We used this company because they were recommended to us. From the very beginning red flags popped up. Multiple voice mails were left for a call back to obtain a quote for a 10 mile move. It took days to get a call back and a small number of excuses as to the delay. We looked past that and obtained the quote after going through our inventory room by room over the phone. We accounted for all of our furniture and 50-100 boxes. We were given a reasonable quote, which we later realized was a drastic underquoting. On the day of the move they showed up with a truck that was clearly too small. I showed them the garage first, then the furniture and boxes that needed to be moved. Instead of admitting they brought too small of a truck, the movers started moving. Almost three hours later our 2 bedroom apartment was still being packed up. We literally left, closed on our new home, and came back to many of our belongings laying on the dirty pavement while they struggled to fit everything on the truck. While we were chatting with a neighbor we received snarky comments from the owner (Vernon) about how there was way more to move than what they were told which was a blatant lie, or miscommunication between the owners, because I personally went room by room during the inventory discussion. They had to bring their 26 foot truck, which should have been brought from the very beginning, for the last four items.
My husband observed one of the employees drop our week old $500 Dyson vacuum off the back of the truck onto the pavement. Not a word was said to us about it. I personally observed our dolly carelessly laid on the ground. Our dining table frame squashed under heavy objects and our couch legs were pulled off as the movers forced it out the front door, again witnessed with my own eyes. When our items were delivered to our new home, damage was found. Our dolly had the wheel and pin snapped clean off. When we presented this to the owner Amanda, she tried to say her employee said it was broken before which is absolutely NOT the case. She said the wheel and pin could be put back on. Again, not the case considering the wheel and pin were snapped clean off. She told my husband she would follow up with him about the dolly and three weeks later, not a peep has been heard, blatantly disregarding a claim for damaged property. We also discovered that one of our couch legs are in fact broken and will no longer stay attached to the couch frame.
As the cherry on top of this nightmare, when it came time to pay the bill we were 30 minutes under the longest time quote but our bill was well over $100 more than quoted. When I presented this to Vernon, I was told that I was wrong. That he "trained his wife" and there was no way we were given the lower price. He said that they have "always been $120/hr" when you can look on thumbtack.com and see a lower price listed per hour. When I assured him I absolutely was given that price, he proceeded to stand in my home and tell me I was wrong, all but accusing me of lying about it. Instead of finishing the conversation he stormed off as I was speaking and left the house, never coming back and leaving his employee to handle the matter.
Whatever you do, proceed with caution and DO YOUR RESEARCH, like we should have done, about this company. There are several reviews about Vernon being rude and belligerent and my husband and I can confirm that is absolutely the case. He has no professional tact when it comes to handling issues or admitting to wrong doing when property is damaged and came underprepared for the job.
The fact that we have had zero response about our damaged property has incentivized us to warn other potential consumers about the short comings and out right disrespect displayed by this company and more importantly its owners. read more
