It is tradition for my family and I to stop at Apple Hill on our way home from camping every year and this year was no different. After visiting Boa Vista, we decided to check out HWY 50 Brewery for a quick snack. The inside was pretty big and they also had a nice shaded patio area with misters going. Dogs were welcome too! We ordered the Pepperoni and Pineapple Pizza, Garlic Fries and Chicken Strips. It also came with 4 different homemade dipping sauces that were very good. I enjoyed all 3 items - they all had great taste and were cooked to order. Bathrooms were clean and staff were also very friendly! Overall, HWY 50 Brewery is a great place to hang out and I believe they also have live music on some days. We had a great time and will definitely be back next time we are in the area. Check them out!

If you want to have a drink looking at the vast forest that never ends while listening to a live band with some good food and happy people then Highway 50 Brewery is your place. This is my absolute favorite brewery. It has become a tradition now to stop here while we are in Eldorado National Forest for the day. The view though is the cherry on top and the sunsets are the most beautiful I have ever seen here at this special place.

Stop by to try their pizza! We each got our own individual pizza and it was great! I got an olive pizza! Yummy! Good service with live music too! Indoor or outdoor seating.

Great atmosphere mostly outside seating looking over the hills. When we came today they had a live band which was really good. Their menu is pizza, salad, hotdogs, tacos and a variety of sides. We purchased the 8 inch thin crust Woodfire combination pizza to share between 3 people. The pizza tasted great, thin crust was crispy but not too hard, woodfire taste and plenty of toppings, the cost was $21. For drinks my son and my husband had the Hwy 50 Backroad IPA $8 each& they both liked the smooth flavor. I had the fruit punch slushie $4, it was good. The service was alittle slow from ordering our food at the counter to getting food was 55 mins. The place was busy which is a good sign of good food, drinks and entertainment. Easy access to get on Hwy 50. We will come back again.

Great live music [only on certain nights, I assume], nice crowd, lots of seating. Great garlic parmesan fries. Beer only but just to the left, sharing the same patio, is a [wine] tasting room. They are fine with people bringing wine between establishments. A little pricey tho imo, $13/glass. Went 11/29/2025: Wear layers because indoor seating there is the 'garage door' open so it's more of an indoor-outdoor feel. There are firepits and heaters on the patio and so lots of patrons were out there for the music. I was able to hear the music from inside so that was nice. Beautiful views in the fall and as sun is setting. Band tonight was Fretless (fretlesstheband.com), they were great.

Great views cold beers and solid pizza! Highly recommend this place. It was a touch weird the winery next door had no on tending but t the staff at the brewery was on point.

The pizza is delicious and the beer smells like a brewed path to shared joy. In Apple Hill? Get some grub and suds.

Super cool brewery, right next to a winery off Highway 50, in Apple Hill. Tons of outdoor seating, and a dog friendly location. There are plenty of beers on tap. They have a good menu with pizza and a few other items, but we didn't try any food, only beer. The Dry Irish Stout and the Hwy 50 IPA were both delicious! The bartender was friendly, greeting us and serving us quickly!

WOW! Ok at first I was hesitant, but once we arrived and opened the doors...WOW! Such cool decor! Staff was awesome and fun, three cool dudes just doing their thing! We sat out front, chilled, chatted, got a second round and watched the cars roll by on Highway 50! Coming back!

Great place to grab a bite and chill. We just got done chopping down our Xmas tree at a nearby farm and needed some grub...fast. We got here and the parking lot seemed pretty packed but when we got up to the actual sitting area there were a lot of tables open. Hwy 50 Brewery is definitely legit in the food department. This particular visit I didn't partake in any beer because your boy needed to hydrate. Getting older. Trying to be better you know. But yea let's talk food. We ordered a some tenders and fries with some pizzas as well. I thought the Tenders and fries were my favorite things personally. Not too much breading and good flavor just by themselves. Now...if they give you the option, "Do you just want all our ranches?" Say, yes. One is regular, another is Jalapeño and the last I believe is Chipotle. All homemade. Like I said the tendies are fine on their own but the ranches really sealed the deal for me. The pizza's weren't bad. They just didn't stand out as much as the tenders did. We ordered Pepperoni and Buffalo Chicken. I'm a sauce man. I really loved the sauce on both pizzas but yea. They were just good. Nothing out of the ordinary. But at the same time I was content with my meal. The people who work there were super nice. I definitely would come back if we have an opportunity. Where we were sitting, a band was setting up to perform so I was kinda sad. We would of been almost right in front too but just means we have to come back!

Great location with awesome service and a shout out to co owner Diana who made us feel at home...the place has some beautiful views and heard the sunsets are gorgeous. It was time to leave the city lights and head up the hill to experience some outstanding beer. I, Totally loved this brewery and to feel the mountain breeze with some chill beers is a bonus. I had the pale ale so crisp and cold with an refreshing taste. Grab the kids, the dog and enjoy some hot pizza and a crispy green salad and enjoy the beautiful foothills. I love living in CA with outstanding breweries and wonderful wineries. The pizza we ordered was a combo cooked to perfection in a wood burning oven with a crispy crust and the salad was fresh as summer. I definitely will be back with friends and family....

Did an early Apple Hill trip and late August is the time to go! After paying on the bbq fare at several apple shops we decided to try lunch at Hwy 50 Brewery. The patio was nicely shaded and a bit cooler than the farms down the hill. A band was setting too. We had chicken strips and fried cheese curds to share. Both were ok. They had the right amount of breading but were a little overcooked. The marinara was nicely chunky. To drink we had two ginger ales and an El Dorado beer. The ginger ales were totally different colors and tasted were more like sweet water than ginger. The beer was standard Mexican style ale and a bit warm out of the tap. Overall the food and drinks were adequate but bland. The location made it better.

The entire place has a cute, farm-style feel--very country, open, and spacious. They offer outdoor seating as well as beautiful long, communal wooden tables inside. There's a small open kitchen where you can watch the staff preparing the food, and the restrooms were clean and surprisingly spacious. They also carry local donuts, which were absolutely worth trying. We had the apple fritter, which was soft and delicious with the perfect crispy exterior. Our favorite was the almond bar--it was delicate, flaky, buttery, and so good. We also tried a cookie that was equally delicious. For lunch, we ordered the turkey sandwich, which was piled high with turkey and crisp vegetables, the bourbon bacon jam toast with melted brie, and a classic BLT. We kept it simple with water, which is available as self-serve. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the outdoor space. They have cornhole and bocce available to play around the property, adding to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was incredibly kind, and they also have a small market area featuring drinks, local products, and other items for sale. The entire place is quaint and adorable, both inside and out. I highly recommend Blue Barn Provisions for lunch or brunch if you're in the Pollock Pines area! :) dog friendly.

Hwy 50 Brewery has live music on weekends, so Nello Olivo stays open later to match their hours. 8 PM on Fridays & Saturdays and 7 PM on Sundays!!! I don't have to leave Apple Hill around 5 or 6 PM anymore. What a wonderful and inviting place to do a wine tasting! I received such gracious service from Mark and another male bartender. I was allowed several free sample sips before deciding what to order. If you want a proper tasting flight with a tray of 5 wine glasses (filled with 2 ounces or about an inch up the wine glass?), it costs $25 if you want to sit and drink at a table and only $15 if you are willing to stand and taste at the bar, assuming the bar isn't too busy. A glass of wine is $10 and a glass of premium wine is $20, as of 7/29/2023. There is also a Yelp check-in offer for a $15 flight of 5 wines. Mark recommended the 2020 PRIMITIVO, which is his favorite and ended up being my favorite. Smooth. The MALBEC was my 2nd favorite for its flavor. I also tried the Sangiovese, Barbera, Sinfonia, Chardonnay, and Cali Mojo. Kept on tap, the Cali Mojo tasting was ample and was served over ice cubes. So refreshingly sweet, fruity, and bubbly that I ended up ordering it! I was slow to realize you could order the CALI MOJO in colorful cans to take home. I should have done that. It's a lovely wine spritzer or wine soda. You can purchase snacks to go with your tasting. I forgot to take a look at the charcuterie offerings in a fridge, but the sweet treats are only 2 for $1. These include individually wrapped Ferrero Rocher, Madeleine cookies, and brownie bites. Very reasonably priced and thoughtful. You could also buy food from Hwy 50 Brewery next door (i.e., pizza, hot dogs, tacos, salad, fries), and you're welcome to wander, sit, drink, and listen to live music over there. Nello Olivo also sells attractive and affordable gifts. A cute blanket with cats or a pretty swimsuit or beach cover-up costs $20-$25. $6 bracelets. $8 dangling earrings. Nello Olivo is conveniently located less than 2 miles away from Boa Vista Orchards on Carson Road. I didn't realize Camino was that close. The parking lot is quite large and long, but I imagine it could get full if it's packed. Nello Olivo is in a plaza within walking distance of several other wine tasting rooms and restaurants.
