    Tuna & Bone Marrow
    Courtney L.

I finally got a chance to dine here! I had been to two events at this location but had not have full dinner service. I give 4/5 as I did think it was amazing but just a few things I noticed. We had the chicken liver moose (AMAZING) but the bread that came with it was too buttery and rich in my opinion. I wish it would have come with non buttery bread. We asked for some non buttered and she said they didn't have that but suggested getting the 3 butter and bread app. We ordered this and were happy we did, the butters are amazing as well as the little loaf of bread. We ordered the beef carpaccio. I wish there wasn't as much cheese. I feel it really overpowered the entire dish. We also had the yellowtail Serrano, the Wagyu beef puffs and the tuna tare tare bone marrow. The yellow tail and beef puffs amazing! The bone marrow and tuna were good however the combo I feel maybe not necessary one sort of took away from the other. And these were served again with the buttery bread. For dessert we had the magic mushroom. This was so neat and delicious! Overall our visit was great. I just feel the things I didn't enjoy as much to be more of my preferences vs not enjoyable!

Came here a few years ago and didn't think much of it but recently visited and it's definitely improved! I remember the Parker hours rolls clear as day. The trio of butters are delicious! The spring snap salad is something I hope stays on the menu - very refreshing. Loved the nduja prawns, the sauce is nice. Now the mashed potatoes have always been good but the new grilled asparagus is a great side they've added to the menu. Our Wagyu cut was perfectly cooked and the service was super attentive. Shout out to John for the great hospitality!

First time visiting. Food was four stars, but service and ambiance was five stars!!! We sat at the bar so we could choose between happy hour items and the regular menu. Amazing service with Javert!!! He was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Made us feel special for sure! For the food, we started with the Parker House Rolls - so soft and moist. They came with three butters - black garlic, togarashi, and miso. My favorite was the miso because it was just more of a sweet, salted butter. I ordered the Lamb Chops medium rare! They were cooked to perfection, and I loved the simple salted, grilled flavor of the lamb. I wasn't a fan of the pickled veggies and yogurt that came with it. My husband had the Steak Frites. The steak was above medium rare and just could have been more tender overall. For dessert, we had to get the magic mushroom. It had the best presentation. This particular mushroom had a peanut butter mousse and cherry compote! It was so rich! Def meant to be shared. I would def recommend this place to a friend for the happy hour menu. I do think $52 for only two lamb chops and a cold side doesn't match up. With that being said, I would return for the Parker House Rolls alone haha. Overall, we had a great experience!

Had an amazing time being here. We were there for a special occasion and they even put our picture on special drinks. The scallops hit the spot and was so fresh. I will say the fish dish was dry and did not hit the spot but the service was excellent and the ambiance is beautiful. Definitely will be back and had an amazing meal overall. Definitely check it out and you won't be disappointed

Dined at Huntress to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The food, service, and ambiance inside this place was phenomenal. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I'll let them do the talking for me. Thanks again to the staff at Huntress for making this night special!

Came here for anniversary dinner and 'twas a good meal! They came to our table with an anniversary card, which was a nice touch. We ordered the oysters, bread, buratta, huntress burger and the wagyu A5 steak. Let's first start with the bread... The waitress was really smooth in asking if we wanted bread. Over here, we thought it was on the house, but it's not lol. With that said, the bread was good and you they give you 3 different butters to go with it. The burrata with tomatoes were delicious. The burger was nothing special but the A5 steak was worth every dollar. The meat just melts in your mouth! Drinks here are also good. Staff here are so friendly too. Great spot for a date night.

Huntress has great food and atmosphere for dinner. They have restarted their happy hours at the bar. Every day. Great appetizers and drinks at good prices. Most food is sharable like Mac & cheese, Parker house rolls, French fries. Lots of good things on there. Bartender was friendly and made great drinks. We had stopped going to the Gaslamp. Huntress was a reason to return.

Thank you so much to the AMAZING staff at Huntress from the most wonderful experience and memories created for our wedding anniversary, from the first the interaction with the hostess to the very end. The above and beyond excellent service we were privileged with by every single staff member there is what made the whole experience at Huntress phenomenal. We are still talking about it a week later how perfectly everything was cooked and the ambiance of everything, recommending the restaurant to everyone and will definitely be coming back. THANK YOU Huntress!!!

Great happy hour deal at the bar! - steak frites - solid option. The steak was prepared to the requested temperature and good portion for the HH price. - katsu style sandwich - I really enjoyed this but the portion was really small. Probably wouldn't order this again. - steak tartare tacos - also delicious

Huntress Called for a reservation and immediately got hit with an automated system saying all representatives were busy and giving wait times like a customer service hotline. For a steakhouse at this level, that really shouldn't be part of the experience. Ordered wine and it came in a plastic wine cup, and some of the sauces tasted a little processed. Overall though, the actual entrées and meat were incredible. Definitely some of the best-tasting dishes and steaks I've had, and I most definitely will come back for the food alone. Our server was honestly the best -- great sense of humor, very human, personable, and made the experience much better. Just please get rid of the automated phone system. It takes away from the high-end experience right from the start.

Visiting from LA and decided to eat here since it was close to my husband & I hotel We were checked in quickly, which is a plus especially for a Friday But the cons outweighed the quick check in: * Our server wasn't very welcoming, my husband (who has background in hospitality business), had questions about the chefs selection and the seafood platter; our server (James) gave short passive answers and seemed annoyed. --he was serving another table with a couple next to us, and he took his time in explaining whereas we didn't get that experience * We were rushed (menus were taken away before we were offered or asked if we were interested in more options) * lastly I went to the bathroom and the gentleman (with blonde hair at the front) left the bathroom abruptly without washing his hands... Disappointing service but food was decent

Happy hour with friends and see they have a new summer menu. We had oysters which were fresh and delicious. The smash burger is just $10 on happy hour and it's a solid burger! The chickpea fries were hit and miss with our group. Consensus was lacking flavor. Don't miss the mushroom dessert. It's unique and delicious

Popped in the lunch Saturday right when they opened during ComiCon and was able to get a nice spot outside. The restaurant was well decorated and clean with high ceilings. Our server(s) were very polite and quick to respond to a request for hot sauce and salt/pepper. I'm not sure if the lunch menu was amended to make it more manageable for the chaos that is ComiCon but we had a French dip sandwich and Mac and cheese which were good. I thought the sandwich was particularly tasty and had a nice, fresh flavor. Reasonably priced for the quality and ComiCon crowd too which was a plus. I would be interested in trying the dinner menu next time I'm in town. .

Does a live DJ play and if so what hours?

    When is the happy hour?

Hi Amy! Our Happy Hour is every Monday-Thursday from 6-7pm and Fridays from 5-6:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Is it loud in the dining area or are you able to have a conversation and hear your friends?

We were there on a Friday night, it was loud. If you were on a date this could work in your favor as you would need to be close to hear.

Is the dinner menu available at the bar?

    Yes

Do I have the option to pay online?

Dinner reservations can made online but payments that is taken care of at the restaurant . Or if you are ordering take out or paying for a private area at the restaurant they do requirement payment in advance .

    Are reservations needed?

It's a good idea to get reservations here even on a weekday. Enjoy!

    Does Huntress still serve brunch?

    Is there a children's menu?

There was nothing listed on the menu.

Are there any other fun spots nearby to go after dinner?

Hi Jessica, In the same building of Huntress we have our rooftop Japanese Peruvian concept, Lumi by Akira Back. They have a DJ, premier firepit tables, and offer after…

    Are kids allowed?

Yes. I've seen well behaved young ones here while grabbing a drink.

Do you welcome kids? Have a two year old but would love to visit

We have 2 kids, 3.5 and 5.5. I wouldn't recommend it. The table we were at was a higher table, it was very loud and didn't feel kid friendly. I think kids are allowed, mine are pretty well behaved in restaurants but this isn't one of call "kid…

Is there valet parking for the restaurant?

    No they don't

    What is the dress code?

Smart casual - cocktail dress. It's San Diego.. there was also a girl with a see-thru shirt and tape x'd over her breasts but I don't recommend that. Other than her it was a very classy establishment.

SERVICE: 9/10 The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They took the time to answer questions and made great recommendations without making us feel rushed. AMBIANCE: 10/10 This is easily the highlight of the experience. The entire space is beautifully designed, and every little detail makes it feel like you've escaped into a hidden tropical bar. It's cozy, intimate, and unlike any other place I've been to in San Diego. Reservations are definitely worth making since the space is on the smaller side and fills up quickly. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that, while the experience and ambiance were amazing, the drinks are definitely on the pricier side. I understand you're paying for the craftsmanship and atmosphere, but it's probably not somewhere I'd visit regularly because of that. It's common for tiki bars to be pricey so it was to be expected. Overall, I'm really glad I finally got to experience False Idol. WOW i was so happy with this speakeasy !! finding the entrance was a bit tricky at first, but we…read morewalked into the bakery with 2 other parties and we all helped each other LOL. so cute that it's in a bakery though - definitely wanna come back to try the bakery goods and drinks! we had a reservation for 2 @ 8:45pm, and we got seated at a table. loved the ambiance, dimly lit but still a good amount of light, the japanese decor - it was all so great and immersive. our server Moe was so kind and explained the concept + menu to us, and she also helped me with choosing a drink after i told her i like sweet flavors :) food we ordered: - korean cucumber salad: smashed cucmbers in a korean chili sauce that was yummy but pretttty salty. i do think though that it paired really nicely with my sweeter drinks bc i love a sweet & salty pairing - alone though, it def could've been a bit much - nagoya karaage: delicious, crispy & tender chicken pieces! the flavor gave orange/citrus-y chicken to us, and we really enjoyed it drinks we ordered: - ao ichigo: this drink was sweet, light, and tart. the strawberry flavor really came through, and i thought i wouldn't feel anything after drinking it but the reposado/vodka/vermouth combo sneaks up on ya haha - sesame old fashioned: my fiancé is a new old fashioned drinker, and he enjoyed this one. he did say it was pretty standard in its flavor and he wishes he could've tasted the sesame more, but that being said it was one of the better old fashioneds that he's had - white lover: i think this drink was my favorite! a perfect ending drink since it was creamy from the calpico. it comes with a little circle scoop of some type of sweet ice cream that pairs PERFECTLY with this drink - you can either lick it as you sip the drink (which i did at the beginning), or just drop it into your drink (which i did at the end). it definitely enhanced the flavor so i really enjoyed this drink overall a great experience, can't wait to come back sometime so try more of their omiyage cocktails! :-)

Bar Kamon is a speakeasy hidden inside of Asa bakery in downtown SD. Fantastic ambiance with a lot…read moreof Japanese-inspired decor and drinks. My party ordered a whiskey flight, the sojiros sprotini, the trash panda, and the ube cocktail. All had very unique flavors. Will be returning to try more drinks on the menu! I highly recommend reservations, especially on Friday evenings and weekends. I tried walking-in on a Friday night and was turned away because of how busy it was. Also - do not try to open the door yourself manually... My party was berated for doing so, oops.
