After my first bad experience here, I decided not to leave a review at all. It wasn't horrible but it was bad. I decided to give them a second chance. I was seated quickly at a table and told a server would be right over. I just sat for exactly 15 mins, calmly stood up and walked out. Stop in here couple times a year when I'm in the area. I know times are rough with the pandemic and all, but when I notice a bar getting "stingy" with the drinks,,, I usually don't go back for quite some time. Well...Where do we start. The good news: they accommodated our request to sit outside because it was too cold (in June?) on the inside....everything else, not so good. It took over 40 minutes for our order to arrive. Then it arrived cold. So they nuked the order to heat it up; fine. But then they left the side dishes in the kitchen, then the waitress became upset because we didn't specifically order the guacamole and sour cream with our tacos. The fries were greasy. The wings were tough; and they got the wrong sauce order. Then they didn't bring the tokens for games we had won. The folks around us had similar experiences. Just not very good. read more

The Wings were ok but some were undercooked, the calamari was the opposite and severely overcooked and tasted like either the calamari was either bad itself or the oil it was fried in was bad...:or both. While the wings at the Hurricane are not my favorite, I often pick them up here when I have a group of people over because they have over thirty different flavors of sauce that will make everybody happy. Sea Salt and Vinegar wing sauce, who knew such a thing existed! This location has a small outdoor patio along with outside bar seating. Being that I had never been to St Augustine, I came across Hurricane thanks to Yelp. I was craving two things: Wings and Rangers Baseball. Not expecting to find both of these, I lucked out at Hurricane. The wings were fairly good although the Honey BBQ were a bit on the sweet side. The service was friendly and attentive and they were more than happy to switch one of the bar TVs to the Rangers game. While looking for a place to watch the game, I was hoping to avoid a packed, cheesy chain restaurant. Hurricane ended up being just right with a relaxed, beach town vibe. Now....we are wing fanatics....and eat wings everywhere we go. These wings? Best. Ever. Hands down. Same with their nachos. Best nachos I've ever eaten. The firecracker shrimp app is awesome, too. Cyclone sauce...which is a mix of one of their sauces and ranch dressing is to die for. In fact, we ate there twice during the 4 days we were there. The seating is odd....and they have a nice patio....but it was too hot to eat outside when we were there. We were kinda wary after reading mixed reviews, however, we were staying across the street and were very hungry. We were greeted immediately and after being sat, our waitress took our drink orders and was back in just a few seconds. My daughter ordered a burger and it was excellent! Smokey and juicy; well done. I ordered the Yuengling Fish and fries and it was the best flaky fish I've ever had. My husband ordered the wings in hot sauce (yummy!!) and garlic parmesan buffalo. The garlic was good but had A LOT of minced garlic on them, and my husband couldn't finish them. The beer was cold and the drinks were refilled fast. Typically a big fan of Hurricane Grill, I've been to several and usually enjoy myself and my meal. However, this specific location was far from a great experience. First off, my 3 year daughter could make better wings in her fake Betty Crocker kitchen set. I am not joking I would rather eat a deep fried dog turd over these wings. Second, the customer service was atrocious. Due to the fact that the wings tasted like they were rubbed all over the urinal before being plated I needed a substantial amount of dipping sauce to get through the meal. But of course it took 30 minutes to get my sauce. That meal should be served in prison, but even that may be too harsh of a punishment. Will not be back. read more

We decided to try this place as a last resort. Bad idea. Every other place was packed so we were basically choosing between here and ham sandwiches back at the condo. Should've opted for the ham sandwiches. We were seated quickly on the outside deck. It smells horrible. Like a dirty locker room. Disgusting. There was also a couple of loud, drunk women hitting on all the guys around them. Very annoying. Should've sat inside. I had the chicken tenders. They were so greasy the tray liner was saturated and finally disintegrated. The breading all fell off too. My girlfriend had the shrimp tacos. There were two or three pre-breaded shrimp and a couple of pineapple tidbits on them. Very disappointing. They had live entertainment which was a kid playing the guitar and singing for tips. He was as bad as the food and the odor on the deck. Your best bet is somewhere else or a ham sandwich at the hotel or condo. read more

This place was recommended by my husband. He went here before with his boss and had a good experience. Our whole family came here for lunch. The place is cute not busy on Saturday afternoon. The server was nice and friendly, but very slow getting our drinks and ordering appetizer. When we finally got our drinks 15 min she left and didn't take our order so wait another long time before ordering. When we finally order it took another long time we prob didn't get to eat about prob 1 hr for all the waiting. By the time we got our food some didn't get how we wanted the Med rear burger came well done, my oldest son philly steak was good, my fish sandwich was good, my jalapeño fries was not spicy or has any? My husband didn't get his meal so we eat without him. Their excuse was his burger was over cooked and had to re do. When he finally got it while we're half way done. He was not happy with it! It was missing cheese and meat was too rear than he wanted so he eat half and we left. That was long and disappointing. Might just a bad day or something. Who knows? Awesome little bar! I used to go to hurricanes years ago in Las Vegas before they closed down. I was craving a burger yesterday and wanted to watch some World Cup games. Sat at the bar and was greeted quickly, even though the place was very busy (especially for a Tuesday). Had a beer and ordered the build-a-burger, medium with sautéed mushrooms, American cheese, red onion, lettuce and mayo and had them do the lime-habanero rub on the burger. BANGIN!!! Seriously one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. It was cooked properly and had a nice heat to it. Also got a side of hot teriyaki sauce to pour on it. Unreal!!! Fries were cold though. Womp womp. One of those places I want to try one of everything on their menu. Decisions, decisions. Bartender was also very friendly and helpful (didn't catch her name). I am from Buffalo and most wings do not measure up. (Don't even get me going on "boneless wings"!! Just say fried chicken breast chunks! Argh!) So i was impressed with the size of these wings: not Buffalo big, but meaty and jumbo. And the hot Buffalo sauce was also tasty. These like most non Buffalo wings are a bit slimy: maybe they over butter when they sauce? Nor do they finish wings on a charcoal grill, like some of the most popular Buffalo joints. And they have a lot of sauces but honestly most sounded unappetizing!! And probably not house made. The house specialty garlic hot had an offputting sweetness, but it was just as hot as promised: 10 out of 10. So...better than most, but puzzling in the lack of knockout sauces and no good char grilled BBQ wing option. Waitress was super nice, and they have a good selection of Florida microbrews! I will be back for my next wing fix, but I will stick to the basics: extra hot Buffalo and an ice cold FL IPA!! read more

My family ate the wings, we tried several flavors. None of them were very good, my wife hated her flavor (honey). The wings tasted as if no seasoning was used, they were thrown into a fryer and then covered in very mild sauces. My son ordered the second hottest wings on the menu, they were very mild, no lip tingle at all. All four of us agreed, worst wings we have ever had. We also had Hurricane nachos as an appitizer. There was hardly any cheese on them, and the cheese that was on them tasted like tostitos cheese, they were mostly covered in mild BBQ sauce. It tasted like something from a dorm room. Smoke was coming into the eating areas from outside due to the staff having huge open windows from the inside bar to the outside seating.... also the main door was left wide open to the outside smoking area. The staff was very attentive and nice though other than a mass of them all just sitting and talking together the entire time we were there. But staff should be attentive when you are the only table with people. Only a few other people (maybe 4 or 5) at the bar and outside drinking. read more

Very disappointed in their service.. This was my second time going to this Hurricane grill.. I waited for 10 minutes while servers passed by our table and no one bought us water or asked if we were being served . I watch another couple walk in and get served water immidiately. Thats when i asked a waitress passing by, who was our server? She had no clue who was taking care of us.. such a disappointment because their wings are good.. just make sure you ask who is your server before they sit you down.. Could not have asked for a sweeter server than Kim! Went to Hurricane's to try out their fried pickles. We were NOT disappointed. We also tried the new maple pepper bacon flavored wings. OMG! They were to die for. We were so well taken care of by Kim. We have traveled from Las Vegas and tried many places. If you have ever been to Vegas, you would know that service is everything. My party and I escaped the organic and gluten-free to enjoy a nice burger and wing joint. After reading the other reviews, the wings seemed to hold my interest and lure me in. The atmosphere was a bit crowded, but plenty of seating inside and out. We chose a table outside; we were not informed of the construction that was being performed above us, and during our meal we had to listen to loud banging and hammering. This was during normal lunch hours (1pm) which made me wonder, but still did not take away from the other aspects. +0 The service was friendly, and answered any questions that we had. Sitting outside, I expected a wait, but it seemed to take a while for our food order, food to arrive, and check. Overall meal took a little more than an hour for wings and shrimp. Drinks were replaced normally. +1 The menu seemed varied, with typical bar food mixed with some local seafood dishes; the wing sauce selection was varied, and all sauces seemed to be homemade. I love spicy so I always choose the hottest; on my heat level, I'd give it a 7/10. However, the other sesame flavor was delicious, and varied the spices. Fries were extra crispy and perfect, not over salted. The food was fresh and came out steaming hot with a smiling face. +2 Overall hot, fresh food with a delicious taste! Service was a bit slow for a lunch meal, but the friendly service made up for the noisy construction and slow wait time.
