I met with Luke, owner of Hunter's Insulation to see if he could help me with some problems in our attic. Insulation badly needed replacement, rodents etc. I noticed in my research that his company had all 5 Star reviews on YELP. Impressive. At our meeting Luke explained what he would do and in what order. All my questions were answered before being ask except when can we get started? I contacted several insulation companies to get some estimates on insulation work. Although his estimate was not the cheapest, he was the most thorough. On the initial call, he asked a bunch of questions on the current state of the house, when it was built, etc. Once he had a clearer understanding, he provided me with the insulation process and options. I initially wanted to go with the spray cellulose insulation. But after further discussion with him, we decided to go with batt insulations instead. For the sake of future potential work to be done up in the attic (additional wiring. electrical work, etc), this was a no brainer for me. I was really happy I spent some time researching before ultimately deciding to go with Hunter. He gave me a ton of advice and options, really worked around a non traditional situation. If you want an honest estimate, call Hinters. I can tell you that I called Luke to see about insulation in our attic for a rental property. Luke let me know that the current condition was stable and the previous work has been done less than 10 years and whoever did the job look to be like they knew what they were doing. It wasn't a dire need for-me to replace immediately and I was able to allocate my resources to more pressing issues with the house. This is a person who genuinely took the time to inspect and gave me a thorough update of what was going on. I would have no clue otherwise. Luke did an excellent job adding in insulation that was missing in my upstairs bedroom and bathroom walls. He was very meticulous about taping off the areas with plastic sheeting. He basically created a mini "clean room" along the walls which he entered through an opening. This helped to really contain the dust as much as possible. He also patched the holes in the drywall that he made to blow in the insulation. His price was very fair and he did the job in a timely manner. Update: After reading my review Hunters insulation covered the tire damage I mentioned. This was unexpected because I didn't even feel like they were responsible. Just mentioned it in my review to give others a heads up about any construction type work. Just another reason you have nothing to worry about when choosing this business. Also included some photos I found of the barrier they put up and before and after insulation pics. I want to start off by saying I am super sensitive to dust and so is my little girl. Cleanliness was my top priority in finding the right company for this job. I got three estimates and Hunters was the most expensive. But I had a good feeling about him since he didn't try to sell me solar or promise that the job would be done in one day. I also liked that he took his time to explain things to me. When Luke came out for the estimate he was able to show me with pictures he took in the attic how I needed to get my HVAC serviced if not replaced. He also tried to get me the cotton batting I wanted but when that wasn't an option he sent me all the info I needed for the type of green insulation that was available. I ended up getting the HVAC inspected and it did need to be replaced. Hunters insulation put my mind at ease with all the doubts and anxiety I had. The dust would be taken care of because they would put up a plastic barrier floor to ceiling from the front door to the attic. The insulation would be made from post consumer products. And he even offered to take the old insulation out first so the new HVAC could be installed before he came back to put in the new insulation, making it a lot easier for the new HVAC to be installed. The three days it took to get the Job done weren't easy because I had to keep a toddler away from fumes and people in our house (who were always masked even when they weren't in their space suits). But the Job got done as cleanly as possible. Except there were some nails in the driveway where the vacuum was sucking up all the old insulation, one nail ended up giving my husbands Tesla a flat tire. The house was dust free and the best part was the guys who installed the new HVAC really appreciated having a clean attic to work in. All around pleasant guy. We just moved into our house in Burbank a couple months ago and I knew there wasn't any insulation and I wasn't too concerned. But I called up Hunter's Insulation in April and they came gave me a quote didn't pressure me into doing anything just suggested trying out how it is in the summer and we can revisit if needed. Boy did we revisit rather quickly. Our two main bedrooms are in the back including our child's and boy do they get hot fast and even with AC it was rather uncomfortable. I felt like I was walking through 3 climate zones in the house and having to shuffle our newborn around the house so he doesn't overheat. The kitchen was cool, the middle of the house nice and temperate, and the back bedrooms it was like Miami. We lasted until August and since I knew it was going to be blown in wall insulation I wanted to get it done before the rainy season came. Luke also honored the price that was quoted in March which was great. The job took 3 days to complete and had no problems I am super happy with the installation and the house is finally all even cool wise and I already noticed lower electric usage. Wall Insulation / Sound dampening. I have a (Yr. 1944) duplex with a shared wall, that had no wall insulation, Luke was able to pack in dense insulation that will be great for reducing heat in the summer and did make a noticeable difference in sound transmission through the shared wall. Not sound proof but very muffled and less intrusive into the other unit. Great guy to work with extremely professional did a great job explaining the job and setting expectations. We got multiple quotes and Luke was noticeably more knowledgeable, thorough, and experienced than many others. He pointed out some potential air gaps and hot spots that no one else mentioned. We ended up having our can lights replaced with some IC rated puck lights so we could maximize the insulating effect. You cannot get better than Luke @ Hunters Insulation. Professional, knowledgeable and very thorough in his assessment. He gave an honest and accurate estimate with very competitive pricing. On project day, he and his co-worker were promptly and fully prepared. They worked efficiently and quickly. No smell, no dust, it wasn't even very loud :) When completed, everything was cleaned up perfectly! (I think my floor was cleaner than before he started LOL) Luke took all the before and after pictures and even filled out the paperwork for the rebates for us. The only thing he didn't do was lick the stamp. Can't get better than that! Now, for the insulation - I'm so glad it was done. We noticed a difference the very next day. The AC is not on nearly as much as it was prior. We'll see how it goes later in summer but, with what we've experienced so far, I expect to see a difference in my electric bill.
