I own a 2012 XC70 purchased new from Hunter Volvo. This past Friday, June 21st, it wouldn't start and I called for Volvo's Roadside Assistance. About 2 hours later I was in the service department at Hunter Volvo. Kevin Bradish (Service Manager) took my car to the repair bay promptly. Ray Vaughn (Shop Manager) found a bad cell and replaced the battery. I was in and out in just 30 minutes. Both Ray and Kevin were polite, professional and extremely helpful. I purchased the car from Kevin Brazanskas two (2) years ago and have been very satisfied with all aspects of Hunter Volvo. My only suggestion is to provide hot Krispy Kreme doughnuts to all waiting customers!! lol Thanks for taking great care of me and my XC70! read more

It was in great condition clean carfax, regular service, no accidents and I had a year left on my waranty but went over the milage. So far, in a year, I've spent more than 6k on services ranging from a complete reboot of the sensor system (the vehicle literally slammed on the breaks several times creating a major safety hazzard), also the engine cooling system needed to be replaced, the sunroof and heating/ac all had to be replaced. On my last repair, I dropped the car off on Friday and found out it would take nearly a week for backordered parts (with a 3k service bill). I asked for a loaner vehicle, but unfortunately they didn't have availability. I even considered trading it in for another model but there wasn't anyone there that was interested in helping me. I waited for 3 hours for nobody to give me any answers. I got tired of bugging the staff every half an hour to remind them I was still there waiting. I ended up catching an uber to the nearest car rental location that set me back an additional $400 so i could have transportation over the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm so disappointed. Its supposed to be luxury car and I feel like I'd have better service at a Kia dealership. I will never buy another Volvo, and as soon as the car is repaired I'm trading it in for a functional vehicle. Its sad, because I wanted to love this beautiful car and had heard so many good things in the past about the Volvo brand. *update On a positive note, the young lady in sales, Sparrow, tried to make things better, reached out directly and apologized for any role she played in my bad encounter. First off if you take your car for repair to a dealership and it is not under warranty you might want to wise up. I was forced to go there because Volvo won't release proprietary software for certain services. This place is trying to get into your wallet from the moment you arrive. It starts with the alignment sensors, then moves to the 21 point inspection (which recommends repairs that are absolutely not needed). When the bill arrives, you discover it far exceeds what you were quoted, and that you also had to pay extra for shop supplies that were definitely not used on your specific service. Next they'll be upcharging you for soap in the bathroom!!!- don't get ripped off. Take your vehicle to honest independent repair shops. read more

This will sound funny but I rented a Volvo at the airport and couldn't figure out how the fob worked to lock/unlock the car. TherE were no buttons! The Rental agency was not reachable so I called Hunter. The woman who answered the phone was so friendly and didn't make fun of my plight at all :) She went out of her way to find someone who proceeded to walk me through the process. This gave them no profit but a lot of good will in my book. I recommend buying from them based on their service mindedness. read more

Be careful purchasing a used car from this place! They have a good selection of Volvos, just go over the car with a fine toothed comb before buying. I purchased a used 2012 Volvo a few weeks ago from this dealership and have been back several times with issues. 1. I noticed soon after buying that the AWD Volvo came with three different kinds of tires on it, one of which was bald and had a slow leak. Volvo's own owner's manual insists all tires be the same. There were 3 different speed ratings on the tires out of 4 total! They wouldn't replace them, so that's $600 bucks for tires I'm out 3 weeks after getting the car. 2. One of the rear view mirrors was broken and they said that they would fix it "in good faith", which was nice of them as I hadn't broken it, and it was pretty obviously already broken when I bought it. 3. Two days after getting it back sensors go haywire in the charging system (thankfully fixed under warranty). I love the car and I'm slowly spending the money required to keep it SAFELY on the road, but I am pretty amazed that a luxury brand like Volvo would sell used Volvos in this condition. It's unfortunate because with a small effort on the dealership's part to make sure their used car was in good condition before selling, this whole process would've been much better and I would be leaving a much happier customer. read more

Absolutely ridiculous customer service in the service department. On two separate occasions they have canceled repair appointments, after we have already arrived and waited for over an hour, because the special ordered part was no longer available. Hector, the manager, kindly reached out to help us resolve this but zero follow through has occurred and two weeks later, we still have a broken car and I am trying to chase down someone in the service department--again. I will NEVER buy a car from this dealership which is unfortunate as their sales team is lovely but simply cannot handle my time being wasted by their service team. I HAVE to give these guys a shout out for doing something they DID NOT NEED TO DO in the industry - while vacationing in Montreat/Black Mountain, NC, my family Volvo had a tire blowout and we hauled it to the nearby Firestone dealership in Asheville - the car had locking lug nuts and the Firestone fellas could not remove them. Hunter Volvo agreed to loan their tire key to the Firestone dealership which allowed us to get our tires changed at minimal disruption to our trip. Volvo advisor Shannon Hart lives up to her name like the Grinch - because their hearts are 3 times larger than normal hearts. I was in Asheville, on vacation, 500 miles away from home. Shannon was incredibly helpful in communicating with me the every step of the way and was a true advocate to get me on the road this afternoon and eventually further up north for Christmas. I'm incredibly grateful for and humbled by her exceptional customer service. I was in such good hands with her, there were no surprises, and she genuinely cares. AND they washed my car! The dealership has TWO waiting rooms - one with TV, the quiet room is without. There was a cellphone charging station in the quiet room and there were complimentary snacks for waiting customers. I'm sitting here waiting for our Volvo XC 90 to be serviced for oil change and a recall and wasn't given a loaner. We have always been given a loaner vehicle every time we have had our Volvo XC 90 serviced here. We live over 2 hrs from Hunter Volvo and purchased our vehicle new from them. I'm very disappointed in the service we are currently receiving. Will have to reconsider if this is the place to purchase our next Volvo.......customer service is doesn't exist.....so sad. read more

i am writing this review to make you aware of the recent experience we had at Hunter Volvo in Hendersonville, North Carolina.  Originally, we had traveled to this dealership in search of a new Subaru to replace our existing one. But as we were walking the lot, the Volvo S60 sedan caught our eye. The salesman did not seem inclined to want to show that particular car to us. We had to ask repeatedly for them to take us over and get acquainted with the car. Our salesman, Alex, had some knowledge of the Subaru, but had never been inside of a Volvo. Whatever questions we asked were answered with, "I don't know," and we had no demonstration of the features that the car was equipped of. Please note, we are not blaming the salesman for this, but rather the dealership for their lack of training.  In the past we owned a Volvo, and were happy with the quality, performance, and the dealerships. So, we expected nothing less than a very pleasant experience, and a high level of customer service. Sadly, this was not the case. As noted above, we did not receive any education on the car, the options associated with it, and where to obtain knowledge or general or information. in addition, there were several areas of contention with the dealership. - The 2018 model S60 sedan had a sticker with an advertised price that they claimed was for a different car. They refused to honor that price. - The dealership claimed the car was new, and we had to point out to them that it had 6000+ miles on it. - We finally agreed upon a price and signed up for an extended warranty. The experience we had with the financial representative was courteous and professional. - Since it was late at night, we were told to bring the car back for detailing in to get a 2nd key fob. As we drove away, we realize that the tire pressure indicator warning signal was on, but the dealership is closed so we could not go back to have this adjusted. This light was not on when we test drove the car. We are not sure why it would come on in between.  - No one physically examine the car with us, and when we got home we noticed two scratches gouged into the front bumper on the driver side, and that some trim on the interior moonroof was hanging down. - The following morning we call the dealership to alert them to the issues we had found and have the car detailed. Alex instructed us we to drop the car off and it would be cleaned up for us, but that his manager would have to address the imperfections issues. - When we brought the car to the dealership, we felt very unwelcome. No one greeted us or thanked us for our business. There was no clear communication on the status of our car, and we kept asking for an update so that we could leave and then return. We were repeatedly told that it was almost finished and ended up sitting around the dealership four hours. No one even indicated the lounge or offered so much is a bottle of water to us. We had come in very excited about our new car but the experience became very negative very quickly.  - When we brought up the issue of the scratches, we were told that we had to direct our concerns to our sales agent, Alex. But we had to wait for Alex to free up from several different customers and kept trying to reach him in between Road demonstrations.  - When all is said and done, we were there 3 to 4 hours waiting for car to be detailed and some updated regarding the scratches. Finally, Alex told us that detail and could not get the scratches out and that we could either take the car as is or get our check back. We ask him to be very clear on this, and to double check with his superior. That these were our only options. When he returned with the floor manager, their exact words were to " take it or leave it." - Again we asked for clarification as to that being our only two options. They affirmed that this was their stance. No negotiation, apology, or alternative options.  Needless to say after our long afternoon there in lack of warmth or appreciation, we left with our check back in our hand.  In closing, we wanted to make you aware of our issues and also to express how tired we found the show room to be. Our perception of Volvo has always been that is a luxury car, and should have associated show rooms in service. Go to Greenville Volvo. That's where we ended up a new car. read more

I had an awful Experience at Volvo. I have had my vehicle serviced at several other Volvo dealerships, and this one came up short. My vehicle was not fixed, I was quoted over $1,000 for a major repair to my motor, when all I needed was a few spark plugs. I feel like they would have taken me for all I am worth. A local mechanic fixed my car for $70 and mentioned the motor had not been taken apart at all to be properly diagnosed. Please don't go there, there is better service elsewhere. read more

This place doesn't deserve even ONE star, there only is one because I didn't have the option of leaving it blank. Trust me if you're thinking of going here, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST! On December 21, 2012 I had my 2005 Volvo s40 towed to Hunter Volvo on Patton Ave in Asheville, check engine light was flashing. By the end of the day, I got a call from the service manager, Will telling me my motor was blown. Told me I had no compression in cylinder 1, and they 'believe' the valve underneath it is fried and that it wasn't "worth it" to repair it and it would just be way too much money at Volvo so if I wanted another opinion to have it towed to Cove Auto Repair in Black Mountain and they apparently have a snake camera that Volvo doesn't have. I thought it was strange that he was telling me to bring my business elsewhere, and it wasn't 'worth it' to do at Hunter, so I had it towed to a local shop I know in Swannanoa (which when AAA called Volvo Will told them I refused service and my car was repairable, so AAA charged me to tow my car). By the end of that day, the mechanic called and said "We did a compression test, and your compression is absolutely fine, your spark plugs were fried like burnt popcorn that was your problem" (Hunter NEVER said ANYTHING about the spark plugs!!!) They also told me there was NO way a compression test had been done on my car in YEARS if not ever!!! He said the bolts were so caked with dirt and gunk that there's no way they would have been removed!! So I call Volvo to file a complaint. Randy Mcfall called me back and wouldn't have much of ANYTHING to do with listening to my complaint. He wouldn't listen to me when I said that my mechanic said there's no way they performed the test they said they did. All he kept saying was "well I will run another one" or "My men aren't in the business of ripping people off." What happened to "the customer's always right?" what happened to CUSTOMER SERVICE????? I am telling you your technician lied to me and your service manager told me to take my business elsewhere and it wasn't worth it to do at your business, and your responses are all backing them up and telling me I'm wrong?! I told him my car only needed spark plugs and he kept telling me "bad spark plugs would never cause that big of an issue." and my response always was "My car is running EXACTLY like the day I drove it off the lot and all I had done was my spark plugs, so how can you tell me I am WRONG?!" I was absolutely appalled at the TERRIBLE customer service, the lies, deceit, and the fact they made it blatantly obvious that they didn't care. I will NEVER bring my vehicle back to Hunter, and I will NEVER buy another Volvo EVER again. read more

Hunter Volvo is hands down the most incompetent service department ive ever experienced. Had a navigation problem from time of delivery of CPO Volvo. Hunter said i need a new map so i bought one, still didnt work, took it back and they told me i needed the same disc again. Problem is, the disc they told me to buy was in the disc drive when i took it in. Its as if they never even looked at it. Turns out, it needed a software update - took 4 visits to figure that out. Another issue the car was delivered with was a very loud popping noise coming from the front with every turn. After 2 visits, they replaced a bushing that resolved the problem for a few weeks. After it came back, i brought the Volvo in for service 9 more times over a year and a half before it was finally fixed. One time they said it was a loose tire iron... Most of the time they could not figure out the problem and I would pull out of their lot with very loud popping. Finally, the car has been taking on water since delivery (did i mention this was a Volvo CPO!). They replaced the windshield, cleaned sunroof tubes, got a water specialist and still taking on water. Its as if nothing was ever done... At this point they told me there is nothing more they can do... Im not talking about a little moisture getting in, this is sitting water on the floor boards. I just picked up my Volvo yesterday, still leaking massive amounts of water, and on the way to taking my son to school he said "Daddy, whats this?". When i looked in the mirror to see what he was inquiring, i saw a large pocket knife in his hand. He said it was in the seat next to his car seat. Luckily my 6 year old knows better.. But gosh! I called Volvo to let them know and they were careless and simply told me to "throw it away"! Needless to say, this place is incompetent as can be. I also complained to Volvo USA about the constant attitude problem coming from service rep. The next visit service guy was awkwardly nice. He even told me he saw the email i sent to Volvo USA and told me hes been very nice to me and i needed to send them another email letting them know. Super awkward... Every time something is fixed they say "this isnt normally covered by CPO, but we will make a goodwill gesture due to all the problems you had with your Volvo". While thats nice and all, their goodwill gesture repairs dont actually fix anything... It is clear Hunter Volvo does not like working with CPO cars as they make no money on them. You are lucky to get the bare minimum, but likely to not get your problem fixed at all. Between the quality issue in my Volvo and the service department at the only local dealer, i would never consider owning another Volvo! These cars are now made in China and here the problems are much worse than before. Watch-out! Im so happy I never have to visit Hunter Volvo again. A year and a half of dealing with their horrible service department and endless visits have been exhausting. While my Volvo drove amazing, there were so many issues with almost everything else. Do yourself a favor and get a Mercedes-Benz instead. Skyland service is top notch - competent and friendly. read more
