I believe this is very good roadside bbq I got the brisket and others in my party got the pulled pork they were both very good. I would say that if you can't handle spice like me I would recommend mixing the mild and sweet sauce together, but a person in my party told me that the hot bbq sauce was very spicy but didn't kill the flavor like some spicy things can so that's a plus. They had such a nice layer of fat on them, but not too fatty. They were unctious. Love their sauces too. Conveniently located right at the intersection of East Parkway and Greenbrier Cove Road (road to the Ramsey Cascades Hike), we stumbled on Hungry Bear years ago after a hike. Being famished, we saw the smoker billowing out front and knew something was delicious was being served out of the smoker. Had one of the best BBQ experiences here years ago and have made multiple return visits on trips back to the area over the years. Camping around Pigeon Forge this trip, but we made it a priority to swing by for a return visit again after 5 years. Hungry Bear did not disappoint! Ordered the "Combo Four" which includes a generous portion of fall-off-the-bones ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and quarter chicken along with a couple of rolls and two side serving (I ordered Mac & Cheese and Green Beans). Everything was fall off the bone tender, smoky, sweet and delicious! Sides were delicious and their house BBQ sauces were perfect. The cashier/server was so friendly and welcoming. As an added bonus, they were pulling a bunch of extra ribs and cuts out of the smoker as we ate which made the whole experience just that much more perfect. We've visited a ton of BBQ spots around the region and this spot is one we continue to think of and return to whenever we're in striking distance. We had been planning on going to Delauders but when we arrived (7pm on a Thursday) it had already sold out of everything. We ended up coming here because it was really close to Delauders, and the yelp rating looked good. The BBQ was really average... basically similar to an average place that you can get in any state. Keep in mind I'm a bit of a BBQ snob so I may be in the minority here (it did seem to be popular). I had the ribs, which were overcooked, and did not have a strong smoky flavor. The chicken was great and super moist and juicy. The ribs was cooked perfectly but the flavor was lacking a little bit. The pulled pork was all right but inconsistent, there were some good and juicy pieces but then there were some super super dry pieces. It was stringy and dry like jerky. The beef was def my least favorite. It was dry and had no flavor. Wouldn't have gotten that again. The bbq sauces were great! I loved the mild and the sweet. They were the perfect sauce in my opinion and I would have gotten a bottle of that. I got the Cole slaw and potato salad. Cole slaw was your classic Cole slaw, it was solid and refreshing. I try to always lean to the positive, but being hangry isn't a help to me right now. My Wife and I are in Gatlinburg, and after driving most of the day, neither of us wanted to go out. The delivery choices were slim, but we used an app to order BBQ from here. We were given expected arrival times and they kept getting pushed later. After 2 hours, I tried to call the restaurant. All signs pointed to them being open, but I couldn't get anybody to pick up. I chat with a rep from the delivery app. They told me that the order was being prepared now and it should be to me in 65 minutes. I started at only 50, but after 120, I just had to wait 65 more. At this point, I'm ready for bed and the rep kindly cancelled/refunded the order. I ordered pulled pork, potato salad, Cole slaw, and a sausage. They have a unique method of removing the bones from ribs for their rib sandwich, so it's exactly how it sounds. A sandwich of pure rib meat. It is heavenly. The side items were ok, but it was the cole slaw that really shined. Slightly tangy and perfectly crunchy! They offer 3 different homemade bbq sauces. Found the mild sauce to be best option with the rib sandwich, as it provided a great tangy flavor without too much sweetness. Come here for the rib sandwich and some cole slaw!
