Today she received a call that they were going to be $50 more than she paid.(a 20% increase) very frustrating. His assistant and the front desk gals are equally friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. We have always been treated respectfully and patiently. Dr. Dorius is very professional and does a high quality eye exam. However, the pricing for eyeglasses is outrageous. I paid over $525 for one pair and had to wait a ridiculous 3.5 WEEKS for them to arrive. Meanwhile, I had a second pair (sunglasses) made at Costco for less than $300 and they were ready in 5 DAYS. I recommend that you to Hurricane Eyecare for your exam but purchase your glasses elsewhere!! read more

DON'T USE THESE ASSHOLES......they cater to the FLDS (FUCKING LOWLIFE DUMB SHITS) they don't even deserve 1 star.The staff in front are rude, we didn't fill the paper work out right and the youngest little bitch just rolled her eyes, should've left then. They charged me almost 500 dollars for my glasses and I have insurance! The prescription was wrong the first time so they did another exam and guess what it was wrong again! so they blamed me for doing the exams wrong. WTF.... I have been going here for a few years. Dr. Dorius is a kind and knowledgeable doctor. The office runs on time and is very clean. I never felt pushed into getting something I didn't need. This is my first time with contact this year and Dr. Dorius said we will try different things until we find what is perfect for me. The staff was great in teaching me what I needed to know. Stopping in for an adjustment on my glasses was easy and fast. I needed a screw for my sunglasses I didn't even buy there and they found one for me no charge. The office staff was nice to me and knew their insurance information which helped me. I have no reason to go elsewhere. 4 starts because I like to get perks, discounts and freebies at a doctor office and there aren't any here. Have been a patient about one year. One reason I picked them was their after hours emergency service that others were iffy about. On June 10 about 9:45 PM I had a piece of a contact lens remained in my eye and I could not remove it. Phoned Hurricane eye care and their message had an emergency contact option. Recorded my problem and within 5 minutes the Doctor phoned me. Arranged to meet me in his office in about 20 minutes. Got there and he found the lens under the upper eyelid and removed it. Was very gracious even though I interrupted his night. read more

My son and I had a great experience with Hurricane Valley Eye Care. Our appointments were scheduled at the same time and we were both out within an hour after complete eye exams and ordering of new frames and lenses. Our doctor was extraordinarily kind and very knowledgeable. Out technicians were patient and friendly and really helped walk us through all the insurance information as well. After getting past the registration paperwork , which I found disconcerting, and outmoded, asking questions of your marital status, ethnicity, and your mother's maiden name. In addition to this, when I questioned the necessity of asking about this, apparently there had been tension regarding this matter before - - there was an iciness to how the receptionist responded to me, but she did say that I didn't need to fill in one answer, and why the question was asked. After this process, the atmosphere became relaxed and congenial. The good news is that upon arriving at the office - I found it clean, and pleasant. The office was easily accessible, right off the main street, with parking in front. The assistant to the doctor was personable, and professional. The doctor, Dr. Dorius, was kind, professional, and alleviated my worry and concern about my eye, which had been injured. His examination was thorough, he listened to me, and educated me about the eye. He showed me on a visual reproduction of the eye, where the eye had been hurt, and the path to healing my eye would take, and the length of time it would take. He was funny, alleviating my stress. I left feeling unburdened by my concerns. I was then ready to fully continue enjoying my vacation without the subtle , but underlying moments of doubt that interrupted my sense of well being. read more

Dr. Dorius seems like a very nice person and Melanie is spectacular. The problem is the 2 female receptionists at the front desk. One young, dark-haired, the other older, probably mid-late fifties. As a first time visitor, I felt abused and disrespected by these females. After turning in their paperwork, the younger girl appeared to become angry, rolling her eyes and sighing in disbelief because I didn't fill out an optional answer question. I was returning to my seat, back turned away from them, as both females stood up, attempted to come outward from behind the desk and began following me with raised voices, aggressively exclaiming how I didn't sign a piece of paper. These females invaded my personal space, making me feel as if I needed to utilize the fight or flight response. My husband and I were flabbergasted at these females behavior as were 5 other customers who witnessed this gang-like mentality. I was highly uncomfortable, as we contemplated leaving, we were called for our appointments. Against our better judgement we stayed. It must be noted that one reason people do not readily give personal information out, is that the younger girl, whom we later found out is related to the office manager, left a clip board with all patients personal information out on the desk during our appointments. You definitely get away with murder when you're employed by family members. That younger girl should ask for a return of the Communications degree, as she needs to start over. You failed! These two females need to travel, let say Detriot or LA. Now let's see you pull that nonsense on your elders... read more
