This restaurant is a new location in blaine, they also have a drive thru. Ambiance is colorful, relaxing colors, and clean. We got in line and ordered our food. A friend recommended this place to me a few months ago and finally got around to trying it out. NUMMY! I am a big soup and salad fan and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the pick 2 combo - soup and salad. I got the mushroom Bisque and it was a bowl of flavorful mushrooms! And the Nuts about Berries salad with the perfect amount of poppyseed dressing. I was so tempted wirth the chicken curry sup, guess next time. My order came with a small baguette and chocolate dipped strawberry. Signed up for their rewards program as I will defiantly be earning more future points at this place. HIGHLY recommend. First time trying out their food. I was here earlier for their grand opening, but the sun was brutal so I came back at 1pm with my family. (Apparently some people waited in line since 10PM last night! Either Cafe Zupas is really good or they really wanted to be the first 100 customers for door prize, which is the Stanley water bottle and sweatshirt.) The service so far is amazing. Even before the ribbon cutting, team members help answer any questions. I was greeted by team members. I noticed the staff work efficiently during the lunch rush. I was dizzy as plates flying left and right behind the counter as they work to get food to the customers. The staff did well communicating with each other. The food was generously served. I ordered a brisket stroganoff, which comes with a strawberry covered chocolate and bread. We also ordered 3 kids meal, one takeout (another brisket stroganoff), and a Turkey avocado sandwich. The dessert was on point - not too sweet. Since it is the grand opening, the place was packed. Most seats were filled until 2pm. The staff members offer to clean up after us. There is decent amount of parking. They also have a lane for drive-thru and mobile order. Overall, the food is good. I'll be back to try new things. read more

I had a LIVE BUG in my food at the Cafe Zupas in Blaine, MN. I noticed because the taste was off half way through my power bowl. Fortunately I didn't actually put it in my mouth. I then called the location to inform them of this, and manager Alicia proceeds to act all nonchalant and say how this is a common occurrence this time of year and that the bug was just trying to stay warm in the lettuce?! HELLO?!! do you want business??!! She didn't even apologize! I then suggested maybe they check their lettuce which she reluctantly said they'd do (I could clearly tell she was just saying this to appease me and did not have intentions of doing so). Based on how the call was going, I honestly didn't think they were going to do anything about it, but at the very end of the call she then offered to remake the bowl (which I had NO problem declining). I would avoid eating here because apparently they commonly allow bugs in your food and think nothing of it!! How do they view this as acceptable? Made a Yelp account just for this. read more

Expos were quick to call our needs and even with just 1 cashier the line moved quickly. I ordered the turkey avocado club and it was so delicious I forgot to snap a pic. Prepare for limited menu options if you dine 8pm or after and slow service as they are too busy tearing everything down for the night. First people in line waited about 5 minutes to place order. Asked if we wanted dine-in or to-go, we chose dine in and apparently not what she wanted to hear as she stated we close at 9pm, I pulled out my phone it was 8:15 so I gave her a puzzled look. Ordered chicken sandwich it was a premade piece of breaded chicken, probably frozen chicken patty, she grabbed and threw in air fryer. I tried to order chick pea soup but they were out, only broth soup besides chicken noodle. Ordered my chicken pesto on wheat, gal asked twice white or wheat but of course served on white bread. Went to check out and I had a coupon for 50% off dinner which I checked over many many times for expiration date never found it but of course it was only back in a very light size 4 font that could hardly read. I told the lead person this is my first time we only came in because of the coupon, if you could honor it that would be great, she refused. I asked what else can you do it's taken me 15 minutes from order to checkout and you don't have half your menu she said nothing. No other discounts or coupons? Nope. I asked for butter for roll, was told umm I think we are out but I'm sure it was just put away already. I paid the $30 for two meals, sat down and Lo and behold I checked in on yelp and there was a $5 discount; smh too late. Trying to eat and they are putting up chairs on tables, emptying drink dispensers, clinging pans around; it was very uncomfortable. The only positive was Paige who went and got me to go containers when I asked her as she walked by and as we left she told us to have a good night. I was loving the food. Your best deal is the choose 2 combo! They did away with my crab avocado sandwich already (the reason for only 3 stars now). The half salads are large. I got the BBQ chicken salad and it had way to much dressing on it for me. I will ask for all sauces on the side from now on. The salad was great otherwise. The service is fast and efficient even with the busyness of the store. They sent out 50% off coupons to the area around them. The chocolate covered strawberry is a nice touch, mini dessert. I would saw it is a modern Panera. Stainless steel cold, loud music...not a place, like Panera, where you want to sit and talk with your girlfriends for an hour or so. Maybe it appeals better to those under 40. LOL. I prefer take out rather than dine in. Just my opinion. They have been so busy when we have been there that the tables aren't all clean. We made do or wiped them off ourselves. This, I hope, should get better once it returns to normal levels and the newness wears off. read more

First time visit here and was pleasantly surprised. They have a great website explaining everything but the large menu board inside helped with decisions. Staff was very welcoming when we said it was our first time there and told us to take our time. We both got the soup/sandwich combo- tomato basil soup & Italian club and lobster bisque & turkey cranberry Brie (seasonal sandwich). Both items were large and very flavorful although husband thought the tomato/basil soup was a little thick. The seating area was clean and bright. There were several people already sitting and by the time we left there was a good sized line to order. Sign of good food. Wonderful selection of Soup and sandwiches. If in the mood for salads, they will not disappoint. Our first time there it was around 3 pm. The lady in front of was ordering for 18 people. As she ordered labels were put on containers and sent to next person to start filling. It was well orchestrated. The gentleman cashier than had to bag as customer specified. Our order was to eat in. Tonight I got the Crispy Chicken Avocado Salad and Honey Bacon Club Sandwich. So yummy! Hubby got Lobster Bisque and a BBQ Brisket Sandwich. He complained that the sandwich was really good but wasn't BBQ'y. Total user error on his part because the bbq sauce was in his box but he didn't see it. Maybe a flashing light on the bbq sauce for the unobservant? Because it was his fault. I charged him a DA tax of half his Lobster Bisque. And ohmygoodnesssakes!! It was phenomenal. This is going to make my next order really hard because I love the salad and sandwich but I need more bisque! Highly recommend! read more

Ordered pick up. Pick up time was 5:40pm. Arrived at 5:45 and my order wasn't there. Observed MANY employees standing about, not doing a f*cking thing. Went back to my car. Walked back into the store 10 minutes later - Order isn't there STILL. Finally was asked my name and order number....That order was picked up the senior member of the staff said. AWESOME!!! By who?? Was it verified? Do you have any kind of system for DoorDash pickup? So I leave while I wait for my order to be re-made. ...wondering why no one is monitoring the to-go station which must be a standard. 15 minutes later I come back and my food is ready. Finally. This has happened the ONLY 2x I have ordered from Blaine Zupas. Garbage food and customer service. South metro Zupas locations have 10x the service and food quality which is why I was excited when Zupas came to Blaine. Now I'll never eat it again until someone else buys it AND picks it up for me. So this place in general is normally really good, and I've become a big fan of Cafe Zupas, but the Blaine location has been a constant source of frustration and letdown multiple times. Whenever I order sandwiches, they often forget to add the actual toppings to my sandwiches that are supposed to be there. For example, if I order the cranberry turkey sandwich, they forget the microgreens. When I order the bowls, what they advertise is not what they actually give you. I know that most food does not look like what's shown on restaurant pictures, but their bowls-- They give you a fourth of what you actually order. The manager actually showed me the spoon sizes and they look like tablespoons. Talk about false advertising and taking advantage of the customers and their money. Not only that, but they typically put in the tiniest strawberries. I normally don't nitpick or care about these kind of things, but I'm super disappointed because at other locations I at least get a decent size bowl, and the manager's response was "maybe they're not following the portion size". Yeah, maybe, or maybe they just value their customers enough to give them quality food and normal portion sizes. read more

I received a promo for a $5 sandwich. I chose the pesto chicken sandwich. Flavor was ok but I was very disappointed by the size of the sandwich. Each half felt like about four bites. Even at the discounted rate (which was $3 off), I didn't feel it was worth the price. I can't speak for all the locations, but this review is specifically for the Blaine location. You think I'd learn, right? Apparently not. So, after a long day I figured I would give them another try and swing by Cafe Zupas to get a quick meal (Chipotle Glazed salad) on a Friday night. I'm hungry. My kids are hungry. We just want to grab the food and go home. I ordered online, waited the 15 min (expected), then went through the mobile order lane. Got to the window and this sweet kid at the window was like, "We have your order. we're still working on it." So me and my hungry kiddos hang tight. He comes back and says, "So, we have a couple of problems. (Great) We have two kinds of chicken, but we don't have either one of them. Do you want us to put extra avocado on them? (Uhh absolutely not.) Then he says, "We can do brisket." (Again, no... I want what the menu says it comes with.) So after re-living the same disappointing feeling from last month, I ask, "Can I just have a try-2 combo?" He has to check with his manager and, to my surprise, the answer is no. No? Not even for the inconvenience of having me drive to the restaurant, wait 20/25 min only to be told "we don't have any chicken, do you want avocado?" LOL. I thought it was a joke, but wrong again. He says, he could refund my order and I can just order the try two combo (and wait some more). They couldn't just whip up a non-chicken sandwich and a non-protein-filled salad while I'm right there at the window? Not even for my troubles, eh? Nope. Apparently there's this whole thing about how they have keep track of their food - I presume so they have an accurate inventory and don't RUN OUT of all those precious meat slices and CHICKEN CUBES.... (any one notice the irony, here?). So I just ask him to refund me. Then he says, "Ok, I have to get my manager to refund you. You should see it refunded in a few days, but let me print you a receipt if for some reason you don't see it, then you can just call us---(WAIT, WHAT? MORE work from me?! lol Man, I sure am doing a whole lot of work for free, not even for a meal!) So now, here I am, having to remember 3 days from now that Cafe Zupas in Blaine wasted my time AGAIN, just to verify that my refund took place. First-world problems, I know, but jeez... it's just so annoying when all I wanted was for them to hold up their end of the deal, and give me what I paid for. And if for some reason, they happened to create an inconvenience, that they'd take accountability for it and show some customer appreciation. Sheesh. Tried to order off their app, and use a 50% off coupon mailed to me. Didn't work. Called their phone number, and got some call center. They called they store and the manager told us to place the order in the restaurant. No problem. We had it all priced out in the app. Prices in the store were much higher. The manager would not honor the 50% discount on the brisket stroganoff that we ordered, of which there were no stipulations on the coupon. They also charged us higher prices on the salads that we ordered. In the end, we paid almost regular price for the food, and just gave up on the discount. The food was pretty good, but the manager was clearly in it to rip us off. The brisket stroganoff looked absolutely nothing like the picture on there app. It was in a soup cup, and had very little pasta. It would've been better classified as a soup. I didn't even get a receipt, which is clearly for a reason. The bottom line is if you bring a coupon that was mailed to you on a plastic card, and expect to get 50% off, think again. This place is clearly trying to just get you in the door, and take all your money. read more

Terrible service today! I ordered a sandwich and soup online. I had a 50% off coupon and it would not let me apply it online. I made the order and presented the coupon when I picked up my food. They said I couldn't use it because the order was already placed. I asked them to cancel the order and re-order using the coupon. They said they would have to call IT in order to cancel the order. I said forget it because i did not want to wait 3 days to get my return back. So, my order was not ready and they told me to park on the side and they would bring it out. I waited for 20 minutes and finally went in. After I could finally get some help, they checked on the order and said they did not have the soup that I ordered. I wonder how long I would have been waiting in my car outside before they finally told me they did not have what I ordered? After half an hour I finally got my order. Did not even get an apology!
