Jambalaya - Shrimp, chicken, andouille sausage, bell peppers, onion, celery and tomato over rice
    John R.

Came here to get fresh catch cooked up. We asked for it blackened and more blackened. The more blackened was the favorite for the entire group, but both were great. For my main course, I had the Jambalaya - Shrimp, chicken, andouille sausage, bell peppers, onion, celery and tomato over rice, which was awesome. For Jambalaya this one wasn't too dry, and the spice level was perfect. Dessert was Key Lime Pie. Does it beat Kermit's? Well, I guess you will need to try and decide for yourself. I still prefer Kermit's but others were mixed on their favorites. The place itself has a friendly feel to it. Yes, it is part of a marina, but for the most part, once you go through the restaurant entrance, you are in a different outside world. There are covered areas too if needed.

Marina is super cute and has a bar and restaurant. You can rent boats, jet skis, kayak, and paddleboard here. You can even have a guided tour. Your right in the marina that leads out directly to the ocean. Four legged friends are allowed on all re tals as well so bring them along.

On our way to our next destination and saw this place has high ratings on Yelp and will accommodate the dog. Perfect! We were seated right on the water. Was so nice to see the boars and enjoy the sunshine. Excellent food. Great service too. The restaurant has earned all those five stars! Highly recommend

Amazing food - super fresh and great service! Ver enjoyable outside seating next to docks where you can enjoy the wildlife.

This dockside outdoor restaurant is shaded and casual. The service and food were excellent. The Fresh Catch Ruben was generous and delicious. Good prices and refreshing bar drinks. The pet friendly shaded patio was perfect.

    Conch fritters

Wow!!!! From the happy hour, to the conch fritters, fresh yellowtail snapper and key lime pie - all AMAZING!!! Great little hole in the wall with the best food and service! Michelle, our server was great - gave us excellent suggestions and sold us on the pie - best on the island!

One of the best rum, rum runners I've had besides Tropics in Clearwater, Florida

We were recommended this place by some friends and if I could give it 10 stars I would! We went for happy hour appetizers and drinks and our waitress. Michele was phenomenal. The food was amazing. Snapper was the catch of the day and for appetizer we had snapper bites and the chicken nachos. I wish I had been smart enough to take a picture of the chicken nachos they were so good!! neat little marina amazing wait staff!! You have to go to hurricane hole if you're in Key West!!

Cook your catch - lionfish & Hogfish , grilled, blackened, Panko.

Hurricane Hole always has solid food, and great outdoor atmosphere. Right overlooking the water, you can always see tarpon swimming in the marina and often times manatees while you're eating your lunch or dinner. They have a great happy hour 4-7pm with discounted appetizers, beers, well, drinks, and wine , every day. My favorite food is the blackened chicken bowl. You can also get it with fish. My husband has had the burger a few times, It is massive with two patties. My favorite part about hurricane hole is the very affordable "cook your catch " which they will cook whatever fish or lobster you bring to them from your fishing trip (already filleted) for $13 a person. They cook your catch grilled, blackened, Panko crust, or fried. Some of the blackened fish was too heavily blackened, it over-took the taste of the fish. But otherwise delicious. You can get an optional taco setup for $2 extra. It's the most affordable cook-your-catch on the island!!! Make sure to try the Tito's fresh lemonade on tap!! The lemons are fresh squeezed. You can tell it is real!! So addicting and the vodka goes down like water. Lol. I eat here a lot and I'll continue to come back!

The best key lime pie in the keys. Believe me.

Where you can have your catch cooked at $14pp with a choice of fried, blackened or Panko. Will recommend blackened - perfectly seasoned ( not too much and you cna taste your fish) Choice of several sides ( rice and black beans , coleslaw and sweet potato fries - extra $1.00) They have the best key lime pie - big portion , thick and creamy, balance of sweetness and tartness of the lime. The crust is amazing. Amazing service - shout out to Lauren Cocktails are good as well. Definitely a place to go when you leaving in the keys. And the best part is you have the view of the marina - maybe with fisherman and their catches. Also check out the area where they clean the fish - there are nurse sharks.

Yes for: quick service, huge portions of food, fair prices! No for: too much salt in the food, both of our dishes were very salty. Also very minor but it would be nice to have beer in glasses not in plastic cups.

The catch of the day (yellowtail snapper) in seasoned panko with fries, housemase tartar and cornbread
    Emily M.

We stopped for lunch this time at the Hurricane Hole. The catch of the day was yellowtail snapper. The chalkboard also announced that "It's too hot for soup!" They're not wrong. It's been very hot for October. Despite that we dined outside because our child adores the "black & red pirate ship". The sign was up to "please seat yourself" so we sat in a shaded spot where we could watch the play area. The service was fast, and the right level of attentive. I chose the catch of the day in panko and what I received was highly seasoned with light flaky texture. Everything was nicely cooked and not especially greasy, as fish and chips often can be. The tartar sauce is a great counterpoint to the seasoning in the panko. Husband has a Caesar salad with blackened catch of the day. He loves yellowtail.

    Chicken tenders and fries

Great lunch spot!! We ordered blackened yellowtail snapper and chicken tenders -- both were so good! The snapper was super fresh and tasty. The service was also really good!!!

So a friend keeps his boat here, and we've had drinks there. Amazing tiki bar feel sitting by the water. Today, we stayed near there and went in for lunch. If you go, go hungry. The food is great, the portions are huge, service is great! We had the conch fritters, catch of day bites, & fried pickles for appetizers (that should've been all we ordered), but silly us ordered the Catch Bowl & Catch Tacos which the catch was Yellowtail Snapper, and they both were amazingly tasty. Needless to say we're having leftovers for supper!

We ended up going upstairs to Café at Louie's, and honestly, it turned out to be such a great experience! The food was absolutely amazing, the cocktails were delicious, and the atmosphere was beautiful and unique. Everything was high quality and full of flavor. And the octopus was probably the best I've ever had! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Key West and a place I would love to come back to!

My entrée and dessert were both delicious and beautifully presented. The chicken practically fell off the bone and was incredibly flavorful, while the desserts were simply outstanding. During our meal, Louie came out to check on everyone and told us we should call him "Big Louie." He even promised that if we ever shouted his name while in trouble around town, he would come bail us out, just once. As fate would have it, my girlfriend and I were later surrounded by seven seashell-wielding gangsters, two suspicious pelicans, and a man dressed entirely in inflatable flamingos. The gangsters demanded our wallets, our leftovers, and proof that we had properly enjoyed the ocean view. Just as I prepared to defend our honor, I shouted, "BIG LOUI!" into the night. A foghorn blasted, a nearby conch shell began playing the opening notes of "Eye of the Tiger," and a black 1969 Chevy Camaro came roaring around the corner. It had flame decals, orange dice in the mirror, and what appeared to be a tiny disco ball hanging from the antenna. Big Louie stepped out wearing a sequined tuxedo and carrying two limited-edition baseball bats signed by Babe Ruth, Elvis Presley, and possibly one of the pelicans. He tossed me one, struck a heroic pose, and together we performed a ten-minute, perfectly choreographed defensive dance routine that sent the gangsters fleeing into the mangroves. The pelicans applauded. The inflatable flamingo joined our party. Big Louie charged us exactly one rescue and then disappeared into the night as confetti fell from the sky. It was a wonderful experience.

The quest for the best key lime pie in Key West began over dinner on Monday night, when I mentioned wanting to check out Kermit's on my friend recommendation, lamenting that I never got to enjoy a truly good key lime pie during my first and last visit in 2020. The one I had then was... not good. (I now know the dead giveaway is that it was green). What followed has become a pursuit of principle: truly a noble quest I can get behind. Fast-forward 3 days, and here's our verdict so far, with one contender still to come. Tomorrow night we're headed to Red Shoe Island Bistro for dinner at the insistence of a local who claims it blows Kermit's cheesecake out of the water: 1. Kermit's - The benchmark. Bright, tart, light, and perfectly balanced. 2. Hurricane Hole - Good, but missing the extra punch of tartness that puts Kermit's over the top. 3. El Siboney - Solid, but denser and more cheesecake-like, but also lacking the light, airy tartness of Kermit's. 4. Key Lime Pie Bakery - Forgettable in a town where memorable matters. 5. Matt's Stock Island Kitchen - Overly sweet with virtually no lime (or even lemon) presence. Our slice came boxed with whipped cream and... cherry sauce?! If you'd called it birthday cake, I'd have found that a more accurate description. Might as well call it Diabetes On a Plate. Tomorrow morning, a plan was proposed (that I seconded): we'll stop by Kermit's to grab two slices to go and stash them in the fridge, specifically to revisit after dinner at Red Shoe Bistro as a point of reference. If Red Shoe's pie ends up being too close to call, we'll have no choice but to bring a slice home and do a true, side-by-side comparison in real time. And in the interest of not ending the trip on a sour note if tomorrow night disappoints, at least we'll be leaving Key West on Friday morning with Kermit's key lime pie as our final bite.

In fact while we were eating dinner a couple guys got back from their fishing trip with a gigantic grouper they just caught. There is a small kids play area that looked a little sketchy. It was 7 of us having dinner and we all left satisfied which is hard to do especially with 2 kids along. Both kids got the Mac & Cheese and they loved every bite. My mother got the lobster roll and said it was fantastic. I tried the fresh catch of the day sandwich with a side of rice and black beans. Both were phenomenal. Everyone else got burgers and fries. All 3 people said the same thing, the fries didn't taste fresh. Our server was amazing, he kept checking on us and he was the one to tell us about the guys coming back with that large fish so the kids could go check it out. If we were locals I would definitely come back.
