I went down to Sally's for their signature Bloody Mary with crab legs and Seafood tower and learned Crab legs are no longer on the menu. They do not serve crab legs anymore. So I ordered the Seafood sampler which was the octopus with tuna and shrimp cocktail on ice. and a berry soda water mocktail. The fur baby ordered a water bowl and chicken with veggies. The waterfront is a boatyard, not much water to see but looking at the boats was nice. My service was not the best service. I give it a 4/5. Looking for a place to dine along the waterfront, Sally's was a great place to do so. We chose to sit outside and enjoyed the yachts and people watching. There's just something about the waterfront that is relaxing. The waitress gave us plenty of time to look over the menu. The food is great, meal prices vary but are in the moderate to high range. We started with the signature cheese and garlic focaccia bread, which was delicious and we both got fish and chips as our mains with no complaints there. Great food! Excellent view! You can't beat eating by the waterfront. I like to sit in the patio which is closer to the water. Keep in mind though that nighttime temperatures usually drop in san Diego especially by the water so bring a jacket. They do have heater around but i still find it chilly. Came here during a conference with my colleagues and sat outside on the patio. The weather was perfect and the service was helpful without being overbearing. We had a variety of dishes between us and all and there were no complaints. The salad I ordered was well perfectly with perfectly seared scallops, tender shrimp, and a butter lettuce with plenty of toppings. It was plenty to enjoy as a full meal. The seafood sampler was also a hit and was well fresh and prepared with a nice presentation. We tried several nearby restaurants during the conference and this was probably our top pick. This is an upscale seafood restaurant in the most quintessential downtown San Diego location. For food the highlight was the Fish and Chips which came at the recommendation of our waiter. While they are pricey at $35 I knew I had to try them when I saw they were made from Sea-bass as opposed to the usual cod. They were absolutely delicious, with juicy tender fish and a crispy exterior. Our fries had room for improvement, we got the ends of the fries which were a bit over crunchy and a little disappointing for a restaurant at this price point. The other highlight was the octopus which was sublime: fresh, just chewy enough, and bursting with flavor. The lobster roll was solid and the crab cakes were ok. We came to Seaport Village to check out all the shops and restaurants. Once we got hungry we checked out Yelp for guidance. Sally's won the vote!! As we entered, we were greeted with a smile. We were quickly seated inside. The tables with the view of the water were taken. We ended up ordering the crab cakes, the grass fed burger with bacon, and a side salad. All were really good. We've enjoyed other menu items before. The Chilean Sea Bass, the Ribeye, and the bread has been delicious as well. Overall, it was a success! All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had dinner at Sally's while visiting the area. The food came out pretty fast, which was nice. Overall the food was good, but a bit on the salty side. The clam chowder was quite salty, and I also tried the kids' burger that I ordered for my daughter and it was a little salty as well. One thing we really enjoyed was the signature bread and butter. I was on jury duty and visiting place downtown for lunch.  Sally's is near a trolley stop so I dropped by. I ordered the fish and chips.  Batter was thin and crunchy.  The mix of salt and pepper perfectly accentuated the mild chilean sea bass.  Loved the fresh, tender, moist, and flaky sea bass.  Fries were big and full of fried potato flavor.  This is one of my favorite places to get fish and chips. Complimentary soda water was delicious.  Bubbly with a clean flavor that went down smooth.  Some places have soda water that have a bit of a bitter flavor or aftertaste but not here.  This is one of the best. We were happy to pay a few hundred dollars per person to reserve a table because the location is fantastic for watching the fireworks. We understood that a large part of the price was for the venue and the view, but we still expected the food to be at least decent. Unfortunately, the buffet was one of the most limited I've experienced. The protein selection was solid, and the raw bar was good. However, for anyone who wanted something beyond protein, the options were extremely sparse. The only carbohydrates available were cold bread and potatoes. They could have easily added a simple hot pasta dish. The salad station was also very basic--just a few bowls of lettuce with small toppings like nuts. There wasn't even any fruit available for dessert. I realize this may sound like a first-world problem, but when you're paying a premium for an event like this, you expect the food to match the price. Instead, it felt like one of the smallest buffets I've seen. On a positive note, our server was excellent. Everything was fantastic, from the excellent food to the beautiful outdoor seating atmosphere, which we deeply miss now that we are back home in Tokyo. But the absolute highlight of our stay, and the reason I wanted to write this review, was Tony. As an amateur cook, I was blown away watching him skillfully prepare four perfect omelets at the same time every morning. Tony is incredibly hardworking, talented, and kind. Restaurant is actually part of the Hyatt, seafood based. 4 entrees and 2 glasses of wine ran about $200 so keep that in mind. Portions are pretty good as well left full. Probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. The food itself wasn't the main issue--it was the service and overall attitude. The staff came off like they were doing us a favor just by letting us eat there. Super unwelcoming vibes, almost like they didn't need or want our business. We knew the prices would be high (its touristy and they dont post the prices of their menu online - red flag there) but were not expecting a 6% surcharge on the bill. We do not appreciate this surprise presented to us in person on the menu. If we knew this we would not have come as we feel this is a bad practice (we appreciate a business owner building their fees thoughtfully into their line item pricing). This is a huge turnoff. We had a nice dinner at Sally's. My husband picked this restaurant solely for the doggy menu and the view of the marina. Our puppy girl just turned 10 years old, so we wined and dined her! I saw a lot of mixed reviews, and was a little skeptical about what to expect. We dined on the patio, and really enjoyed ambiance. For starters, if you park in the lot on the left upon entering the marina, Sally's will not validate that parking. However, they validate parking if you park at The Grand Hyatt. The food is a bit pricey here, so expect a hefty bill if you plan on having a few cocktails. The branzino & swordfish were cooked well, and the sides were seasoned to our liking. Sally's is a great little place in Seaport Village if you're staying in the Hyatt. The prices are a little more than some of the other close by restaurants, but the food is always solid. Recent renovations also make the restaurant more open air and so it feels like San Diego, where you're sitting outside all the time enjoying the consistent weather. I went twice on this trip and the first time got the fish and chips, which was more heavily battered than I remembered it but very good. The second time we went, we got octopus appetizer and stuffed mushrooms. Because I've had a late lunch I got the salt roasted carrots as my entrée and it was a hefty portion even for a side. I also tasted brussels sprouts which were delicious. The highlight of Sally's is the bar. The staff is so accommodating will make any drink you can think of and are always friendly. We were exploring San Diego, on the trolley tours and came to this area to grab a bite because we were all hungry. As it was mother's day, Sally's had a mother's day menu which was nice! We decided to order just some light bites because we were planning to grab other foods to eat throughout the Trolley Tour. The guys ordered a beer flight, and I got a mimosa. Foodwise- My fiance and I ordered the swordfish, my sister and her husband ordered the steak and eggs, and my parents ordered the burger with fries and we got the oysters for the table to share. Oh, Sally's, how I love you! My daughter and I have been regulars here for years when we would come to the San Diego Comic-Con. The food is always amazing and they do a good job of theming for SDCC. I miss our old server of many years, Drew, but Jenn was fantastic! My Walnut Old Fashioned was the bomb. The Lost at Sea cocktail my daughter had this year was also delicious. What an awesome pup friendly lunch we had here! I was able to make a patio reservation ahead of time, indicating we were traveling with dogs. They have a lovely open patio/restaurant table set up right on the harbor. We were seated and given both dog and people menus (extra points for the pups having their own menu!) Service was EXCELLENT , plus they immediately brought water for the dogs. We had the fish and chips, Baja tacos and the dogs split the "howlin' good chicken" . The place is half empty and they tell me it is a 10 minute wait for a table. The bar seating is empty, tables are empty, and the lady wants to give me a peeper to let me know when a table will be ready. We dined here for lunch right after church to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary. Sally's has one of the best views of the Embarcadero Marina and the San Diego weather couldn't be more beautiful. IMPT: If you park at the Hyatt hotel's self-parking, Sally's will validate your parking ticket. We were one of the first patrons to check in after they opened and were sat at what we believe is their nicest table (on the corner inside the restaurant but in their covered patio right next to the boardwalk). We were served by Frank who was excellent, and provided the BEST service to us during our entire lunch. We started with an order of their house bread and stuffed mushrooms to eat, combined with a revolver cocktail & Heineken zero beer to drink. For our lunch, my wife & I shared their delicious fish & chips which we've had before. It's one of the most tastiest fish & chips we've ordered. To wrap up, our server Frank surprised us with a "Happy Anniversary" flourless chocolate cake which was very tasty. As great as our food was (and I hope I clearly conveyed how delicious all our food tasted), our table location and Frank's service surpassed the food. So much so, that we want to return and bring friends of ours to try their dinner menu. We're not huge fans of corporate, franchise, or hotel collaboration restaurants, but we honestly think Sally's is one of San Diego's best kept secrets that fly under the radar but are actually very delicious establishments which have excellent servers, and are lucky to have a great view of our city's best waterfront views. read more

We opted for the octopus appetizer. This was a generous portion and cooked to perfection. It was tender and not chewy at all. For my main, I settled on the swordfish. My cousin and I were attending a Sunday night concert at the Rady Shell, and I was looking for a place where we could have an early dinner outside before walking over to the show. I made a reservation at Sally's for 4:30, as we wanted to take our time and get to the show early. It happened to be Mother's Day. The restaurant didn't look all too crowded, and we were seated right away. Our server was super friendly. Once she took our drink orders, she let us know that they were rolling from the lunch to the dinner menu so if we put in orders quickly, we could order from either menu. She did let us know that that our orders may come out at different times. Anyway, from that point on, service was downhill. Our drinks took forever to come out. I may have ordered another drink, but I didn't want to waste anymore time, so figured I would just get drinks at the show instead. I ordered a classic mojito. It wasn't bad, but a bit on the watery side. The ceviche was good, but very hard to eat given the consistency of the ceviche and the wafer cracker that it was served with it that we broke and used to scoop it up (see photo). For my entree, I chose the ahi poke bowl. It was good and fresh, but I've had better poke at some of the fast casual places around town. My cousin ordered the lobster Mac and house rolls, but they were out of rolls, so she ordered the truffle fries. I was a bit shocked that they were out of rolls by 5PM. Anyway, we were done eating everything else and ready to go by the time the fries came out. When they did, they were not really done, almost as if the oil in the fryer wasn't hot enough. The server was really sweet and realized their mishaps. The fries and the bottled water were taken off of our bill, which was nice. She did suggest that we give them another try on a night that isn't a holiday and isn't a show night. I appreciate her efforts, but also know that this restaurant gets a ton of business from being near the show venue, and the only reason we were there was because it was a show night.
