I waited over an hour and a half to get my oil changed, This was a SCHEDULED appointment! AND- I still have to make yet ANOTHER appointment to get some small warranty items looked at! The person on the phone assured me that the appointment I made would be adequate to have a service done and to have some other things looked at. Upon my (early) arrival I was informed that I could only get a service completed, and that I would need to schedule for another time. WHAT? Not to mention that they asked me if I was leaving my truck or if I was waiting for it...... They didn't try to up sell me or force more service on me which was a relief. They got my car back to me very quickly and I was back on the road in no time. here is my post about hurd auto mall just left there after a state inspection and oil change. got told I needed front brake job for 280 dollars, I asked them to see my old pads that came out, the service guy looked at me like I had three heads. 300+ dollars later I leave and the car is not reacting the same, take it back three days later because the service manager "doesn't take phone calls only voicemail" the shop supervisor confirms a problem with the rear suspension. now I get the it will cost you 400 to fix what we think is wrong but were not sure. since we didn't touch the rear it's not our problem your car decided to act wrong right after it gets off our lift. how did you inspect the rear breaks? now Dan, same service guy from 3 days ago says I will get someone to explain to you your problem, some greasy looking mob wanna-be (Ray I think)comes out and tells me it's my problem because they didn't touch it, and sarcastically says "that's right we sabotaged your car" and walks away. Have had nothing but bad experiences and a pack of lies since the purchase of a used F'S truck in July 2013 from these guys. From the day of purchase, it was noted that the rear 12 Vdc power plug was not seated into the rear console. We brought it to the attention of or salesman who directed us to the service department. A service manager inspected the issue and stated the console needed to be replaced. The salesman said he would take care of that paperwork. Weeks went by before we took the vehicle to the dealership for scheduled maintenance. At that time we asked about the console. Nothing had been done! Months later during an oil change sequence we asked again and again nothing had been done about the replacement console. Shortly before Christmas, we were instructed to bring the vehicle to Hurd. We drove the 60 miles round trip just so a supervisor could see the damage. We were given pats on the back and assured the console will be ordered and once it arrived we would be given a call to have it installed. After about three weeks with no communication form Hurd, we called to ask if the part had been received. We were told yes the part arrived the day previous. Now after purchasing the vehicle in July, the damage was finally going to be repaired sometime in mid January. Took the vehicle to Hurd to have the console replaced. Unfortunately we also had a loose oil filter which leaked oil on our garage. A task performed the folks at Hurd. Our focus was on the oil issue and not the console. Once at home the repair order was read. It stated the 12 Vdc power plug was glued in place and no console was replaced. Called Hurd and was told that sales did not want to spend the money for a replacement console. In summary, the sales & service departments at Hurd Auto Mall lie through their teeth from the day our vehicle was purchased to mid January. The day we picked up up our repaired truck, service did not speak to us about the change in repair tactics. Their communication skills are slim to none. If it were up to me, I would treat these folks like the plague! read more

This was the best car buying experience we've had! In the past, car buying was not at all pleasant for us. Chevy salesman, Mike H. was professional & worked hard to keep us in our price range and get my daughter exactly what she wanted. They have a nice, comfy waiting area with a large-screen TV, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks. It is super clean inside and all of the employees are very nice. So I recently posted one of the most horrible experiences I've ever had at a car dealership and I have to say things were made better today. I was promptly contacted about the situation by email and then phone. I had had another issue with the new vehicle and I was told to come in immediately and it was taken care of. I met with both the owner and GM and we talked things through. They took care of the last of the past and we agreed to move forward in a positive direction. First, a clerical error on the dealership end is costing me more of my time to fix what was not my mistake but Hurds. As I am going to do what is right and I the customer will be fixing their mistake. THE CUSTOMER IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT AT HURD. Second, you would think I would receive a full tank of gas to drive off the lot in, the tank was very empty. Nope, we had to go across the street where they did not even put 1/4 tank of gas in. Lastly, upon registering my vehicle with Onstar I get the initial vehicle diagnostics back informing me my tire pressure is already low and an oil change is needed. Moving to the area recently, I was looking for a dealership I could trust and use repeatedly, and I did not find that here. Call for appointment, leave message, not return call Call week later and get someone, then you have to wait a week I bought 2 cars, make apt for oil change, get there and half to wait 2 hours for an oil change take my wives car next day and wait 1 and 45 minutes. My engine light comes on and it takes a week and 2 phone calls to get service appt. So, the purchase of my new Chevy Silverado was typical of every dealership. There was the back and fourth and we ultimately agreed on a price. Sale went through and I was off. I had Veteran plates which I needed transferred over from my previous lease company to GMAC and signed all appropriate paper work for that process. I was given a dealer plate until this process was completed. While waiting I had received 1 letter and two phone calls from old lease company about what I was doing with plates. I spent 18 min on the phone with old lease company and explained Hurd will be taking care of it and plates would be transferred to GMAC. Well this is where the real problem started, my temp plate was about to expire on 9/12 so I called and left sales associate voicemail and because I was driving by and I would be driving illegally the next day I stopped in. I saw my sales person and said hey told him I needed either new temp plate or my veteran plate cause plates expiring. He proceeded to tell me Ally (my old lease company) has been trying to call me and I haven't called them back. I told him I did speak with them on Aug 23. He got up and walked in the back when I heard him yelling about me. When he came out I asked if there was a problem because he seems like he is mad at me? He told me that I walked in here blaming him for the registration. I was thrown off and told him I am not mad at anyone I just need to be driving around legally. He then proceeded to say he didn't like the smirk on my face! I was so thrown off, I said you do not like my face? I then walked away because I was shocked and now mad. All of this happened right on the sales floor. with other sales associates and business people around. As I stood outside angry and mystified by what had just happened he came out with women who had my registration (5 min later). He proceeded to try to apologize saying he had a bad day. I told him I deal with dying people everyday and have never taken my bad days out on anyone. He then said whatever you do not want my apology and told the women to give me the registration and he went in. The registration lady was pleasant and I explained to her I am not trying to blame anyone I just need to be driving around in a legal vehicle. I then called the sales manager who is currently looking into it but I am not holding my breath. If there was a hold up on plates Hurd could have called me and you do not talk that way to someone who has just purchased a 35k truck. I was not making demands and only wanted to drive around legally. Lastly I also asked who owned HURD because I wanted to email them a complaint and was not given that information. It is nice to see this is how HURD treats Veterans and Healthcare workers!! read more

I had a terrible experience at Hurd. After making an appointment to go test drive a car, I was made to wait for an hour to finally drive it. My salesman had a weak handshake and couldn't look me in the eye. I liked the car and after driving some others I made an offer. My initial online offer must have been rejected for being too low but I was never notified of this. I made an offer through my salesman and after waiting for his managers to get out of a 2 hour meeting, we settled on a price. At this point he conveniently forgot that he had offered me $1000 for a trade in. He seemed annoyed that I brought it up and said he would get back to me. More waiting... then he called back and advised me to donate my car to charity for the tax write off. I finally got annoyed with this whole process and decided to terminate the deal. About 5 hours later I got a call from the sales manager also advising me to donate my car to charity. I told him I wasn't interested and now I'm working with Mastria Nissan where they are willing to make arrangements to tow my trade-in and give me a good deal. read more

minority looking for a deal don't go to hurd auto mall in johnston ri for service, honesty or respect. i toke two service engine computer test result from pep boys and b p gas station and toke my 2007 dodge ram 1500 to service advisor #1366 and told him i need my service engine light off so my truck can pass the mass state inspection. about a week later i receive my truck and paid $444.60 i drove away and fifteen minute later my service engine light came on again and was told by service advisor #1366 to drive for fifty miles engine dirty and has to burn off the what is sending wrong signal. back about days later completing the fifty miles he told me i need to pay another $600 to complete the job of turning my engine light off after paying $444.60 for the same oringinal engine light same problems that pep boys and b p station. advisor #1366 is very rude and don't respect minority he told me to pay for new service or "tow my truck to a new dealership". i pay another $91.37 to have my truck engine close and drove from hurd auto mall losing $535.97 and my engine light still on. i ended up paying b p station $625.00. i bought a car in 2012 from them. read more

Expect to be lied to about EVERYTHING, but not just about your car your buying, about your paperwork too. These money hungry people will do or say just about ANYTHING to make a sale. Don't expect them to budge from their sticker price on the cars either. This place is a JOKE, after you purchase a car and sign the paperwork it's like your just another stranger. I will NEVER do business with these people again. Expect to buy a car with numerous things wrong with it and when they assure you theyre "fixing it" they really just set it up so that it looks like its fixed and they do a half ass job with detailing before you get your car. Expect wax marks that look like scratches and a disgusting poor detail job on the interior. Did I mention they will lie during your paperwork? And then weeks later demand changes to your loan or insurance? Talk about unprofessional, money hungry scum bags. I'm surprised these people don't eat their money for lunch. I don't know how these people have families or even look themselves in the mirror each day. Also make sure not to ask them how come magically they demand more money or changes to your loan or you will be rudely assured that "nothing was done by magic, I can assure you that." BUYERS BEWARE WARRANTY IS A LIE! Within the past year I bought two cars from this dealership. One of the cars that we purchased had a minor crack in the plastic guard that protects the speedometer and displays. The sales person we spoke to told us that everything would be on warranty from "Bumper to bumper". Upon realizing this crack I took the car back to Hurd and asked for the replacement. Hurd refused, claiming that this was not covered by warranty and state that it would cost me $600 dollars to fix. We talked back and forth and I got no where they gave me these BS giftcards to Restaurant.com which are more of coupons than even a giftcard. I have no use for these and I'm tired of being lied to. I refuse to pay 600 for a simple piece that SHOULD be under warranty! I spoke to GM's and everybody is giving me the run around.
