In retrospect, I should have called him later in the day to see if it was done but it was the first time dealing with him so I was giving him the benefit of my doubts. Guess what? After making a special trip to the store, there was no order to be found anywhere. That was my protein for the next three days and what they had in the counter was not that appetizing and were much larger cuts of fish cuts and no guarantees that they were, in fact, yellow-fin tuna. He guaranteed that he was going to cut a specific weight for me of yellow-fin tuna caught fresh the previous day. I spent at least ten minutes on the phone with him having a very friendly conversation that sounded genuine. The staff offered no apologies or compensation of any sort for my ordeal almost insinuating that I was fabricating the whole situation.

I am a female and just had a man walk in on me while I was actively using the restroom. That's uncomfortable and avoidable. A printed sign is not a substitute for functioning locks. For a major grocery store, this should be addressed promptly. Basic privacy in a restroom is not optional. Still shop here, but please fix the locks. I did try calling to speak with someone but the phone was never answered.

Typical ABC store…read more I had a return to make ( Sadly the large bottle of Grey Goose put us way over the limit of Alcohol & Weight for going back to Canada ) I also finally found a cool tank top to take back home to my ex bf who had requested one. It wasn't exactly what I had in mind ( he wanted one that said Kona or Big Island ) but it was slim pickings both here and at many other stores. The last ABC didn't even have men's Tank tops, and time was winding down. Took my chances and lucky for me ( and him! ) he said he really liked it. The return was easy ( always keep your receipt! ) They also had various Kona guitar picks as an impulse buy at the cash desk, so I got him one of those as well. I didn't really look around at anything else, but I'm sure it has everything you need from this iconic Hawaiian convenience store!

There are several restaurants along the waterfront in Kona and we chose to have dinner at Humpy's (now Laverne's) Big Island Ale House. They have a downstairs seating area but we elected upstairs (there's in and outside). We were seated quickly and the server was friendly (there's validated parking at Coconut Grove Marketplace- make sure you give your license plate to the staff). We sat right along the rail and looked out over Kailua Harbor. And started with delicious cocktails - I chose the Blue Hawaii and my wife their Pina Colada. Both were tasty and refreshing (my wife loved the drink so much we came back another night). It was a late night meal so we wanted something lighter - I chose the Blue Cheese Wedge Salad and my wife ordered the Hummus Plate. It wasn't long before our plates came out (but long enough to believe they were freshly prepared). The salad was tasty and had plenty of variety in the ingredients. My wife also really enjoyed the Hummus plate with pita wedges, hummus and vegetables. As I mentioned we came another night and I enjoyed the Kalua Pork Sliders (with Likikoi Cole Slaw) while my wife really enjoyed their Aloha Spinach Salad (with goat cheese, avocado, caramelized bacon, and Pineapple chunks). I asked the owner where it was and she said oh you park around the side, but let me walk you over and she did. The nearby arcade is a BYOB so when I ran out of my own beer, I was happy to walk back over and buy some from her. She was extremely kind, so is the husband very helpful in navigating me through the store. Just very nice and genuine people which I really like. Place was clean and well organized. It's amazing how much they stacked in this place in the small space that they have.
