat was terrible all around. The beef was literally inedible...it was so tough and chewy like they got the lowest quality beef they could find. I had to toss it out. And I hate wasting food, but there was no way anyone in my house was consuming that. The chicken was a bit better, but not by much...very fatty dark meat chicken. It would be great if this place would offer better cuts of meat for slightly higher prices. I'd pay for chicken breast and a better cut of beef. The shrimp was the best thing I ordered from here, but they were fully in the shell, which meant a lot of peeling and messiness to even be able to eat it. Honestly I think this truck smacks. At $11 for the OG bandit chow mein (comes with chicken), you get a hefty portion that can feed two and tastes good. If they have it in stock, you can add on a free soup too which is also really flavorful. They have a sign in front that advertises $7 chow mein, which totally got my friend. It was definitely a heaping portion still of noodles with a good Thai chili kick. I split it into two meals still (although I probably don't eat a lot compared to a lot of people). A bit greasy and I wish there was more veg. It was savory but not overly salty. I felt like it was missing a little bit of nuance in its sweetness but I can't pin what was missing. There was definitely still MSG because I was thirsty after, so that's not what it was missing. As soon as my bf saw this truck while we were in the area, we knew it was going to be our dinner! Haven't seen this truck the last few times we've been so we had to try it since we both love noodles!! They have a small seating/table area in front but too busy since people are walking by, ordering, and just crowding around. After we ordered, I walked over to the cafe around the corner for outside seating and grabbed a table while my bf waited for our food. Didn't take long at all and we were both very excited. We tried their Thai Lime Tea which was ABSOLUTELY amazing. It still had that strong Thai tea flavor but without any cream!! It was still sweet but the lime flavor really adds to the overall taste. Initially I saw this place on TikTok and was always too busy to try it. I thought they were in little Tokyo but they're located on 7th and Hill St. let's start with the value most of their noodle dishes are only $10 except their specialty dishes. Holy hell this place has gone down hill I used to get takeout here a lot back in 2022 and early 2023 Firstly, I ordered the Tom Yum shrimp chow mein (it has a different name now) It's terrible. I don't taste much of the Tom yum. Back then, this was amazing and packed full of flavour. The noodles were also too broken up that I had to use my fork to scoop the final bits up. It's also too soft and I swear I remember actually tasting some wok hey in it before. It also came out really fast which makes me suspicious that this was kinda premade. I work at nights nearby and a lot of fellow co-workers have been raving about this place. I finally tried it and wow it was great. First time I got the Bandit Chow Ho Fun which was really delicious. I wish the chicken was chopped up more but I still inhaled it. I added the fried egg which was a nice touch. Then recently, I got the Lazy Dragon which was really tasty. I was really thirsty afterwards so I think there is a lot of MSG in it. I also go the potstickers and the Chinese sausage. Both were delicious. Price wise, it beats a lot of the Little Tokyo places. My brother and I really like this place. The food is great and one of our favorites. I don't like that it's not consistent. I've walked over expecting it to be there (I live in the area) and its not there. I've gone to their IG and there's no info or way to confirm their location or status. Also, their bandit chow mien which is my favorite is out a lot. Once they had no Chow mien. If they fixed this they'd be a 5. Generally their service is friendly but there's one lady that serious and comes off as rude.
