I can't recommend Hungry Harvest more!! I've been a weekly customer for more than 6 months and have never been disappointed with my produce delivery. I choose to customize every box so I can be as creative or conventional with what's on our menu for the week, and have really felt a savings on my grocery bill as I'm now only purchasing meat/dairy and packaged goods at the store. I love reducing food waste, and have constantly been shocked at the reasons why grocery stores may not have accepted the beautiful produce I receive (no lemon is too big in my book!). I've also tried several of the add-on items including bread and fresh pesto and it has all been delicious. Great experience with this company, and amazing produce that is 100% usable and tasty. We have fresh vegetables with almost every dinner and there are recipes on the interwebs for anything I am not familiar with. The delivery folks are wonderfully polite and will wrap my box in plastic if it's raining. I love that I get a text when my box is on the way and when it's delivered so it's not sitting outside being lonely. I've recommended this company to pretty much everyone I know. The only reason I can't give a 5 star is because they did not give me the option of placing more than a few things on the "never send me this" list when I set up my account. For example, when I set up my initial account, I could only select a few types of vegetables we would never use, instead of having the option to select ALL the ones I won't ever use. While you can customize your box each week, I have not always been able to remove certain vegetables from our boxes, that could be operator error. Unfortunately that means I'm still throwing out produce which is counter intuitive to this programs mission. Primarily we struggle with using all the greens like collard & kale, and none of us eat the tomatoes outside making sauces. I do give away when I can but my friends and neighbors are done eating my tomatoes and Kale too. I've started taking them with me to the downtown area and giving them to the homeless. I don't know what else to do with them. Overall this is one of my favorite things and if I were Oprah I'd give everyone I know a subscription. We signed up for this great service about 2-3 Months ago and LOVE IT? We get the $25 full harvest- plenty for two people. Every Sunday its like Christmas to get a bag of new produce. It makes me try to cook with new veggies and i get to eat fresh fruit every day. Not to mention the good cause. Hungry Harvest is a wonderful service. Each week, I get a bag of fresh produce delivered to my door. They send a weekly email informing me what will be in this week's bag, and on the day of delivery, they text me letting me know when I can expect the delivery. In addition to providing great food at a great cost ($15 for a bag of fruits and veggies), this program helps reduce food waste. The produce in the bags would have otherwise gone to a landfill which is unfortunate because it's beautiful, healthful food. Also, with every bag purchased they donate food to a local family in need. I have been receiving Hungry Harvest produce for a few months and I really like it for several reasons: 1) You can put your delivery on vacation if you'll be out of town. 2) They use produce that often gets thrown out. This means less food waste and farmers get a profit for food that would otherwise be discarded. My produce has been surprisingly nice and doesn't appear to be "seconds". 3) They deliver to my door every other Sunday! (You can also get the weekly delivery but I opt for the every-other week delivery). They call or text you when it's been delivered. 4) They donate food to those in need and employ formerly incarcerated people. 5) You can get a "half bushel" for $15/week or "full bushel" for $25/week. (We get the half bushel.) 6) You can identify what produce you don't like (radishes for example) and they'll omit them from your box. 7) You can cancel at anytime! 8) If you are referred by someone (and provide their name) you and the referee get 50% off your order. I absolutely love using Hungry Harvest. 95% of the produce we get is in near perfect condition despite sometimes looking a little "ugly", but most of the time it even looks like what I'd buy at the store. They have a good variety of options and seasonal items, and I'm always taking advantage of their add on items and the ability to customize my weekly harvest. I also love that I can skip a week without a hassle if I'm going away or simply can't fit all of the food into my meal plan that week. I appreciate that they even have a tracker that shows you when your box will delivered, and there's never any funny business with delivery times changing or packages not showing up, which is saying a lot living in a city. This is a fantastic service. It's just the right amount of "classic" veggies and fruits with a variety of less well known ones some weeks. We have found some new favorites like starfruit and Uniq fruit and watermelon radishes. The quality has been outstanding, better than the average grocery store. I used to get a meal kit delivery service- but I didn't like that I was locked into that meal and often found myself using the ingredients to make other meals. I started getting Hungry Harvest about 3 months ago, and I can't stop raving about it! I love the variety and quality of produce. As someone who loves to cook, it pushes me out of my rut of the same 3 vegetables, and I get to try new recipes with new foods! I have cooked with eggplant, white asparagus, spaghetti squash, and so much more! It's so easy since it is delivered right to your door, and they let you know what is coming in advance so you can plan ahead and pick up any additional things you may need for the week. I love this company! They prevent waste, work with companies that promote socially responsible practices (employing homeless, ex offenders, job training). It is a great deal (compare other CSAs!). I love that they are quick to respond to you on their website I am having them come speak to my students at my work because they do such great work. So impressed! I started using Hungry Harvest earlier this year after hearing my co-workers rave about it. And it has surpassed all my expectations! You get to pick the produce that you receive, unlike in most CSAs. It is cheaper than what you pay for produce at the grocery store, and it is delivered to your house. I have been using them for the last couple of months and the service is better than I thought it would be. Its really nice having an assortment of fresh produce delivered to your house every Sunday. Each week I get about the $15 worth of food that the box cost so I dont fell like I am paying a premium. It also helps me be more creative with my cooking since I dont chose what I get. They have strong accountability. One time they sent everyone bad avocados so they sent everyone a promo code for a few bucks. Before I joined Hungry Harvest, I was kinda done with prepackaged meal services and CSAs. With services like Blue Apron, I hated how much packaging there was and how little variety was offered. With CSAs, it was having to pick up your box at sometimes shifting locations at a specific time slot. Hungry Harvest joined the best of both at a significant price cut and with a fantastic mission -- reducing food waste. I am so happy some friends introduced me to Hungry Harvest and I've been telling everyone about it since my first box. I'm cooking sooooo much more and wasting sooooo much less, which feels great. The produce and packaged products are always top notch and I'm always shocked that some of these items were ever considered unsellable (i.e. there is a tiny blemish on the produce or something with an expiration date that is a week - less than a year away). My Hungry Harvest delivery is always a fun highlight to my weekend with a friendly little text to alert you when your box has been delivered. I also haven't had to use their customer service, but I've heard it's excellent from other members. I can't recommend Hungry Harvest enough. I discovered hungry harvest through a Facebook ad and was skeptical at first, about ordering produce to our house. But, I figured that I've done worse things with $20 and decided to give it a try after reading some reviews. I used a coupon code that I found online for our first box. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect for the first box, but I was pleasantly surprised. The produce was fresh and delicious! It was fun at first to see some of the apples that were slightly bigger than the ones I'm used to seeing at the store. It definitely makes you wonder how often grocery stores aren't accepting perfectly edible delicious fruits and veggies because they aren't all "one size fits all". We continued to order every week and our boxes come on Friday's. We get a text when they're on the way and a delivery person drops out boxes off on the porch. We even get a text to confirm that the box was delivered. I enjoy looking into the boxes every week almost like a kid on Christmas morning. We've received some varieties of produce that I have never seen in stores which we have fun looking up and tasting together as a family. The quality of the produce is just as good, if not better than we would buy from our local stores. Sometimes we receive organic produce that we definitely couldn't afford on our family budget. Most of the time I dont see any issues with the produce at all. We have been using this service for several months now and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Their website is super easy to navigate and makes planning meals for the week a breeze. I LOVE not having to buy produce at the store anymore (huge time saver) and I love that I can customize our HH box so I know what we're going to be receiving on Friday. So I have mixed feelings about this company. Though I love the model of the company I do not love their business practices. I appreciate that the company is saving food. The food is fresh (for the most part) and their delivery is timely after the first couple deliveries and they figure it out. I understand that the fruits and vegetables are salvaged, but that doesn't mean that when you are paying for produce that you continuously receive rotten produce. This is the part that gets me. I didn't report this once but four times and every time, they apologize give a piss poor discount and credit it toward the next delivery. I got tired of paying for rotten food despite the convenience. It is not right that the company is selling ROTTEN FOOD! If it is rotten throw it away that is not salvaged that is bad service. Customer service is prompt but they act as though the complaint is normal and no big deal. I want to be with a company that actually gives quality food. The prices are not so great that I feel the I should pay for rotten food. I just stopped my service. I was over the ring around... It wasn't as if it was once it was 4 times and I have pictures to prove it. I won't post them because it is bad enough that I feel compelled to write a negative review. I am a business owner and wouldn't want to see this kind of response to my business , but something has to give and the company needs to stop turning a blind eye to their rotten produce and poor responses to their shortcomings. I first heard of Hungry Harvest on Shark Tank and was so excited to see a company that was started locally! I have been looking for something like this for a couple of years, but most of the companies were out of my budget. Hungry Harvest has been great in adapting the boxes to what you want/like. I had asked a couple of months ago if they were considering having an 'all veggie' box just like their 'all fruit' box as well because my boyfriend and I don't eat fruits that often. About a week or so later, that option became available and I was personally notified by someone on their team! I also found out that they have partnered with the company I work for in the DC Metro area through a program called Prescription Produce that helps recently discharged patients eat healthier.
