My husband has been coming here for years, but lately the hairdressers that are there are just kind of rude and sassy, and not very welcoming or friendly. This last time I went in, and it was 4 to 5 hairdressers and the attitude and the sass was so strong that I just turned around and walked out. There's way too many hairdressers and barbers in this area that offer a good haircut and actually have a good attitude and actually welcome you when you come in without seeming like you're a burden. I mean, she could've rolled her eyes, and it would've matched perfectly with her attitude. They haircuts and styles, are just normal haircuts and styles. We have been coming to vintage for 3+ years, myself and little boys (7yrs and 4yrs old) have loved getting cuts by all the barbers here. So much so where our boys ask for haircuts! The crew here is really fun, receptive to cutting new styles, and always friendly. I've never seen anyone in a bad mood, EVER. My one ask and I think biggest upgrade to the shop would be a TV. If they had football, sports, Christmas movies during holidays it would be so so great! Great razor fades, and the hot towel feels good when they're done. I usually never get my hair styled after a cut, because it never turns out the way I want. However, at Vintage I always get my hair styled after a cut. They know how to cut and style here very well. I also enjoy the music they play. I have not seen any women getting their hair done here. I started coming here in 2017 as I was looking for a more traditional haircut than the normal chains I've gone to my whole life. First experience was fantastic. The straight razor cleanup was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. I became a loyal customer who told everyone to go here. There have been some staffing changes since I started coming here and possibly even ownership changes. It appears now there is another ownership change as the check-in system was moved, store redecorated, and the no longer answer the phone as Vintage Barber Shop but rather, "barber shop". On my last visit I had to re-register in the check-in system as one employee was removed and it deleted all customers she had ever seen. Not any reason to down rate the business, not their fault the program stinks. The stylist* I saw did a mediocre job cutting my hair. I swear I was only in the chair for five minutes. Barely a hot towel and no more signature straight razor cleanup and I was whisked out of the chair. This was the worst experience I've had here and with the recent changes I will not be going back and have advised all my referrals accordingly. *Stylist. I referred to her as a Stylist instead of a Barber on an assumption. In order to display the Red/White striped barber pole outside the business the establishment must have a certified barber employed. Only Barbers can use straight razors as they have additional training for Barbering that Cosmetologists do not get. Since their recent makeover that is MUCH less masculine than it used to be, the lack of straight razor cleanup, and the their observed (albeit assumed) departure from traditional wet shaving I will no longer refer to anyone there as a Barber because I'm assuming none of them that are there now have their Barbering License from the DCA. read more

My son and husbands hair is horrid. My sons is way worse as it looks completely chopped. We've been coming here for years and it use to be really good and slowly declined then today was just a shit show. My husbands beard trim is uneven with some thinned out spots and long hairs on the side. His haircut is uneven and not blended well. My sons hair looks like a 2 year old monkey cut it. I have been growing my sons hair out to do a side part and now I have to basically cut it all down to fix it. There's chunks missing in his hair, his sideburns were super crooked (I was able to fix those myself), the "hard" part doesn't even show, and not blended. I am in utter shock on how horrible the haircuts were. They used product and "styling" to try and hide the mistakes. It was today, Saturday at opening. Three folks in chairs already, but come on, I totally expected to wait. It was not an issue. Got Bree (interview, Hawaiian Island guy) ;-) and she was absolutely amazing. I have been getting lame haircuts for so long I didn't know I could actually get a good haircut with so little hair! She paid attention to detail and really took the time to make sure everything was perfect (what little hair I had). My wife was totally impressed and so it seems, Bree can never quit, or I will have to turn into a creepy roady and follow her everywhere to cut my hair from now on. Thanks a ton Bree!! Ugh. This place was a mess. COVID was treated like a joke. No safety measures in place and the barbers made fun of clients the entire time I was in the chair. I was incredibly uncomfortable the whole time and legitimately thought about just walking out mid-haircut. They have clients sign in with an iPad, which wasn't cleaned once while there. Same with the ATM machine and the seating. No hand sanitizers were present and barbers made jokes about people wearing masks. When they started getting busier, I assumed they would limit the amount of people in the business, as it's a small space. They did not. It became very crowded. I was the only one wearing a mask and the barber told me to take it off instead of just working around it. And yes, I did ask that he just work around it. During my cut, the barbers had commentary about the clients, ranging from making fun of their hair (they're obviously here for a haircut?!) to making fun of their supposed stupidity and making fun of the children that were there getting haircuts. My 5yo loves this place, they always make him feel special. I love that Vintage treats me as an American, free to decide if I want to wear a mask or not here. My husband has been coming here for years to get his haircut and he loves it. Yesterday, we finally decided it was time to get our almost 2-year-old a haircut as well and my husband suggested here. I was skeptical because I was unsure the environment was fit for a toddler. We walked in and immediately my son wanted to run all over the place. One of the ladies working pulled out some toys that he enjoyed for a while. Once it was time for our turn, my son was very shy and nervous about the chair. We had Bree and she was absolutely WONDERFUL. She was so patient. She talked and played with him throughout the process. Drove 30 minutes out of my way to bring my son here for a haircut prior to a school dance. They close at 6pm, walked in at 510pm and was told they were all "getting off early" so they couldn't cut his hair even though the posted hours on the door and the web say they are open until 6pm. They don't take appointments and we planned our evening around the haircut. Spent another 20 minutes googling and driving around and now my son won't have his haircut prior to his school dance. Sure we could have gotten his haircut before today but you could also stay open until your posted closing time. What a complete waste of time.
