When I walked up to the meat counter I made the mistake of thinking these steaks were 19.99 per lb but found out when I saw the tag at home it was actually 26.65 per pound. Helpful smile in almost every aisle. When Hy-Vee arrived in Minnesota this location was our go to and we were impressed. They had a great variety of ready made and hot items, an extensive cheese and meat area and a great bakery for specialty donuts and cakes. We would also visit their market grille for meals occasionally and always had a good experience. But, on a recent visit it seems things might have gotten a bit worse over the years. While the wide range of options still exist, it wasn't the HyVee experience we usually expect. In particular, we needed assistance at the meat counter and were greeted abruptly and felt like we were being a bother. After asking a question the employee abruptly walked off (to get the answer) but felt weird that there was no "let me check" or "I'll be right back". Ultimately we got the info and product we were there for but my partner and I were left wondering what just happened. We still are fans of Hy vee but won't go out of our way to visit this location unless there is a very specific need, which is what took us there in our most recent visit. read more

You have to watch them or they will rob you blind at this one. They like to use bait and switch tactics and hope you don't catch it on your receipt. If you do catch it on your receipt and try and return it, the service manager Anneli will short change you by taking more back than what she's Returning to you in what you paid. When you take them down the aisle and show them the advertised price on the item, they try and tell you what you're reading is wrong. When you ask for a store manager so you can point out to that person what they are doing, the store manager just doesn't happen to be there at that time. Good luck shopping here. Fantastic space, parking is easy. You'll find every aspect of Hy-Vee's ecosystem at this location (carwash, gas station, etc) Staff were alright, they were focused on their tasks for the most part. I was slightly confused on how the space was used, most of the store wasn't accessible. Majority of the isles had boxes in them, it was hard to take photos that told a story besides a messy one. For better context, it looked like it was a brand new store on the verge of opening although this location has been open since 2016. I'm sure it doesn't always look a mess, but the mess took away from their customer service. I'll be back to see if I have a different experience. read more

You know those scenes at Walmart where there's 20 people standing around in the area in front of the checkouts and maybe one cashier? That's how this store operates. Most of the self checkout stations were closed. I don't know how that is a thing. There were two cashiers working, and they both had very long lines. So I stood in line at one of the self checkouts. After five minutes or so, that self-checkout errored out and that person needs an employee to fix it. So I switched lines. After another five minutes, this other checkout also gives an error that needs an employee to fix it. There are no employees anywhere aside from the two whole cashiers. The food I was going to buy is probably still sitting there by the checkout. My lunch break was all the time I had to buy these supplies, and I spent it without managing to get anything. I used to work at a Hy-Vee back in 2006 or so. I wonder if private equity took them over or something, because it was a much better quality place back then. As a vendor, I had serviced many Hyvee stores in the metro. Most of us called them Hymart because they try to sell way more than just groceries. Their entire operation is a joke. Incompetent managers make most of the employees incompetent as well. I've never seen such a poor operation in my life. Price gouging at its finest too. They even have a small clothing section with pieces made only for Hy Vee. Some of it is pretty cute! My favorite part about the store is the sweets and pastries at the very front of the store. They are amazing. They have many different types of donuts, which is nice compared to the normal flavors you get bored of! And they have any other type of treat you could want to: cupcakes, big cakes, macaroons, brownies, and so much more. All of it is good! Their hot food section is also great. It's kinda just fun to look around here because there's so much variety. Employees especially in the food service areas are very polite and willing to help, though the checkers tend to be slow from my experiences no matter what time of day I come. Their fresh produce is always fresh- no wilty veggies here. Some of the highlights: - The desserts display. Hard to miss and they all look so good. I placed a large order for some mini desserts for an event and was very satisfied with the whole process. Also, try the Carrot Cake Bomb dessert! - Sunday special on Sushi Rolls-- buy one, get one for $1. We used Hy-Vee to cater our holiday party for approximately 60 people. The service was wonderful from my first phone to the delivery and set up. There was on hiccup with the salad dressing not being sent but the delivery driver ran to a local store to get some without hesitation. The food was delicious. It was wonderful hearing everyone say how good it all was. We had ham, herbed chicken, party potatoes, mac and cheese, roasted vegetable, salad, rolls and brownies. People that don't normally eat much for vegetables were going back for seconds! We will definitely be using them again! read more

I love Hy Vee!! Whether I go here at 1am or 3pm the staff are always nice and helpful. I love how clean and organized the store is shopping wise. My one out of 2 complaints about Hy Vee- I usually don't use public bathrooms but I had been out all day, I went into the one open stall they had at the moment (1 was out of order and the others were occupied). No toilet paper, no paper towels. By time I turned around to wait for another stall to open 2 women were waiting. When someone came out of one of the other stalls she said that that stall was also out of paper towels and toilet paper, so I decided to hold it. Not really the biggest deal, but nice, well taken care of bathrooms would have really but them above the rest. Would have been the perfect place! My second complaint is that they only have one scale in the produce section and boy was it hard to find. If you are wondering where it is, it is in the front of the produce section by the apples. The apples were stacked all around the scale in which I had to rearrange the apples in order to weigh my fruits. This only bothers be because their food is a little more expensive than other grocery stores (but better quality overall), and I once spent $23 on a bag of organic cotton candy grapes because I did not see a scale to weigh it before I got to the register and they were scanned. Now that I got my complaints out of the way, on to the amazingness this store has to offer. One stop shop! You can get Starbucks, gas, a car wash, clothes, household good & gadgets, groceries and bakery/deli/grille/cafe food all in one stop. The deli food is good. I've tried a few different things from here. The mac and cheese is good, my mom loves the meatloaf. They really have a lot to offer. They have a loyalty rewards program which helps you to save money on gas. They usually have decent sales and specials on items. Sad to see the Brooklyn Park location has really slipped in terms of service and reliability. Three times now in a row we have had issues with both our Aisles On-Line orders and our Curbside Meals-To-Go. The Meals-To-Go is the most disappointing change at Brooklyn Park. It went from a family favorite, to a joke in the family. The last three orders have all had issues, and the last order which occurred tonight was totally mishandled. Waited over 25 minutes past when my meal was supposed to be ready. When I called, the worker seemed really put off by my request to cancel the order. She indicated that they only got the order 10 minutes ago. The rude demeanor of the person on the phone prompted me to go into the store to talk to the manager in charge. Megan was the manager , but was only able to explain that she handled just the front of the store and that there wasn't much she could do. Save your time, and search out other options for meals. There are so many other alternatives, and gladly went to a local restaurant for my takeout. I would rather support a local business then give money to an Iowa based company. So we went to the Brooklyn Park store to sign up for Perks and the customer service employee was not welcoming what so ever. it wa. as though we were a burden. She didn't explain anything and entered our information and ssid our card would show up in a few days but in the meantime we could just need to use our phone #. So we went shopping to use out great deals! When we got home, we discovered that didn't receive any of the perk pricing which was super disappointI my! Obvioudly. just giving your phone number iis not enough. Make sure you check your receipt before you head home. Hyvee is gouging customers. I'll stay with Aldi! read more

Is it possible to love a grocery store? Because I am pretty sure I love Hy-Vee. In all honesty, I rarely shop the regular grocery section and instead prefer to shop all the fun, pretty stuff- bakery, meat counter, olive bar, cheese case, etc. I find that a lot of the products aren't necessarily better than any where else, but they display everything so beautiful and it really makes a difference. I love all the "prepared" foods - the stuffed pork chops, the precut veggies, deli salads, etc. I suspect there's a TON of waste generated by selling food this way, and you do pay more for it, but not an exorbitant amount. I love going in a Sunday and picking up ingredients for a nice Sunday dinner that I don't have to spend all day preparing. The people are SO NICE and they always have tons of staff manning each department. There's never a long wait. If there's a item you want from the meat counter they'll make it up for you if they are out. If there's a packaged bakery item you want just 1-2 of instead of 4 they'll open a package and sell you just what you want. You can have your bread sliced as thick/thin as you want. It's just SO NICE to have so many options! (At one point last summer they had like 8 varieties of grapes!!) They have a lot of deli options: Chinese, tacos, chicken, pizza, salads, sandwiches, bagels (fun cream cheese flavors though the bagels aren't great). And a nice seating area to enjoy in store with REAL cutlery!! (This is different than the Harvest Grill). I LOVE bulk departments and HyVee doesn't disappoint. Lots of candy, nuts, snack mixes. They also have bulk herbs and spices which is super awesome for when you have a recipe that calls for something obscure you aren't likely to use again. Bulk flours (including GF flours), dried fruits, grains. A nice organic/health food department, housewares, beauty (including bulk home made soaps, I think), bulk dog treats/bones, beautiful bakery, fancy charcuterie boards, oh, AND clothes! There really is nothing they don't have! (Yes, alcohol, but that's not Hyvee's fault). They'll bag your groceries for you. They also have curb side pick up and online delivery options. They run great specials (BOGO sushi!), do events for kids (luau day!), and give back to the community (including being employee owned). They have a loyalty card and gas program for their gas station as well. Guys (Cub), THIS is how you do a grocery store!! I have a new Cub a mile from my house but will instead drive to BP to go to HyVee. I think that really says something about how utterly terrible the shopping experience at Cub is. I'm a little torn about writing a review of a grocery store first of all and then also how many stars to give this one. Maybe I should have added a star but at the same time it's a little like the store, I'm not sure what I'm looking at. I will say they have a very good produce area, nice prepared items as far as both the bakery and the meat and cheese area go. They have several different restaurants in place to get some food as you're walking through and these are a little better than some of the other local grocers offer. My problem is this place is like a cross between Cub/Rainbow (which I cant stand going in to) and Lunds or Byerlys which I enjoy everything but the price. I hate WholeFoods so I wont even add them to my thought process (see my review for the litany of reasons) and they are nothing like Trader Joes which I love. Their ethnic foods area does have some very good choices but they are not cheap on some of these things and I guess with the selection you don't need to be. I will say the bakery and meat and wine section are very good. Damn, just not sure where to put them but I do know this is the choice for shopping when I plan to make Asian food, South American dishes and thinking outside the box! KT read more

My wife and I love Hy-Vee! So why only 3 stars? Because we hate the Deli department. Hy-Vee offers so many good items; great bakery, amazing pastries, phenomenal meats, a wide selection of everything else, and great customer service. Except in the Deli department. The meats and cheeses are high quality, but the way in which they're offered is awful. Like so many other Midwest supermarkets, cold cuts are sliced ahead of time, usually at a falling apart shaved thickness (why can't Midwest delis grasp the concept of thin slicing?), and then displayed and packaged as a pile/hunk of meat that is impossible to separate (see pics). We grew up in the NJ/NY area, land of good deli, even at supermarkets. I assume those that pre-slice will claim that it's to decrease costs and reduce wait times. But the reality is that the cost of cold cuts is not cheaper in the Midwest, and what good does it do if I wait less time for cold cuts I can barely use? Fix this and I'd gladly give 5 stars. I really enjoy this Hy-Vee store, it is high and feeling like a Lund's-Byerly's, and the pricing is more in line with Cub. The employees are friendly and helpful, and if you have difficulty locating something any of the Hy-Vee people that you encounter will help you find it. What I love is that they will actually walk you over to where the product is, not just give you some roundabout directions throughout the store. Produce section is huge and I have always been happy with what I have picked up there, there is a beautiful baked goods section in the front, multiple options for takeout food and a full-service restaurant on site. There is also F & F clothing prices are good, wide variety of sizing and everything from children's to adults. Also on-site is a pharmacy and the people there have been quite helpful and that is where I get my Rx filled when needed. There is a liquor store And I have found the employees in the liquor store to be quite knowledgeable and they have a deep selection at reasonable prices. read more

We normally don't shop at Hy-Vee in Brooklyn Park because the prices are higher than Cub and Aldi. However, we were given a gift card to Hy-Vee, so we went there. We found most every thing we needed except frozen corn, who runs out of frozen corn? The cashier seemed unsure of what he was doing, asked us what the price of the potatoes were, what kind of onion a "red" onion was, and what type of broccoli we were buying, it was fresh. Near the end a manager came over and said he needed the cashier outside so another one finished up. The bagger put a couple of items in a bag and then wandered off. I bagged my own groceries. Near the end the bagger came back and watched as I finished. Higher prices, low customer service, will continue to shop at Cub and Aldi. read more

Love this place! I can't believe I haven't written a review yet. Where do I start, well, I absolutely love this grocery store. There are a variety of things to shop for such as clothes, body products, pet products, alcohol, and having a place to dine in. The customer service is great, they really want their customers to have a great experice. Sometimes if things don't ring up, they'll just give it to you for free as they are often busy. They always have free products at reasonable prices. They even have a bakery and I would recommend getting cakes there, they are addcitingly delicious. I ordered the celebration cake with whipped topping and it was great! The have fresh meat and are pretty fast in getting what you want. It's a spacious place even when it's busy so I appreciate the spacing of aisles. Staff are always checking in with you. The staff at night have gotten more friendly and welcoming. Lucky me, this grocery store can be seen from my back yard! I've never experienced a Hyvee before, but if they're all like this, I'm sold. I'd describe it (at least the BP location) as a cross between Lunds/Byerlys and Cub. I feel bad for the Cub that's basically the next stoplight down across 610, I literally haven't set foot in there since Hyvee opened and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Things I like - Walking distance from my house (and I do in the summer). Starbucks in store, donut/pastry section up in front, an impressive meat and deli/bakery department, discounts on the health food stuffs on Wednesdays, the whole healthy/fitness isle itself (protein powder, energy drinks, protein bars, supplements, etc etc), the takeout options. The attached liquor store has a really fantastic beer selection, lots of local stuff. The fuel saver perks can really add up if you buy strategically (my last fillup was 84 cents off!). Decent cookware section if you're in need of things of that nature. Nice car wash at the gas station. Things I don't like - they have a lot of checkout lines but it seems only about half are running at any given time, even when lines are long. The Mexican food station could either step up their game or lower their prices (not as good as Chipotle yet charge basically the same price, le sigh). There is an attached restaurant, the Hyvee Market Grill, but I haven't had good food experiences there (see my separate review for that). That's just some nitpicky stuff there. We are at this grocery store several times a week because it's so easy just to pop over if we need to grab something, or even just to run to the Starbucks by the gas station. read more

I shopped at this location for the longest time after first moving to the area in Autumn 2015. For the longest time, I had a great deal of good fortune at this location, with people treating me well. After about half a year into the store's operations, I started getting treated very rudely by cashiers and baggers. The one time I actually bothered to report this to management, they tried to excuse it to me by saying, "oh, well it's near the end of their school year and they're all feeling really antsy." I was aghast and told the manager to her face, "that's not my problem, nor is it my responsibility. It's your job to keep tabs on your employees!" Things only got worse a month or so later when their fuel rewards system was not working properly. Each and every night, I was unable to get my rewards points. Their system ended up being down for weeks on end...and I was losing out on all my points. I later found out that this was only happening at this location, so I was quite furious. Every time I went into the store, I had to go through a whole mess with customer service in order to get my rewards points. The last time I was at the store, everyone working made nasty faces, knowing I was going to request my rewards points. I have never had such abhorrent treatment for such a long period of time by an institution that I previously shopped at loyally, spending a great deal of money there. Since the time when everybody working gave me dirty looks, I've never once been back, choosing instead to shop at the New Hope location, where I am treated with kindness and respect by everyone there. Needing a break from cooking for 5 so we Ordered Easter dinner from Hy-Vee. The ham was fine, but the instructions on the glaze were wrong, the Brussel sprouts were bitter and un-exciting, Waldorf salad tasteless, mashed potatoes way to salty - almost inedible , sweet potato casserole was a mixture of under cooked chunks and soup mash, apple crisp disappointing with hardly any topping. I don't typically review grocery stores, but this one is impressive. It's a combination of Whole Foods, Lunds, Wal-Mart and ethnic grocery store. If I lived in the area, I would absolutely shop here. Huge produce section that's carefully stocked, dry aged meat, multiple rows of ethnic food offerings, local artisan charcuterie, bagelry, multiple cooking/serving stations with ready to eat food- it even has a yoga aisle. Hy Vee corporate also employees registered dietitians to provide tips and tricks that you see written around the store. The one downfall was their massive bakery/desserts case. We tried their banana cream pie, cream puff, cannoli and eclair and the desserts were waxy, stale and preserved-like, not freshly made. Even if you avoid the pristine-looking desserts, this store is worth a visit. read more

After living in Mankato for 2 years, I became an avid Hy-Vee shopper. I even worked there. I was so excited to see them come to the cities! This location is usually fully stocked which is amazing considering how busy it always is. Finding things is pretty easy in the store. I've never really been asked if I needed help though which is something Hy-Vee really stands for so that's disappointing. The biggest problem I have with this store is how they do not have all registers running with a courtesy at all busy times. Often times lines are backed up into the aisles. As far as Aisles Online... delivery was late the one time we did it. But pick up was pretty flawless. The lady who helped pack my car was such a sweetie. The cashiers are usually nice but tend to hold side conversations. I don't mind so much since I'm unloading my cart. The cashiers can be on the slower side though.
