From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly set the stage for what would be an unforgettable meal. The rustic charm of the decor, combined with the lively buzz of happy diners, made it feel like a home away from home. I started with the Shrimp and Grits, and let me tell you, it was a revelation. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, plump, and juicy, seasoned to perfection with a subtle kick that danced on my taste buds. The grits were creamy and rich, with just the right amount of buttery goodness, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that left me wanting more. Next up was the Fried Chicken and Waffle Jr. Plate, a true masterpiece. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, seasoned with a secret blend of spices that elevated it to new heights. The waffle was fluffy and golden, a perfect vessel for soaking up every drop of syrup. While I do wish they used Vermont maple syrup grade A, it was by no means a flaw, it only added to the charm of the dish. The Sweet Tea was the perfect accompaniment to my meal. It was refreshingly sweet, with a hint of lemon that brightened each sip and left a lingering taste of summer. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who made sure every need was met with a smile. Their genuine hospitality added to the overall experience, making me feel like a valued guest. Frank's Chicken and Waffle is a culinary gem in Albuquerque, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by for a meal that will delight your senses and warm your soul.

The chili was excellent came with a large side of rice and beans, lettuce, pico sour cream guacamole was absolutely delicious. Same as the salad I replaced the blue cheese with goat cheese and it was excellent. The dressing was so good and the fruit fresh. The margarita, perfect not too sweet not artificial tasting at all. Now, the tamale oh my goodness I've never had such a moist tamale maybe the best tamale I've ever had. The pupusa was delicious and they didn't skimp on the cabbage salad. I expected something different with the beef stew. It was much thinner and Brosier than I expected, but it had an absolutely delicious flavor and plenty of meat. I would definitely come back here and I would definitely recommend this to anybody

The server also failed to tell us that we could order only off of the one menu that fit the exact time of our visit, which happened to coincide with the time that they switch from offering lunch to the time they serve dinner. The cheeseburger was very tasty. The grilled salmon tacos were good but served with flavorless beans and bland rice. Not a place we'd refuse to visit again, but definitely not one we're eager to return to either.

2nd time the Santa Fe Foodies have dined here, this time with 10 members. We came on a Friday so we…read morecould (again), order the Fish and Chips. Five of us ordered this dish. The fish is terrific; moist on the inside, crispy on the outside, not fishy; a really nicely done fried fish. The fries were a big miss! Last time they were overly salted, and we did mention this to the staff. This time, it was worse; not too salty, but everyone was unhappy with the texture. Some thought they were frozen (they had that frozen fry texture), but of course, they were not, we were told. The taste was OK, but after a few fries, none of us could eat any more. They all ended up in the trash. Too bad because the most challenging part of fish and chips is the fish, which Rowley's does very well. Chips? Nope! You can ask for a Caesar instead, but it's rather lackluster (more later). My wife had the Green Chile Tuna Melt, which was pretty good and unusual. They use wild yellowtail to make the salad, and it was a nice upgrade from the usual. Not fishy like Tuna can be (although if you like tuna salad, which we do, that's not an issue). Had a nice kick from the Chile, nice bread, etc. We recommend this dish. Came with a side Caesar salad, which was pretty bland. It's all about the dressing, of course, and this version didn't seem to have any anchovies I could detect, nor the necessary other ingredients to make it remarkable. Could have been ranch or any other 'white' dressing. Another miss. Tried the Roasted Brussels Sprouts, which were pretty good (need more roasting), and need the bacon as a default. The version at Box Car is far superior. But not bad here, not a miss. But better We also tried the Grilled & Roasted Vegetables topped with feta. This dish was delicious! A really nice side for those who want something healthy with their fried fish. The waiter knew we didn't like the fries, so he 'comped' us dessert, which was a very nice gesture. We tried the Bread Pudding and the Mango Cheesecake. The cheesecake was way too cool, so its texture was hard and not what I'd normally expect. There wasn't a trace of Mango I could detect. The crust was nice. Not a miss, but not something I'd order again. The bread pudding was pretty good, not the best in class, but more successful than the cheesecake. Not overly sweet, thankfully, but a bit dense. Service was very good! Our server was Gerson C, who got everything right. The kitchen served the food promptly, and everyone was served at once. But overall, too many misses for me to be convinced to go back.

She had the Cadillac Margarita and I ordered the Hibiscus Margarita. Both were very good. We ordered the yellowtail ceviche with the blue corn tortilla chips. The presentation and portion was impressive. This was put together very well and the freshness of all the combined ingredients were spot on. What a great start. We ordered our entrees and inquired about the wine by the glass selections. Unfortunately, this is where things started to go South. Our nice young server (first night serving) didn't know anything about the wines. They had wines from various regions that we were unfamiliar with the names and profiles. My wife chose a Malbec from Argentina which we are somewhat familiar with and I rolled the dice and selected a Sauvignon Blanc from Baja California. We asked for a sample taste of each and our server left and didn't come back until 5 minutes after our entrees were served. Fortunately both wines were good so they came back soon after with full glasses. My wife ordered the elk chops with crimini mushrooms and bacon on top of a black garlic mash potato. The presentation was beautiful. Her first bite and instantly her face looked like she was about to hurl. Apparently the first bite was grissle. She reluctantly pushed on and was careful on the next bites and said the elk was chewy. This is not how elk should be. I cook game proteins often. Elk should not be chewy. I checked it out and saw one chop was a little overcooked (medium) and the other chop was cooked proper with a hard sear and medium rare. She did say the few mushrooms and bacon she had were good. LOL! I had the whole fried red snapper with crab risotto and broccolini. This was impressive looking when it arrived and the fish was fried perfect. Unfortunately the risotto under the fish was al dente, pasty, and a little dry.. The cook did not use enough broth to cook the rice through gradually and reduced down and repeat with the broth like a good creamy risotto should be cooked. My wife hardly ate her meal and was still hungry and ordered their churros. You can't go wrong with homemade churros. When they arrived, it looked promising, but that first bite was very sweet and the exterior was over fried and the interior was doughy and not a good texture. If I had to guess, the oil was too hot when they fried them. What a bummer. Everything seemed disjointed and not executed correctly after the cocktails and appetizer. Perhaps it was an off night because there are a lot of good reviews. I wish we could have gave a good review because everything was presented so nice.
