I was visiting from out of town, looking for something to eat driving from our cabin we saw hungry bear on the side of the road decided to stop since we hadn't had any BBQ yet on our trip. When I tell you this place was so good!!! And the prices you can't beat it!!! This place is worth the stop and I'll be back again!!! Everyone was friend as well when walking in!!

Place your order here. Delicious BBQ

Very good reliable BBQ served by super nice people. I had the Brisket and it was delicious. My girlfriend had the pulled pork sandwich. Also very good. A great way to end our day.

    Salt burger and fries.

Staff is ok; not exactly warm personalities. The burgers are so salty that they are ALMOST qualified to be meat-flavored salt patties. Fries were good. Soft drinks were properly mixed. $32 for two burgers, two sides, and two sodas. The location is quite scenic. Unfortunately, I think that any other burger place would have been better.

Very small town, hole in the wall, local spot feel. Exactly what we needed after the chaos of the downtown area. Hungry Bear was EVERYTHING we hoped for. Friendly, helpful, welcoming staff. Quiet, enjoyable atmosphere. Delicious home cooked BBQ and sides. Bonus - beautiful outdoor scenery with picnic benches and a creek to enjoy. We had fall off the bone, juicy tender full of flavor ribs. Melt in your mouth brisket and pulled pork. Creamy, flavorful Mac n cheese and delicious creamy (not wet) red potato salad. Omg. Full. Good portions. Reasonable prices. Not a single complaint. We all loved it. We all left feeling happier, full, light hearted. It was an all around great experience and worth every penny. Tip - bring cash to tip; tips can't be added to card purchases. You're not waited on, but, the staff are so prompt and friendly you'll likely want to leave them something extra. Check them out. I believe this is #2 and about 15 minutes drive out of the downtown area. It makes for a great little spot to enjoy a great meal.

The best thing on the menu. The ribs.

This place was absolutely flame. I'm from New England and I wanted some Tennessee barbecue and this place did not disappoint. Holy smokes I mean, literally, great little smokehouse. The best thing on the menu are the ribs. I packed those suckers down. They were so melty and soft and tender, and they fell right off the bone. They had such a nice layer of fat on them, but not too fatty. They were unctious. Love their sauces too. Their brisket was pretty decent, though it was a little drier than I would've liked, but very crushable and delicious. Service was fast. Inside a restaurant is no frills. White checkered table cloths nothing fancy, but nobody goes out for barbecue to sit fancy. It was perfect. Also pretty good value for the money. Definitely worth a visit when you're in Gatlinburg.

Such a great place! The restaurant is cute and the food is fabulous. We ordered ribs, pulled pork, wing and a burger. All great!

Hands down the BEST BBQ in the area. First discovered Hungry Bear BBQ after hiking Ramsey Cascades. Conveniently located right at the intersection of East Parkway and Greenbrier Cove Road (road to the Ramsey Cascades Hike), we stumbled on Hungry Bear years ago after a hike. Being famished, we saw the smoker billowing out front and knew something was delicious was being served out of the smoker. Had one of the best BBQ experiences here years ago and have made multiple return visits on trips back to the area over the years. Camping around Pigeon Forge this trip, but we made it a priority to swing by for a return visit again after 5 years. Hungry Bear did not disappoint! Ordered the "Combo Four" which includes a generous portion of fall-off-the-bones ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and quarter chicken along with a couple of rolls and two side serving (I ordered Mac & Cheese and Green Beans). Everything was fall off the bone tender, smoky, sweet and delicious! Sides were delicious and their house BBQ sauces were perfect. The cashier/server was so friendly and welcoming. As an added bonus, they were pulling a bunch of extra ribs and cuts out of the smoker as we ate which made the whole experience just that much more perfect. We've visited a ton of BBQ spots around the region and this spot is one we continue to think of and return to whenever we're in striking distance. A perfect spot for delicious BBQ after a day of hiking, scenic driving or if you simply find yourself anywhere this side of the Smokys!

I'm so excited that Hungry Bear has added hamburgers, wings, French fries, and other goodies to their already delicious menu. The burger was delicious, and the baked beans with barbecue meat was great!

We had been planning on going to Delauders but when we arrived (7pm on a Thursday) it had already sold out of everything. We ended up coming here because it was really close to Delauders, and the yelp rating looked good. The BBQ was really average... basically similar to an average place that you can get in any state. Keep in mind I'm a bit of a BBQ snob so I may be in the minority here (it did seem to be popular). I had the ribs, which were overcooked, and did not have a strong smoky flavor. I wasn't the biggest fan of the marinate that they had used. The sauces to add were all quite tasty (and essential because of the ribs flavor), and the prices were reasonable.

It's not knock your socks off bbq. Pulled pork was dry and hardly any flavor. Sides were very small. For $24.99 kind of a disappointment.

They definitely don't skimp on portions. The chips are seasoned really well, the cheese sauce has great flavor without being overly spicy, and if you're not a fan of heat, the jalapeños can be served on the side. One thing I appreciated was being able to choose our own BBQ sauce from the options available at the table. Both sauces were solid, and it was nice to customize each bite to our taste - one more sweet and the other more savory. The rest of our group was equally happy with their meals. My mom ordered the brisket sandwich and loved it, while my brother-in-law got the quarter BBQ chicken and said it was cooked perfectly: juicy, flavorful, and with just the right amount of pinkness that good smoked chicken often has. A great bonus is that you can add their ultimate salad bar to any entrée for only $8, which is a fantastic value. The staff was wonderful throughout our visit: kind, patient, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They answered questions without making us feel rushed and kept everything running smoothly for our group. We walked over after spending time at Ober Mountain, and it made for the perfect meal after a busy day. My only "complaint" is that they serve Pepsi products, but that's really just because I'm a devoted Coke fan, so I'll chalk that up to a personal character flaw rather than a restaurant problem. Highly recommend if you're looking for generous portions, great BBQ, and friendly service in Gatlinburg.

There was tons of yummy corn, beef, brisket, and they were nice enough to put my thousand island on the side because the sandwich is huge. I couldn't finish it there. The potato salad I ordered on the side was delicious, it had some bacon in it, and it was more savory forward in it, Amish style potato salad that has some sweet relish. Which I enjoyed a lot! Now the sandwich wasn't cheap, but it was well worth it, and we luckily got some seating and some rest from the rain while enjoying our really good food! My boyfriend got the Cuban, he was a bit worried because he hadn't had the sandwich before, but I knew he would like it so I ordered it for him and someone ate their entire sandwich (not me) so let that speak for itself! They make sure to pile those sandwiches high with meat, and they move so quickly our food came out, not even 10 minutes after we put our orders in and we were starving so it was much appreciated after walking the strip in Gatlinburg. The meat is falling-off-the-bone tender. And there are three BBQ sauces: mild, sweet and spicy. Here's the bad: The food is only as good as the sum of its parts. The ribs alone, okay. The pulled pork, practically bland. Potato salad and BBQ sauces, they're okay. Everything is not bad, but not good either. It's like BBQ made for people who are supposed to be watching their diet. Low sugar. Low salt. Low flavour. Here's the solution: Combine everything. Order the pretty good potato salad and the better than average baked beans, get a bit of each in your mouth, and boom: You've got a yummy mouthful. Did you get the well cooked but bland pulled pork? Worry not friends. Combine the BBQ sauces. Soak that pulled pork with two parts of the okay Spicy sauce, one part of the meh Sweet sauce and three parts of the, more flavorful but still missing something, Mild sauce. And tadaah, You've got the most amazing Pulled Pork Sandwich. Then, use that same sauce combo for your ribs to kick them up. Ultimately, it's a DIY BBQ situation and up to you to decide if the taste is worth the effort.
