Several of us ordered the Jumbo BBQ Nachos, and "jumbo" is no exaggeration, they were enormous and easily shareable. They definitely don't skimp on portions. The chips are seasoned really well, the cheese sauce has great flavor without being overly spicy, and if you're not a fan of heat, the jalapeños can be served on the side. One thing I appreciated was being able to choose our own BBQ sauce from the options available at the table. Both sauces were solid, and it was nice to customize each bite to our taste - one more sweet and the other more savory. The rest of our group was equally happy with their meals. My mom ordered the brisket sandwich and loved it, while my brother-in-law got the quarter BBQ chicken and said it was cooked perfectly: juicy, flavorful, and with just the right amount of pinkness that good smoked chicken often has. A great bonus is that you can add their ultimate salad bar to any entrée for only $8, which is a fantastic value. The staff was wonderful throughout our visit: kind, patient, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They answered questions without making us feel rushed and kept everything running smoothly for our group. We walked over after spending time at Ober Mountain, and it made for the perfect meal after a busy day. My only "complaint" is that they serve Pepsi products, but that's really just because I'm a devoted Coke fan, so I'll chalk that up to a personal character flaw rather than a restaurant problem. I may have stumbled upon my favorite Gatlinburg restaurant. This was the yummiest dinner I had the whole trip. The pulled pork and variety of sauces was so delicious! The food at Bennett's Pit Bar-B-Que was very much what you would expect from a BBQ place. We started with the fried pepperjack cheese with green chili which was amazing. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich and I had a slab of pork ribs. Both were very good. The restaurant is rustic but comfortable and the wood booths and tables were perfectly suited for BBQ. We easily got a table on a weeknight and got a preview of the food from the smell alone. First glance at the menu, I knew I had to have the deep fried deviled eggs. That's about as straight forward as it can be, if you like deviled eggs, go for it. The chow chow condiment with it was such a good complement. I got the honey bbq Jalapeño sausage sandwich, which came with 2 sides- i got green beans and mac and cheese. The sandwich was good and a big portion, with a surprising amount of heat to it. The sides were disappointing. The mac and cheese pasta was super soft and seemed overcooked- reminded me of KFC or Stouffers mac and cheese. The green beans were very watery and seemed like the canned kind, which in itself isn't a huge issue to me but wasn't very impressive. The service was great, I wish I could remember our server's name, she was great- attentive, helpful, and happy to joke around. The parking lot in the back made it very easy as well. The restaurant has a typical BBQ joint feel with a diner-style atmosphere, and parking was easy, which was a plus. If you're in Gatlinburg, you gotta stop here! My group of 9 came for a late lunch one day during our trip, per recommendation by our rental host. The place has a very cute, cabin/lodge feel to it, which fits in perfect with the Gatlinburg experience. Every table has extra barbecue sauce and napkins, meaning you can be as messy as you want while eating. My group split and order of the fried deviled eggs and pickle chips to start. Both were fantastic, but if you had to chose one, go for the fried deviled eggs. They were awesome and unlike anything you can get anywhere else! I personally got the baby back ribs for my entree with coleslaw and baked beans. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone finger-licking good and the coleslaw was surprisingly light and refreshing. The baked beans were probably made with brisket (at least that is my guess) which is a turn off for me. They were good but a little dry and didn't have enough bean flavor. My husband and I had a late dinner in Gatlinburg the night before we left. At 9:30pm there was not a whole lot to choose from that we could walk to. We decided to head over to Bennett's Pit Bar-B-Que and see if they were still serving. The host went and asked if they could take one more party, and was told yes. He walked us to the back area and seated us. The restaurant was really eclectic in its appearance. It was like a log cabin with tables that had the red and white tablecloths. Our favorite parts of the decor were the old time signs on the wall with comic book characters and the ones with the lunchbox and thermos. Took us way back for sure! After about 7 minutes, I went to the counter and asked what time they would stop serving food. The guy told me they stopped at 10 and reassured me that someone would come and take our order. It took another 5 minutes before our server came back and said, "No one told me you were back here! I am SO sorry and I'm going to make sure I take good care of you." We had already chosen our meals so we gave her our drink orders and food orders at the same time. I ordered a lemonade, then ordered the Chicken Supreme sandwich with fries and coleslaw. My husband got an Arnold Palmer and went with the catfish dinner with fries and corn. Our server, Cristin, made good on her promise to take good care of us! She went and got our drinks immediately. She let us know that the fish would take 7 minutes to cook and we were okay with that. The food came out nice and hot. My husband tore into his catfish and said it was crunchy and very flavorful. He said the tartar sauce tasted homemade, but we did not get a chance to ask. My sandwich was delicious, and the fries were piping hot. The only thing I did not like so much was the coleslaw. It was very juicy - so much so that I had to shake each forkful before I ate it. I tried a couple of the barbecue sauces on my fries and they were very tasty. We also shared a blackberry cobbler topped with vanilla bean ice cream, which was very good. When Cristin brought the bill, she thanked us for staying and eating with them and she apologized again that no one told her we were in her back section. My recommendation? Definitely check this place out for yourself. Ask for Cristin as your server - she was excellent! Go earlier than 9:30 Don't get the coleslaw if you don't like it super juicy.
