We also went over the mileage predictions. On moving day, Joseph and Matt showed up with their truck and they busted their asses loading. I had everything pre-staged ready to go in about 40 boxes and they padded wrapped my furniture. They were done in just over an hour. Moving into my new place...just over an hour. Again, my old place although a 2300 sq/ft house had minimalist contents. The great news is Joseph's prediction on time and mileage was spot on and I had no damage to my possessions. Listen... When it comes to moving, Joe & Morningstar Movers are the GOAT! I needed move out of a storage unit with a second stop for the remainder of my belongings from a residence into an apartment. On first contact Joe explained what the hourly rate was, what they provided during the move, and ask to schedule a walk through of the storage facility so he could provide an accurate quote. Joe is a master communicator! ~ He was in regular contact with me via text and phone during the planning process. ~During the walk through he explained any special care that would be taken for particular items. He provided a quote based on distance from the storage unit and the truck and the apartment where I was moving. Any circumstances that would affect the quote were made clear. ~ During the move Joe would point out any items that were worn, damaged, or missing obvious parts before taking control of them and loading them on the truck. I was updated throughout the move as to the timing and how it related to the quote. Tetris King! ~ The packing of my belongings on the truck was expertly done like some Tetris savant all while insuring everything was safe and secure. ~ Items of value and importance were cared for during staging between the storage unit, elevator, and being placed on the truck with the same care used when being moved into my apartment. ~ Joe and his employee (I unfortunately forgot his name) hustled their butts off throughout the move even when it was realized I severely underestimated the distance between the elevator and my apartment by A LOT! ~ The team happily placed my belongings in the relevant rooms and even helped getting heavy items into place. The value in hiring Morningstar Movers is in the unexpected and attention to detail is the ultimate sign to good service. Joe doesn't miss even the smallest nuts and bolts! I mean that literally. Due to poor packing on my part and unbeknownst to me a few nuts and bolts to my desk came loose and went missing. I was made aware of this the next day after the move was complete when the truck was being cleaned out and they were found. Joe took the time to collect them and asked if they were mine. He also went out of his way to return them to me that same day. Joe at Morningstar Moves took a bit of an odd job for me. I put in a Yelp project request but needed a playset moved from my neighbor's yard, to mine. He was very fast and responsive. We did a quick phone call so I could give him the specifics of my project and he gave me a general estimate. He confirmed wanting to do a quick FaceTime video, as he wanted to see if there was cement involved in the playset structure base and its installation into the ground, as that would have caused some considerable extra labor and hardships. Thankfully all was well and I got the easier version of the quote. On the scheduled day he texted when he was enroute, arrived and had a quick consultation with me so he understood where I wanted it placed and my spray paint markings for the spot and off he and his other team member were to get the tools and the equipment. They quickly disassembled the slide and swing arm extension and then, as a team with a dolly, helped relocate the 300-something lbs base and reassembled everything back into place. He was responsive, a good communicator, a fast worker and provided additional guidelines and recommendations on the final items we would need to handle for the playset. I spoke with a representative and booked the day of my move. Mind you I was told I was booked the date I requested. We booked a WALK THROUGH less than a week before my move. I was texted not called inquiring are we still scheduled for the walk through but unfortunately the day we agreed that I booked was now full and they could not move me. Stating it's a first come 1st serve thing? What ever that means. I booked the day so that should have made me 1st served. I recently had the opportunity to work with Morningstar movers; they helped me move a one bedroom apartment. These guys are great! They're friendly but don't waste your time, which is appreciated because time is money! They charge $130 per hour with some travel fees. They basically use uhaul and their brute strength to move you! We were supposed to start at 9, but they couldn't get to me until 10am; they were communicative about their whereabouts and did not leave me hanging. They texted the night before to confirm we were still on. They even helped me move a bed to the dumpster AND fixed my living room coffee table without being asked. I put a call out for help on Monday morning because the movers I hired to move my furniture from Miami Beach to Kenosha were unable to complete the job because it was only the driver that showed up and obviously he could not move this sofa up four flights of steps by himself. He managed to get it inside of the Underground garage and he left it in my parking spot. Joe got back to my ASAP call for help and said he could get it done on Wednesday. Joe and Sam arrived on time and were finished within an hour! I recently had to move my dad from one apartment to another (including getting rid of many things in order to downsize), and had only 4 days to complete everything since I was flying in from out of town. DON'T DO IT Desperate for an affordable mover, I tried this place out after being given a very reasonable quote. Twice I was told he would stop by to verify the amount of things I had to be moved. He never showed up. I ended up sending a few videos of each level of my house including the garage and basement. He confirmed the original price I was given. On moving day, he and another man showed up in a Uhaul that was far too small resulting in them having to make multiple trips. He then added nearly another thousand dollars to the total he'd given in the first place saying he didn't realize how much I had to move. He would have known had he showed up when he said he would! He lied to me and claimed he never got parts of the video even though he had confirmed receipt via text. Other than pay the man, what was I going to do? He had half of my belongings! He told me he could make a third trip but it would cost me almost another thousand so we ended up having to move a significant amount of our things by ourselves. What was the point in hiring help if this is how it ended up? At the new home, our beds were left taken apart, our recliner in 2 pieces, mattress and clothes in the garage... nothing was in the right room even though it was labeled correctly. I normally would not have expected this but I was promised things would be in the right place and assembled before they were done. All this to say, it was an expensive rip off from a conman who had me in a chokehold and knew it. I would rather pull my belongings in a wagon than to have this company darken my doorstep again. Edited to add: apparently when you leave an honest review, you also get threatening direct messages as a bonus. This is my first and only review of this company and Joseph must be getting his unhappy customers confused as evidenced by this reply. They quickly responded to an urgent moving request during an extremely stressful and emotional time and Joseph was so positive, helpful and understanding that I actually was able to calm down and focus on the task at hand.
