I had cataracts removed and a toric lense replacement to correct both far sightedness and astigmatism on April 16th. The outcome was beyond words, I now have 20/20 vision as determined by the day after surgery exam. I had the right eye corrected in the same fashion on April 30th. I had my day after surgery exam performed today 5/1/2025 and I have 20/20 vision in my right eye as well. The entire experience with Zion Eye Institute was nothing short of fantastic, to the entire support staff and to Dr Denny I now for the first time in my life can see without glasses. read more

I've done business here for years. I find Dr. Edwards one of the best... .......but the office experience is horrid. I needed a copy of my prescription and was told it would cost $35.00. When was able to talk to a human being was told is was "their policy." The explanation was confusing. inconsistent and disjointed. It makes me wonder if they are having cash flow issues. I talked to three people before I got some sort of an answer. The 35 dollars is not an issue....but the inconsistency is troubling. Very troubling. read more

We have now tried this office 3 different times for eye exams. Terrible service. You will wait for at least 30 min before your appt in the waiting room and 15-30 in the middle of the appt to see the doctor. Technicians are doing the eye exams, not a doctor or even an optometrist. Our most recent visit was the straw that broke the camels back. My 95 year old father went for his exam and they gave him an RX for glasses. Upon getting his new glasses made at Costco, we found out that the RX was totally wrong, he couldn't see with it. So we had the optometrist at Costco do a new exam and found out that the Zion Rx was completely wrong. Zion eye has techs do the exams and I can only assume that they are not trained very well and do not do a thorough enough exam. Or they were just incompetent when notating the information and giving us the RX. Either way we are done with Zion eye. They are obviously in it for "volume" and not for patient care. read more

I recently had an appointment at Zion Eye Institute in Mesquite, NV First the facts: 1. While scheduling an appointment I asked for the prices as I am a self-pay. 2. I was quoted $87.00 for exam includes refraction, plus charges for other tests. 3. Upon arrival for my 8:50am appointment, I asked why the odd time? Julie said because we schedule exams every ten minutes. (more on that in a bit) 4. Was called back by tech Alexa at 9:10am, upon entering room there were 2 uncapped eye dropper bottles on the counter. 5. She starts with her duties then comes time for the refraction, I mention to her that the lenses seem very cloudy, hmmm she says and continues till I move my head away to say that it seems counter productive to have this test for which offers precision in correcting one's vision if the lenses are so obviously clouded. I then said why don't you have a look for yourself....to which she responded, "Oh my that is bad, I don't even know how I'd clean it". 6. She proceeds to try to wipe with a tissue then an alcohol pad then tissue again, which did nothing to clear the lenses of the cloudiness. She said to ask the doctor to retest cause the equipment in his room might be clearer. 7. Here comes the two uncapped eye dropper bottles to dilate the pupils...then upon leaving the room the bottles were still uncapped. (What is that, a time saver for them?) 8. Next is the exam with Dr. Denney, then led to the front with a "I'll see you in 6 months". 9. I'm ready to pay and am told it will be $280.00 10. I pulled out my paper with the appointment date, time and price info and asked Julie how did my exam go from $87.00 which I was quoted to $201.00? She responded with a long series of inept excuses a couple of phones calls (upon my urging for an answer) to finally be told well it really depends on your age ---- yes, she said that with by now 5 other senior patients waiting next to me to pay or sign out. To say the least, that statement was highly insensitive, not to mention inflammatory and discriminatory! 11. She then proceeds to tell me to step aside so she can take care of the other patients. To which I said "And I have been here since 8:45" Even more nonsensical information from Julie. I pay and instruct Julie that I'lI call if I wish to proceed with a 6-month check-up. I walk out the door at 10:13 Now I could really get into the minutiae here, but I trust if you are reading this you have the necessary skills to detect more unbelievably rude stuff fell out of her mouth, suffice it to say this could be 2 pages long but I'll spare everyone that humiliation of her lack of knowledge and absolute zero professionalism. So - Let us assume for a minute some other possible information: Office hours 8 to 5, lunch = 1 hour, exams scheduled every 10 minutes. Quick math: Let's say average exam is $201.00 x 6 appointments per hour x 8 hours worked = $9,648.00 that is a nice chunk of change for a day's work for the doctor. Plus the cost of any other tests are charged their respective fees. Let's assume he works 3 days a week that equates to $28,944.00 again not bad, right? Well, you would think earning that kind of coin they'd have a little better control of training and hiring the right personnel to fit their practice - UNLESS it is an intentional aspect of doing their practice - shut up, pay your fees and don't question anything we do. Well, no thank you very much! I will take my hard-earned dollars to a reputable caring practice. Patient BEWARE! I did receive a text the following day asking to rate my experience with a zero to 10 (zero being not at all likely to refer this practice) I chose 'Zero' , then another dialog box pops up wanting to know further details. I obliged and gave a quick summary and stated that if they also found these actions and behavior abhorrent that I would be expecting someone from their practice to reach out to me directly, for now. Well, it has been 7 days now and no one has cared to reach out, hence the only choice is to post this review for all to read and become better informed at making a decision to not schedule an appointment with this practice. read more

Went to office in Mesquite, NV. Very unprofessional. Had appointment waited for ever as Doctor Denny played on computer, office staff reminded him several times patients were waiting. We could see him from our waiting seats. Because on medi-care assumed I wanted medi-care lenses and treatment. No that is not what I want, I can pay for better lenses. Zero bed side manner! Got the bums rush for sure. Went to Las Vegas to five star rated practice, worth the drive. Would have no confidence in Zion working on my eyes! read more

Beware of very poor service! For cataract service, you consult with the eye coordinator to decide what to do with your eyes, without the knowledge and expertise of a doctor. They have the checkup service reversed so they can run patients through at a rapid pace--it's all about the volume of visits and money! 1) You see the doctor, 2) You get your checkup, and 3) You consult with the surgery coordinator to answer your questions and decide what to do with your eyes! That's a doctor function, not a coordinator! We asked to see the doctor, and they had him call us to talk over the phone. Needless to say, we did not accept his phone call, cancelled the surgery, and went to a real eyecare facility. read more

The worst run office of any type I have ever been too. Both appt.s were way over booked. Waited almost an hour the first time (last Aug.). At the next appt.(Aug. 3 2021) I still was not called up for the next one after 40 min. I checked and they said another 30-40 min. I said I was done with them and left! I have suffered through for consistently terrible experiences at Zion eye Institute. If you can go anywhere else, you should! From doctors who are too rushed to explain what a procedure is and why I need it, to receptionists who forget appointments and leave me off the calendar, to waiting room endurance tests of more than an hour and a half, after which I get re-scheduled -- this place is totally awful! Arrived for an appointment that I confirmed on 3 different occasions to have a cataract removed. The doctor at Paradise Optometry in St George, diagnosed my condition and arranged for the surgery with Zion Eye. They left messages on my phone twice with different appointment times. So I called again the day before, 3/30/21, to confirm the procedure and arrival time. When I got there, only one person was working, and standing at the counter, the young lady said "why are you here?" For cataract surgery. She seemed very upset and said in a ride way that was as disrespectful as I can ever recall. I don't want to list the entire situation, however suffice it to say that on this 31st day March at 1:45pm, Zion Eye became the absolutely worse service provider I've ever had in 50 years. I know there are times when folks are having a bad day, but you do not treat a disabled veteran (I had my hat on), or anyone that way. read more

this is the worst most unprofessional office i have ever been in. i would have like to have put a one star review but i couldn't do that to Dr. Edwards. he is an excellent doctor very professional and so kind (i give him 5 stars) HOWEVER...the office and the front desk people would get zero stars if that was an option. they are so rude and have no consideration at all. i got surgery at the washington location and had to go in every two weeks for post op appointments and each visit would take a minimum of 2 hours of just waiting. i would see doctor edwards for about 15 min of that time. at one point they announced to me in front of a full waiting room that i owed money and they wouldn't be able to get me to doctor edwards until that got paid. they made sure everyone could hear too. how fun for me. however, my post op appointments were included in the cost i paid out of pocket for my surgery. i tried explaining this to the receptionist but she would have no part of listening to me. i stopped going for months after this and called to set up one final post op appointment about 4 months later. i had to wait 3 months to get in. when i got there they once again tried to say i would owe money for the appointment (when i had already paid for the surgery and post op appointments) because i was 3 days past the year mark of my surgery. but i had tried to schedule 3 months before this and they are the reason i had to way to so long to get in. anyways it was a horrific experience and i do not recommend. if you made it this far thanks for allowing me to vent to you about how awful the service is. read more

I called with an urgent and painful condition that they have treated multiple times in the past. A condition they have told me themselves needs treated immediately. Was given an appointment for a month and a half out. I explained my situation, asked them to ask the doctor what I should do and was promised a call back. I called 4 times over 3 days each time leaving a message and told I'd get a call back by end of day. Never got a call, I just went to a different practice. read more

I was scheduled for cataract surgery and when I arrived I was told that they were about an hour behind schedule. Why wouldn't you call your patients to let them know rather than having them wait in the waiting area the entire time. It ended up being about a two hour wait. During the surgery I was very uncomfortable and advised the Doctor (Dr. Denney). His response was to lay still so he could finish. Subsequent to the surgery, I was having horrible problems with dry eye. I saw Dr. Denney and he was very dismissive telling me to use eye drops. As I was leaving, Dr. Denney stated that FYI, your eyes didn't appear to be dry and to follow up if I had any further problems. I immediately went home and scheduled an appointment with another provider in St. George. They have been very helpful and determined that there is, in fact, an issue with eye dryness. In addition, today I received a statement from Zion for a surgery in February. They adhered a big red "FINAL NOTICE' sticker in the address window of the envelope. This is very offensive as I have never received an invoice until today. I do not recommend Zion Eye Institute or Dr. Denney. read more

I have been going to the zion eye institute since 2018. I haven't ever had a problem and always had a good experience. My glasses are old and the lenses have been falling out, I've tightened them 4 times. I also had just ran out of my last pair of contacts. I called zion eye and spoke to the receptionist and told her about what was going on. I asked if I could come and pick up a sample pair of contacts. She said that they couldn't give me a sample pair of contacts. I told her on my license it says that I have to have corrective lenses and she said well I don't know what you want me to do. I also explained to her that I had to work but she couldn't have cared less. I asked her what am I supposed to do? Drive to work for my shift and work a shift without being able to see my surroundings? She said and I quote well I don't know what you expect me to do dear, maybe you shouldn't have broken your glasses or ordered your lenses on a different day and you wouldn't be in this situation. First off, every time I go to the office there is a new front desk girl that doesn't seem to know what they are doing. I fill more paperwork out at this doctors office than any other office I have been to. Second the waiting time is obscene. You get called back to find out there is a second waiting area full of people. The technician works you up, which most the time is good and they are very friendly, but the wait time after seeing the technicians is up to an hour plus. All to see the doctor for 2 minutes. I understand being dilated takes some time but an hour??? Dr. Ahee doesn't have much of a bed side manner. He takes a minute to look at my eyes and doesn't say much other than "looks good." He at times seems put off by me even being there. The bills I receive are confusing. I have just had about enough of not saying anything. read more

Was told my procedure wasn't covered by insurance. I paid what was suppose to be the full amount, a couple thousand dollars. NINE months later I a get a bill for an additional $200. Not only was I disappointed to be billed for the additional charge but I feel like 9 months is an excessive about of time to get their bills out to patients. read more

I had an appointment for 10:00 AM. I had back surgery not long ago and can only sit for a limited amount of time. I informed the receptionist of this when I arrived a few minutes ahead of time. I waited until 10:35 and informed the receptionist that I couldn't wait any longer and rescheduled for different day. If that appointment ends up the same way I'll have to find a different ophthalmologist. My wife had an appointment there a few weeks ago and had the same experience. They must be deliberately overbooking to assure that the doctors don't experience any "holes" in their schedules. While that might be nice for them it makes it very inconvenient for numerous patients. Doctors who deliberately overbook should pay their patients for their wait time. Yeah, I realize that's not going to happen !!! read more

This is for the office in Santa Clara. Very unprofessional. Gave my husband the wrong eye prescription and all the glasses he ordered are incorrect. When he asked them to take check out the prescription to see if something was transposed, they said "sure, come on in". He went in. They then said he needed to have an appointment. Girl at front desk said his prescription "looked like it was OK". We don't think these people want to be in business for the long haul. Their customer service and their inability to deal with an issue is not worthy of a repeat visit. Try to find someone with more professionalism. read more

My 5 year old had a late night accident and cut her eyeball and upper eye lid close to the inner corner. Took her to the ER but was released and referred to a pediatric specialist. I called the next morning at 9:39. The receptionist asked me where I'd be coming from I told her I had just dropped my kids to school would take me 20 to get home and pick up my daughter and 20 to get to the office. She didn't give me a time just said to head there as soon as I could. When I got there the receptionist Krissanne, was extremely rude. I got there at 10:28 and she said that my appointment was at 9:50. (I had no appointment time and there was no way I could have made it in 10 min). I didn't have my insurance card just the ID and group number. She called to verify but she kept telling me that I didn't have that insurance. I told her I'd try to pull it up on my email. She sighed and told me to just hurry and fill the papers out and fax her a copy of my insurance card by that same time the next day or she'd bill me directly because she needed the billing address. My phone was already loaded I was just getting to the I'd card tab. She walks up to me and told me I just needed to hurry and finish the paper work and not be wasting time on that (my phone) because the doctor had an executive meeting he needed to be at. I rushed to fill it up and even filled the the insurance part. I also asked to have my daughters file sent to my sons doctor up north. She was annoyed. I waited less than 5 minutes. the technician was really nice and patient. She asked me my daughters nationality, which I wasn't sure what it even had to do with her eye... the doctor was nice but he told be to put the ointment the ER prescribed and that her lid didn't need to be stitched because it hadn't affected the tearduct. Basically to let it head on its own. Something just didn't sit well so I sent my sons doctor pictures and told him what had happened. His nurse called me right away and asked why she wasn't referred to a plastic surgeon. He tearduct had been cut. We drove up north and she went into surgery early the next morning. My daughter had to have a stint put in her tearduct and she had 12 stitches to put her tearduct and tendon together and 7 on the cut on her lid. I'm so glad I had another opinion from a real professional specialist. read more

I've been taking two of my kids to Dr. Schleisser, one of which has been seeing him for three years now and had a successful eye surgery by him a year ago. I have appreciated the service we get at his office: we always have reasonable wait times, there is good entertainment for my kids while waiting, when I need to reschedule I can get another appointment within a week or two, the staff are patient with my children, Dr. Schleisser educates me and makes his recommendation but isn't overbearing, and Dr. S appears to be up to date with current research. We have experienced going to another pediatric opthalmologist (out of state) and our care here has been much more pleasant. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

I tried the floater removal that they pushed on the radio. Outcome was pretty disappointing as on a few floaters were diminished and the spider web ones were not removed or diminished . I paid 1800 dollars for two to three spots diminished. I would not recommend this procedure for the price. read more

I went for cataract surgery. A lens was put in my eye to correct astigmatism. Within a week after surgery, I went back complaining something is wrong. I had to wear sunglasses all the time. My vision was blurred. After testing, I was told my vision was great - geez, why was there a shadowing of the eye chart? Doctor kept telling me everything was great. I ended up going to another doctor to have second eye done. Second doctor stated corrective lens had moved slightly causing symptoms. Surgery was only option (at my expense) to fix problem. read more

Very disappointed! My twins had a Dr. appointment scheduled with Dr. Schliesser months ago made by the doctor that saw them in the NICU. When we got there, early, the girl at the front desk was SO rude. If my employees ever treated someone that way I would expect to get complaints and they would possibly lose their job. Apparently the doctor is not in town and they said someone called me two days ago. Really? I have one phone number, my cell. I've checked all the call logs and messages and there is not one missed call from them. I was just shocked by her and her shortness that I had nothing to say to her except that I wasn't going to make a new appointment. I will never go there again and advise others not to. I feel bad as I have had no experience with the doctors to rate them but if that is how your front end works I don't want to come back. Obviously there was nothing more that I wanted to do with my day than pack up three kids under the age of three in hopes that an appointment I supposedly got told was canceled wasn't. Also, next time I will check google and yelp reviews before I let someone make an appointment for me because those aren't great either. read more
