My husband has his usual barber somewhere else in Roseville, but he had to get the tires done at nearby auto shop, so he decided to walk in here while waiting for new tires to be done. He looked up the reviews beforehand, and everyone keeps mentioning this old guy, how bad his haircut is. And guess what, when my husband walked in, of course this old guy was the only one who was available. My husband at this point was praying this guy wasn't the same guy people were talking about. Sure enough my husband got the worst haircut he has ever gotten in his life. I don't do hairs at all but it looked like even I could have done a better job than what this guy did. My husband's hair (military cut) was so uneven and jagged. When my husband asked him to fix some parts, he had all the excuses. This will be short. Been going here for years off and on depending on where I was living and what the heck else I was doing. Hunters is awesome. First, he doesn't have anyone in there that can't cut hair. I usually schedule with Hunter but have used everyone else in there in a pinch. If your looking for a Summer cut "Flatty" then Hunter is the guy. Old school barber shop, sports, chatter, talking smack but it's a right of passage for many families in Roseville , Placer County. I usually go to one of the several nearby big-brand chain haircut places, and all I ever got was some square, old-fashioned look. So I walked right in today to Hunter's, sat down, and got the best haircut in 40 years on this earth by a friendly lady that really knew her stuff. The perfect fade and even a straight razor, too! Hunter's Barber Shop is the only shop in town that I will take my boys to. The shop is clean, all of the barbers are friendly and do an excellent job. This is an awesome place to get a haircut, especially if you are old-school and love the traditional old-fashion style barber shops! Hunter and all the male barbers have always done an outstanding job cutting and styling me up. However, the lady barber absolutely sucks she is a pile of hot garbage laying in a landfill on a 110 degree day in August! She jacked up the only 2 haircuts I had with her. My haircut style is extremely basic. I indicated both times what I wished to have done and both times she did the absolute opposite. We went here for the first time and we were glad we did. Our usual shop was closed (seriously who closes a Barber Shop on a Monday?) so we tried this place out. We didn't have to wait that long, considering we were a drop in. We showed the guy photos of what we wanted and he did an amazing job (better than our usual shop). Needless to say, next time we go to a Barber Shop, we know where we are going. These guys were funny and talkative as well. We enjoyed our experience. I've been a customer for 18+ years. Initially my brother found Hunters and recommend it to me. NEVER EVER (not even once) have I had a bad cut. First time cut here for my brother. This is terrible. Don't recommend getting your hair cut by JD. Very inconsistent and rushed. Didn't trim or line up the back of his neck. Doesn't even look like he got a haircut. He never dreamed of having a rat tail at the age of 33! read more

Do you have to pay a deposit for a appointment? Because people where not showing up and instead of just doing a quick cut for a paying customer already waiting they choose to just wait to see if the appointment will ever walk in.Waited two hours for a cut today and never got one. WOW! THESE GUYS CAN CUT HAIR! And when I say they can cut hair, I mean it in the most literal sense. They can take clippers and scissors to your head and cut the hair off. It won't be what you asked for. It won't look good. And if you ask any questions or for any alterations to be made, you will be met with attitude and an even worse cut than you had before. Ask for a little off the top? THEY WILL TAKE HALF OF YOUR LENGTH. Get specific and ask for a half inch taken off the top? THEY WILL TAKE 1.5. Ask for a 4 on the sides? THEY WILL GIVE YOU A SKIN FADE. Ask for it squared in the back? THE GENIUS WILL ROUND IT OUT. Simple people skills and comprehension will not be found here. Show them a picture? Doesn't matter. They will screw up your hair. This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. Very disappointed in this barber shop and the haircut my son was given was not what he asked for and completely way to short from the pictures shown. If they couldn't perform the haircut they should of just said something instead and we could of gone somewhere else or waited for another barber that could perform the haircut instead of Butchering his hair into an awful short a** haircut. He hates it so much doesn't even want to go to school he's so embarrassed. It was not what he asked for or SHOWED the barber. I walked in and there were two other customers getting their haircuts, and I walked out before they were done. My haircut felt rushed and half-assed. I will never go to your shop again. For me, finding a new barber ranks right up there with going to the dentist, getting kicked in the jewels, or watching a romantic comedy. Seriously, I get anxiety trying out a new barber. My haircut should be common enough -- # 3 on top with a low 0 fade. However, I have noticed a ton of people walking around with jacked up fades. After one disastrous attempt in Folsom, I was left looking for another barber shop. My family and I happened to be walking around that super mall in Roseville and noticed a salesman with a clean fade. I asked him who cut his hair, and he told me Joe at Hunter's Barber Shop. I called the next day, confirmed Joe's work hours, and made my way over on a Friday afternoon. Although Joe is a Washington Redskins fan (Boo!), he is super cool guy. He can also fade with the best of them. He takes his time, uses a straight razor to line you up , and even has a "super bald " option if you like that smooth skin feel on your dome. I won't go anywhere else for a cut ( Unless I move again). To me , it is worth the drive out to Roseville for a perfect fade. ***Please note, there are about 5 or so barbers on site, and haircuts are 16.00.*** read more

The haircuts are competent, and the shop is acceptably clean and pleasant. However, this business is completely indifferent to COVID-19 health advisories. No masks, no social distancing, no wiping down chairs and tools after each customer. That is an outright lack of concern for the health of customers, many of whom are senior citizens; it is reckless endangerment. This is a matter of life and death. If you don't mind the chance getting seriously ill or dying, this is the barbershop for you. read more

Walked in. Not busy. Sat down for 5 mins. I was clearly visible to at least 2 barbers. No one said hello or asked if they could help. After feeling ignored I asked who the Barbers there were and one guy said I am. He said did you want a haircut. I said yes but no one had even said hello to me and that I was leaving and putting a bad review on Yelp. He chased me outside the door and asked what the hell is wrong with me. I told him I had come in there and sat down and waited and no one even said hello to me. He said he "nodded to me but he was eating his lunch. All while having a conversation with other people. Excellent hair cut and good prices, was a little taken aback that nobody including any of the barbers wore masks...I'm all for them defying the ridiculous orders for businesses like theirs to be closed, given that I thought they should act more responsible when it comes to the safety of their customers and themselves, I'm in a higher risk group, so I was a little uncomfortable, but after over two months a hair cut was a must. Got my haircut by a woman in the shop today and it is one of the worst haircuts I've ever had. It is uneven, I asked for a beard lineup she didn't do it, I asked for a skin shave and she did it wrong twice, she kept sighing with major attitude and this genuinely was the worst barber experience I've had. Night and day difference. I went there 6 months ago and received a perfect haircut. I was excited when I went there after 6 months and found the same guy. Didn't get a name, but short haired(maybe shaved head) white dude with a baseball straight brined hat on a lot of arm tats but not a collective sleeve. He works the chair straight across from the front door. I gave him the same instructions I gave last time; "medium/medium low skin fade. 1/2 off the top. Don't hipster me." He was talkative last time, but this time didn't feel like conversation. Which is fine, the dude is a professional. Long story short, I got hipstered. Long on top, shaved head along the sides. No fade noted. Such a disappointment. Normally, the barber offers to fix it on the spot if the customer isn't satisfied, but instead he chose to get defensive about our definitions about what a medium/MED-low fade was. So disappointed because the first time I was there guy was so nice and friendly, and I received a perfect haircut. He must be going through hard times. It happens. I h definitely understand. Hopefully he gets his head right and goes back to being an amazing barber. I tipped him 25% anyways...we all have bad days. **The barber I went to to fix the haircut called it a "terribly blended combover." I'm not bald.** read more

Hunter is amazing. My fiancée was a regular of his and recently suffered a traumatic brain injury. Hr insisted in returning to the shop once he could have his hair cut (we dont live in the area).Hunter's skill has helped hide the scars and disfigured skull while he is without a skull. He is so careful and kind, I don't love the drive but I now understand why my other half insisted we make the trip. It makes me sad some 1 star reviews are based on one bad experience while many stated great prior experiences. It's hair! Someone your not familiar with may not fully understand your desired look. FYI If your allergic to dogs this shop is not for you. My husband arrived for his appt. ( first time) when he saw the dogs he let them know that he would have to leave because he is severely allergic to dogs. They should inform customers that dogs are present in the shop. read more

This is a little barbershop that's sort of a hole in the wall spot on a main street. The shop itself isn't too bad despite being a little too small and crowded. Crammed and little space just enough to walk, the upside to this is there are many chairs, and many Barbers to occupy them, so there is little to no wait time. The only problem I had was The Barbers lack of care and communication as I was trying to conversate with him about a couple things here and there. I was met with short answers with little to no empathy behind them. I was helped by a barber named Joe. I don't think I'll come back. The hot shave with an old school shaving blade was nice, and I'm sure the other Barbers are a bit more extroverted and accomodating, especially after my haircut was done upon leaving the shop. I was there for no longer than 10 to 15 minutes. I also was charged $17 for a fade. My barber at Ryders off Cirby is way better, but he was closed today so I decided to give this Barber a shot. A shot I kind of regret, but still left with a clean haircut and a review for whoever reads this. Thank You. read more

I would agree with the last reviewer, finding a barber after a move is a big deal. I wear my hair short and finding someone that knows how to fade is not easy and I have had way too many 'bad' haircuts. As usual, I check Yelp for reviews and this place was at the top of the list with 5 stars. I tried my luck and just left Hunter's. I was taken care of by a real nice guy named Kenny, what a great conversation and an even better haircut. Kenny will see me again!
