We found this place by accident. I had an appointment that cancelled (VERY last minute) that was down the road from here. I just did a quick Google search to see what was around and they had really good reviews. I took that with a grain of salt because there really isn't much around that area. We pull up and it just looks like a little hometown restaurant. Inside it's just as the name says, a pub. DON'T LET THAT DETER YOU! The staff was AMAZING! The food was delicious!! Do NOT let the exterior of this fine establishment fool you. The service was amazing, and the waitresses were as sweet as can be. Talk about southern hospitality & EXTREMELY cold beer. Where do I even begin. I'll start with the absolutely ridiculous wait time for this place. Me and my friends waited a whole hour just to get our foot in the door. Literally no outdoor bathrooms while you're waiting either so I had to piss in the woods with the snakes. If your not right at the door when you name is called just forgot about getting your table. It's not even worth getting your table in the first place though because guess what, we waited at least another hour and a half to get our food after we ordered. Heaven knows this cheapskate ass place can't get you a luxury appetizer, so we were forced to eat little ass crackers in a package of 2 to hold us over while we were dying of hunger. After damn near 2 hours, not even an exaggeration, we finally were served our food. You know when you go to a steak restaurant and you hear that nice sizzle when that steak finally makes your table, yeah that was no where near present here. I was greeted at my table by a lukewarm at best steak and a pathetic helping of fries. From the moment I started eating to the second I finished my last measly bite I was disappointed and had lost all excitement. I didn't even pay for the dinner but I felt bad for the 40 dollars that just went down the drain for my meal. I could've spent 10 times less and got my food 30 times faster if I had just ate at taco bell. And guess what, the food would actually be hot there. And it would taste just as good if not better. This is a local spot that does not even have a sign out front, just the name on the roof. The crowds line up well before the doors open to avoid waits. I've only been to Hunter's once. The one time I visited Columbus, GA for a work trip last July. Everybody was raving about Hunter's so, not one to pass up a potentially great steak, I tagged along. Let me say, I visited Japan this February, and went to a high-end Teppanyaki steakhouse where we had top-of-the-line Kobe beef - supposedly the best beef on Earth. It was incredible. I thought to myself: "Is this the best steak I've ever had?" It took me a minute, but the answer eventually became clear: "no, the best steak I've ever had was at Hunter's Pub and Steakhouse." This 12 oz filet, for only $41 is literally the best steak I can ever remember having. Perfectly seasoned and grilled and tender. I've never had better. The lobster tail was pretty damn good too. We're back! After a 10 month hiatus we were back camping in the area. I mean, what's a 30 minute drive from West Point for such delicious food??? Since we were a small group of 3 the wait time to be seated was very short. This time we all ordered the Rib-eye - 2 medium and one medium rare... Perfection! The other two had a salad and fries to go with their steaks - I went with sautéed mushrooms and a loaded baked potato. Perfect! Our server, Sarah with an "H", was professional, attentive to our needs and checked on us frequently. Her exuberance and bubbly personality were delightful! Best Steaks. Truly a fabulous hole where the locals line up at the doors for the 5 pm opening. Looks like a shack, but don't let that fool you. Park and go on in, a friendly staff and an amazing casual dinner awaits. Yes, this a steakhouse, but there are some seafood and chicken dishes, plus kid's meals too. Portions are generous with ample parking and folks sitting outside for a table. Bartender yells out a welcome and how many? We lucked out with the last 2 top! Delicious from the petite 8oz filet to the sweet potato fries and the fried green beans! All of it was savory and too much for one person. The seasoning has layers of flavor and the quality of the meat is so tender. Presley, our server, was friendly, efficient and informative. In fact, observing the young staff, they are constantly working with a friendly disposition. Not one had a cellphone out, or were huddled together chit chatting. This is a great team, cleaning tables, greeting guests, and feeding us all. Full bar with a good selection of wines and beers. I've been wanting to go here for years because I heard they have the best steaks around. I was in the area so I stopped by. It's really small and the parking lot isn't sufficient, with numerous cars needing to park along the side of the road. The inside vibe is pretty cool but the music is extremely loud so don't expect to hold a conversation with someone. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the Ribeye, baked potato, side of mushrooms and onions and a fried lobster tail. I do not recommend getting the lobster tail. It was my first time ever having a fried lobster tail so I didn't know what to expect. It basically reminded me of a Gordon's Fisherman fish fillet. The baked potato was ok, kind of dry and hard but lots of butter and sour cream helped. The ribeye came out rare and I ordered medium rare. To be fair, it was so loud she might have misunderstood me and I like rare too so I kept it. The amount of fat on the other hand was ridiculous. I just kept having to cut off big chunks of it. Best restaurant in Columbus and Atlanta only it's in between there Harris county. All the spaghetti you can eat for $11.99 on Tuesdays only. Most of the meals are not cheap however they're worth every penny you pay for it. The cook is awesome and no matter what you order you'll be extremely satisfied. They have lobster and steak and chicken and spaghetti and I've never eaten a bad meal there in 10 years. I go there every week and have been for a long time. read more

From the outside it looks like a small shack, and maybe a tad bit sketchy to me as a young female traveling through alone. But as soon as you open the door, its a great environment. Music and great staff. I quickly discovered that the tiny place gets packed out quick with a line going out the door. Overall great experience. Southern hole in the wall with top tier steaks. We came on Wednesday and ordered the "steaks for 2" special for $45 which comes with two 10oz steaks and 4 sides. We got asparagus, sweet potato fries, green beans, and the mushrooms/onions plus an extra side of mashed potatoes. The steak came out perfectly medium rare, with a crusty sear and seasoned beautifully. Definitely the highlight of the meal. I really enjoyed the green beans but the rest of the sides were just okay. Told them to just keep the steaks and take it off the bill. Waitress didn't charge us. She tried her best but. Whoever is running the grill is sinking that place. We arrived at 5:05 on a Friday and were immediately seated (on Saturdays be there with your entire party by 4:30 or you'll wait awhile). By 5:30, it was packed. We ordered the cheese toast, fried lobster tails, country fried steak, and a ribeye. We had never had the cheese toast, and we both agree we probably wouldn't get it again. It had a different texture, almost like cream cheese under cheddar cheese. However, we've always wanted to try it. The rest of our meal was fabulous. The portions are large enough, we both have enough food for another meal. The building is a little loud because it's small, but it wouldn't deter us from eating there. We were told to get here early because they get busy especially on a weekend. We went on a Friday arrived around 4:25PM and there was another party already waiting. My recommendation is there needs to be some sort of numbering system like they do in the grocery stores because the honor system is thrown out the window. A couple drove up about 5 minutes before they opened and when they opened their doors they literally cut in front of everyone. At least when the restaurant opens ask who was here first. The people knew what they did was wrong and obviously didn't care and I am sure it wasn't their first time. We sat in the room on the side of the restaurant. Please don't nickel and dime people for "premium sides" when most of the sides are frozen and not fresh. The fried lobsters were good. Recommend serving the fried lobsters with lemon. As an appetizer it was $24.95. As an entree it was $28.95 but of course premium sides are more. The steaks did look good and and so did the burger. A few people at the table said their steaks and burgers were over cooked. The side salad was iceberg lettuce on a plate and several people were not thrilled about the grits or the fried okra. We have heard about Hunter's for years and finally decided to give it a try for dinner to celebrate a special occasion. It was extremely crowded when we got there, but we did not wait long. The crowd should say something about the food especially given the location! The service was fantastic and the food was even better! We love locally owned restaurants and always choose local over chain. This is one of those places I wish we would have found years ago. Go have a beer, a steak dinner, and a great time! I found out about this hidden gem (probably not all that hidden) from the local training cadre at a course I was attending. A few of my classmates and I went here on our one weekend off, and it was amazing. It was like a twenty minute drive outside of town, but it ended up being totally worth it. Hunters Pub is right off the freeway exit, and from what I could see, it was the only building in any direction. But the parking lot was full, so when you add the drive, isolated location and parked lot together, you know the place is going to be legit. We all got steaks (it's a steakhouse, after all) and they were all amazing. As we're the sides and apps we got. The wait staff was prompt and friendly. We left fat and happy. After finding this place I'm excited to sign up for more courses in the area, regardless of what they are. Anything that gets me back to Hunters Pub is welcome. read more

On a golf trip and did a Yelp search for a steakhouse. Hunters popped to the top and off we went. I'm ashamed to say that my "up North, city-based" view of what a steakhouse looks like caused me to pause when we pulled into the gravel parking lot, and sat on the dusty metal chairs on the porch waiting for the front door to unlock. I wasn't sure what our experience was going to be. It was awesome. Heather was our waitress and she as pleasant as a Springtime garden, and helped us choose our food. A number of local regulars sauntered in and were just as friendly. The steaks were great and the portions were large. Don't judge a book by its cover... this one is a winner. read more
