We were staying at Pier House and this is their restaurant. This was the ONLY redeeming part of the Pier House 'resort'. Their breakfasts were very good - a limited menu but generous portions and they offered gluten-free bread for toast or French Toast. Everything was always very fresh and their fried potatoes were excellent! We had our Anniversary dinner here and it was good, not great. The fish was cooked perfectly but the couscous was very bland. We did get a complimentary piece of key-lime pie for dessert in celebration which was a very nice touch. My husband who is gluten-free was offered warmed gluten-free bread which was appreciated. Very nice waterfront dining for breakfast. One downside is the wait staff isn't consistent - lots of new hires that weren't really familiar with the menu. read more

Booked dinner here to enjoy the sunset, but unfortunately there was a private party occupying the sunset deck area so we were seated on the opposite side. Had we been told prior to that this was the case we would have booked elsewhere. The ladies next to us were celebrating a birthday and they too booked for the sunset view. We all made do by going up a flight of stairs to stand on the deck to see the sunset, but unfortunately our food arrived while up there for 5min, so when we can back down it was getting cold (wisely the ladies' waiter held their food until after the sunset). Food tasted good-white conch chowder was creamy & buttery, pink shrimp Scampi with key lime. Caesar salad had too much dressing, but did taste good. The transparent roll down awning handled the wind and maintained our view. The server Cristin was practically telepathic and made the craft cocktails herself of rum and goodness. My lady and I split scallops appetizer, coconut snapper and sundried tomatoes gnocchi. The scallops were buttery with/polenta just right; snapper delicious, the punch in the mouth, surprise delight; the gnocchi! Last but certainly not least, the best key lime pie I've had ever and I've had plenty. Apparently the sous chef takes pride in hand making the is pie with toasty whipped fluffiness atop. We stumbled upon this place on our first night visiting Key West. It was located directly across from the Ocean Key Spa & Resort where we were staying. We went for dinner around 730-8pm, not knowing what to expect or wait times, etc. To our surprise, the place wasn't busy at all. We chose to sit inside as the wind was brisk along the ocean. The ambience was nice and quiet. We were in casual clothes and this is a place you could do casual or fancy, whatever you were looking for. The service was outstanding. There was one waiter who was also the bartender. He did a fabulous job! The drinks were STIFF! HAHA! Only need one, maybe 2 for a buzz! My husband enjoyed an old fashioned and he puckered with the first sip. They do have a kids menu, but my daughter chose the New York strip. It was cooked to her liking. I had a filet mignon, also excellent! My husband had a special for the night which was a jumbo shrimp curry. He said it was also outstanding. The presentation of the meals was excellent and had fresh orchid flowers for accents. We also tried the key lime pie and our daughter had chocolate mousse cake with ice cream; both were outstanding! The place is priced $$$$, we paid a bit over $200 for the 4 of us. We're okay paying that price periodically for a nice meal with outstanding service. For appetizers, we ordered a caprese salad and conch chowder. The caprese salad was the favorite and was well plated. The conch chowder was ok... Kind of bland. For the main course, we ordered a spinach and goat cheese salad, good, but nothing super special; lobster mac & cheese which my friend really enjoyed; and a chicken dish (I can't remember the name) which my friend said was good, but not phenomenal. I had the buttermilk pancakes and a side of apple wood smoked bacon. It was pretty standard for what it was but no complaints at all. My sister had the French toast and said it was one of the best she's had! She also has the hash browns and i tried some, also standard but good. The restaurant really doesn't have a view other than the garden , but still very pretty. Has a very modern upscale ambience. Once we were seated, I made only noticed the beautiful silver napkin rings glasses and pendant lighting which was very pretty. Soothing Music with a romantic atmosphere. We ordered wine, and then had crab cake appetizer, which was very fresh and tasty. My husband ordered a pork chop which had a really good Bourbon sauce. He said the pork chop it's just average. THE VIEW! Let's start with that. You're on the water and can either watch the sun set or just have a peaceful evening meal by candlelight once it goes down. This was the best atmosphere or any restaurant we went to in our 5 days on the island. Food wise - we were also very satisfied. The bread was relatively average but the Butternut Squash Ravioli melted in my mouth with an array of flavors and my wife enjoyed the New York Strip with port wine drizzle. Both were well done and left us satisfied. Beware- False advertising. They have a bait and switch tactic going on. Every day in the local Key West citizen newspaper they have a large ad boasting a locals special. The 2 stars are only for the food which was phenomenal. The drinks were terrible (wine was corked, beer was skunked and well drinks were watered down). But worst of all was the "manager" who allowed a screaming baby and a barking dog next to our table but made us shut off our Christmas music because they didn't like it. But the restaurant was not playing music at all. On Christmas Eve they played zero music but allowed a dog on the patio of a nice restaurant. Poor review is given to management and the drinks. Both were fairly simple dishes, but tasted very fresh. My husband enjoyed his meal as well, although he described the scallion potato cake as "different" - apparently it was very mushy inside but very crispy outside. The view was lovely. I can't handle heat well, so we chose to sit inside and there was still a nice view of the ocean from our table. Props to our server - Alex from Romania. It was his first night as a waiter and he did a great job. He was quick without hovering and was friendly without being too pushy. The only minor complaint is that people from the attached hotel freely wandered through the outdoor seating area on their way to/from the pool. Struggling to pick a 3 or a four but gave them a bump for the beautiful water side view. We had a big group and this place was empty, no ambiance. But it was clean, air conditioned and was covered. Wait staff was very slow and absent of service mindedness. again we were a group of 12 and maybe 2 other 2-3 person tables in the entire place. Meals here were a bit pricey for what you get but worth the quality. None of the food wowed any of us and we tried everything on the menu. The desserts were in fact delicious and very well prepared. I would have liked for the entrée and app's to be tastier but they left a lot to be desired. Just were made with quality food products. Again, nothing that wowed me or any of us. I ordered the New York strip and my wife ordered the lobster. The steak was a little bit over cooked and lacked any seasoning or flavor. The lobster was cooked appropriately and the drawn butter was delicious. The real trouble we had was that everything just tasted bland. This was especially true of all of the side dishes, the mash potatoes, Spanish yellow rice were basically flavorless. It's a shame because they got the ambiance and service down. I'm so confused to why this place only has 2 reviews! The place is gorgeous-- the interior is super modern and they have a patio overlooking the ocean. We had dinner while the sun was setting and it was gorgeous. It would be the perfect setting for a Key West wedding or rehearsal dinner! We had the bacon wrapped scallops, the spiny lobster and the seared tuna. Everything was delicious. The prices are way more reasonable than the neighboring restaurants on Duval Street.
