Great service and good food. The steak was tasty, but on the cold side. The tuna tartar and bone marrow was surprisingly really good the bone marrow gave the tartar a nice silky buttery texture, but the amount of tuna was on the light side.

I finally got a chance to dine here! I had been to two events at this location but had not have full dinner service. I give 4/5 as I did think it was amazing but just a few things I noticed. We had the chicken liver moose (AMAZING) but the bread that came with it was too buttery and rich in my opinion. I wish it would have come with non buttery bread. We asked for some non buttered and she said they didn't have that but suggested getting the 3 butter and bread app. We ordered this and were happy we did, the butters are amazing as well as the little loaf of bread. We ordered the beef carpaccio. I wish there wasn't as much cheese. I feel it really overpowered the entire dish. We also had the yellowtail Serrano, the Wagyu beef puffs and the tuna tare tare bone marrow. The yellow tail and beef puffs amazing! The bone marrow and tuna were good however the combo I feel maybe not necessary one sort of took away from the other. And these were served again with the buttery bread. For dessert we had the magic mushroom. This was so neat and delicious! Overall our visit was great. I just feel the things I didn't enjoy as much to be more of my preferences vs not enjoyable!

    Happy hour late Saturday

Heading upstairs led me to stumble upon their impressive bar area. They have a surprisingly good late-night Saturday happy hour with reasonable prices. It is a solid spot if you are looking to try somewhere new beyond the usual trendy options.

A stellar spot for happy hour and celebrations. I noted in my reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and the staff thoughtfully acknowledged it with a card. The restaurant was not overly busy during weekday happy hour and the happy hour menu was available both at the bar and on the patio. Our server was fantastic with recommendations and checked on us frequently throughout the meal. *By Land & Sea: one of the most unique cocktails I've tried. The truffle garnish added a savory finish that completely transformed the drink. Once mixed, it resembled an elevated spa water with layers of aromatic flavors. I found it complex and fascinating, while my partner thought the flavor combination was surprisingly bold. *Far From The Tree: an excellent twist on an espresso martini. The apple and spice notes were prominent and reminded me of a warm slice of apple pie. *Late Night Lover: reminiscent of a fragrant Cosmopolitan. Fruity, bright, and approachable, making it an easy crowd pleaser. *Fresh Baked Parker House Rolls: although the menu only mentioned togarashi butter, we were also served miso butter and black garlic butter. The rolls were warm, fluffy, and delicious on their own. Of the three spreads, the miso butter was the standout with its balanced savory richness. The togarashi butter felt a bit coarse, while the black garlic butter was more subdued than expected. *Parmesan Truffle Fries: a classic executed well. The fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy within, and thoroughly infused with truffle flavor. *Huntress Oysters: arrived dressed with mignonette, which happened to be my preferred accompaniment. The acidity brightened the oysters nicely, though some may prefer a simpler preparation with lemon or horseradish. *Smashburger: a well executed burger with a thin patty, perfectly melted cheese, and enough aioli to keep every bite juicy and cohesive. *Beef Carpaccio Tostada: the pecorino was the dominant flavor, though there was a subtle sweetness from the filet beneath. The tostada remained impressively crisp despite the generous toppings. A brighter acidic element would have helped tie everything together. *Lumi Yellowtail Serrano: a solid yellowtail carpaccio. Despite the presence of serrano and pickled Fresno peppers, the sweet ginger soy was the most prominent flavor. The fish itself was tender and fresh. *Steak Frites: cooked to a beautiful medium rare and finished tableside with torched herb butter. The steak was thick and tender, though it could have benefited from a bit more seasoning and a larger portion of the port wine demi glace to enhance its richness. *Magic Mushroom: easily the most theatrical dish of the evening. The smoke presentation and glass dome drew attention from nearby tables. The peanut butter "trunk" paired wonderfully with the white chocolate elements, while the crumb base provided texture without overwhelming the dessert with sweetness. We initially came for the food, but the cocktails ended up being the true highlights of the evening. The beverages were creative, ambitious, and remarkably well executed. The food was also enjoyable, though a few dishes left room for refinement. Overall, the combination of excellent service, thoughtful hospitality, and inventive cocktails made this a memorable celebration spot.

First time visiting. Food was four stars, but service and ambiance was five stars!!! We sat at the bar so we could choose between happy hour items and the regular menu. Amazing service with Javert!!! He was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Made us feel special for sure! For the food, we started with the Parker House Rolls - so soft and moist. They came with three butters - black garlic, togarashi, and miso. My favorite was the miso because it was just more of a sweet, salted butter. I ordered the Lamb Chops medium rare! They were cooked to perfection, and I loved the simple salted, grilled flavor of the lamb. I wasn't a fan of the pickled veggies and yogurt that came with it. My husband had the Steak Frites. The steak was above medium rare and just could have been more tender overall. For dessert, we had to get the magic mushroom. It had the best presentation. This particular mushroom had a peanut butter mousse and cherry compote! It was so rich! Def meant to be shared. I would def recommend this place to a friend for the happy hour menu. I do think $52 for only two lamb chops and a cold side doesn't match up. With that being said, I would return for the Parker House Rolls alone haha. Overall, we had a great experience!

Had an amazing time being here. We were there for a special occasion and they even put our picture on special drinks. The scallops hit the spot and was so fresh. I will say the fish dish was dry and did not hit the spot but the service was excellent and the ambiance is beautiful. Definitely will be back and had an amazing meal overall. Definitely check it out and you won't be disappointed

Came here a few years ago and didn't think much of it but recently visited and it's definitely improved! I remember the Parker hours rolls clear as day. The trio of butters are delicious! The spring snap salad is something I hope stays on the menu - very refreshing. Loved the nduja prawns, the sauce is nice. Now the mashed potatoes have always been good but the new grilled asparagus is a great side they've added to the menu. Our Wagyu cut was perfectly cooked and the service was super attentive. Shout out to John for the great hospitality!

Came here for anniversary dinner and 'twas a good meal! They came to our table with an anniversary card, which was a nice touch. We ordered the oysters, bread, buratta, huntress burger and the wagyu A5 steak. Let's first start with the bread... The waitress was really smooth in asking if we wanted bread. Over here, we thought it was on the house, but it's not lol. With that said, the bread was good and you they give you 3 different butters to go with it. The burrata with tomatoes were delicious. The burger was nothing special but the A5 steak was worth every dollar. The meat just melts in your mouth! Drinks here are also good. Staff here are so friendly too. Great spot for a date night.

Huntress Called for a reservation and immediately got hit with an automated system saying all representatives were busy and giving wait times like a customer service hotline. For a steakhouse at this level, that really shouldn't be part of the experience. Ordered wine and it came in a plastic wine cup, and some of the sauces tasted a little processed. Overall though, the actual entrées and meat were incredible. Definitely some of the best-tasting dishes and steaks I've had, and I most definitely will come back for the food alone. Our server was honestly the best -- great sense of humor, very human, personable, and made the experience much better. Just please get rid of the automated phone system. It takes away from the high-end experience right from the start.

Dined at Huntress to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The food, service, and ambiance inside this place was phenomenal. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I'll let them do the talking for me. Thanks again to the staff at Huntress for making this night special!

Huntress has great food and atmosphere for dinner. They have restarted their happy hours at the bar. Every day. Great appetizers and drinks at good prices. Most food is sharable like Mac & cheese, Parker house rolls, French fries. Lots of good things on there. Bartender was friendly and made great drinks. We had stopped going to the Gaslamp. Huntress was a reason to return.

Great happy hour deal at the bar! - steak frites - solid option. The steak was prepared to the requested temperature and good portion for the HH price. - katsu style sandwich - I really enjoyed this but the portion was really small. Probably wouldn't order this again. - steak tartare tacos - also delicious

Visiting from LA and decided to eat here since it was close to my husband & I hotel We were checked in quickly, which is a plus especially for a Friday But the cons outweighed the quick check in: * Our server wasn't very welcoming, my husband (who has background in hospitality business), had questions about the chefs selection and the seafood platter; our server (James) gave short passive answers and seemed annoyed. --he was serving another table with a couple next to us, and he took his time in explaining whereas we didn't get that experience * We were rushed (menus were taken away before we were offered or asked if we were interested in more options) * lastly I went to the bathroom and the gentleman (with blonde hair at the front) left the bathroom abruptly without washing his hands... Disappointing service but food was decent

Does a live DJ play and if so what hours?

    When is the happy hour?

Hi Amy! Our Happy Hour is every Monday-Thursday from 6-7pm and Fridays from 5-6:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Is it loud in the dining area or are you able to have a conversation and hear your friends?

We were there on a Friday night, it was loud. If you were on a date this could work in your favor as you would need to be close to hear.

Is the dinner menu available at the bar?

    Yes

Do I have the option to pay online?

Dinner reservations can made online but payments that is taken care of at the restaurant . Or if you are ordering take out or paying for a private area at the restaurant they do requirement payment in advance .

    Are reservations needed?

It's a good idea to get reservations here even on a weekday. Enjoy!

    Does Huntress still serve brunch?

    Is there a children's menu?

There was nothing listed on the menu.

Are there any other fun spots nearby to go after dinner?

    Are kids allowed?

Yes. I've seen well behaved young ones here while grabbing a drink.

Do you welcome kids? Have a two year old but would love to visit

We have 2 kids, 3.5 and 5.5. I wouldn't recommend it. The table we were at was a higher table, it was very loud and didn't feel kid friendly. I think kids are allowed, mine are pretty well behaved in restaurants but this isn't one of call "kid…

Is there valet parking for the restaurant?

    No they don't

    What is the dress code?

Smart casual - cocktail dress. It's San Diego.. there was also a girl with a see-thru shirt and tape x'd over her breasts but I don't recommend that. Other than her it was a very classy establishment.

The bar features a beautiful central fountain space with the tables organized along the edges of the room. The room is dimly lit for an intimate mood, but it makes it really hard to see things in my opinion. Unfortunately this is where the curtains are drawn and we find it was a sheep masquerading as a wolf all along. Their cocktail menu was extensive. The drinks had clever names and interesting flavors, but none of them really wowed. The whiskey menu was one of their strengths, featuring a good selection of American, Japanese, and Scotch whiskeys. The service was excellent; our server was super helpful and very knowledgeable of the entire menu. Overall, RBW's strength is in their presentation and vibe, but falls a bit flat when it comes to flavor.

Parking is a nightmare good luck finding parking within a mile of the restaurant. Pros: atmosphere, drinks, service Cons: food wasn't great for the price, restaurant was small and crowded, no parking Service: All of our servers were friendly and very accommodating. Gave us some knowledge on the menu and recommended cocktails based on our preference. I had spilled my drink and they were quick to make me another one. Food: I had intended to get the prime ribeye cap steak but they ran out for the night around 8pm. I shared the steak sampler which came with four different cuts of steak and 4 sauces. I ordered medium and it was cooked medium/medium rare which was fine with me, it also had a good sear, almost burnt though. Out of the four steaks, we only liked two based off flavor and tenderness. The other two were more tough and gamey. None of the sauces really stood out but the bordelaise and horseradish were good. For our sides we got fries, roasted broccoli, and the grilled wedge salad. Fries were average. The roasted broccoli had really good flavor, I expected the broccoli to be al dente but it was cooked to mush and drenched in sauce. The grilled wedge salad was decent, there was a slightly bitter taste to it. I know it says grilled wedge but the experience of biting into the salad and it being both hot and cold was not pleasant. Cocktails: I tried the Honey Ryder and New Wave. These were recommended as the more fruity/sweet cocktails. You can definitely taste the alcohol but it's only 2oz so it's not too strong. Ambience: 10/10 I got seated downstairs by the bar. Only thing about downstairs is that it's too dark to take photos unless you use flash. Overall, I agree with the other reviews saying to go just for drinks and appetizers. I would go again just to sit upstairs and get drinks and take pictures. From the spooky, dark, skulls old school ambiance and decor, to the experience of not ordering from a menu, everything about it made it feel unique and curated making it feel like a true individualized experience. As mentioned, there are no menus. We sat at the bar, the bartender makes casual conversation with you regarding the types of drinks you enjoy. He curated something for both my husband and I based on what we shared we enjoyed. The drinks were delicious. The entry was very cool! It felt as if you were entering a hidden spot - which you do. When you enter the restaurant, you let the hostess know you're there for the Noble Experience. She let us know to head to the wall with the kegs (which is actually a door). You enter and there's a small waiting area where you're greeted by another hostess. This place is a 20/10. We can't wait to return on our next visit to SD.

The front of the…read morebuilding is very unassuming, but once you enter, you are transported to a spaceship that has crashed on an alien planet. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made on OpenTable. The main bar area is just inside the entrance, and has a "inside the spaceship" vibe. The décor is great with bulkheads, overhead ducts and grates, geometric panels and lights, devices and cabling, etc. The back of the bar features a cool color changing and bubbling reactor. When I was booking our reservation, I was on the fence between booking the bar or dining room. While the bar area does look very cool, I'm happy I went with the dining room. The vibe in this area is you're half in the crashed spaceship, but also outside at nighttime on a tropical planet. The back wall has similar décor to the bar area, but there are rock cave walls, vegetation, and stars overhead. Shooting stars periodically shoot across the sky. There are subtle sound effects playing in the background that add to the environment. There is also some tiki influence with colorful tiki lights being replaced by illuminated aliens egg pods. There is also music playing in the background that they custom curated and is kind of a mix of sci-fi and tiki that totally goes with the environment. I started out with the Self-Destruct Sequence (black pot still Jamaican rum, spiced West Indies rum, aged Caribbean rum, grapefruit, lime, cinnamon, cardamom, Angostura bitters, absinthe, $17). This cocktail was excellent, and is probably one of my new favorites. It was perfectly balanced and complex. Every single flavor was there if you looked for it. She started out with the Away Mission (aged Caribbean rum, gold pot still Jamaican rum, crème de banana, kumquat, papaya, pineapple, lime, opal basil, mint, $16). This was another good balanced cocktail, but with a sweeter flavor profile. I was on the fence for my second drink, and ended up going with the Mindkiller (navy strength West Indies rum, white overproof Jamaican rum, Amaro Meletti, coconut cream, pineapple, tangerine, orange, lime, Tang cordial, $19). I asked our server before ordering it and she confirmed it was definitely a sweeter drink. After seeing this drink on many of the other tables, I had to try it. It is definitely sweet and boozy. The pineapple, coconut, and citrus definitely stand out and the Tang cordial on top kicks the orange into overdrive. I probably wouldn't order it again, but don't regret trying it. Plus, I got that cool swizzle stick to add to my collection. For her second, she had the Revival Mission mocktail (papaya, kumquat, mint, basil, pineapple, lime, soda, $13). We goofed and didn't realize this was the mocktail version of the Away Mission. It had a similar flavor profile but was sweeter. In hindsight, we should have paid closer attention and ordered one of the other mocktails. Be sure to check out the restrooms. They are lit with all red pattern on the walls with mirror on the ceiling, and a mission control type sound track playing in the background. The hallway by the bathrooms is also fully themed, with décor and bulkhead doors. We were initially greeted and served by Anthony, and another server who's name I didn't catch took over for him halfway through. Service was very friendly, and helpful as we asked several questions about the menu. All of our drinks came out in a timely manner, and we were not rushed to leave. We managed to catch the little show that occurs when certain drinks are ordered. The lights dim, special alarm sounds play, and smoke comes out of the spaceships overhead ducts. In addition to picking up some cool swizzle sticks, I also bought their purple cosmic skull mug and a pair of cocktail glasses as souvenirs from our visit. We will definitely return the next time we are down in San Diego.

But they will remake you a new drink if you let them know. Surprisingly the food was outstanding. The plates are large! We had Chicken Karaage which was cooked perfectly and the sticky sauce was delicious. The Nagoya Karaage Nagoya Style Fried Chicken, Sesame Seeds, White Pepper, Cabbage. The glaze was sweet and delicious! OG Haccho Chicken Sliders were more like full size sandwiches - Miso Glazed Crispy Chicken, Sumono Pickles, Sesame Coleslaw, w Yuzu Togarashi Mayo, on a soft Brioche Bun. The Ronin Fries were so good. All the flavors went well together. Shogoyaki Pork Belly, Mozzarella Cheese, Bang Bang Sauce, Green Onion, and Furikake Seasoning. The Umi No Maboroshi Oysters were a disappointment. Only 2 oysters at this price point is pricey! It was weird- the Edible Tuile Shell, Caviar, Yuzu Caviar, Sancho Oil, Wakame, Micro Greens on top were just too much. The flavors did not show while eating. Too many flavors made the oyster unnoticeable! Next the Drinks!! The White Lover!!! Hands down the best drink we tried. All three of us agreed!!! Its topped w a Sherbet- ish frozen Yuzu ball. Eat it or add it to your drink to change the flavor a bit. Either way the best drink we had. The Tokyo Banana was next best!!! The Yama Matcha was good but lacked matcha flavor. Was a good drink but to me was not a matcha drink. The Sesame Old Fashioned had a slight sesame flavor. However I'd like more sesame myself. But a nice twist on an iconic drink. Overall our experience was 5 stars. Our server was great and she is the one who recommended White Lover. Sorry cant remember her name. But had sandy blonde hair and was on the taller side. She actually jumped behind the bar to make a custom drink for all of us! The shooters were outstanding!! Highly recommend this speakeasy for the Asian inspired drink and food!!

This one is long overdue--not that they need my review, because by now everyone already knows how amazing this place is. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great music, an energetic vibe, outstanding service, and some of the most creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol. These drinks may taste dangerously easy to sip, but they pack a punch! I don't even remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but honestly, that doesn't matter because the menu changes so often. And that's one of the things I love most about Music Bar. Every visit brings something new, fresh, and exciting to try. Both of my drinks were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I honestly don't know how the bartenders come up with these combinations, but kudos to the team for constantly pushing their creativity while still making every cocktail incredibly well balanced. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Music Bar never disappoints. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new creations they come up with next. Cheers to one of my favorite cocktail spots in San Diego!
