I needed duplicate keys made as the only set I obtained from the dealership I originally bought my car from provided me with just the one FOB and the buttons were starting to break. I called to get a price and paid for one key to be duplicated as it was the only one in stock. Upon my arrival I was told there would be an added $160 charge because I only had one key (which I stated on the phone), and because of the year of my car. This was never disclosed to me prior to paying in advance to pick up the key. Imagine if I had to bring two keys to avoid this charge, that was not expressed either. As they did not even attempt to make it right, I just requested a refund. As I previously have bought a vehicle from here and did not have a great experience, I thought I'd give them another chance since the pricing was so reasonable for my keys to be remade. DO NOT take your vehicle to this facility for a State Inspection. They knit pick every little thing and purposely fail your vehicle to gain business. I have a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali with 77k on the odometer. This truck was purchased from Hurd in 2021 (lease turn in). The truck is in better condition than half of the used vehicles on their sales lot. I had a 10am appointment, waited approximately 3 hours in the waiting room. I then received a text message video of my vehicle from the service advisor stating that he wanted to go over the issues with my vehicle (here we go lol). He stated that my front brakes were below 2mm and needed to be replaced and my front struts were leaking fluid (common problem with the MagneRide shocks). He further pointed out and recommended that both transfer fluids should be changed and I had a small oil leak on the oil cooling lines. 15 minutes after the video, the service advisor comes into the waiting area, with an invoice estimate. They wanted $4,405 for the repairs in order to Pass my vehicle. As I chuckled and declined their overly expensive parts and service. The advisor stated she would need to fail my vehicle until I got the repairs done. I am very mechanically inclined and I perform all service and repairs on my vehicles, I know a bullshitter when I see one. I went home, jacked up my vehicle, removed the front tires and inspected the front brakes. The front outer side were approximately 8mm and the inner side were approximately 3-4mm, the low brake pad sensors were not touching the rotor (not enough to fail the vehicle). I purchased ACDelco pads online for $73 and installed them in 15 minutes. Hurd quoted me $650 for new front brakes and rotors (not needed). The front struts were leaking a little fluid as the OEM MagneRide shocks are defective from GM and do leak overtime, something GM should have recalled if it was a big safety issue, enough to fail my vehicle for a "Safety Inspection" lol I did some research and found OEM replacement strut assemblies that specialize in OEM parts that fail for 1/2 of the costs of OEM. Hurd quoted $2,489 (before tax) which included 2 front struts assemblies and $540 in labor. It cost me $1150 for the reputable aftermarket parts. It took me approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete the job. They wanted $540 for labor (over priced). In my opinion, they used the state inspection as a sale pitch to gain unnecessary repairs and maintenance on my vehicle, I think of all the non-mechanical inclined individuals who get taken advantage of at these dealerships that are pressured to pay these overpriced and overcharged labor prices by putting them in a catch 22, "Vehicle needs these repairs or were failing it" Please note, if a service station or dealership fails your vehicle during a RI state inspection due to needing repairs (allegedly) you have the legal right to take your vehicle to another repair facility or do the repairs yourself as you have 30 days to complete the repairs. Once repaired, you have to take it back to the original shop (that failed your vehicle) to get reinspected at no additional costs. Don't feel pressured or obligated by big dealerships! I brought my truck in on July 1st for a rear brake replacement and to have the check engine light diagnosed. While they were quick to accept the work, over two weeks later, not even a basic diagnostic has been run. Every phone call I've made to follow up has resulted in the same vague response: "I don't know when we'll get to it," or my personal favorite, "I want this truck done as bad as you," which seems to be their go-to line. Despite their delays, I've received no proactive updates--only the information I'm able to get by calling repeatedly. When I ask about alternative transportation or a rental while I wait, I'm told I might qualify for one if the work is warranty-related--but they can't determine that because they haven't even looked at the truck. None of these complications or limitations were disclosed when I dropped the truck off. To make matters worse, last week I received a sales call from Hurd--they didn't even realize my vehicle was in their shop--and were encouraging me to bring it in for service. The irony was beyond frustrating. This is not the first time I've had issues here. I've experienced multiple delays with repeat emissions-related warranty work, poor communication, and exaggerated pricing--such as being quoted $4,500 for a radiator repair that another shop (Midas) completed within two days for $1,250. After receiving yet another empty promise of an update (which never came), I've decided to pick up my vehicle and take my business to Tasca Buick GMC, who assured me they'd have an answer--whether routine or warranty--in just a few days. In short, if you value time, communication, or even basic customer service, I strongly recommend avoiding Hurd Auto Mall's service department. I saw a SUV (2023 Yukon DENALI ultimate- brown color) on Cargurus, I loved it. So I told my husband let's go check it out on a Sunday we drove 90 miles to just see it on the weekend. Melissa called me and said you can come and test drive the SUV is available, so we agree to see it during business hours. I apply for pre-approval I love it so. much because its unique color. Melissa called me at 1pm business day, to make sure I was making it on time my appointment was at 4pm. I went so happy and excited that I was going to test drive the Denali, I met Marcin that guy was straight forward he told us that the Denali we love and Melissa told us it was AVAILABLE, has been SOLD. I spoke to Melissa at 1pm and was sold before 4pm? That didn't made any sense. Yukon was sitting there for a month and it disappear from the lot. I WAS ANNOYED! so we left. Couple of weeks later, Melissa calls me again she is like "Hey, listen we found another Denali 2023 Yukon Ultimate same color, same everything except miles are lower, are you interested? The only problem is it's going to be here in 10 days." I said you know I will wait for it to arrive. I want to see it, and if I love it. I will be interested in the vehicle. Melissa was updating me of estimate time of arrival, the vehicle gets to the dealer and needs to be service. I was okay at my own risk I want to see it and I understand that I won't be able to drive it but I want to see it, just because I didn't believe it was the same color as the first one. So I schedule an appointment to see it on Friday, I met with that guy "Marci"before he meeting with me. He text me saying all this BS, questioning me, like come, then dont come, then come. I hate that guy with guts, I know he is the reason I didn't get the first and now the second vehicle. He said to me on that Friday that someone else was very interested in that SUV. Service was going to work on the SUV on Saturday he text me saying that it was not going to be ready to test drive until Monday. I text him back "I hope it doesn't get sold in the weekend" he text me back no! is in service" well, well, well!! Monday gets here and I didn't hear nothing from the dealer. Here's my review of Hurd Auto Mall. I purchased my 2023 Colorado from Paul Masse in East Providence but figured Hurd is closer and I'd give them the business. Two oil changes later and I needed my trucks tow module looked at because it keeps saying to check the wiring as I'm towing. It's a known issue under Bulletin No. 23-NA-149. So like my oil changes I make an appointment through the app for a Thursday which works for my schedule. Next day the service department calls to say Thursday and Fridays are for oil changes only. Really? They offer me a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday appointment. Fine I rearrange my schedule to drop it off Tuesday at 7:30. At 3:30 not hearing anything I call and my advisor tells me the mechanic hasn't looked at it yet and do I want to leave it overnight? No I don't want to leave it overnight. Unacceptable. First I need the truck to get around. Second if after 8 hours they couldn't look at it what makes me think leaving it another day it will be looked at. Plus the part isn't likely available. Needless to say I'm pissed. I won't be back to this dealership or service center, neither will my Chevy driving daughter or anyone else I tell this to. Horrible service at Hurd Auto Mall. Will not work willingly with customers. Good luck getting in contact with the service manager if there's a problem; he delegates his answers to the service techs. Obviously poorly run environment. Had to call every day while my vehicle was being serviced as they failed to provide me with an update. After an entire week, I was finally told that my vehicle sat for the entire week without even a diagnostic test. Could not provide loaner or rental car for the entire week, so if you're service is going to take a while (and it will) you will not have a vehicle option no matter what package you have. Work being done should have been covered under warranty, end up getting charged. Dealership apologized for their error; when trying to get a refund due to said error all communication stopped outside of a poor offer that did not come close to the total amount paid. Extremely disappointed in Hurd. I purchased a 2021 Sierra 2500HD Denali Ultimate and have had issues with it for the last 3 years. First it was clunking in the rear end which was caused by the leaf springs, this took almost a year to resolve because they could only replace one at a time. Now, for the last 2 years I have been dealing with front end squeaking, and it's been in and out of the shop for the last 2 years for this. After several times in the shop, the "Engineers determined it was the spoiler, waited 7 months for it to come in and it didn't fix the problem. This last time it was in the shop for 7 weeks and now I am being told there is nothing they can do, you have to live with it, good luck, see ya. This is totally unacceptable!! I was hoping that when I picked it up the Service Manager, Sales Manager or even the General Manager would care enough and try to make good on it by offering some sort of trade in, buy back or even a deal on another vehicle, but no. I was seriously interested in purchasing a used truck and went through several rounds of negotiations with Thomas, including agreeing on my trade-in truck value and the price of the vehicle. Everything was clear, we even agreed on the price via text and paperwork, and I was told to come in and finalize the deal. But when I arrived at the dealership, it was a whole different story. Suddenly, I was told that I was supposed to sell my truck to CarMax--something that was never mentioned in any of our conversations. As if that wasn't frustrating enough, they claimed the price of the truck had been lowered and that my trade-in value would be reduced because of a "miscommunication" on the manager's part. When I asked about the original deal we had agreed upon, they brushed it off, claiming I was wrong. Thomas, the salesperson, completely acted like the deal in the text and the paperwork I had was non-existent. It's clear that this dealership is willing to change the terms at the last minute to suit their own needs. They will promise you one thing, then try to pull a fast one when you're on the lot. Got oil changed and tires rotated there. They did that good. Then they told my my brakes are critically low and I shouldn't drive anymore. Quoted me 600 to replace rear brakes because they were at 15 percent. Told them I'd wait and went to my dealership back home (I was traveling) and said I need brakes because they are low and need replacing. Advisor comes after the trucks on the lift and says why are you here. Your brakes have at least 50% left and don't need changing at all. Tire was off and truck on the lift and he showed me. It was a little over half still compared to a new brake pad. So be wary of what this place tells you needs done and get a second opinion. read more

April 2024- I brought my 2018 GMC Sierra in for transmission issues, which we all know GMC is famous for. They had the truck for TWO days without ever looking at it, stated they didn't have a transmission tech to look at it, even though I had an appointment. Picked up the truck and brought it over to Paul Masse in South Kingstown, they diagnosed it (bad transmission) and sold me on a new GMC. Hurd lost out on a sale due to being incompetent and having terrible service. July 2024- I brought my new GMC to Hurd Auto Mall to check the seven pin connector, I could get an appointment at Hurd quicker than any other GMC dealer. Dropped off the truck for a 9am appointment today, I called them at 3pm for status and they said they don't have time to look at it. This is obviously a common practice of theirs. Talked to the service manager and he said they've been busy... that's it. Hey Hurd, maybe consider not booking so many appointments? Customer service and tech that took the truck in was rude to me, wouldn't offer a loaner , told me they wouldn't even LOOK at the truck till Thursday . Then call me today (Tuesday) tell me they don't know how long until the parts get in it would probably be a month but they didn't even know . While also trying to charge $45 for 5 gallons of def fluid and an oil change my truck just had done not even a month ago. I had a bad experience where I brought my Volt in due to a charging issue. It cost me several hundred dollars, and they said it was investigated but it was not. I was told that the car was fully charged and then monitored for whether it was still pulling energy (which is the problem). When I picked up the car and drove a couple of miles, I realized the car was only charged to 37 miles, which is not close to fully charged for this car. UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES HURD TRIED TO SCAM ME $13,000 PLUS. I brought my Gmc Sierra with 43k miles on it to the Hurd service center for a tuneup and to have bad gas removed from the tank. Days went by and I received a phone call from Caitlyn in the service department telling me my truck needed an engine replacement which would cost $13,000 dollars plus tax, plus oil cooler lines because they were leaking and rear brakes and "whatever else they might run into along the way". When I asked the reason I needed an engine replacement on a motor that has 43 thousand miles on it, I was told because it misfired and my plugs were oil fouled. When asked if they performed any diagnostic testing on my engine they had not done anything. No compression test on the cylinders, no scope, no diagnostics what so ever. I removed my vehicle from their possession the very next morning when they opened and brought it to an independent repair shop who performed a tuneup and removed the bad gas out of the tank for a total of $1,900 dollars. Truck now runs like a top. Hurd tried to scam me over $13 thousand dollars for an engine that did not need to be replaced. There was gas on my plugs, not oil and as for the oil cooler lines, they were not leaking and the rear brakes did not need replacement. I can't believe this business is still allowed to operate with its shady completely unethical practices. If they did this to me they are doing this to everyone. Avoid Hurd Auto Mall service center at all costs. I have never written a review on anything before but the public needs to know this is happening. Hurd could have financially ruined a person doing this - a single parent, and elderly person, etc. If you have had work done here I suggest you question it and if you are thinking about having service done here AVOID them and protect yourself and your pocket from a scam. HURD AUTO MALL service is terrible! I made an appointment for a recall on my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. I informed the person who scheduled the appointment that I would drop the truck off in the AM and would need it completed by 2:30 PM; it was a 'two hour' computer update. When I dropped the truck off this AM, I reiterated the time. I received a phone call at 1:20 informing me that they haven't even started the service/update. The service writer kept saying that they had a lot of recalls (buyer beware of GMC vehicles) and they are overwhelmed. I asked why they are accepting appointments if they can't handle the workload? Just a blank stare. I did request to speak to the GM, but the receptionist intervened and said that I should speak to the service manager. Even though she spoke to the GM, he wouldn't come out to speak with me. This is the second issue in the last few months with this location. Previously, I had scheduled an oil change/tire rotation, and even though I received emails and text messages from both GM and Hurd confirming the appointment, when I arrived they stated that they had no record of it. I purchased two vehicles from hurd auto mall. and the service department has always been the very best. the problem I am having is customer service. it is the worst. I have left messages for the last three working days and no one has returned my calls one day i called every hour for four hours hoping to speak with a person in financing. i was not able to speak with anyone and no one returned the call. i am requesting a copy of the promissory note they have on file. i lost this paperwork due to a fire last year and i want to replace the folder with that information about the vehicle i purchased. i was financed thru GM financial however they state this important information remains with the dealership. why am I being treated with such disrespect over such a simple mater. i am retiring June first and want to buy a passenger van to transport my grandkids and thier electric toys. being ignored and treated so badly has caused me to consider another dealership. i am so disappointed with this unprofessional behavior. it is unacceptable. john brown read more

I purchased a new Corvette from them in November 2023. The salesman was nice but had not been there long and is no longer there which should say a lot. After being there 7 hours that day to get the deal done, the salesman made it happen after endless visits with managers. I received a temporary plate that was valid for 30 days. After a mistake with the paperwork and taxes by them, I took care of it and waited for my plates. My temporary expired and I still have no license plates. You call and get everyones voicemail and when someone finally answered, they say I may get my plates next week. The car is currently unable to be driven due to no registration. When Hurd owned it this was a good dealership, now that Balise owns it, it has gone downhill. Once I finally get my plates I will never return. Total disarray. I would not trust them to perform service on the car if this is how they conduct business. read more

Special ordered a new canton 5 months ago put down a deposit only to wait that long for them to sell it someone else the same day it came off the truck. No one there knows what is going on. If you have to wait 5 month for a vehicle I would recommend going somewhere else. read more
